Sora and Venus McFlytrap

"Please help clean up the beach!" Venus says to a passing monster, only to ignore her flyers.

The Plant ghoul is currently at the Maul trying to gather enough volunteers to clean up the local beach. It used to be a beautiful beach, but recent trips show the lack of care put into it.

Venus spots another monster heading her way. She was quick to rush to them. "Will you help clean the beach? Nature gives so much to us. Don't you think it's about time we give back to Nature?"

The monster takes one of the flyers before walking, bringing hope to the ghoul's eyes. That hope is soon shattered as she sees the same monster briefly glancing at the flyer before crumbling and tossing it next to the trash.

The Plant ghoul lets out a huff as she approaches the trash and recycling bin. Just as Venus was near, a stray football knocked over the bins, scattering their contents.

"Hey!" the green ghoul shouts at a small group of young goblins who quickly grabbed the ball and ran off. "We must treat Nature with respect!" Venus then sighs as she gets down to pick up the trash. She's angered even further as the ghoul takes note that none of it was even separated.

She is then startled by a familiar voice. "They could have at least cleaned up their mess."

Looking up, Venus sees the spikey haired Normie. "You would think, Sora," the ghoul continues the cleanup.

Sora kneels next to her to assist. "It's not like it takes much effort to throw items in the correct bin."

"I know, right!" Venus nearly shouts. "But it seems that monsters don't understand that we rely on Nature, that we need her. However! Nature does not need any of us. So many take and take from Nature without contributing anything in return. Is it really that much trouble just to spend time to help Nature?"

The Normie nods. "You can't know how high a sycamore grows if it is cut it down," he picks up and uncrumples the flyer that Venus was passing out.

"Exactly!"

The boy then waves the flyer. "May I?"

"Of course!" the ghoul beams. "Every help counts. You will help, right?"

Sora gives Venus a goofy smile. "You can count on me!"

A Few Days Later

When Venus first got up, she was in a great mood as it was the day of the cleanup. She quickly jumped out of bed and threw on some shorts and a t-shirt over her swimsuit, grabbed the tools for her job and rushed down to her destination.

But when the ghoul arrived at the beach, there was no other monster there. Nor was a certain Normie present.

The Plant ghoul waited at least twenty minutes before releasing a sad sigh. Figures she'd be the only one doing this.

Venus turns towards the beach to see all the scattered trash across what once was beautiful sand that leads to what should have been a sparkling ocean. But there's even large amounts of litter flowing in the waters.

The ghoul takes one step towards what could have easily been a team effort taking only a few hours that will now take more than a week. She stops when a voice shouts.

"Hey!"

Facing the direction of the shout, Venus spots Sora riding on the back of the Headmistress' horse, Nightmare.

"Sora!?"

The boy then pulled on the reigns to bring the stead to a sudden stop in front of the ghoul. "Thanks for the lift, Nightmare," he pats the horse on her head before hopping down. "Let Bloodgood know that I'll be home this evening."

The horse lets out a neigh just before taking off.

The Normie turns to the ghoul, smiling. He ditched his usual outfit for a white t-shirt, red swim trunks, and blue and yellow sandals. "Sorry for being late. I ended up oversleeping."

Venus blinks before smiling. "I've heard you do that a lot," the ghoul hands him a poker and a bag. "I'm just glad that I'm not doing this alone."

Sora tilts his head before overlooking the beach. "Where's everyone else?"

The Plant Monster sighs and starts saying. "There is no one—" she is stopped by a series of honking.

A bus pulls up to the beach, the doors open, and Mr. Hackington steps off. "All right, all right! We're here. Now. Off my bus! Otherwise, it's double homework next week!" the Mad Scientist shouts.

Out of the vehicle are several students from Monster High. All decked out in beach clothing.

"And if you're lucky, I'll be back before the sunsets," Hackington cackles before getting back on the bus and taking off.

Venus marvels at everyone who showed up. from the Fear Squad to the Casketball and SKRM team and many others from the school. "Not that I'm not grateful," the Plant ghoul gets a hug from Batsy. "But what are you doing here? I thought everyone was busy."

Clawd walks up to them with Draculaura on his arm. "When Sora cancelled on us for a game session, we asked why. After telling us what he was doing we decided to tag along."

The Vampire nods. "And when all the guys started to reschedule our dates, and we found out what's going on. How could we possibly say no to helping a fellow ghoulfriend?"

Then, Lagoona walks up to them. "After that, word just sorta gotten around, Love. Before we knew it, everyone was volunteering."

The Plant Monster was touched by all the help she is receiving. That feeling is momentarily broken by Heath shouting, "Beach Day!"

The Fire Elemental rushes towards the water only to be stopped by icy cold hands grabbing his ear. "Clean first," Abbey sternly tells him. "Then fun at beach."

"Ow, ow, ow! Okay, okay!" Heath relents.

It took less than two hours before the beach was finally cleaned up. All the sand has been cleared of litter and the debris removed from the water. Because of everyone's hard work, all the bins are now full and ready for pick up.

Now, everyone is relaxing on the same beach.

"Don't forget to treat Nature with kindness!" Venus shouts from her towel.

"We won't!" Frankie shouts before running off with Neighthan.

The Plant ghoul smiles before noticing Sora claiming the spot next to her. "Thank you," Venus smiles at him.

The boy blinks as he tilts his head. "For what?"

"For agreeing to this," she waves across the beach. "Without you, I doubt any of these monsters would have showed up."

"I don't know about that."

The ghoul turns to him. "What do you mean?"

Sora looks among the gathered Monsters. "I may have unintentionally rallied everyone but in the end," he turns to smile at Venus. "They all came here for you. Because they found out their friend needed help."

Venus looks over at her friends then back at the Normie with his goofy grin. The ghoul then smiles herself. "Well, I'm just glad that you're among them."

"I'll always be willing to help. No matter what."

The Plant Monster's smile only grew as she soon finds herself leaning into the boy's side.

At first, Sora was confused but welcomed the ghoul either way as the two remained there, enjoying a job well done.

End

NOTE: What better way to do a save the Earth short than to use one of Monster High's top Nature Lover herself. It didn't start that way but I will not deny that's how it turned out. Probably should have saved it for Earth Day. But Venus was one of those ghouls teased from the Lilith entry and I felt obligated to write this.
