"I can see how Kakashi had been hovering over you the past weeks." Genma commented nonchalantly, as they are eating their dinner.

Sakura looked up at Genma, a curious expression on her face. "Hovering? What do you mean?"

Genma chuckled, sipping his tea before elaborating. "He's not letting you out of his eyes, Sakura. Is he trying to court you or something?"

Sakura blinked, surprised by Genma's observation. "I think so. But Genma, I promise I'm not stringing you along."

Genma smiled, his laid-back demeanor in place. "I know, Sakura. But how about you, do you like him in that way?

Sakura sighed, a conflicted expression on her face. "It's complicated, Genma. Kakashi is my superior, and we're navigating our feelings. He's been honest with me, and I appreciate that. But I don't want to rush into anything, especially when we're both in such professional positions."

"That's not what I asked, Sakura." Genma said. "Do you like him?"

Sakura met Genma's gaze, contemplating her feelings. "I... I appreciate Kakashi." She answered but the look on Genma's eyes told her to be honest. "I do. I do like him. I like him so much that I quit my hospital job to be his assistant. To support him."

Genma nodded, his expression understanding. "I figured as much. It's not easy, Sakura. The Hokage position comes with a lot of baggage. But if you like him, and if he's willing to make it work, then I won't stand in your way. I don't usually back down from a chase, but it's Kakashi, and I know him enough that I'll step back for him."

Sakura appreciated Genma's understanding and honesty. The genuine camaraderie they had developed allowed for an open conversation about the complexities of their evolving relationships. As they continued with their dinner, Sakura pondered the intricacies of her connection with both Kakashi and Genma.

Later that evening, after her dinner with Genma, Sakura found herself standing outside Kakashi's office. She took a deep breath, gathering her thoughts, before knocking on the door.

"Hokage-sama," Sakura knocked on his door. "it's Sakura, Kakashi-sama. Can we talk?"

Kakashi looked up from his desk, a mix of surprise and anticipation in his eyes. "Sakura," he greeted, his voice a careful balance of formality and warmth. "Come in."

Sakura entered Kakashi's office, her green eyes meeting his. The air in the room felt charged with unspoken emotions as she took a seat in front of his desk.

"Kakashi."

Kakashi looked up at her when he heard her use his name without the honorific.

Sakura took a deep breath, her gaze unwavering. "I just want to let you know that I love you. And I don't care if you don't, I just want to say that." She rambled. "That's all, Hokage-sama. I'll go."

Kakashi, taken aback by Sakura's unexpected confession, felt a surge of emotions within him. He smiled before he flashed in front of her to stop her from leaving. "Don't go."

Sakura, surprised by Kakashi's sudden movement, looked up at him with a mix of uncertainty and anticipation.

Kakashi's visible eye softened as he regarded her. "Sakura, you don't need to go. You know that I like you, Sakura. You don't have to hide."

Sakura met Kakashi's gaze, her eyes reflecting a mixture of vulnerability and determination. "I know, Kakashi. That is why I told Genma that I love you."

"So you and Genma..."

"We decided not to date each other." Sakura affirmed. "How can I when the reason why I left the hospital is finally seeing me after three years?"

Kakashi, overwhelmed by Sakura's revelation, couldn't contain the mix of emotions welling up within him. He reached out, gently placing a hand on hers. "Sakura, I... I didn't expect this."

Sakura smiled, a hint of nervousness in her eyes. "I didn't expect it either. But I realized that my feelings for you run deeper than I thought. And I didn't want to keep it from you any longer."

Kakashi nodded, a warmth spreading through him. "Does this mean that you're... I mean, we are together now?"

Sakura nodded, a genuine smile on her face. "If that's what you want."

Kakashi's visible eye crinkled at the corners as he returned her smile. "More than anything, Sakura."

As they sat there, hands entwined, the weight of unspoken words lifted from the room. The complexities of their evolving relationship seemed to find a moment of clarity, and a shared understanding filled the space between them.

"I love you." Sakura whispered. And Kakashi smiled at her and pulled her close.
