A/N: Since Jin wears his sleepwear to make differences in wearing his main outfit during flashbacks when he tells Rhima the whole story which happens to be in Tekken 8 Story Mode. This is the first part of this chapter that involves in the Story Mode from chapters 2 and 4. This is Chapter 38, readers and have a good reading.

Chapter 38: The Eighth Tournament: Part 1

"It was one week after I was overpowered by Kazuya with his devil powers during our fight in the destruction of New York and his announcement of the eighth tournament. Thanks to Alisa, who saved me from getting buried in a rubble and they gave me a bed rest for a week." Jin explained in a deep tone of his voice. "I was unflinched when my evil father had announced that tournament until Lars came to see me by testing my strength after recovering for a week."

Flashback:

"Let's see how stiff you got during your recovery."

"Come on, just try and kill me." Jin said becoming confident to fight as Lars replies.

"Show me your resolve."

Both men had sparring each other move from move and Jin gets the upper hand first, making Lars impressed him over his fighting ability.

"Not too shabby. Your movements aren't bad... Still... Something feels off..."

Both men continued sparring but now it was very intense. Despite beating Lars in the spar, Jin became tired. It reveals that Lee has been recording their sparring fight.

"I fear I bring poor tidings, you two."

"What is it, Lee?" Lars asked plainly and Lee answers regarding about Jin's current state during his spar with Lars.

"Jin, I'm afraid you've shown diminished apititude in all areas: strength, reaction time, you name it."

Both men looked at him as Lee tells him.

"It's almost like I'm looking at a completely different person."

Jin was frustrated after hearing of Lee's word and Lars convinces him to show his devil powers.

"Come on, Jin! Show me that devil power of yours."

Jin tries to utilize his devil powers, remembering the time he was overpowered by his own father Kazuya during their first climatic bout, but fails when he almost collapses in a weak state. He looked at his right hand and noticing that he lost his devil powers.

"I can't...turn into a devil?"

Flashback over:

"I guess both Lars and Mr. Lee are mostly concerned about your health, Jin." Rhima said knowing of his current state and she states about him. "You should be happy if you're free from your devil side when losing your powers."

"I don't think so, Rhima-san." Jin answered about her statement and sighs. "When Lee mentions about my apititude getting diminished and that's what it makes of me, losing my light and becoming weak. Alisa had spoken to me about me being the hope for everyone, it's more like a savior to save everybody within this world that I currently lived in and that's what it leads me to do, to participate in the eighth tournament that Kazuya had announced while trying to reclaim my devil powers. Once I reclaimed my powers, I would gladly to take him with me in Hell."

"So what happened in the preliminaries? I wanted to know what happened."

Jin reveals to bring his tablet and he put it on a flashlight mode to light themselves and tells her.

"You want to know what happened in the preliminaries. Since I don't speak to anyone when I'm very focused on the tournament I was in, most fighters are confident enough to get through the elimination rounds and for me, I actually reached the semi-finals."

"Aside from you, who's with you at the semi-finals?"

"Hmmm, it was Reina, Hwoarang, me and the random guy." Jin said confirming of who had reached the semi-finals.

"Wow... that was nice."

"I prepared this for six days to reach this. But on the first semi-final round, Hwoarang easily beat the guy and put him on top 4." Jin said knowingly his preparation of the tournament.

"How did you met Reina, Jin? Ever since I beat her earlier, she became very nice and very evil. It's like she eager to know more information from me about living in the real world." Rhima asked Jin in how he had met Reina in the tournament.

Jin remembers in how he had met Reina in the tournament since he doesn't speak so much to anybody.

Flashback:

"My name is Reina. it's a pleasure to meet someone from Mishima Polytechnic who is a grad." Reina finally introduces herself to Jin and she continued speaking to him. "I'm currently studied at the same school and I've heard many things about you, Jin-senpai."

Jin simply ignores her whenever she introduces herself and she states.

"Oh my, are you ignoring me, or what? You know what? If I win the next battle then, we're gonna meet... You and me! And I don't intend to lose. So you better take it into consideration."

Jin just briefly looked at her and he continues to walk away dismissively despite showing her cheerful side which is actually a facade for her.

Flashback over:

"When I first met Reina, she was very cheerful just like Xiao and she was currently studying at the Mishima Polytechnic. She'd even think of me as a graduate student on that school but I see through her deceptions because she was very pretentious and she knew that I was already a high school drop out. Like my other friends, I simply ignored them because I was more focus on getting through the finals."

"It's pretty weird of you, Jin. You keep ignoring them when they tried to speak with you. You're such a loner." Rhima reacted to his actions only for Jin to retort.

"I'm not like that, Rhima-san. I do this because I was more serious and focus at the time. I can only speak when I recognized any moves involved on Mishima-Style Fighting Karate."

"..."

"I easily figured it out when she utilizes one of the Mishima-Style moves. Not just her actual fighting style but her actions and demeanor are a lot like my late grandfather, Heihachi and she continues to pummel me to make my blood boil." Jin said in a serious tone and another flashback occur when he finally faces her in the second round during the semi-finals.

Flashback:

Jin was knocked away by Reina's assault. He soon stands up and recognizing her moves resembling to his late grandfather Heihachi. Only for Reina to taunt him evilly.

"What's wrong? Did you just see a ghost or something?"

Have a taste of the technique that caused your awakening.

Reina tries to attack him while also displaying her Thunder God Fist and the fight continues. Their fight was rough and Reina attempts to attack him one last time. She smacks him in the face, causing him to unleash his devil powers and executing his Laser Cannon, almost knocking her out. Jin was exhausted when he inhibits his devil powers as the devil tattoo on his forehead disappears. Reina finally realized about her original plan was fighting them in order to unlock her powers, thinking it was her devil powers like Jin's.

It appears that the threat of death is the key to the devil's power. Now that's amusing...

"Ouch ouch... I give up. I surrender!" Reina pretends to get injured from Jin, leading him to pass this round and soon faces Hwoarang on the last round of the semi-finals.

Flashback over:

"As soon as she's about to defeat me when she literally smacked me in the face, but my devil powers was briefly unleashed and striking her with my Laser Cannon just to hold her back, I was so desperate not to lose, but Reina surrendered the match causing me to advance at the last round of the semi-finals and I had no clue why she was surrendered the match by trying to pretend that she was hurt from me."

When Jin defended me from Reina earlier, he is able to knock her out with one Lightning God Fist. But in an actual tournament, she surrendered the match by pretending she was hurt from him. It looks like Jin is bypassing his opponents in the tournament because of his devil powers. In real-life, I never cheated when I played as him on the game. About Reina, I knew she was very pretentious to most Mishima and Kazama clan and she has reasons to spare me for her recent actions and both her pretentious and evil behavior because I easily know about her real secret.

"I think of why she acted the old bastard's demeanor towards you, Jin. Because I easily figured it out about her secret and why everyone are so mysterious to her." Rhima easily pointing out about Reina's secret which Jin responds.

"What are you implying about, Rhima-san?"

"When I mentioned about my aunt in the real world, Reina was surprisingly shocked because I knew. She shows this to you because she was family related. Like a younger aunt who is eager to fight towards a very serious and focused older nephew of hers."

Jin horribly gasped when she gave him a short hint of his family relation to Reina which he tells her.

"That will never happen if I learned she was my real aunt all along. And also Rhima-san. Lee had already detected when he had spoken to Alisa about Reina. She was actually an assassin for G Corporation who disguises herself as a student from Mishima Polytechnic and she was not an enrollee like other new students who wanted to study there. However, she decided to sided with us because she had wanted to face Kazuya for personal reasons and I don't even know what's she planning to do. I sensed that she also has devil powers like me and Kazuya and she wants to unlock it by fighting either of us."

"So what happens in the last round of the semi-finals. I think Hwoarang is doing his best to break your draw from him whenever you and him are fighting."

"Apparently, my fight with Hwoarang was more exciting and intense. Because he likes to hype up all the audience to see our fight."

Flashback:

"Come at me with everything you've got!"

Hwoarang smirks at his rival and their fight was on. They exchange their blows and Jin has the upper hand but Hwoarang does not given up by doing Frogman and goes for a kick and Jin noticed this.

My body is on fire. This heat... When did I forget it?

Jin inhibits his devil transformation by showing the devil tattoo on his forehead and knocks him with one punch as Hwoarang blocks it.

"No way... This isn't all you got, is it?!"

The fight continued since Jin had unleashed his devil powers and it was a valor fight between the rivals. The fight ends when Jin charges at Hwoarang by unleashing his 10-hit combo from his old fighting style. Despite Hwoarang tries to block Jin's Lightning Uppercut, it was powerful enough to knock him down embedded with a red lightning making him reach through the finals of the tournament.

"And the winner is: Jin Kazama! He will advance to the finals tournament in Italy."

Jin looked on his right fist and later from his left one as he thought.

This is definitely the devil's power, but I haven't lost myself.

"You got a lucky hit in, that's all." Hwoarang compliments on his rival's abilities and soon tells him. "Yeah, yeah, shut it already."

Hwoarang attempts to ambush him by making a kick only for Jin to block it with his right hand and Hwoarang tells him again.

"Looks like you've been saddled with a weird ass power, Jin Kazama. Still, that's just another part of you. Man, this sucks. Can't believe I lost to such a weakling."

As Hwoarang walks away, Jin seriously looks on his rival and it switches back to where he narrated to Rhima about the entire incident.

Flashback over:

"I respected my rival after I beat him in the last round and its because of my devil powers, he knows that it was another part of me. The finals of the tournament which I had currently won against Hwoarang was held at the colosseum in Rome, Italy. Before the finals, the Kliesens, Niklas and Leo came to see us and he studied about Azazel's connection between me and Kazuya within our devil powers. Before their discussion, Leo spars with me and Lee tells him that I'm no longer the person that I've caused chaos. Because that time, we're going to travel in Italy for the finals of the tournament."

"Jin, I have a question?" Rhima asked which he responds.

"What is it, Rhima-san?"

"Do you like Xiaoyu so much, do you?" Rhima questions him if he likes Xiaoyu which he confirms.

"Uhm... yeah..."

"I was right... I already seen you speaking with her and she was very happy to see you around. I should have listened to my dad about this. There's a lot of cute guys or mestizos or even foreigners in my world that I can find one what is right for me. It's best if you and I we truly get separated." Rhima said sadly because she knows that Jin is very close to Xiaoyu.

"But Rhima-san... She..." Jin said knowing that he was very close to Xiaoyu because she always accompanies him and he finally tells her again. "We became close because at the time, we reunited with each other and it was the reason Zafina tells her to seek out with me."

"..."

"Now at the finals of the tournament, I'm sure others who lost the fight became spectators to see the final eliminations of this tournament we're in. They were promoting us in whoever reach through the finals. I just faced Leroy on that match at the colosseum. They even mentioned me of what I've previously done. Once we face each other he complimented me for standing up against Kazuya. As I beat him, he knew that I used my heart than my strength. As soon as showing my frustration when Kazuya had announced something and Leroy asking me of who I was and I said my full name. Leroy gave me some advice about dealing with my enemy and my own pasts and to believe in myself and looking forward to a better future."

"Mr. Leroy was very nice to you after all. He knows that you're the only person can stop Mr. Mishima." Rhima said complimenting about Leroy's advice.

"Yeah..." Jin smiled nicely to her and he continued to narrate with her. "Outside of the colosseum, both Lars and Victor had met each other to make a truce in order to stop Kazuya and G Corporation and they started the raid of the tournament we're in."

Flashback:

As everyone is evacuated due to the infiltration between the UN and Yggdrasil against Kazuya and G Corporation. It turns out that Kazuya has been plotting the sidelines because he sensed that Zafina is present along with Claudio, Xiaoyu and Panda. He eventually ambushes Zafina within his devil form and was witnessed by the trio in which he had choked Zafina in the neck.

"You've come of your own volition? A fool to the end."

As Jin arrives, he witnessed Kazuya extracts Zafina using the dark haze in order to break the forbidden seal and siphoning her left arm to awaken Azazel. Kazuya throws her in the air only for Jin to catch her on time as he and Xiaoyu were reunited.

"Zafina! Jin!"

"Xiaoyu..."

Both were met by both Hwoarang, Lili and Asuka after seeing what Kazuya had done to Zafina.

"Yo! What's the deal here!"

"Jin! Jin Kazama! Return to the point of origin... In the place this all began, you must overcome great difficulty. That will show you the way. A path to finally purge you of evil." Zafina said while in a weakening state.

"This is where it all began from me... Yakushima?" Jin remembers that he was raised by his mother Jun at the Yakushima Island and Zafina continues to tell him before passes out.

"You will be a shining star of hope for everyone..."

"Zafina?! Speak to me, Zafina!" Xiaoyu tries to wake Zafina up, but to no avail due to her being passed out and Lili came to see them both.

"You mentioned Yakushima before... If we have to go. I shall have my private jet prepare for takeoff at once."

Jin angrily clenches his fist for what happened to Zafina only to be stop by Claudio by putting his right hand on his right fist and tells him.

"You must survive. For this world, and for those whom I treasure."

"Claudio... So even the Italian's come to play." Victor arrives along with Alisa, Lars, Lee and Reina and Alisa warns Lars while she pointed out the dark sky and Devil Kazuya.

"Lars! An incredible amount of energy is accumulating in the skies overhead!"

Devil Kazuya looks on while in airborne and seeing that he's trying to summon Azazel from the dark clouds.

"Come, Azazel! Awaken from your slumber!"

The beast emerges from the dark power orb within the dark clouds and finally face off the fighters. Lars realizes that it was Kazuya's plan all along by resurrecting Azazel the entire time.

"Kazuya was looking to resurrect Azazel this whole time?!" Lars exclaimed angrily as Reina had thought of this.

Well, well... So that's the original devil, huh? This is going to be fun.

"O irksome servant. Allow me to reward your labors. You shall have the honor of becoming a part of me." Azazel finally faces Devil Kazuya who also states.

"I believe you're gravely mistaken. It is you who shall become a part of me!"

"Such foolish aspirations... You shall know your place!"

"I'll make you choke on the entirety of my power!" Kazuya in his devil form is ready to face the beast.

The fight is tremendous despite the difficulty, he has the upper hand against the beast. Azazel sees his power and states.

"You indeed have power befitting your ambitions. Yet such power is a mere trifle before my own!"

Azazel roars to show his power in front of Devil Kazuya and the fight continues which he also states.

"This power belongs in my hands!"

After a long fight, Devil Kazuya is able to fight off Azazel by blocking his claw and grabbing its tail which it attempted to make a tail slap at him. He makes a giant swing over the beast. As soon as he throws him airborne, Devil Kazuya destroys it with one single punch with a blue lightning embedded in it and Azazel explodes in a black and purple smoke. Everyone including Jin had witnessed the fight and to see the dark clouds and it clears to see Devil Kazuya had finally assimilated Azazel's powers to his true devil state known as True Devil Kazuya.

Flashback over:

Jin became frustrated since he was the first person to destroy the beast. But not realizing that his own father Kazuya is able to destroy it as well but to assimilate the beast's powers into his own.

"I was the first person who destroyed Azazel and I thought that I would be freed from my devil within me, but I was wrong. I never thought Kazuya would have gone so far as to assimilate Azazel's powers into his own. I'm glad that a lot of people who truly cares for me and Claudio had already told me to go to the Yakushima Island while I can and they are stalling time for me to go while they battle Kazuya in his true devil state."

"I can't believe it... I've never seen Mr. Mishima would do all of this. Even my dad beat him in his normal devil form once and now he can't beat it with this." Rhima said also showing frustrations and Jin gazes at her and said.

"He's no match for him if he fought him, Rhima-san. It would be a death of him."

"Now I finally understand you now, Jin. All the things happened to you back then. Even Zafina would even tell you to go back to your home island and I ever seen she had passed out from getting extracted and breaking the forbidden seal within her and siphoning Azazel's powers. I think maybe because you were the key to my mission that propels a mystic force within you."

"You finally guessed it, Rhima-san... and this is how of what I've been through at my home island because I was facing my devil side alone but before that Lars and the others are buying time for me, Xiao, Panda, Asuka and Lili to go to my home island by taking her private jet so that Kazuya won't get close to me." Jin said calmly while closing his eyes and Rhima now learns of what happened to his world.

Meanwhile, Reina continues to walk off while being forcibly accompanied by Lee to find both Jin and Rhima.

"I actually sensed their presence. Where are they?"

"I guess your impish behavior really gets on my nerves. It seems that you have plans..." Lee said sarcastically until Reina attempts to attack him with a Thunder God Fist which he dodges and tries to throw a Combat Grenade. Only for Reina to kick back at him to make a flash, blinding him.

"I think I gave up searching for the smarty lady. I have plans of my own, sorry."

Reina eventually escapes as the flash finally worn off and Lee noticed she was gone.

"Drat! She's really a brat! Oh well... I guess that I will be the one to fetch these two again."

With this, Lee decided to find both Jin and Rhima, alone.
