He was cold.
He was hugging his unconscious brother and Mama held them both.
'Mama?'
Scott was scared. It was just the three of them entombed in the snow.
'Mama!'
This time Mama groaned. She looked directly at Scott and sighed.
Scott saw the moment realisation dawned. Mama gave him a sad smile.
'Look after your brothers, my beautiful boy.'
'I will, Mama. I promise.'
'I know you will.'
Mama's eyes slid shut again and she sagged against Scott.
'Mama? Mama! Stay! Please!'
Scott repeated his plea over and over until the cold claimed him.
But Mama had already gone.
