Hello everyone. I'm happy to be back already. If I remember correctly, my last publication was a month ago. This chapter, in addition to being the last one of this story, is a bit shorter and needed fewer corrections. Thus why it is published so quickly. Thank you readers for reading this story. I hope the ending will satisfy you. Now that this story is over, I'll go back on working on Paw Patrol: pups meet time travelers and Back to the den. Due to lack of time and to avoid stopping writing, I try to write shorter stories and it seems to be working so far.

Now, let's see what happens to our favorite pups. Enjoy.

"Everything's alright Ryder," Chase asked worried when he saw tears roll down the boy's cheek.

"Uh? Oh, yeah," Ryder answered getting rid of the tears. "I know I already said it but I'm just so proud of you, pups, for the way you handled the situation."

"Thanks Ryder," Rocky said, "but I doubt it's over. With everything that was said in the video, I'm sure we are going to hear from people thinking it's all true."

"Probably, but this isn't our only problem" Chase said.

"What do you mean," Skye asked now sitting in front him.

Chase was now in what the team calls detective mode. His eyes looking straight in front of him and filled with concentration as he spoke. "The description the video made of us is false, but look closer at the information it used to prove his points. Most is common knowledge or can easily be found. The rest, however, is private stuff no one outside of us has access to like Zuma's tests or Ryder and Katie texts messages about Rocky homosexuality. Am I the only one thinking something isn't right here?"

"Now that you mention it, I think I recognise a few of the pictures shown," Marshall commented.

Chase nodded before continuing. "The man of the video also said he had a source. Someone who knew us closely which leave us with two possibilities. One, one of us betrayed the team." This earned a gasp from the pups. "I think we all agree this is close to impossible, so we can put that idea at the bottom of our leads." Everyone nodded. "Two, someone among our friends did it. Problem is no one couldt have access to all the information shared. Something is missing here."

"In other words, we have no clue who did it and how," Zuma resumed with an annoyed tone.

Ryder frowned as he was thinking about it too. "For now, but we'll find out. It's been a long eventful night. Let's get some rest. Things will appear clearer in the morning."

"Not before drinking our juices though," Everest said eyeing her bowl.

"Right about that." Rubble stood up and began drinking as fast as he could.

The others smiled a bit before doing the same. Once the bowls were empty and the pups' stomach full, they decided to sleep together in the lobby like they used too when the team was formed. One by one, they quickly fell asleep. Ryder, however, couldn't as he kept thinking about their problems. Finding the person who made the video, discovering where the information he or she disclosed came from and how to protect his dogs from the backlash that would inevitably come. He knew he needed to sleep but couldn't stop his mind from trying to find answers. A flaw he always had, especially when he was facing a situation he didn't know how to solve. As he moved in his sleeping bag, his eyes stopped on the large TV and something suddenly clicked in his mind. Could…Could it be possible°?

(1 hour later)

Katie approached the Lookout, still wondering why Ryder had texted her asking her to come. The front door automatically opened, making a little Ffff sound. Katy winced when she saw the pups sleeping in the lobby, hoping she hadn't awoken them. Fortunately, it wasn't the case. They were all sleeping together in a big pile on some cushions. It was quite the cute sight if you excluded the snoring probably coming from Rubble and Marshall. Even though they had grown a lot since she met them, they still had that cute side she always saw in animals. Being careful to not wake them up, she walked inside the elevator and went to the top floor.

Ding

She walked out to see Ryder sitting on a chair in front of the main screen and walked next to him. On the screen were various windows opened and graphics she didn't understand. Computers and high technology weren't her strong point, but Ryder looked as focused as ever as he looked at them. He didn't even seem to notice her presence, so she coughed to catch his attention.

"Oh Katie, thanks for coming so quickly."

"Of course. What happened? Are the pups alright?"

"They'll be fine. The following weeks will probably be difficult, but we'll get through it."

Katie had a feeling what her boyfriend was talking about. Her assumptions were proven right when he showed her the web page on which was published the video. Under it stood the comment section. Ryder slowly scrolled down allowing Katie to read the comments. She frowned in anger. While a few people were defending the Paw Patrol and a few more were questioning if the video was telling the truth, the majority were either insulting the pups in every way possible or expressing their disappointment and disgust. Someone even created a petition for the disbandment of the team.

"You got to be kidding me."

"I wish," Ryder answered with a tired sigh. "Sadly, I can't say I'm surprised by this kind of behavior on social medias. And it's my fault."

Katie looked at him. "What? How could this be your fault?"

Ryder pressed a few buttons on his keyboard and a new window appeared. This one was red with several icons and numbers on it. In the middle stood the inscription Error G76: unknown user detected-system compromised written in white.

"You were hacked," Katie asked shocked.

"A month ago, yes, and I didn't notice anything until I searched tonight." Ryder slammed his fists on the dashboard. "How could I not notice it!" He buried his head in his hands, his shame and pain obvious in his words as he spoke. "You should have seen the pups tonight. How this video brought back painful memories for them. I could have prevented it if I had paid more attention."

It hurt Katie to see him like that. Ryder always was the calm and collected type of guy who thought things through before acting. Very few things could get make him lose control of his emotions. Hurting his dogs was one of them. Gently, she placed her hand on his shoulder.

"Maybe, but no one can think of everything constantly. You already spend all your time leading the Paw Patrol to help people. So, I don't want to see you blaming yourself."

Ryder chuckled. "I'll try my best."

Bip-bip. Bip-bip.

"What was that," Katie asked suddenly worried.

"It worked," Ryder proclaimed happily as he resumes tipping on his keyboard once again. "I tracked him down."

"The person who hacked you and made the video? Ryder, that is great."

"We don't know if they are the same person yet, but yeah it is. There's just one obstacle left. Our culprit hid behind a long series of tower relays around the word, and I managed to find the last one. Once I cracked it, I will have access to the GPS data allowing me to locate the source of his signal."

Katie slowly nodded, not sure about the cracking part, but right now wasn't the moment to argue. An new icon then appeared on the screen.

"That's…strange," Ryder said.

"Someone is trying to contact you," Katie said also surprised.

Ryder quickly got back to work. "It's a distraction. Something is completely erasing the data from the tower relay. Katie, can you chat in my place?"

"What!" Katie turned toward Ryder, shocked. "Why?"

"Because I need to focus if I want to collect the data before it is too late and I can't do that while chatting. Plus, it could give us more information about our culprit. Please."

"Okay," Katie sighed before opening a chat room.

A message appeared immediately.

Good morning, Paw Patrol. I didn't expect you to find me after a month. Been a bit slow, huh?

Katie frowned and answered.

I know you're not going to reveal who you are, so I won't ask. I suppose in addition to hacking the Lookout, you're also the who made the video on Videoden.

You are correct on the first statement. I know you are just trying to stall for time so you can locate me before the tower relay's data are deleted. It won't work.

Then at least confess why. What has the Paw Patrol ever done to you?

Oh nothing. I never even met any of your members. Honestly, I was just bored.

Katie blinked, reading the answer a second time just to be sure she had red it correctly.

"Bored? What kind of reason is that," she shouted.

She and Ryder looked briefly at each other. He quickly went back to work even though he was just as disgusted as her. The unknown person continued her explanation.

Though, I admit hacking your system wasn't easy which made the task interesting. I love a good challenge. What I found interested my friend who make those videos. He knew it would be a success.

Since she discovered the video, Katie had been worried. Now, she was mad.

Seriously! What about the lives of the dogs you discredited in front of the whole world? Have you any idea of the pain and problems you caused?

Hey, it's not my fault people are either too dumb to think by themselves or too selfish not to take advantage of the situation. Go complain to them.

You and your friend are going to answer for what you did. We'll make sure of that.

Time's up. Nice try, Ryder. You're good, I'll give you that. Just not good enough.

The chat room closed and the connection to the tower relay was cut.

"No," Ryder cried, but it was already too late. "I lost him." He sunk into his chair. "It's over."

Katie sighed, just as disappointed as him. Like him, she would have wished to bring that person in to face justice.

"I'm sorry Ryder."

He groaned and pinched his nose, the weight of the stress and the fatigue of the night finally falling down on his shoulders. He hadn't even realised how exhausted he was. Katie noticed it.

"You should get some sleep," she told him. "Go join your pups."

"I don't know. Maybe I still can…"

Katie interrupted him by putting her hand on his mouth to silence him.

"Ryder! I swear...! You said it yourself, it's over. Even if it wasn't, you're obviously too tired to try anything else tonight. Go rest and be with your pups. Tomorrow is another day."

"Okay, okay," he surrendered with his arms up.

He turned off the computer and the lights. They walked back inside the elevator. As it went down, Katie took Ryder's hand in hers to comfort him, making him smile as he squeezed back.

"Everything is going to be alright. You guys are not alone. After you left, I talked with Mayor Goodway about what we could do. She said she was going to reach out to the whole town and even people from the outside. If anyone want to get to the Paw Patrol, they'll have to go through us first."

The elevator reached the ground floor and the door opened, but neither of them walked out. Ryder didn't know what to say. He was so grateful to have her by his side, to have her support. He was also grateful for their friends help and so will the pups when they will learn about it.

"Thank you, Katie. It means a lot. Would you stay with us for the rest of the night?"

She smiled back. "Of course, Ryder."

Here we go. Normally, when I write, it is purely for fun. Not to spread a message or personal opinion. This story can be seen as an exception. As you probably guessed, the goal was to show my opinion on the way some, if not most, people act on social medias and Internet. In my eyes, there is a serious the lack of critical thinking and sens of responsibility when it comes to this.

Anyway, some of you may be wondering if the pups will be alright. Yes. Like Ryder said, they will get through it and they will have good people supporting them. Sorry for those who tried to guess wish vilain of the series was behind the video. We will never know who it was. Which makes me think. If Ryder and the Paw Patrol were evil, what kind of bad things would they do and would they be difficult to stop? Also, I wasn't sure if I wrote Katie faithfully in this chapter. We never see her angry in the show, so it was a bit challenging to imagine her like that.

If you have any comments, feel free to share them and I hope to see you guys on my other stories.

Until then, take care.
