Chapter 22 - A Tragic Ending and A New Beginning

In the previous chapter, the team were finally made to the castle of Akuras in which Saihara was waiting for them. So, they split up to rescued Maki while Kurapika and Phinks were battling Saihara and Stacy. Later on, Asurina had finally released Maki from the prison jail. But somehow, a Akura guard sees them, trying to shoot Asurina but the bullet was hitted at Maki, defending her, in which he was badly wounded. Back when, Kurapika and Phinks had finally defeated Saihara and Stacy in the battle fight.

After the fierce battle, Tom, Jerry and the hunters were returned back to the city. Somehow, Maki was terribly wounded, due to that he had been defended Asurina from the attack of the Akura soldier a while back ago. Due to this, he was in a coma state at the hospital.

" Will he'll be alright? " Asurina asked the doctor

" He was in a coma state. I'm not so sure how he will gonna lived longer. I'm so sorry. " the doctor said

" Oh, no... " Kurapika uttered, with shock on his face

And the doctor leaves.

" So, what should we do now? " Leorio asked

" Our battle was a total success.. however.. things are going to be in an unexpected way." Jerry stated

Asurina felt silent, speechless. Somehow, she walks away slowly. Kurapika, was worried for her, followed her from the distance.

" Where are you going, Kurapika? " Gon asked

" I need to talk with Asurina. You guys go ahead. " Kurapika said in response

" Oh, okay... "

And he walks away from the spot.

" Do you really that he was worried for Asurina? " Tom asked Jerry

" Probably it is. Perhaps he had think on his mind that he's really wanted to forgive Maki for his sacrifice for Asurina despite his bad attitude towards to him. " Jerry answered

" I see your point there. Do you really that possible to happen? "

" Of course "

On the other hand, Kurapika found Asurina, was sat on under the tree.

" Asurina.. " went slowly approached to her

She raised her head, said in a low tone voice " Oh, it was just you, Kurapika. "

" May I sit beside you? "

She slowly nod her head, replied with a yes. Kurapika sat at the grass, beside her.

He looked at her, gazing " Are you really okay? "

" I'm fine really, Kurapika. Don't you worry about me then. "

" I guess you felt slight lonely then. "

" Me? lonely? why? "

" I can see that on your face... it was about Maki, right? "

She nod her head a little bit. In that very moment, he hold her other hand and said with deep breath " Asurina, listen to me. I know that it was hurt for you that he had risked his life for you. I'm still here for you... until I died.. for eternity.. is because I loved you so much.. "

She raised her head a little.

" I will be your guide until the very end, my love. "

" Do you really meant it? "

" Of course I will be. I don't want to lose you away from me. "

" Kurapika... " then she smiles

The two shared a romantic kiss.

After that, they stand up from the grass.

" So.. will you forgive Maki despite of those things that he had done to you? "

" Why should I not be? I had already forgiven him through my heart. "

" I guess I should let go of the past and move on to a new future. "

" Yes, sure thing is. " with a smile on his face

And they walked back to the hospital. As they arrived in, Jerry noticed them.

" Oh, you two. And uh... are you two are back together?! I had thought that.. "

" Sounds crazy, isn't it, Jerry? We are talking together... and we make up. " Kurapika answered in response

" Oh, I see about it. By the way, I guess Maki wants to speak to you, Kurapika. He had regained consciousness a while back ago while you two were away. "

" Wait... He will gonna speak with me? "

" Yes, but in a private manner for the last moment. Oh, by the way, Gon and the others were returned back at the hotel. "

" I see. " and he turned to Asurina, told her " I guess you should take a rest for the meantime. You had completely exhausted during the battle. "

" Okay, Kurapika. "

And he walks out from the spot, going to the hospital room in which Maki was confined.

He went approached to him, slowly.

When Maki sees him, he turned his head a little bit, said " You came, huh? "

" Just as Jerry told me about. So, do you really want to say something to me? "

" Yes, it is. "

" Well, go ahead. "

" I.. I.. want to apologize to you. "

" apologize to me? "

" Yes, it was. I had been apologize for what I did to you from before.. some awful things.. I was such a completely idiot back then.. I had hoped you will gonna forgive me. "

Kurapika sigh with a little deep breath, said with a humble manner " I had already forgive you, Maki. "

" Do you really mean it? "

" Yes, it was. I know that you liked Asurina so much despite she loves me so much... and you willing to sacrificed your life for her. "

" Yeah, sort of. And one request that I want to asked you for. "

" Yes, what is it? "

" Please.. take care of her.. and don't leave by her side.. and I do really know that you are the only man that she loves with. Will you do that for me? "

" Of course, I will. " in a humble manner

" Thank you, Kurapika.. Now, I'm finally free at last... and tell to Asurina that I loved her too as well.. and goodbye.. then.. "

That moment, he closed his eyes. The heart monitor goes down to zero, implied that he dies.

" Rest in peace, buddy.. "

After that, he returns back to Jerry and the other hunters at the hotel, told to them about his saddest demise.

" So.. he's dies with regrets, isn't it? " Jerry asked him

" Sort of " Kurapika said in response

" I guess he was a hero after all.. " Gon said

" You said it " Killua said

" So.. what you will gonna do now next? " Tom asked Kurapika

" I will gonna marry Asurina in next week. "

They were surprised of what he had said.

" Are you really sure about that? " Leorio asked

" Yes, I had finally made up my decision, guys. And besides, I do really loved her more than everything. . and I do really wanted to make her happy. "

" Yeah, you say that. " Jerry said, with smile on his face

And so, Kurapika tells to Asurina of about Maki's fate. After that, she finally accepted and decided to move on to a new beginning, in which to be with the one whom she truly cares with for all those years.

A few weeks later after the fierce war against Saihara and her armies, peace has finally occurs in. The hunters can finally take a rest and do anything whenever they can do while the others continuing their own missions epescially the Phantom Troupe members. Somehow, the wedding celebration of Kurapika and Asurina was celebrated at the beach shore, in which Tom and Jerry were invited as special guests (due to the fact that they were given invitations by Kurapika).

After the wedding, they were having a reception and after that, the newly wed couple were off to their first honeymoon.

But before that, Tom and Jerry were asked permission to them to headed back to their hometown.

" So.. you guys are heading back? " Kurapika asked

" Yes, it is. We don't want our friends to be getting worried that much. " Tom said in response

" Oh, I see. So.. shall we meet each other sometimes? "

" No problem, Kurapika. We will gonna meet each other... at anytime you needed us. " Jerry said

" Your Welcome. Please say hi to your master for me. " Kurapika said to him

" No probs " Jerry said

" Aww man.. you guys leaving? " Gon said, with slight upset facial expression

" Of course, we will gonna see each other sometimes. Don't you worry about it. " Jerry answered

" Cheer up, Gon. You are quite an upsetter. " Killua told him

" What do you just say? " Gon asked, with an impatient expression on his face

" Nothing " Killua said, with a slight laughter on his face

Jerry turned to Asurina, told her " please take care of Kurapika, okay? "

" I will gonna fulfilled that promise, Jerry. I swear that I will gonna protect him at all cost. "

Jerry just smiles of what she had said.

And so, the two animals bid farewell to Gon, Killua, Leorio, Kurapika and Asurina, and they depart from the country through airplane.

1 year later, Tom and Jerry was living happily with their closest friends and allies, continuing their responsibilities in their hometown. Somehow, a surprise shocking news had been received to them, a letter from Kurapika and the letter says:

Dear Tom Cat and Jerry Mouse,

I'm here to informed to you two that my beloved wife Asurina was no longer with us anymore. A few months ago, she gave birth to twins: a boy and a girl. But somehow, after the birth, she died immediately in an instant. I'm so sad that she had gone for real. Before she dies, she tells to me that she loves me more than anything in the world.

Just come to the funeral tomorrow morning.

I'm looking forward to it.

And so the next day, the two came to the funeral as Kurapika said to them in the letter.

Also, Gon and the others were there as well.

" I guess she was a true heroine after all. " Tom said, with slight sad facial expression

" Seems so.. she had finally fulfilled her duty.. for Kurapika... and the entire world. " Jerry said, as he looks up at the blue skies, with white doves flying through within it " Thank you Asurina... for everything.. "

Kurapika, gazed up at the skies, raise his hand up, and a rose petal felled off to his palm. He paused for a moment and then he smiles.

" Asurina.. you will be always in my heart.. forever... "

Tom and Jerry on the other hand, had doing nothing but to watch at him from the distance.

A very tragic and sad ending though. Even so, there are some lessons that we needed to learn a lot and to used it in real life factions and situations.

But anyway, I will be making a sequel story and it was titled:
