Idea 62.
Just one idea here that I found in my folders. A lot different than my usual stuff I think.
Title:
*Gang Orca POV*
When you were a mutant type it could be hard to tell what was ingrained in you from your quirk or as a person.
However, Kugo was certain that this particular trait was one that he would have always had. Between how he was raised and what he believed, Kugo always had a certain nature at the forefront of who he was.
It was to nurture.
Raising and caring for people, especially those who would come after him, was a very important part of his life and had shaped who he wanted to be both as a man and a hero. It was part of why it hurt him so much that children feared him because when he saw children he saw something precious that should be provided love and support. The future, those children's future, was something that he needed to defend and even more so help prepare them to take into their own hands. Whether it was training those young and upcoming heroes or just teaching or helping someone younger than him in general, Kugo had dedicated himself to this purpose.
The other and main reason why the children's fear of him saddened him was because he one day hoped to be a parent. Perhaps he yearned to be a father because he did not have one of his own. It wasn't as if Kugo felt bad about this fact as orcas where matrilineal by nature and his mother was a very important part of his life. She, because of issues finding a partner due to her mutant appearance, had opted for artificial insemination to bear him and between her and his grandparents he never felt unwanted or unloved for having no father figure.
Kugo had been devastated when he lost his mother. He had been the same when his grandparents had passed but they died of old age as opposed to when his mother later was killed in a villain attack. That event had led him to being a hero and, now, he was finding that the influence of his mother was even stronger than he could have known at that time.
For as much as he wished to be a parent, If Kugo had a child, by blood or otherwise, he would want them to have a mother figure no matter what. He knew that wasn't a requirement to raise a child well but he wished for his future child to have a mother like his own. However, life was unexpected and fast which sometimes required you to make a choice. He had responded to a break in call, at his own aquarium no less, and what did he find but a little girl standing alone in front of one of the largest displays.
She couldn't have been more than 6 or so and her skin was so pale that it was almost pure white. What appeared to be small, red tinted, frilled, gills peeked around her neck just behind her messy dark green hair. Round but bright green eyes stared with marvel through the glass as her little hands pressed against the pane as if she couldn't get close enough to the creatures behind it. What stood out most though was the 6 other black hands that joined them. The shadowy appendages extended from her back and they wriggled about, reminding him of the way seaweed swayed, in a deformed state as the hands were much larger and devilish in shape. Kugo heard the little girl gasp in wonder as a large fish passed by and he spotted her sharp, multi-rowed, teeth. Not wishing to startle her he approached carefully and quietly coughed as he neared her.
"I like that one too," he commented but the girl didn't react to him immediately.
"I's cool," she suddenly said back to him, still staring, and the whale man knelt down beside her.
"What do you think about those ones?" he asked, pointing at a school of fish glittering as they swirled about, and the girl nodded her head.
"They're funny," she remarked, this time actually looking towards him, and Kugo noticed that her stare was almost as if she was asking what else he knew.
He continued pointing things out and explaining them when she asked questions and perhaps Kugo had already known at the time that this would be one of the most important moments in his life. Not even a few months later he would have his next fateful encounter with a former rifle wielding heroine a few years his senior.
You saw correctly, I had an idea that actually revolved around a M/F pairing.
Kaina seems to be close in age to Kugo as her age is listed as late 30's while Kugo is 35. This premise would instead have Kaina as someone who quit heroics early into her whole downward spiral. This would also be featuring a child Izumi with a mutation quirk that's slightly based on the frilled shark as well as some other stuff that I'm still debating on.
This would definitely be a family fic and I feel like I'm only able to do this because I really like Gang Orca. Otherwise I wouldn't actually write a main M/F pairing.
Not sure if I'll go anywhere with this but I found it interesting enough to post here.
