Chapter 9: Quit Monkeying Around:

Hou's POV:

We were still racing, but I decided to have some fun. I found some bananas and after eating the bananas, I threw the peels, causing the others to slip.

"What was that," asks Mao.

"It's that monkey," says Long.

"Are you trying to cheat," asks Ma.

"Relax," I said, "it was just a joke!"

"Your pranks are going to get you in serious trouble," says Gou.

"Paranoid, much," I asked. I then started swinging.

. . .

I was going through the trees, but then I realized I got lost. "Whoops," I said, "guess I'll have to find the others." I then started swinging again.

. . .

I then found some sort of temple. "I wonder what's going on here," I asked. I then took a look and found a group of monks. They were worshipping this statue of a turtle. I then decided to have some fun. I snuck behind the turtle.

"Sacred Turtle, please, answer our calls!"

"I hear you," I said.

"Sacred Turtle?"

"Yes, and you have disturbed my rest, so as punishment, you must sacrifice your leader!"

The other monks then chased after the leader, and I laughed.

. . .

I then found a farm. I saw a scarecrow, so I decided to take the scarecrow's clothes and freaked out the couple. I made them think their scarecrow was alive. They then ran. I laughed again.

. . .

I then found a village and I saw the Elder's daughter. She was sleeping, so I drew a mustache on her. Everyone saw and I laughed. Then a man grabbed me and pointed to a sign that says: "没有恶作剧!" (No Pranks).

. . .

I ran and the villagers chased me.

. . .

I then got back to the others. "So... back to the race," I asked. I think it's time I took a break from pranks for a while.
