While Ben fought the other guilds, his teammates fought their own guild mates. So these were more sparring sessions than real fights. They still need to fight seriously because this is a competition.
Mira is facing Erza, Laxus is facing Natsu and Gajeel, Freed is facing Gray and Cana is facing Lucy. The Fairy Tail B members are very right now. The members of Fairy Tail A on the other hand are quite tense and very serious about this.
Their opponents are the guild's S-Class mages while the only active S-Class mage on their team is Erza since Kenshin was a reserve member. Mira was the one who faced Erza because they had been rivals for years. This was the battle between the Demon Mirajane and Titania Erza.
"It's been a long time since we fought each other, hasn't it?" Mira asked.
"Yeah, the last time we fought was 4 years ago, before you were pregnant. I couldn't defeat you since I returned from Tenrou Island. I really wanted to fight you again, but I couldn't since you were pregnant, and then you needed to take care of your children." Erza answered.
"You could've challenged me when I started taking jobs again." Mira pointed out.
"No, it wouldn't be fair because you were still in the process of regaining your power after resting for a long time while I never did any training." Erza responded.
"It would seem you're looking down on me." Mira said with a smile.
"N-no, that's not what I mean. I just want a fair fight between of us in our best condition." Erza stammered.
"Fu fu fu, is that so? Then I guess I should give it my all to respect your wish." Mira said.
"That's what I was hoping for. I will not hold back Mira. Second Origin Release!" Erza shouted releasing her Second Origin right off the bat.
Erza's magic power spiked as she released her saved magic power. Second Origin is a newly discovered second magic power container in mages' bodies. They can choose to open it at all times or save the magic power for use later to greatly increase their power for a short time.
Erza chose to save it for later and used it now during her battle with Mira. She knew that she couldn't hold back while fighting Mira otherwise she would lose. There's no point fighting Mira with normal methods because she knew she couldn't win without using her Second Origin.
After releasing her Second Origin, Erza used her Requip Magic and donned her Nakagami Armor. It's a very strong armor that required the activation of Second Origin just to don it. She held a halberd that was paired with her Nakagami Armor.
"As I expected from you Erza, you've unlocked your Second Origin. That armor also looks very strong and sexy. Then I won't hold back either." Mira said as white light started to cover her body.
Mira activated Satal Soul and changed into her Sitri form. It was the form she used to one shot Jenny and at the moment it's her strongest form. She can destroy a big city in this form, so it's strong and dangerous.
"Here I come, Mira!" Erza shouted before she dashed towards Mira.
Erza used her halberd for a piercing attack and aimed at Mira's body. She is moving very fast and even strong mages won't be able to evade her attack. However Mira isn't a average strong mage, she is a very strong mage.
Mira caught Erza's halberd with her hard and tough right claw. She wasn't even pushed back by Erza's attack. Erza's eyes widen because she knew that there was a gap between their power levels, but she never imagined it would be this big.
"You really need to see me as your enemy, Erza. If you keep considering me to be a friend in this battle, then you will never win." Mira said in a serious tone.
Mira then punched Erza in the face with her fist and sent Erza flying. She crashed into a building and destroyed it. She can stand up immediately, but her face was bruised and blood dripped from her mouth.
"Come on, Erza! If this is all you've got, then you'll never be able to protect your friends. Do you want a repeat of what happened 7 years ago?" Mira asked with a high tone.
Mira wanted to spark Erza's fighting spirit in this battle. Ben had instructed her and the other team members to do it. The calamity that Atlas Flame informed Ben about is getting closer, so he needs to make his guild mates grow stronger fast.
Erza fell for Mira's taunt and then she remembered what happened 7 years ago. It caused her to become more serious and want to fight Mira as if she was really her enemy. She apologized to Mira for being half-assed even though she said that she would be serious.
Mira smiles and gets ready to fight again when she saw Erza's aura change. Erza charged at her again and now her attacks are getting stronger. She finally got real serious and treated this as a real battle.
As the 2 women fight a very destructive battle, the 3 Dragon Slayers are also destroying their surroundings. Well, it's really Gajeel and Natsu destroying their surroundings with their magic. It wasn't their goal to destroy their surroundings, but Laxus made them do it.
Laxus is calmly redirecting or evading their attacks which made their attacks hit the buildings around them. He also sometimes threw them into the buildings when they attack him at close range. He is playing around with them while they fight him seriously.
Natsu and Gajeel aren't holding back at all, they really intend to beat Laxus up. They can't hit him no matter what they do, though. Laxus wasn't hit by either one of them as he was too fast and he had full control over this battle.
He keeps provoking them and making them angry, which led to them making more mistakes. Their attacks were becoming stronger, but their emotions are getting the best of them and it made their movements predictable. The pair are too hotheaded and it turned into their weakness.
Laxus wants to teach them that they need to stay calm despite being angry. They need to use that anger to fuel their attacks, not become consumed by it. Although he liked teasing, it wasn't his main reason in the slightest.
Freed also overpowered Gray with the same strategy Laxus was using. Unlike Natsu and Gajeel though, Gray can stay calm and make clear judgment despite his anger. It's just that his skills can't reach Freed and he overthinks the situation on occasion.
Gray isn't weak, and in terms of raw power, he's not far behind Freed. Freed's main power though isn't his strength, but his brain. Freed is very smart and he is a good strategist. He can even outsmart Ben a few times during their sparring match, so it is something he needs to be wary of.
That smart brain of his really shined in this battle. Gray had fallen for his traps many times that he had set during their battle. Even though Gray is very tenacious, being hit repeatedly by Freed's traps had taken a toll on his body.
Gray's movements became worse as the battle carried on. It weakened his attacks and he was hit more frequently by Freed's attacks. He had to find a solution quickly or he would lose soon. Of course he wants to win, but the chances of that happening got lower and lower as time flies.
Meanwhile, Lucy was still fine and hadn't been injured. She was also fighting a S-Class, but Cana wasn't taking it seriously at all. Well, this isn't even a real battle, it's more like a game of hide and seek with Cana chasing Lucy who was running and hiding.
Lucy occasionally attacked Cana with her Celestial Spirits, but Cana trapped them in her cards without fighting them. It prevented Lucy from fighting her properly and now she was trying to come up with a way to attack Cana without having her Celestial Spirits trapped in cards, but she still can't figure out a solution.
The members of Fairy Tail A were helpless against Fairy Tail B. Even Erza who was fighting with everything she had still can't match Mira. The gap of power between both teams was clear during these battles, and Ben wasn't with them. Fairy Tail's S-Class mages are definitely a force to be reckoned with.
