New Teammates, New headaches, New Adventures

Chapter 2

'This will be interesting.' Both May and Jaune simultaneously thought as they watched Neon and Reese move to the center of the room.

"Wow. Nice dorm. Not as advanced as the ones in Atlas, but at least there aren't any cameras or heavy scent of disinfectant." Neon said as she took off her skates.

"Or as cozy as the ones at Haven, but still nice." Reese said as she deactivated her hoverboard and put it away. She then pointed to the door behind them. "I take it that's the bathroom, right?"

"Yes." Jaune answered.

"But there's no kitchen or something like that that we could use, right?" Neon asked.

"No, that's only for the fourth-year students. But to compensate for that, we are allowed to fill out a form to receive some kitchen appliances like electric stove tops, combi ovens, tea kettles, and a few other things. However, only the first two things are free. Any orders after the first two we have to pay for, and they are expensive, which kind of defeats the purpose. Plus, they take a while to get here."

"So, I guess then we will have to figure out what is better and order them as soon as possible." May said.

"But in the meantime, we can eat at the cafeteria." Reese said.

"Or grab take-out. There are a few good spots nearby that are also relatively cheap." Jaune said.

"You can show us those locations later." Neon said.

"Of course. And if you want, I can show you around Beacon."

"We would appreciate it." May said, smiling.

"Perhaps later. Right now, let's set up the dorm and everything else we need to do. Then, we can head to the cafeteria to get something to eat." Reese said.

"Well, the cafeteria won't be open for a while. It's still too early." Jaune said.

"What times are they open?" Neon asked.

"For breakfast, six to eight. For lunch, twelve to two. And for dinner, six to eight. It's currently five, so it's still not time yet. But probably when we're finished, they will open."

"I doubt it would take that long. But it will probably be close." May said.

"But speaking of taking long. Do you three have any luggage that will be arriving soon or not?" Jaune asked.

"Yes. Mine should be arriving in an hour or so."

"Mine should be arriving later today, probably around eight or nine, since Beacon will be the last stop for delivering the students' luggage." Neon said.

"Same." Reese said.

"Alright. So, what should we cover first?" Jaune asked, curious and wondering how it was going for his friends and their new teammates.

"Well, first. Let's pick our beds and wardrobes. That way, we can relax and start unpacking." May said.

"Alright. So, who wants what bed?" Reese asked.

"I mean, they are pretty much the same, so it doesn't really matter. I guess the only real difference is if you want one near the window or closer to the bathroom or door." Neon said.

"I really have no preference, so it doesn't matter to me." Jaune said.

"If you don't mind, can I take the window bed? I like to read before going to bed, and having the window next to me is a big help as it lets the moonlight in." May asked.

"Sure." The others agreed.

"So, who wants the other beds?" Jaune asked.

"Eh. I'll take the one near the door." Reese said, shrugging, seeing no difference in what bed she had.

"And I'll take the one opposite of May." Neon said, pointing to the other bed near the door but with no window.

"Guess that leaves me with the final bed." Jaune chuckled as he moved his stuff to his new bed by the bathroom, remembering all the times he had been one of the last ones to cast his vote on something. After all, there were downsides to being on the younger side of a large family.

"Comfy." Reese said, jumping onto her new bed. While not as comfy or warm as the beds at Haven, it still felt like heaven after the long, tiring trip from Mistral.

"Now that we have that out of the way let's go over the team details." May said as she began unpacking her two bags.

"Right. But does anyone even have the details?" Neon asked.

"Yeah. Did any of our headmasters even send the details yet?" Reese asked.

*DING*

"Well... mine... ours... just did?" Jaune answered/asked, still unsure if Ozpin was his new teammates' headmaster or not. "Did you three receive a message?"

"Nope." Neon answered, with the others shaking their heads.

"And I'm pretty sure he is our headmaster now... I think." May added.

"What did the message say?" Reese asked, curious.

"A couple of things. First, our team name is Team JNRZ."

"Team JNRZ?" Neon asked, confused.

"I feel like they are just throwing our name's letters together in random order and hoping it can be pronounced." Reese said, with the others agreeing.

"But at least we now know our team's name and that you're the leader, Jaune." May said.

"But that also brings up another question." Neon said.

"And that's do you have any leadership experience?" Reese asked.

"Y...es and no. I was made the leader of my previous team even though I had no prior experience and my partner actually had experience." Jaune answered.

"I take it our new headmaster makes a lot of... questionable choices." May asked.

"Yes. A lot. But somehow, they almost always work out in the end. But if it's from sheer luck or Ozpin seeing something that we don't, I'm not sure."

"If that's the case, then maybe he sees something in you that he didn't see in your previous partner." Neon said.

"Possibly."

"Still, something is better than nothing, especially since I don't think the rest of us have leadership experience." May said.

"May's right. And besides, my old partner, Arslan, was my team's leader. She was a great leader. But one thing that Arslan made clear was that she didn't learn how to be a leader from sitting in a classroom. While they did help, Arslan said she learned everything she knew from experience." Reese said. "So maybe he thinks you will be a great leader and wants you to gain the experience needed."

"Well, that's one way to look at it. Thanks." Jaune said, smiling. But he then gained an idea. "But here's an idea."

"What is it?" Neon asked.

"Well, since this is a temporary thing, in a sense. How about this? I'm not that experienced as a leader, nor do I know all the ropes. So, how about we split up the responsibilities between each of us and rotate them about once a week? That way, if the teams are scrambled again, we each would have some form of experience of being a leader."

"That could... work." May said as she, Neon, and Reese looked at each other.

"But we would have to rough out a schedule of some sort so we know who has what." Reese said.

"True. But this is just an idea." Jaune said.

"A good one, to be honest. Especially since, as you said, this is just a temporary thing. If all goes as well as the headmasters want it, we might be on different teams next semester. So, I think it would be a good idea since if we become the leaders of our new team, we would have some kind of leadership experience." Neon said, thinking it over. It did make sense, and she felt like it would benefit everyone. They would just need to flesh it out so they could take full advantage of it. "But as Reese said, we need to make a schedule of who takes on what responsibility and when so we don't get confused. Plus, we would also need to take into account everyone's schedule."

"Right. I forgot about that."

"But we can do that once we get our new schedules, which should be soon." May said, with the others agreeing.

"Alright. Now that that part is out of the way, what's next?" Reese asked.

"Well, I could show all of you around. But I feel like you want to do that later." Jaune answered.

"Yeah. Maybe after dinner or when we get our schedules." Neon answered.

"Alright. But what else can we go over?"

"How about our combat styles." May suggested.

"I think that would be a good idea. That way, we can know how each of us fights." Reese said.

"True. But I think it would be best if we saved that for when we head to the training room for our first training session. I don't feel like invoking Ms. Goodwitch's wrath so soon." Jaune said. "But we can still tell each other our semblances and show our weapons."

"Is she as scary as we heard about?" Reese asked.

"That... honestly depends on the rumors. Glynda is scary and strict, but she is fair. Honestly, one thing that a lot of rumors leave out is just how much she cares for us. As long as you don't cause trouble and do what you're told, she is nice. Glynda is even willing to set up extra-credit classes so she can help you with whatever you are struggling with."

"Oh, that's nice." Reese, Neon, and May said.

"Anyway. Shall we tell each other what our weapons and semblances are or wait until we are in the training room?"

"Sure. I'll go first." Reese said as she stomped on her hoverboard, causing it to bounce into the air before catching it. "I call this Reverb. In its melee form, it acts as my hoverboard, so I can skate around the opponent and attack them from all sides. While not as flashy as some others, it can pack a punch when I kick it toward my opponent and block some attacks. But if I need some help or if I'm feeling daring, I can also incorporate any dust I have in it, usually for creating fiery blasts or freezing my opponents. And I can split it and transform it into a pair of revolvers with bayonets that shoot green dust projectiles. Or any dust projectile."

"Okay. That's cool." Jaume said, impressed.

"What about your semblance?" May asked.

"Oh, my semblance. I don't have a name for it yet. But basically, it lets me distort myself and everything that's about five feet around me to that point where you can barely make anything out. I generally use it to make it harder to hit me or anyone near me."

"And with your hoverboard, I doubt anyone could hit you." Neon said.

"Well, with targeted attacks, maybe. But anything that has an area of effect is my Achilles heel." Reese said. "But what about the rest of you?"

"I use my Nunchaku." Neon said as she pulled out a pair of gray nunchaku. However, they changed to a cyan colour when she bent them.

"Why are they glowing?" May asked.

"That's the ice dust that's inside them. Anytime I hit someone with them, that part of my opponent becomes frozen."

"Can you use any dust with your Nunchaku?" Jaune asked, curious. "And yours, Reese?"

"I generally only use ice dust. And I think I only used fire dust once but stopped when it got a bit more expensive. But it can use other types of dust. I just prefer ice dust."

"And my hoverboard can use nearly any standard dust. I just use fire dust since it's too cool to pass up, especially when I get to leave a flaming trail behind. But it can't use any combination dust. It just ends in disaster." Reese answered.

"Yeah. Fire dust did get a bit more expensive. But do you have any long-range attacks?" May asked.

"Nope. But I don't need any when I can get into range before they could even begin to aim at me." Neon answered.

"True." Jaune said, smiling, as he remembered his friend Ruby and how she could get into melee range before anyone else. Granted, she could still transform her scythe into a sniper rifle if she needed some range. 'Maybe I should start looking into something. That way, I can be of some use to my team if we are stuck at range.'

"And your semblance?" Reese asked.

"It's called Rainbow." Neon answered.

"What does it do?" May asked.

"It lets me do a few things. The first is that it lets me go faster while leaving a rainbow trail behind. And the second depends on what colour is the brightest. It can range from creating a solid barrier to block attacks or cut people off to making it so bright and disorienting that it can confuse/blind my opponents."

"That's cool." Jaune said before turning to May. "What about you, May?"

"I use a sniper rifle/axe hybrid that I call Leviathan. It doesn't use dust like your weapons, but I have been planning on looking up ways to somehow utilize dust. As for semblance, I call it Adrenaline Rush. Basically, it slows down time for a couple of seconds so I can make more precise shots. It's a bit more complicated than that, but that's the gist of it."

"Now, that's awesome." Reese said.

'I'm feeling a bit... inadequate now.' Jaune thought as he looked back at his weapon. While he had pride in them, he felt they paled to what his new teammates' weapons could do. 'Perhaps I could ask Weiss if she knows how to infuse dust into my sword in some way.'

"What about you, Jaune?" Neon asked.

"What do you got packing?" Reese asked.

'I feel like if Yang were here, she would make a dirty pun at what Reese just said.' Jaune thought as he took out his shield and sword. "Not as impressive as you three. I wield Crocea Mors. It's a Shield and Sword. It can't use dust, obviously, but it is far more durable than other weapons. Not sure why, though."

"Can it transform into a ranged weapon like mine or Reese?" May asked.

"Nope. It's only melee. The shield can transform into a sheath, though."

"Does it change weight, or does it stay the same?" Neon asked.

"It stays the same. But I wish it did since it is quite heavy."

"How much does it weigh?" Reese asked.

"The shield weighs about twenty pounds. And the sword is about five pounds."

"Yeah. That can get a bit heavy after carrying it a while, especially while fighting."

"What about your semblance?" Neon asked.

"I don't have a name for it yet. But it lets me amplify another person's semblance or aura to crazy amounts."

"How crazy?" Reese asked, curious.

"I'm not entirely sure since I only recently discovered my semblance. My previous teammates and I tried a few tests but didn't get far before this switch happened."

"What did you discover?" May asked.

"A few things. The main one is how aura doesn't usually heal more serious wounds or broken bones. But with my aura, it can. Granted, even with my semblance, aura still can't heal certain injuries or remove things like scar tissue. And I can amplify another person's semblance to the point where it is more effective or can do things they normally couldn't."

"Okay, that is useful." Reese said, surprised.

"Yeah. We got our own personal, private doctor to tend to our injuries. Now, all you need is a doctor's outfit." Neon said, causing May and Reese to chuckle while Jaune rolled his eyes.

"And the other part makes you like a portable power amp for other people's semblances and aura."

"But I feel like there is a catch to something that strong." May said.

"Yeah, there is." Jaune said, scratching the back of his head.

"What is it?" Reese asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Basically, how my semblance works is that I am transferring some of my aura to the person I am helping." Jaune answered, causing the other's eyes to go wide in shock.

"Okay. That..." Neon said, now slightly worried.

"That can be very dangerous." Reese said, remembering how she learned in class how dangerous it was when someone tried to use their semblance without having any aura or enough. And the results were hardly ever pretty. Depending on the semblance, it could range from a person being light-headed for a few moments to needing to be in the intensive care unit for a while.

"Typically, yes. But I have such a large aura reserve that I never have to worry about it." Jaune said.

"That's good." May said, relieved.

"How large exactly?" Neon asked, curious.

"Not sure. I think when one of the teachers used the aura scanners on me, it said that I was above the seventy percent mark, whereas a lot of other students were around the thirty percent mark. But I think the thing wasn't working right since Port used it on me a few more times while banging on it."

"Well. I doubt it is that high. But either way, it's good to know that it is unlikely you would run out of aura anytime soon when you use your semblance." Reese said.

"Most likely."

"You know. Something I just realized." May said, getting everyone's attention.

"What is it?" Neon asked.

"I just realized we are somewhat of a balanced team. At least, in terms of roles on the battlefield."

"How so?" Jaune asked.

"I have the best range in terms of ranged weapons. So, I would be the long-range support, taking out or suppressing enemies or calling out positions. Neon and Reese can be the skirmishers, going in and out of the battle and harassing the enemy. And Jaune. You can be the tank/frontline fighter since you fit the role the most and have the most aura, meaning you can stay in battle the longest."

"Huh. Yeah. I guess we are." Reese said.

"But we would still need to see each other in training to see where we stand." Jaune said.

"True."

"But now that we got that out of the way. What next?" Neon asked.

"I'm... not sure." May answered.

"Me neither." Jaune added.

"How about we go some more important things about us?" Reese asked.

"Like what?" Neon asked.

"Little things that I think would be important for everyone to know, like allergies, medications, things like that. Of course, nothing too personal."

"I think that's a good idea." Jaune agreed, with the others feeling the same.

"Yeah. That way, we can look out for each other and know if something is wrong and what to do about it." May added.

"Plus, it would allow us to kill some time until our luggage arrives or it's time for dinner." Neon added.

"And let us get unpacked." Jaune said.

"So, who should start first?" Reese asked as they began unpacking.

"I will." Neon answered.

One Hour Later

Cafeteria

"And here is the cafeteria." Jaune said as he led his new teammates to the cafeteria so they could eat dinner.

"Is the food any good here?" Neon asked, curious.

"It's passable most of the time. But on special days, like the Taco Tuesdays, it's pretty good." Jaune answered. "Is the food any good at your old academies?"

"Well, yes and no. Atlas prioritizes nutrition over flavor. So, while the food is healthy and we get what we need, the taste is often bland and not that appealing. But at the very least, it is palatable and won't cause any problems." Neon answered. "What about you two?"

"Shade doesn't have a cafeteria. We have to buy our food in bulk. Thankfully, the school did give us an allowance of sorts to buy the food and some snacks." May answered.

"Haven does actually have good food. But we rarely got any of the food we actually wanted since Arslan made sure we picked the healthiest that also gave us all the nutrition we needed. I mean, I get it, and I am thankful that Arslan is watching out for us. But still. Sometimes, we just want something simple like a burger, fries, or jalapeno and salame pizza." Reese answered.

"So what's on the menu this time?" Neon asked.

"Well, it's Thursday, so it is Thursday's schedule. And that means we have greasy, thin pizza, spaghetti with a single meatball, somewhat soggy fries with day-old chili, tomato soup with a small grilled cheese sandwich on the side, and a cobb salad that is more lettuce than anything." Jaune answered.

"And for drinks?" May asked.

"Some sodas, water, and milk. There is coffee, but you have to pay extra for it."

"What about energy drinks?" Reese asked.

"Uh, no. We don't have those anymore. Glynda had Ozpin remove all vending machines with energy drinks and banned them after an incident with some recent graduates. Let's just say the top part of Beacon Academy needed to be replaced after that. And I'm not talking about the inside. The whole structure needed to be fixed or replaced."

"Wow." The others said.

"Yeah. Fun but destructive. Anyway. Let's get our-" Jaune began, but Reese and Neon cut him off.

"FLYNT!"

"ARSLAN!"

Without saying another word, Neon and Reese skated toward their friends and previous teammates. And all May and Jaune could do was stare at their new teammates as they raced toward their previous teammates' tables. But Jaune did mentally note to remind them not to skate in the hallways, classrooms, and especially the cafeteria. He did not want them to get in trouble with Ms. Goodwitch. And he doubted she would go easy on them since Glynda was still mad about the whole food fight incident a while ago.

"Well. There they go." May said as Neon and Reese sat with their friends and instantly began to catch up, despite it only being a few hours at most since last seeing each other.

"Yeah." Jaune said with a sigh.

But Jaune smiled when he saw his friends getting along with their new teammates. And he let out a sigh of relief when Pyrrha was talking and smiling with her new teammates. While he was more obvious, Jaune knew that Pyrrha was also a bit socially awkward due to her almost never having friends because of her fame and sponsors. So, Jaune was glad when he learned that Pyrrha was on a team with people they were familiar with and were kind.

"I take it you were planning on discussing a few more things while we ate." May said, looking over the cafeteria and quickly spotting an empty table. But she also spotted how Jaune was looking at some other students and gathered that they were his former teammates.

"Well, kinda. I wanted to get to know all of you better since we're teammates now. But that's now gone since they are with their previous teammates and friends."

"True. But that doesn't mean we can't get to know each other. And I think it would be good if we have some alone time since we are partners, after all." May said before blushing when she realized how what she said could be interpreted. Luckily for her, Jaune didn't catch it. However, she then became slightly worried about having a repeat of what happened at Shade. "Uh. That is if you want to. Unless you want to join one of your previous teammates?"

"No. My friends and I agreed to spend the day together with our new teammates to get to know them. Plus, I don't want to interrupt them since they seem to be having a good time. And besides, you're right, May. Since we're partners now, we should get to know each other more so we can be more comfortable around each other, especially since we're going to be sharing the same dorm for a while."

"Not just the dorm. But the bathroom, wardrobes, and a couple of other things." May said, slightly relieved that everything was already going better than expected.

"Yup. It's going to be fun."

"Hopefully." May said, already liking Jaune and her new teammates better than her previous ones. "But I can tell it might be a little chaotic on account of our new teammates."

"I would be surprised if it wasn't. And honestly, I'm hoping it is since I have become accustomed to having chaos in my life."

"Let me guess. With your old teammates?" May chuckled.

"Yes, but only partially. The real chaos came from having to share everything and growing up with seven sisters."

"Okay. I think that might be too much chaos for me to handle." May said, shocked. Yet she couldn't help but chuckle a bit. "But you have to tell me how that went down. And anything you're willing to share with your old teammates."

"Of course. But first, let's get our dinner." Jaune said, chuckling.

Ten Minutes Later

"Alright. So, you're telling me that for the past ten years, you have been your sisters' guinea pig when it came to make-up and other things." May asked, chuckling, as she listened to her new partner's stories about his childhood while she ate some fries with chili. And while it was a day old, as Jaune said, it was still somewhat decent.

"Well, twelve years, actually. They started when I was five and only stopped because I came to Beacon." Jaune said before taking a bite out of his Cobb salad.

"Did they ever stop? Or did you ever get to stop them?"

"Oh. If I asked, they would stop."

"But..." May said, raising an eyebrow. But it wasn't as if Jaune could see it as it was the one underneath her beanie.

"They would take my allowance when I wasn't looking. Or distract me if I was paying attention. Then they would make it even worse or make it take even longer."

"What about your parents? Couldn't you say something to them?"

"My mom was a part of it. And my dad was too scared of my mom and sisters to say anything. Plus, it kept everyone preoccupied so we wouldn't tear the house down."

"So, there was no chance of escaping."

"Nope."

"And yet, you still loved it."

"Perhaps not at the moment. But yeah. Now, I look back at them fondly."

"Well, it is nice that you have good memories of your family."

"Yeah. I'm glad, too. But what about you, May? Any fun adventures with your family?" Jaune asked, curious.

"Fun, yes. Chaotic as yours, thankfully not." May chuckled. "But yeah. It was calm for the most part. Well, as calm as it can be for Vacuo."

"I can imagine from the stories I have heard."

"Have you ever been there?"

"Only like twice. But never for vacation."

"Well, then you're not missing on much. There isn't a lot to do because of how it is. So, most of the time, it was just training and staying alive."

"Well, hopefully, that will change now that you're here since Vale has a lot to offer." Jaune said, smiling, causing May to smile as well. "Still. Any fun stories with your family or time in Vacuo?"

"A couple. But the only times that come to mind were the times my parents were trying to teach me how to use my weapon and control my semblance."

"Was it difficult?"

"For my weapon, Leviathan, not really. Well, sniping was more difficult as there were several things I had to learn to actually hit my targets. But it was nothing I couldn't get in time. However, it was my semblance that caused me the most trouble."

"How so?"

"Sometimes, no matter how hard I tried, I could never get it to work. But other times, it would go off without me knowing or trying. It did lead to some interesting moments, like when some bullies tried to throw some spoiled fruit at me. Yet, my semblance went off by itself and let me dodge the fruit. But unfortunately for them, because I dodged their attack, the fruit ended up hitting the headmistress. And to say she was pissed is an understatement."

"Okay. That is a bit funny. But it serves them right."

"Yeah. And it got them and so many others to back off since they didn't want to risk getting punished by the headmistress."

"That's good. No one deserves to be bullied for who they are."

"Yeah, but unfortunately, it happens. But speaking of bullies, are there any here?"

"Unfortunately. That was Team Crdl. And while their team was dissolved, I think Dove and Cardin are still here and are on the same team."

"We might have a problem then since I think I saw Gwen and Dew here as well."

"How so?" Jaune asked, curious. While hearing about what someone did was one thing, hearing it directly from someone who went to the same school with them and possibly had the same classes was another.

"Everyone knows about their... less than steller morals and what lines they are willing to cross to get something done, which many might consider inhumane. Then, consider they are also native to Vacuo. And most people from Vacuo view people from other kingdoms as below them. Now, put all that together, and you don't get the best kind of people."

"Yeah. I can imagine." Jaune nervously said.

"So, it's best to avoid them as much as possible and only interact with them when necessary. And even then, try to keep it as minimal as possible."

"I'll keep that in mind. Thanks, May."

"You're welcome, Jaune." May said, smiling. "But enough about that. What else can you tell me about Beacon since I now live here."

"Well, not much, to be honest. Despite its prestigious looks and reputation, Beacon is kind of average when compared to other schools like Atlas. I mean, sure, it does have some nice things like an amazing library, a few unique classes, and things like that. But nothing that helps it stand out above the rest."

"But what about the teachers and headmaster? I know a bit about Glynda, but what about the others?"

"Well, there is Professor Port, Doctor Oobleck, Professor Peach, Glynda, Ozpin, and there is this guy who comes in twice a week called Vulkan."

"Wait. Ozpin is also a teacher?" May asked, surprised.

"Yup. He only teaches the... diplomatic classes."

"Diplomatic classes?"

"It's a nameholder currently. Basically, he teaches us how to interact with important figures and political ones, should we ever have to talk with the mayor or leader of a town or village. And how to negotiate."

"Yeah, I can see him teaching a class like that since he is the headmaster of the school, after all. And probably deals with the council."

"But speaking of councils. Ozpin also does team counseling if we ever need that."

"Oh, that's good. But hopefully, we never need to use that."

"Hopefully." Jaune said. While he doubted they would ever need to use it, there was still a slim possibility they might. Jaune just hoped it would never have to come to that.

"Anyway. What do the other teachers teach?" May asked, curious.

"Doctor Oobleck teaches history but focuses on important battles and events that shaped how huntsmen and the world as it is today came to be. Also, as a side note, he wants to be addressed as Doctor Oobleck because of his degrees."

"Alright. I'll keep that in mind."

"Next is Professor Port. He teaches Grimm Studies. But be warned. He loves to tell stories and tries to put himself in the spotlight. However, they are some of the most boring you will ever hear."

"How boring?" May asked, both curious and dreading the answer.

"They were boring enough to put even Glynda to sleep and make Ozpin always have an escape route to get out if Port starts telling one of his stories."

"Wow."

"Yeah."

"If they are as boring as you say they are, I think I might be able to stay awake for a while."

"We'll see. Either way. It's best if you keep your scroll out to record the lesson."

"Alright."

"But while we're on that. How long did you and your previous teammates last in his class?"

"Ren always lasts the longest, which is usually around ten minutes. I'm usually out by the second-minute mark." Jaune answered, causing May to chuckle. "But how long do you think our new teammates will last?"

"I think..." May began, subtly turning to look at Neon and Reese, who were talking with their friends and their friends' new teammates. "... not even five seconds."

"Again. We'll see. Who knows? Maybe they will outlast us." Jaune chuckled. "But moving on. Professor Peach teaches health and first aid. And Glynda teaches dust classes, combat classes, and leadership classes."

"Wow. That's a lot, especially considering how many different classes of the same subject she must teach. But what about the other one? The one that only comes here twice a week."

"Vulkan. He teaches wilderness survival. He's pretty nice. Just don't mess with him. When he gets angry, even Glynda and Ozpin fear him."

"O...kay. If he can do that, I will do my best." May said, surprised.

"Don't worry. Vulkan is nice, and it's almost impossible for him to get angry. Just be yourself, and everything will be alright."

"I'll take your word for it. But doesn't this seem like too few teachers?"

"Yeah. From what some of the upperclassmen told me, there used to be more teachers, but they were let go because of budget cuts."

"Ah. That explains it."

*DING*

"Excuse me." Jaune said as he pulled out his scroll and opened the message.

"What is it?" May asked.

"Ozpin sent us our new schedule."

"Oh, really?" May asked before taking out her scroll and seeing that she had also received her schedule. And from the looks of it, it didn't seem too overwhelming as she had only three classes for most of the week, with the exception of Wednesday, where she had four. "Not too bad of a schedule. How long are the classes?"

"Typically two and a half to three hours each. Sometimes, we get out a little early, though. But depending on the class, you can also get a lot of homework."

"Well, that's to be expected. And, it will keep us busy at least since we don't have missions yet." May said as she put her scroll away. "Wait. Do we get missions or not yet?"

"Mision missions, not yet. We will get the occasional supervised 'assignment' that will pay us some lien. But it's never a lot. So, it's best to save up the weekly stipend for emergencies. Honestly, it's barely enough to scrape by."

"Are we allowed to work side jobs for extra lien?"

"You will first have to run it by Glynda or Ozpin so they can input it into the system and work out a schedule so it does not interfere with future team assignments and if they will accept it. But from what an upper classmate told me, they will allow it almost all the time." Jaune answered as they put away their scrolls. "Anyway. Now that we have our schedules and finished our meals, do you want me to show you around Beacon?"

"Sure." May answered, smiling, as they stood up. "But should we tell Neon and Reese?"

"I think-"

"Tell us what?" Neon and Reese asked, appearing behind May and Jaune, surprising and startling them.

"Where did you two come from?" May asked, calming her beating heart.

"From Haven/Atlas." They said, causing Jaune and May to roll their eyes.

"Anyway. We just got our schedules and finished our dinner. So, I figured I could show May around. Do you two want to tag along, or do you want to do it another time so you can talk with your friends some more?" Jaune asked.

"Well, we just finished our meals and caught up with our friends." Reese said.

"So we can do it now." Neon added.

"And on the way back, we can pick up our luggage since we just got the text saying it arrived."

"Alright then. Follow me." Jaune said as he led them out of the cafeteria. But not before waving to his friends/previous teammates and motioning to them that he would call or text them later.

"So, where to first, Jaune?" Reese asked.

"The training room and the locker room. Then, I will show you where your classes are." Jaune answered.

"Oh. Since we're heading to the training room, think we can have a quick training session?" Neon asked.

"Sure. I don't see why not. But we have to keep it brief since it's six-twenty, and it closes at seven."

"That's fine." The others said. Nodding, they headed back to their dorm to grab their gear before heading to the training room.

Fifteen Minutes Late

"Okay. We're here. Now let me just set it up, and we can get started." Jaune said as they entered the training room in full gear.

"Yeah. Defiantly not as advanced as the ones in Atlas." Neon said as she looked around the room while Jaune headed to the console to turn everything on.

"But great nonetheless." Reese said. "And it's pretty big, at least compared to the one at Haven, anyway."

"I'm just glad it's inside and outside like at Shade. Meaning we don't have to deal with the weather or sand storms." May said, remembering the times they had to take cover or cut their training short because of the weather.

"Alright. And there. It's all set up." Jaune said as the arena lit up.

"Can we modify the drones in any way, Jaune?" Neon asked.

"Or the arena?" May asked.

"Yes. You can change the drones and the arena to your liking. But probably not as much as the ones at Atlas, though. However, we can't do much outside of changing how many drones are on the field and whether or not we want cover. Also, we can only use standard drones, which are just lightly armored drones with clubs for arms or pistols. And they look like regular, generic robots." Jaune answered.

"Why not?" Reese asked.

"Ozpin and the rest of the faculty are still inputting everyone's data into the system. When something like this happens, things like the training area can only use its most basic functions to prevent accidents from happening. But it should be back to normal by tomorrow afternoon."

"Makes sense." Neon said.

"And it's not like it's going to matter much since we're only going to show what we can do." Reese added. "Especially since it's getting late and will close soon, like you said."

"True." Jaune agreed while making a mental note to talk with Pyrrha about how they could continue their training sessions. But he also wondered how his new teammates would react to his mediocre combat skills. Even though he had been training with Pyrrha and occasionally Nora, Jaune knew he was still miles away from where he should be. Granted, he was far better off than when he first arrived. 'Hopefully, they won't judge me too harshly. But to be on the safe side, I should lower the number of drones that will be deployed during my turn. But not enough to where it is noticeable.'

"So, who should go first?" May asked.

"I guess I will." Reese answered as she activated her hoverboard and got on before skating into the arena.

"How many drones do you want, Reese?" Jaune asked.

"Since we're only doing light work, give me ten. And make them have clubs."

"Alright." Jaune thought while secretly being relieved. 'Ten's not too bad. I can do ten without much trouble. And I'll probably also have them use clubs.'

Looking back down at the console, Jaune inputted the correct number into the dial before hitting the enter button. Once he did, several alarms went off while a light near the door lit up to alert everyone nearby that the arena was in use. Soon, three sets of doors on the south wall opened with drones exiting and moving onto the field. They then surrounded Reese in a circle. A timer on the wall turned on and displayed the number three, which quickly counted down. And once it reached zero, all the lights turned green, signifying the start of the round.

Smirking, Reese stomped on her hoverboard to have it fly into the air before performing a spinning jump kick on it, causing it to fly into the drones and destroy two of them. Then, somehow, her hoverboard returned to Reese, which she flawlessly got on and used the opening she created to escape being surrounded by drones. The drones tried to follow her, but Reese was far faster. Using her speed to her advantage, Reese managed to take down six other drones in quick succession. Now, down to the last two, Reese skated away from the remaining drones before jumping into the air with her hoverboard and having it change into its pair of revolvers with bayonets. She then quickly fired two shots, hitting the drones in the chest and destroying them.

"And that's how you do that." Reese said, smirking, as she landed. She then merged the pistols and had them change back into her hoverboard.

"That was impressive, Reese." Jaune said.

"Thanks."

"Now, whose next?"

"I'll go next." Neon said as she took out her nunchaku while skating to the center of the arena.

"How many drones do you want, Neon?"

"Give me fifteen and make them have pistols."

"Alright." Jaune said as he inputted the amount and changed the weapons from clubs to pistols.

As with Reese, the lights flashed as the drones moved onto the field. But instead of surrounding Neon as they did with Reese, the drones stayed back by about fifteen feet. After a few seconds, the drones were in place, with the lights turning green a second later.

"NEVER MISS A BEAT!" Neon shouted.

Neon then dashed to the side to avoid the initial rounds the drones fired at her. Smirking, she then skated toward the drones with a rainbow trail emanating from her that also made her go faster. As she rapidly closed the distance, Neon kept repeating her catchphrase.

"NEVER MISS A BEAT!"

Once she reached the drones, Neon quickly bent her nunchaku to activate the ice dust within them. She then bobbed and weaved through the bots while avoiding their attacks and occasionally freezing their weapons with her nunchaku.

However, what caught Reese's, Jaune's, and May's attention was how Neon's semblance was preventing the drones from moving to try and reposition themselves. But they then remembered how Neon told them about the different abilities her semblance had depending on which colour was glowing the brightest. And it seemed like Neon chose to have it trap the drones and prevent them from leaving.

'Hmm. This could lead to some interesting partner or team combos.' Jaune thought.

Once all the drones were either trapped or could no longer attack, Neon skated back around and started taking them out one by one. And since they could do nothing but take it, the drones were destroyed in less than a minute.

"NEVER MISS A BEAT!" Neon shouted as she skated back to the others.

"Now that's how you do it." Reese said as she high-fived Neon while some sweepers arrived to clear the debris.

"But I have to ask. Are you able to pass through your semblance after trapping or cutting off the drones?" May asked, curious.

"Not when it is fully solid. But I can pass through it before anyone else can." Neon answered.

"So, May. Do you want to go next, or should I?" Jaune asked.

"I'll go, and then you can go." May answered.

"Alright. How many drones do you want? And with clubs or pistols?"

"Give me fifteen drones. But give ten of them pistols and the rest clubs."

"Okay. Anything else?"

"Can you give me an elevated platform and maybe some cover?"

"I can give you an elevated platform that goes up by about five feet. As for cover, I can only do little, thin walls that are about waist high."

"That's fine."

"Okay then. Here you go." Jaune said as he inputted the commands.

Soon, another set of drones came onto the field that were to May's specifications. Then, a small section about ten by five feet rose from the ground. Jumping slightly, May hoisted herself onto the platform. She then moved to the edge while pulling out Leviathan and having it transform into sniper rifle mode. Finally, three small walls also rose from the ground, with one rising on the edge of the platform to give May some cover.

After a moment, the lights turned green, with the drones with pistols immediately firing while the rest moved to flank May. Breathing out, May raised her sniper rifle, took aim, and fired, destroying the first drone with a headshot. With one of the drones with pistols gone, the rest started to move erratically to make it hard for May to land her shots. However, unbeknownst to the others, everything seemed to be slowing down, except for May.

Breathing out, May looked through the scope of her rifle as her eye, that was covered by her beanie, changed colours to black. Making the calculations in her head, May moved the crosshairs of her scope until they lined up with her targets. Then, in a split second, she fired nine more times while adjusting her aim after each shot. And after the fine round was fired, everything returned to normal as May deactivated her semblance. But once it did, the others got the shock of their lives.

"WOW!" The others said, shocked at what they saw. It was jarring, and it took them a moment to figure out what happened. But, to them, May took out the rest of the drones with pistols in less than a second despite them moving about.

"Damn. She's good." Reese said, impressed.

"Yeah. But I wonder if she used her semblance to help her make those shots." Neon said, also impressed.

"I'm not sure. But either way, I'm glad we're on the same team."

"Yeah. Same."

'I wonder who is the better shot. May or Ruby? Possibly Ruby since May had used her semblance. Still, it would be interesting to see them compete against each other.' Jaune thought before an idea came to mind. 'I wonder if May would be willing to teach me how to handle guns. But I should ask Pyrrha first since I think I saw her making plans already before this split happened. And it would be better since we already know each other and are comfortable around each other.'

Turning back to May, the three saw May removing the empty clip from her rifle before putting in a fresh one. But as soon as she did, the other drones reached her, with their programming forcing the platform to lower. Seeing this, May changed her sniper rifle back to its axe form before jumping off. Seeing this, the drones moved to surround and attack May with their clubs. Yet, May proved that she could still hold her own in melee as she destroyed the drones with relative ease. Granted, she still took three hits to the back but shrugged them off due to her aura both protecting and healing her.

"Nice job, May." Jaune said.

"Yeah." The others agreed.

"But I take it that you used your semblance to take out those nine drones in under a few seconds, right?" Neon asked.

"Yes." May answered.

"Wait. I thought it only slowed down everything, including you?" Reese asked.

"Actually, it does. I only told you the gist of it. It does speed me and the weapon I'm using, if any, up slightly while slowing everything else down. Again, it's a bit more complicated."

"Still, that's pretty powerful." Neon said.

"Not really, since it only lasts a few seconds and doesn't speed me up that much."

"I wonder what will happen if we have Jaune use his semblance to power yours." Reese wondered.

"Perhaps another time we could try it. That is if May is up for it." Jaune said.

"Sure. But as you said, we can do it another time."

"Alright."

"You're turn, Jaune." Reese said.

"Show us what our new leader can do." Neon said as Jaune inputted what he wanted into the console before heading to the arena.

'Hopefully, you're not too disappointed.' Jaune nervously thought as he unsheathed his sword and had the sheath transform back into its shield form.

"So, uh. How do we start the session? Or did you put it on a timer?" May asked as she went over to the console along with the others.

"I already put in what I wanted. Just press the green button next to the number counter."

"Alright." Reese said as she found the button and pressed it.

The lights turned on as ten drones with clubs entered the field. They moved until they were only about five feet away from Jaune. Soon, the lights changed, with the drones moving to swarm Jaune. Readying himself, Jaune recalled all the lessons Pyrrha taught as he ducked underneath the first attacks. He then retaliated with his own attacks, destroying two drones before raising his shield to block any counter or follow-up attacks. And despite not being as fast or as flashy as his new teammates, Jaune was still taking care of the drones with not much difficulty.

"Definitely not the best or most skilled I have seen. But I have also seen far worse." Neon said as she and the others observed Jaune.

"Yeah. He could use a bit more practice." Reese agreed.

"But he's still doing much better than I expected." May said, with the others agreeing.

"Yeah, even though his fighting style seems a bit boring and stale."

"Well, we can't expect too much since Jaune only has a sword and shield. Not to mention, unlike the rest of us, he doesn't have a ranged weapon or a way to increase his agility or speed." Neon said.

"True." Reese said.

"But don't forget, while we could use our semblance in some way to benefit us offensively or defensively, Jaune's is about boosting others. So, he can't really use it here since he is on his own." May added.

"Again, true. But I am really curious about what would happen if Jaune boosted our aura and semblances with his. Seriously. Like mine distorts myself and what's close by. So, if he boosts it, would it distort everything that's within ten feet or make it so that our opponents can't discern anything they see."

"Or with mine. Would it just let me freeze time in a sense or make it so that others I choose also benefit from it?"

While May and Reese continued to talk with each other about what could happen if Jaune used his semblance to boost theirs, Neon was focused on Jaune's training session. It was apparent Jaune was either rusty or still needed some training, as she quickly spotted some novice mistakes in his form. Yet, despite this, Neon also saw that he had a lot of potential and could easily reach it. He just needed some help. And there was no shame in that, as everyone needed help at some point. Heck, Neon remembered how Flynt helped when they were first paired together.

'Perhaps we could take turns training each other. Sure, Jaune doesn't seem as experienced as us, but I'm sure he has something to offer, especially for May, since he is more melee-focused, whereas she is more for range. And I remember one of the recent graduates at Atlas saying they did that, and it did wonders for their skills and teamwork. I just need to run it by the others first. Maybe tomorrow when we have a clear and fresh mind.' Neon thought as Jaune countered another drone's attack before destroying it, leaving only four others intact.

Seeing that Jaune was almost done, Neon looked down at the console to see if there was something she could do to make it slightly more challenging for him. But it seemed like aside from having a few more drones arrive, there wasn't much she could do. However, that changed when the console powered down before turning on again, with a message appearing that said all of the functions were operational again.

'Talk about timing. Let's see what I have to work with.' Neon thought as she looked over her options.

But Neon knew it wouldn't do anyone, especially Jaune, any good if she just ramped up the difficulty or had a lot of drones appear. After a moment, she decided to have six more drones enter the arena. Two would have clubs, three would have tasers, and the last one would have a shotel, and they would all have no armor. While it wasn't anything fancy, it would force Jaune to get creative, especially against the last one, as it was meant to counter people who used shields. Yet, Neon still felt like she needed to add one more to really push Jaune.

'But which one?' Neon thought as she looked through the options until one caught her eye that she didn't recognize. 'What's this?'

Meanwhile, Jaune had defeated another two of the remaining drones he initially wanted for his session. And as he ducked underneath an attack that was aimed at his head, Jaune hoped he didn't perform too badly in front of his new teammates. However, before he could even think about taking it easy for the remaining drones, he heard a familiar sound that reminded him of Nora's semblance.

'WOAH!' Jaune mentally yelled when he moved back to avoid being tased by some new drones. 'Where did they come from? I thought they were offline because Ozpin was still inputting the new data?!'

Yet, Jaune shook his head as he focused back on the new drones. Later, once he was in the clear, he could wonder why they appeared. Ducking under the drones with the clubs, he countered with two clean strikes with his sword, destroying a drone with a club before delivering an overhead strike, eliminating a drone with a taser.

Taking a few steps back, Jaune waited for the drones to finish their 'lunging' attacks before attacking back. However, he was only able to destroy another drone with a club and one with a taser before being forced to roll out of the way when the drone with the shotel tried to attack him from behind. While Jaune wasn't as familiar with weapons like Ruby was, he recognized the weapon and what it was meant for. And it meant he had to change up how he would attack and fast since he couldn't simply block it with his shield as the blade would still hit him.

But Jaune soon remembered something that he saw Blake and Ren doing at one point. And while he doubted it would work that well, it was worth a shot. Taking another step back, Jaune waited for the drones to approach him. And once they did, Jaune pretended to swing his sword to get the drones to attack, which they did. He quickly side-stepped the first attack and blocked the second attack with his shield before retaliating with his attacks. Yet, Jaune immediately rolled to the side when the drone with the shotel attacked with an overhead strike. However, he rolled again to move behind the drone and attack its exposed back, destroying it.

'Okay. That drone is taken care of. Now the rest.' Jaune thought as he stood up and caught his breath. Looking up, he saw that he only had to take care of three more drones.

*Beep*

'What was that?' Jaune thought, confused.

*Beep Beep Beep*

'Okay. Where is that coming from?' Jaune wondered before ducking under an attack from the drones. However, Jaune got his answer when he saw two more drones rapidly approaching him. But unlike the previous ones, these had no weapons, seemed somewhat fragile, and were carrying something in their hands. Briefly, Jaune wondered why but got his answer when he realized the beeping was coming from them and saw what was in their hands.

They were explosives.

"Oh." Was all Jaune could say as the drones reached him.

*BOOM*

"JAUNE!" Neon, May, and Reese shouted, worried when the drones detonated the explosives.

'DAMN! WHY DID THEY EVEN HAVE THAT AS AN OPTION!?' Neon thought, feeling bad as she was the one who had the drones appear.

"Jaune. Are you okay?" Reese asked as they reached him. Jaune was on his back, covered in dust and ash, with the debris of the drones that he was fighting surrounding him.

"Yeah. I'm... fine." Jaune answered as his eyes spun in his head from the explosion he was not expecting. Blinking a few times, he managed to get his vision to stop spinning and focus on his teammates.

"A-are you sure?" May asked as she inspected him. Luckily, aside from the dust and ash covering him, Jaune didn't have any visible injuries.

"Y-yeah. I'm fine. My armor and aura protected me."

"I-I'm so sorry. I didn't know they had drones like that." Neon said.

"Oh. So, you added the new drones, Neon. Right?" Jaune asked, rubbing his head.

"Yeah. I'll tell you why later. I'm sorry. I -I didn't mean to add those exploding ones. I didn't even know they were an option. Why do they even have them? And why weren't they probably labeled?"

"Ironwood gave Ozpin these drones at the beginning of the year. I only know about them because I accidentally overheard their conversation as I got lost here. But these drones are for fourth-year students to ensure they always have situational awareness and lightly punish them if they don't. As for the labeling, I don't have an answer."

"Still. I'm sorry that happened."

"It's fine, Neon. But a little heads-up would have been appreciated, even for the regular drones."

"Do you want us to help you to the nurse?" May asked.

"No. It's fine. My aura has already healed me. And besides, the force behind the explosion is not a lot since it is meant to lightly punish and not deliberately hurt students."

"Alright." Neon said, relieved her leader was fine.

"So, what now?" Reese asked as some drones came to clean the debris.

"Well, it is closing time for the training room. So, if you all want, we can continue with the tour." Jaune suggested.

"Sure." The others agreed before they all left the room.

Two Hours Later

Team JNRZ's Dorm

'That was a good shower.' Jaune thought as he exited the bathroom while wearing his new Pumpkin Pete's pajama top and shorts. But unlike the others he had, this only had the name of the cereal. And the sight of him wearing it earned a chuckle from Reese and Neon and a smile from May.

"Thanks for the tour, Jaune." May said as everyone got ready to sleep. While it was still relatively early, it was a tiring day. And they felt like as soon as their heads hit the pillow, they would fall asleep instantly.

"You're welcome." Jaune said as he lay on his bed while grabbing his scroll. He then opened up the texting menu and selected the group chat he had with his previous team. He then typed out a message and sent it.

"Just want to make sure. But our first classes begin on Monday, right?" Reese asked.

"Yes. Well, technically yours. I have leadership classes tomorrow."

"Wait. You already have leadership classes?" Neon asked, surprised.

"Yes, but not like the other times. This one will just be us receiving everything we need to know about the teams and what to expect moving forward."

"Like what?" May asked, curious.

"Like when we will have team missions, assignments, the daily and weekly projects, and things like that. Also, I should mention that here at Beacon, we have a bi-weekly test as a team. But that's just to see if we're getting along as teammates."

"Why?" Reese asked.

"From what one of my friends told me, it is to avoid having a repeat of an accident that happened years ago. I'm not sure of the details, but it did not end well."

"Oh. That makes sense when you put it like that." Neon said.

"But speaking of the weekend, does anyone have anything planned?" May asked.

"Just tomorrow. Flynt and I are heading into Vale as a sort of way to commemorate our time as parts and teammates of Team FNKI." Neon answered.

"Same. But I am meeting with Arslan and the rest of my previous teammates since she wanted to talk with us about something." Reese said.

"What about you, Jaune?" May asked.

"I'm hanging out with my previous teammates tomorrow. But for Sunday, I got nothing planned yet." Jaune answered. "But what about you, May?"

"Not sure yet. I might come up with something."

"Alright."

"But since we're all doing something tomorrow and got nothing planned on Sunday. How about we do something on Sunday, then?" Reese suggested. "We can treat it as our first team bonding day."

"Sure. That sounds like a good idea."

"Yeah. It does." Neon said with May nodding. However, they all yawned a second later, causing them all to chuckle because of it.

"But we can figure out something tomorrow. I'm beat." Reese said before hopping into her bed.

"Yeah. We should get to sleep. We might not have official classes tomorrow outside of those leadership classes you have, Jaune, but I doubt we want to be yawning our way through the entire day." Neon said.

"True." Jaune said as the others got into their beds, while he went to the switch and turned off the lights before heading to his bed.

"Night." Everyone said as they got comfy. However, while Neon and Reese fell asleep almost instantly, May got out her book to do some light reading while Jaune got his scroll. They did hear each other do this, but a quick nod from each other told the other that they would be going to bed shortly.

'Today was interesting. And only slightly painful. But still fun.' Jaune thought as he opened up his messages to see that his friends had responded.

'Hey, Jaune. How are you? Are you okay? How are your new teammates?' Pyrrha asked.

'Everything is fine, Pyrrha. Don't worry. And my new teammates are nice. But what about the rest of you?'

'Well, Fox and Neptune are not getting along that well. But from what they told us, it's because of a past experience that neither wants to bring, but both can't blame each other because of the circumstances.' Ren answered.

'Yeah. They said they just needed time, and everything would get better. But I hope it's soon since it's already a bit annoying. But aside from that, everything is going fine, Jaune-Jaune.' Nora said.

'That's good. But what about yours, Pyrrha?' Jaune asked.

'Well, we all know Yatsuashi and Velvet. There's no problem with them. But I was surprised by how protective Yatsuashi is of Velvet. As for Ivori, he's friendly. But he's also somewhat reserved. Either way, everything is going well on my end.' Pyrrha answered.

'That's great.'

'It is. But I do wish we were still a team.' Pyrrha texted, thankful her new teammates were distracted with something to not notice her blushing face as a particular thought about Jaune entered her mind. Yet, unbeknownst to her, they did.

'Hopefully, it stays like this for the rest of the semester.' Ren said.

'Hopefully.' Jaune agreed.

'But enough about that. Are we still meeting up tomorrow?' Nora asked.

'I would say so.' Ren answered.

'Yes.' Pyrrha said.

'Yeah, we're still meeting up. But where? And it has to be after eleven since I have leadership classes tomorrow.' Jaune said. 'But on the topic of leadership classes. Who are the leaders of your teams?'

'Yatsuashi is the leader of my team.' Pyrrha answered.

'And I am the leader of our team.' Ren answered.

'And Renny is already a fantastic leader. And so were you, Jaune.' Nora said, causing everyone to chuckle silently.

'Any tips about leadership classes, Jaune?' Ren asked.

'Not really, aside from paying really close attention since the quizzes and tests will go over everything we learned in class. And Glynda will occasionally give homework that does not go over anything we covered in class. But those are the hypothetical ones. There is no right or wrong answer. Just put down what you would do in that situation.' Jaune answered.

'Alright. Thank you, Jaune.'

'You're welcome.'

'Well, it might not be that late. But I am tired. We can continue this tomorrow. Good night, everyone.' Pyrrha said.

'Same. Good night.' Ren said.

'Night-night.' Nora said.

'Good night. See everyone tomorrow.' Jaune said before closing his scroll. Placing it on his night table, Jaune let out a final yawn while stretching before getting comfy and falling asleep. However, as he did, Jaune was unaware of May watching him.

'Today went better than I expected. Hopefully, I can make friends with the rest of the team. And hopefully, it won't end up like with my previous team.' May thought as she closed her book before getting comfy as well. But as she felt sleep slowly come to her, she cast one last look at her leader. 'And I'm glad I got partnered with Jaune. He seems nicer and more approachable than most. I have nothing planned for tomorrow. Maybe I can join him and his friends tomorrow. It will also be a good way for us to get to know each other more as partners and teammates.'

With a final yawn and hopeful thought, May let sleep take here. And as they all slept comfortably, a part in the back of their minds wondered what adventures they would have as a new team.

Notes:

I felt like continuing this. So, here's a short chapter to get it rolling and get ready for their first adventure.

But speaking of adventures, does anyone have any suggestions? I only have a few, and I am drawing a blank for others.

Also, I forgot to put this in the first chapter, and the character slots are limited to four. But Pyrrha is also part of the pairing for Jaune.
