Terry Boot was a Ravenclaw who had lived through The Battle of Hogwarts.

One thing that always bothered about the text of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was the reference to "Fifty others who had died fighting him."

Terry hated seeing people who had paid the ultimate price of the defeat of Lord Voldemort generically grouped together like that.

He couldn't honor all of them, but he could honor one of them.

One of the fifty unnamed causalities of The Battle of Hogwarts was a boy in the year below Terry, Jameer Howard, who had been a Ravenclaw prefect.

Jameer was one of the brave students who had chosen to stay and fight against Voldemort, in sharp contrast to someone like Zacharias Smith, had shoved first years out of his way to evacuate himself.

There came a time when Jameer saw something that caught his attention.

He'd set a jet of green emanating from the Elder Wand and had jumped in front of it, sacrificing himself so that another may live.

Terry later found out that the person Jameer had saved by sacrificing himself was Terry's BFF, Anthony Goldstein, who he had been Besties with since they first met on the Hogwarts Express.

This had a profound impact on Terry, knowing that his BFF, his Bestie, was still alive because of another Ravenclaw's self-sacrifice.

Those who had seen it happen always said that it looked like Jameer had acted on instinct. It was his natural reaction to defend a fellow Ravenclaw even at the cost of his own life. He was going to look after his family no matter what.

Terry had to respect that. He felt in an induvial sense of gratitude towards Jameer for saving Anthony and a broader respect for Jameer's sense of duty and his pure selflessness.

That popped into Terry's mind as he sat in his hot tub, thinking about what he would name his son, who was due in a dozen days.

As a sense of reflection washed over Terry, he thought to himself, "I can pay tribute to Jameer by naming my son after him."

And that was pretty much it.

Terry had a wonderful opportunity to pay tribute to a hero unknown to most of the public, but who had laid down his own life for Anthony's.

A bit of solitary quiet reflection in his hot tub had led Terry down this road and it was a one way street.

Many heroes would be forgotten over time, hell, many already had been.

But, by naming his son Jameer, Terry felt in his own mind that he could at least try to keep a piece of Jameer's memory alive.

When his son became old enough to attend Hogwarts, Terry would ask him to explain to people why his father had named him Jameer so as to spread the word about Jameer Howard's great act of heroic sacrifice.

As his son came into the world a dozen days later, Terry said softly, "Jameer Boot, your name is wonderful tribute to a brave boy who saved my best friend."
