Chapter 4: Duties of the King:
Simba's POV:
Kiara's fully grown, but I still worry.
"Zazu, what am I going to do," I asked.
"Being a father isn't easy," says Zazu, "perhaps it's a good thing women rejected me. But right now, you do have another difficult job."
"Right, my King job," I said.
"I know that's also difficult, but no one said it would be easy."
Zazu: Everyone in the Pride Lands big or small
Looks forward to whenever you may call
A visit from Your Highness is an honor, yes, it's true
All your subjects want so much to be with you
So, embrace your position
The royal tradition
Delighting the Pride Lands with every little thing
In all of the wonderful duties of the king
You welcome herds from all around
Grand gazelles, their grazing ground
Approve the official turaco whistles
Guard the clearing of pointy thistles
Reside over aardvark wedding rites
Coach some mongooses on their bite
Listen to the zebras' silly pleas
And bless any animal when they sneeze
So, embrace your position
The royal tradition
Delighting the Pride Lands with every little thing
In all of the wonderful duties of the king
In all of the wonderful duties of the king
You set the limit on bushbuck hopping
Judged the hippos' belly-flopping
Considered crocodiles' complaints
And tend to kiss baby porcupines oh-so-gently
Simba: Assign the songbirds to their trees
Advise confused chimpanzees
Ceremonial mating of the bees
Zazu: And sowing giraffes when they get fleas
Simba: Actually, that's not much fun
Zazu: The fleas do tend to spread
But that said
So, embrace your position
Simba: The royal tradition
Zazu: Delighting the Pride Lands with every little thing
In all of the wonderful
Simba: In all of the wonderful
Zazu/Simba: In all of the wonderful
Duties of the king
In all of the wonderful
Duties of the king!
"Is that the King I hear?"
"Oh no," I said.
"I'm afraid so," says Zazu, "Kopa's here!"
"Kiara doesn't even like him," I said.
"No one does," says Zazu, "but you had to make that agreement with his parents to betroth your daughter to him."
"How was I supposed to know he'd be a je... Kopa," I said, "good to see you again!"
"Isn't it," asks Kopa, "and hello... Zoozoo!"
"Zazu! You pea-brained, unqualified-"
I then covered Zazu's beak. "So, where is the Princess," asks Kopa.
"Back at Pride Rock," I said.
"Well, tell her I wrote this song for you, please," says Kopa.
"Oh no," I said.
Here's the thing about Kopa, he's arrogant, not very bright, very rude, and he's a terrible singer. I would turn down the engagement, but his parents are good people. I don't want to be rude to them. I just wish he wasn't so rude. He then sings and it was so bad, Zazu was knocked out.
"So, would you mind telling her, your Majesty," asks Kopa.
"Sure," I said, while covering my ears.
"Thank you." Kopa then walks away.
"If Scar were still the king, at least he'd have to put up with Kopa," I said.
"I still say his parents aren't as nice as we think," says Zazu.
"Let's go," I said.
Rafiki's POV:
"Oh, Mufasa," I said, "Kiara has grown to be a beautiful lioness... but I worry that Kovu has grown too." Then there was a sign. "Kiara and Kovu... together? That is your plan? Are you crazy? Kopa may be a jerk, but at least he's not an outlander! You have your head in the clouds, that's what you-" Then there was a powerful windstorm. "Alright, alright, I'm not happy about it, but fine."
Kiara's POV:
I was finally ready to go out there.
"Remember," says Dad.
"I know, stay away from the outlands," I said.
"And if you see Kopa," says Dad.
"I pretend to be nice," I said.
"And if he starts to sing," says Mom.
"I make up an excuse," I said.
"Good," says Dad, "and don't worry, the rest of us has to pretend to be nice to him too."
I then ran out.
To Be Continued
In the next chapter, Kovu "saves" Kiara.
