This is actually a continuation of the previous chapter. Knuckles and Shadow head to Scourge's place to rescue Tails. But rescuing someone from Scourge is harder than you think.
Back home, Sonic was still in his room looking at some photos of him and Tails. He tears run down his cheeks as he looked through them.
Sonic: I-I miss you, Lil bro. Where are you?
Shadow: Sonic?
Sonic turned around to see Shadow standing in the doorway.
Sonic: Shadow? Did you find him?
Shadow: I'm sorry. Not yet.
Sonic: Oh...
Shadow: But I did find this. Miles has been kidnapped. By Scourge.
Sonic: What?! But what if he hurts him?! I'll never see him again!
Just then, Sonic started to cry. But Shadow quickly pulled him into a hug and wiped his tears.
Shadow: Don't cry, Sonic.
Sonic: [Crying] S-Shads.
Shadow: We'll rescue him and bring him back. I promise.
A little while after Shadow left, Sonic had cried himself to sleep. Shadow on the other hand, went to Knuckles' room and knocked on his door. Of course Knuckles didn't answer at first so he tried again. And this time he answered.
Knuckles: Shadow?
Shadow: I need your help to save Miles, Knuckles.
Knuckles: Wait. Just Knuckles? What happened to Knucklehead?
Shadow: Please just help me. I promise Sonic I'd save him and I can't take seeing him broken.
Knuckles: Hm. Ok fine. I'll help you. But only because Tails is my friend too.
So later on that evening, Shadow and Knuckles rushed of to Scourge's place. When they finally arrived they could hear screaming and crying from inside.
Shadow: He's in there. Come on.
Knuckles quickly grabbed Shadow's arm and pulled him back.
Knuckles: Wait! We need a plan first.
Shadow: Don't worry. I already have an idea. You're stronger than I am, so you distract Scourge and I'll find Miles.
Knuckles: Right!
They both ran towards the entrance and burst through the door when the heard the screams again they knew it was Tails. Just then, Scourge came in the room.
Scourge: What are you two doing here?
Knuckles: What have you done with our friend?!
Scourge: That's none of your business.
Shadow: You've made a mistake, faker! He's coming home with us!
Scourge: You'll have to get passed me first.
Knuckles: You're on.
He ran up to Scourge and the two started beating each other. It was crazy. Luckily, that gave Shadow the chance to sneak passed them and into the room where Tails was. When he walked inside, he could hear the screams and cries much clearer. He found Tails in a corner of the room curled up with his tails wrapped around him as he cried like crazy.
Shadow: Miles!
Tails turned to see Shadow walking towards him. He was terrified but relieved to see him. Without saying a words, he wrapped his arms around him. His face red with tears.
Tails: [Sobbing] S-Shadow! I-I'm s-scared!
Shadow: Sh Sh Shhhh...it's ok. Don't cry, Miles. I'm here now.
Tails: [Sobbing] I-I was just sleeping l-last night, and...an-and...
He couldn't finish his sentence since he had a hard time breathing. Shadow reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a handkerchief he carried with him and wiped Tails' tears. After a few minutes, Tails calmed down enough to talk a little bit.
Shadow: Feel better?
Tails: [Sniff] Y-Yeah. I just wanna get out of here.
Shadow wrapped his jacket around Tails and walked him out the room. When they got back upstairs, they found Scourge passed out on the floor. Knuckles stood before him with a few scratches. He was shocked to see the state Tails was in.
Knuckles: Tails! Are you alright?
Tails just held his head down in fear. He just wanted to be in his big brother's arms and out of Scourge's house.
Shadow: He'll be fine. Come on. Let's get outta here before this faker wakes up.
They all finally went home and found Sonic waiting on the couch. He turned around and gasped when he saw Tails. Tails just teared up again and started shaking.
Tails: S-S-Sonic?
Sonic just smiled and opened his arms.
Sonic: C'mere, lil bro.
Tails ran up to him and hugged him in tears. He was so relieved to see Sonic again. Sonic was just as relieved to see Tails uhramed apart from many scratched and bruises. Knuckles and Shadow left the room to give the two brothes time alone.
Tails: [Crying] Sonic! I-I missed you! S-Scourge tried to...
Sonic: Shhhh...I know. I know. You're safe now, buddy.
An hour later, Sonic went upstair to find Shadow looking outside. he wrapped his arms around him from behind.
Shadow: Sonic?
Sonic: Shadow. Thank you.
Shadow: Heh. Don't mention it, Sonic.
