Chapter 2: The Animals:

Shu's POV:

We then arrived at the race.

"This is in the bag for me," says this rabbit, "I'm Tuzi, but you can call me the winner!"

Then something wrapped around him. "Nothing's worse than an arrogant bunny," says this snake, "I am She!"

"She," asks Tuzi, "what? Your parents were sexist or so..." She then throws Tuzi.

We then heard some barking. "Sorry, I'm just excited. I'm Gou and I love running around!"

"Same here," says this horse, "I'm Ma!"

We then heard a growl. "You are all my competition," asks this tiger, "I'm Mu Laohu!"

I looked at Mao and it looked like he was in love with that tiger.

"Hey, you guys here for the race too," asks this monkey, "I'm Hou!"

"This looks like a random group," says a sheep, "I'm Yang."

"Anyone know where the buffet is," asks a pig, "I'm Zhu."

"Excuse me," says a rooster, "hi, I'm really nervous. I'm Gongji."

We then smelled something. "Sorry," says this ox, "I'm Niu."

Then we saw a large beast. It was a dragon.

"Everyone, be calm," says Gongji.

"I am Long..."

"IT'S A DRAGON," shouts Gongji, "IT'S GONNA EAT US!"

"No, I am here for the race," says Long.

"You want to race," asks Mao.

"Why not," asks Long, "if any creature should be in the zodiac, it must be a dragon!"

Then the Jade Emperor came. "Welcome, Rat, Cat, Rabbit, Snake, Dog, Horse, Tiger, Monkey, Sheep, Pig, Rooster, Ox, and Dragon! I am glad to see you have all agreed to this race. The first to cross the finish line shall be the first in line, but there is one thing you must know... there is only room for twelve!"

"What," asks Mao.

"That means if one of us doesn't win..." I began.

"Well, I refuse to be in the zodiac without my best friend, just as I'm sure you feel the same way, Shu," says Mao.

"Awe, that's so sweet," says Mu Laohu.

Mao then blushed. "So... maybe after the race, you and I can get a bite to eat... not as a date... it's because... I'm inviting you all for a bite!"

"Sounds good to me," says Long.

"I can eat," says Zhu.

Mao has this 'what have I done look' in his face.

. . .

We then walked to the starting line. "On your mark," says the Jade Emperor, "get set... go!"

And we were off!
