Marinette headed downstairs, glad for a distraction. Nino had just given the news that Adrien wouldn't be coming to tonight's concert, and as much as she was used to his father keeping her, it still hurt.
She wandered from room to room, looking for Juleka's brother, Luka. She sighed, heading over to the one of the porthole windows, hoping some fresh air could lift her spirits.
"Hey, I'm Luka," a voice said behind her. Marinette jumped, placing a hand on her heart. "Sorry," the boy said, "did I frighten you?" Marinette caught her breath, shaking her head. The boy had blue hair and a kind smile. Suddenly, she felt calm again. It was a different sort of calm she felt when she was with Cat Noir, but it was a calm nevertheless. "No, no, I'm fine. I'm Marinette, by the way."
"Is everything all right? You seemed sort of deep in thought," Luka asked. "I'm, uh, in love with Adrien Agreste!" Marinette blurted. "But I never get to see him because his dad is really protective of him and…." her voice trailed off. "You don't care about this stuff, do you? I only came down here to fetch you. Your mother needs you."
"She can wait," Luka patted the bed. "How about you sit down and tell me more about this Adrien? And about you too, if you don't mind." Marinette quickly peeked in purse, and Tikki nodded her head.
Taking a deep breath, she plunged forwards. When had she been able to talk to someone about her feelings?
"Its only natural you would miss him, Marinette," Luka said, when she finished. "He seems like a very caring guy." Marinette nodded. "I could write a song about him, if you'd like." Marinette's head whipped around. "A song? For Adrien?"
"Yeah. I know a little more about him, and about you too. Tell my mother I'll be up shortly." "Okay, I'll tell her," Marinette said, standing up. She wasn't sure why she felt shy all of a sudden. "Thanks for listening, Luka."
Marinette rushed up into the bright sunshine, and Alya came over. "You okay, girl? We were starting to get worried." "Yeah, I'm okay now." "Good. Because, surprise, Adrien's here after all!"
Both Adrien and Marinette were surprised when Luka stepped up to the mic, later that evening. "I wrote a little song, deciated to Marinette and her friend, Adrien.
When I'm with you, I feel like my world is in perfect harmony,
Apart the harmony falls apart.
Alone I'm a solo act,
but we're always better together."
Marinette eyes were glued to the stage. It was true, whether she was Marinette or Ladybug. She always felt better with Adrien or Cat by her side.
