Hello again! I was going to split this up, but I've been taking a long time to get anything out to you guys and decided to post it all as one chapter. I hope you enjoy. I'm getting back into writing more, but that means I'm also focusing on my original novels again, but I will try and get a new chapter out soon.
I do not own Digimon.
Kari sat in her room staring at T.K.'s name in her contacts. She didn't know if she had the right to call him. Were they even still friends? She lowered her phone and sat it down on the bed, laying back she stared at the ceiling blurry eyed, wiping loose tears from her eyes.
Suddenly her phone vibrated in her hand. "Huh?" she lifted her phone up and saw Davis' name on the screen in front of a goofy picture the two had taken together the previous year. She hesitated before finally clicking answer. "Hello?"
"Hey." Davis' voice unusually calm.
Kari rolled over onto her side and stared absently at her bedroom wall. "What's up Davis?"
"I was just calling to make sure you were doing alright." Davis said sincerely.
"Yeah. I'm fine." She tried to even her voice. "Have you heard anything else about T.K.?"
Davis hesitated. "No…" he sighed. "I wanted to talk to you about T.K.. If you're not too busy."
She frowned. "About?"
"Actually, would it be okay if I came by?"
Kari seemed confused. "I…" she was home alone—her parents were out of town for the week. "I mean, I guess you can if you want to."
Davis' tone seem to lighten a little. "Okay. I'll be by in a bit."
"Okay." Kari replied wearily.
"Great. Bye." Davis hung up abruptly.
She stared at her phone, perplexed, for a moment before her thoughts returned to T.K.'s recent behavior and how worried she was for him. Things had been awkward lately, and she had been allowing T.K. to push her away—she was mad at herself for letting him. Things would never mend between them at this rate.
There was a knock on the front door that almost startled her—surely Davis hadn't gotten there already. Quickly walking from her room to the front door she opened it, surprised to see Tai standing in front of her, worry plastered on his face. "Tai?" she frowned. "What are you—""We're all meeting over at Izzy's place. I came to get you." Tai's voice was somber, the concerned scowl on his face worrying Kari even more.
"About T.K.?" she asked, her voice breaking.
Tai frowned. "Did someone already tell you what happened?"
Kari shook her head. "I was at the game. He was acting really out of it."
Tai's expression hardened. "No. Not that."
Kari's chest tightened. "What then?"
Just as Tai opened his mouth to speak, they heard Davis say Tai's named. "What are you doing here?"Tai turned to see Davis walking up to them. "That's what I should be asking."
"I came by to see Kari." Davis frowned, glancing inside at Kari's panicked expression.
Before Tai could respond Kari grabbed his sleeve. "Tai, what happened?"
"T.K. wasn't home when Matt got there earlier and he found a note." Tai hesitated. "Listen, we don't really know for sure yet."
"What kind of note? Where's T.K.?" Kari's voice shook.
Davis could see that Kari was starting to lose it. "Hey, calm down. He's fine, right Tai?" He rested his hand on her arm gently, trying to be comforting.
Tai let out a deep breath. "Izzy said the gate at the school computer was opened a couple of hours ago. He's most likely somewhere in the digital world."
Davis frowned. "A couple hours ago? You mean he went to the digital world right after the game was over then?"
Tai frowned. "Matt said something happened at the game. Were you there?"
Davis nodded. "Yeah. Something happened during the game. T.K. freaked out and ran out of the gym. He wouldn't tell us what happened."
Tai nodded. "How long has T.K. been acting weird like this?"
Davis frowned. "At least since the Phelesmon incident."
"Phelesmon?" Tai frowned.
Matt paced back and forth in front of the window of Izzy's apartment. Sora stood back watching helplessly. The clicking of keys on Izzy's computer the only notable sound in the room.
Sora sighed. "Tai is on his way."
Matt shook his head. "How did it come to this without me noticing?"
Izzy piped up from his desk, still clicking furiously on his keyboard. "T.K. obviously didn't want us to know that something was wrong or we would have known. This isn't anyone else's fault. Especially yours Matt."
Matt inhaled deeply and looked at the ceiling. "I'm not saying that it's anyone's fault. But there had to be something I could have done."
Izzy pursed his lips. "I'm trying to find T.K.'s current location in the digital world, but I'm not seeing his digivice signal anywhere."
Sora frowned worriedly. "What could be causing that?"
Izzy leaned back in his chair and looked up at Sora. "Any number of things. It'd be hard to say definitively what's causing it. All we know is that he opened the gate in the computer lab and now he's missing."
Sora sighed. "Are you sure we shouldn't tell everyone what's going on?"
Matt shook his head. "It's probably best that only a few of us go. As long as Kari comes with Tai to open the gate for us this is all we need for now."
T.K. watched as Patamon broke down the thin wall separating them from the mysterious room with his bubble boom. It didn't take much before the old brittle stone crumbled away revealing a large circular room.
Before Patamon could stop him, T.K. walked ahead into the room. Moonlight came shining down from the extremely high ceiling where the ruins had degraded over time. More of those runes were etched into the walls, these much better retaining their original forms.
T.K. took his phone and snapped some pictures of the runes. "These all lit up when I found my crest." He reached up and touched the wall gently. "Wisemon showed up when it happened, which makes me wonder if these things have anything to do with this 'gate' that he keeps talking about."
Patamon watched T.K. worriedly. "You're planning on trying to confront him the next time he appears, aren't you T.K.?"
T.K. looked back at Patamon and forced a smile. "We're going to get answers, that's all."
Patamon shook his head. "If they were going to hurt you, don't you think they've had enough opportunities? Maybe he doesn't have bad intentions? Or maybe he's confused? If he really tried to delete himself and became corrupted data instead, maybe he doesn't know what he's talking about?"
T.K. pursed his lips. "He'll show up, eventually. You'll see that it's not like that. I can feel the malicious intent from him."
"What happens if he attacks us and I can't defeat him as Angemon?" Patamon's voice shook.
"Don't worry about that right now, Patamon."
Patamon frowned. "I am worried about it now, T.K.!"
T.K. sighed. "I wonder what this place was before. It must have some connection to the crests." T.K. walked to another part of the large room and pressed his palm against the old stone. He furrowed his brows and then looked at his friend, contemplating. "Patamon I need you to digivolve."
"What?" Patamon frowned. "Why?"
T.K. pursed his lips. "These runes lit up when I found my crest and when you digivolved into MagnaAngemon."
Patamon's eyes widened. "You want me to digivolve to ultimate? Now?" he shook his head. "I don't want to hurt you, T.K.!"
T.K. turned to face Patamon and stared at his friend sadly. "Patamon, it'll be okay."
Patamon's eyes welled with tears. "But—"
"I'll be fine. I'm stronger than I seem." He tried to force a smile, but it didn't reach his eyes. He didn't care about the pain. This was the only thing he could come up with to get some more answers.
Patamon only stared at T.K. worriedly. "I'm scared."
"Don't be." T.K. reassured. "If I knew more about the crest and maybe how to use its power on my own, I might be able to do this without you digivolving, but it's the only way I know how to get the crest to activate."
"I won't do it!" Patamon hissed. "You just got done telling me that digivolving past champion puts your life in danger!"
"I'm open to any better ideas you may have." T.K. let out a deep breath, frustrated.
"Yeah. Leaving this creepy place and talking to your friends." Patamon snapped.
T.K. groaned in frustration. "That's not going to happen."
Patamon glared angrily at his stubborn friend. "I'm not going to digivolve."
"Can't you just trust me Patamon?"
Patamon looked at T.K. with defeat. "I do trust you, T.K."
T.K. smiled at Patamon and lifted his digivice toward his friend. "Thank you."
Patamon digivolved to Angemon, stared down at T.K. hesitantly. "Are you ready?"
T.K. nodded, inhaling slowly, waiting for the pain to hit him like it had before.
Angemon nodded back to T.K. and as his body began to glow, so did the room. T.K. tensed as he watched the room became blindingly bright.
MangaAngemon stood before T.K. and the room slowly faded, leaving only the runes pulsing brightly. "T.K.?"
T.K. had his head down, his fists shaking subtly at his sides. "I'm…" T.K. winced. "…fine."
MagnaAngemon stared worriedly at T.K. as his friend looked up at him slowly, blood dripping from the corner of his lips. "I'm de-digivolving!" he hissed.
"Wait!" T.K. shouted, a moan of pain escaping his lips as he knelt forward. Pain pulsing through his head in unison to the glowing runes. T.K. inhaled slowly, clenching his jaw tightly he straightened and took his phone from his pocket, trying to steady his shaking hands he started taking pictures of the glowing runes.
T.K. collapsed to his knees, coughing violently. "Okay."
MagnaAngemon didn't waste a second as he returned to Patamon, rushing to T.K.'s side. "T.K. are you alright?"
The runes stopped glowing and the room went dark. T.K. felt like he would pass out any second. "Mmm…" was all that he could make out.
"T.K.!" Patamon's large eyes filled with tears.
T.K. closed his eyes tightly. He could feel himself losing consciousness. The sensation of darkness swarming around him.
"T.K.!" Patamon watched as he went limp, falling to the floor.
Sora answered the door to Izzy's apartment, grateful to see Tai. "I'm so glad you're here. Matt's…" she saw Kari and Davis standing behind Tai. "Oh, I thought you were only bringing Kari."
Matt walked up to the door. "Izzy still hasn't found anything." He also saw Davis and frowned. "Davis?"
Tai sighed. "He was there when I went to pick Kari up. I couldn't just tell him to go home."
Matt crossed his arms. "I don't really want this getting out of hand before we know what's going on."
Davis frowned. "T.K.'s missing and you don't want the others to know?"
Matt narrowed his eyes at Davis. "He's not—I mean, he just—we don't know what's going on yet." He stuttered out of frustration.
Kari pushed past Tai and looked at Matt guiltily. "What did his note say?"
Matt hesitated. "Um…" he reached into his pocket and slipped the folded piece of paper out, passing it to Kari silently.
Kari quickly unfolded the paper, immediately recognizing T.K.'s handwriting. Davis peered over her shoulder at the note.
"That's it?" Davis frowned skeptically.
Kari's chest tightened as Davis pushed past her, she couldn't hear anything anyone was saying around her as her mind was fixed on T.K.'s handwriting.
Suddenly a loud beeping came from Izzy's computer, hushing an apparent argument between Davis and Matt.
"What's that?" Matt rushed up behind Izzy who was clicking away at his computer frantically.
"It's a digivice signal."
"T.K.'s?" Tai asked anxiously.
Izzy hesitated. "I can't be sure. But considering the circumstances, there's a high probability it is."
Matt frowned. "Where's that at?"
Davis pushed his way past Tai. "That's where those ruins were!"
Matt and Izzy stopped and looked up at Davis, confused.
Tai pursed his lips. "Davis was telling me on the way over. A few weeks ago they found these ruins and a digimon named Phelesmon showed up and tried to kill him and Cody and Patamon digivolved to ultimate to save them."
Matt looked from Tai to Davis with concern. "That happened?"
Davis nodded slowly. "There's more to this than you think, that's why I was telling you that not letting the others know was stupid." He scowled at Matt.
Matt sighed. "How did Patamon digivolve to ultimate without a crest and tag?"
Davis shrugged. "I don't know if any of us know. T.K. wasn't even there—"
Izzy interrupted Davis. "What did you just say?"
Now everyone was staring at Davis with confused frowns. Davis hesitated. "It's a long story—"
"Then start talking!" Matt hissed.
Izzy turned back to the computer. "The signal is gone."
Matt cursed loudly. "Never mind. Right now we have to go find T.K."
Tai touched Kari's arm lightly. "Hey, you okay?" he spoke softly.
She shook her head. "I don't know. Something doesn't feel right." She looked up at Tai worriedly.
"He's returned…" Wisemon's voice echoed through the dark room.
"We knew it wouldn't be long." The digimon who had confronted Wisemon in the ruins before spoke from the shadows. "We will finally have all the pieces together at last."
Wisemon shifted through the darkness. "The gate will finally be open."
T.K. opened his eyes slowly, his head still throbbing, but much less intensely. Blinking he cleared his vision to see Patamon lying on his arm with tears running down his cheeks, his little body shaking.
"Hey…" T.K. whispered.
Patamon sat up in surprise. "You're awake!" he shouted, more tears pouring from his worried eyes.
T.K. pushed himself up slowly. "How long was I out for?"
Patamon shook his head. "Half hour, maybe longer. I wanted to go get help, but I didn't want to leave you and I couldn't digivolve to Angemon to take you out of here."
T.K. moaned as he lifted his hand to his face to wipe the blood from his mouth. "I'm glad you didn't."
Patamon frowned. "I'm never doing that again!" he hissed.
T.K. sighed. "I'm fine."
"No, you're not!" Patamon shouted.
T.K. shifted slightly. "It wasn't as bad as last time."
Patamon stared at T.K. sadly. "Let's go back."
T.K. opened his mouth to speak when his digivice beeped in his hand. "Huh?" he frowned.
"Did you call them here?" T.K. scowled at Patamon with betrayal.
"What?" Patamon looked confused. "No. I mean, I would have if I could, but I didn't."
T.K. cursed under his breath and shoved himself up, staggering he started walking toward the exit of the room. "We have to go."
"No!" Patamon leapt into the air, grabbing T.K.'s hand, stopping him.
T.K. opened his mouth to argue when he heard someone's voice calling his name. He turned and grabbed Patamon and whispered hoarsely. "Please, Patamon." He begged.
Patamon sighed again, defeated by his friend's pleas. "What do we do?"
T.K. let Patamon go and he jumped up and clung to his shoulder. "This place is a labyrinth. If we're careful, we can avoid them."
T.K. glanced at his digivice. "Come on."
Davis and Sora followed behind Matt, Gabumon, Veemon and Biyomon leading the way as they walked through the ruins.
Davis' expression growing more and more annoyed each time Matt shouted T.K.'s name. "You know." His voice thick with irritation. "If he left without saying anything to you in person, he probably doesn't want to be found, so continuously shouting is just telling him where to avoid going."
Matt stopped, lowering his cellphone he was using as a flashlight. "What is your problem?"
Sora and the digimon stopped and stared at the two nervously.
Davis rolled his eyes. "Why are you asking me? You didn't even want me to know what was going on."
"Hey, that's enough guys, we all just want to find T.K." Gabumon tried to calm the situation.
Matt turned to Davis. "Maybe none of us would be dealing with this if any of you had told us what was going on with T.K. when this all happened in the first place!"
"Why are we getting blamed for this? T.K.'s not a child, you know."
"You're his friends! You're supposed to be there for him! You're supposed to know when something's wrong!" Matt's voice shook. "How come none of you thought to say something to any of us?"
Davis hesitated at the desperate look in Matt's eyes. "You know what, you're right."
Sora walked up to Matt, grabbing his hand. His frown softened. "Let's just go." He turned and they started walking down the long corridor ahead.
Davis started to follow when he thought he saw a light down one of the opposite corridors. "Could that…?"
T.K. turned the corner and cursed under his breath. "Damn it, another dead end." He stopped in front of a collapsed pathway.
Patamon grumbled. "Why don't you just talk to them and make something else up then? Why keep running and avoiding them?"
"Yeah, let me know when you come up with that great story." T.K. whispered angrily.
T.K. turned and started back around the corner, stopping as Davis nearly ran into him—they froze in place staring at one another.
"What the hell are you doing?" Davis growled in a hushed voice, shoving T.K. back behind the corner.
T.K. grabbed Davis' wrist and turned the light from his cellphone down at the ground. "What are you doing here?" T.K. snapped, pushing Davis away.
"Matt and the others are in a panic." Davis' voice rose slightly. "Really, the whole leaving a note and running away thing? After what happened earlier?"
"Keep it down." T.K. hissed.
Davis could see the desperation in T.K.'s expression as he glanced back the way Davis had come. "I don't know what's going on with you, and frankly I don't really care. After everything you've put Ka—" Davis stopped at the sound of Matt shouting for him.
T.K. pressed his back against the wall and closed his eyes.
Davis stepped back around the corner, seeing Matt, Gabumon and Veemon coming his way. "Hey."
Matt stopped, shining his light down at Davis. "What are you doing?"
Davis glanced back at T.K., seeing Patamon giving Davis a pleading look. "I thought I saw something."
Matt frowned. "What? Did you find T.K.?"
"Davis, please." T.K. whispered so lightly he could barely hear it, but the anxiety in his voice made Davis hesitate.
Davis shot a glare T.K.'s way and shook his head. "No. It's just a dead end this way."
T.K. looked at Davis with surprise, his chest tightening as Davis gave him one last scowl. Turning back he started walking toward Matt.
"Well hurry up, Sora went ahead, we just got a message. Tai thinks they found something. Let's go."
Davis followed after Matt as they ran down the corridors until they caught up with Sora, who was standing just inside of a large room.
"Did you find T.K.?" Matt shouted out of breath.
Izzy and Tai looked up at them when they entered the room. Tai looked worriedly at Matt, his voice low. "No. But…" Tai turned to look down at where Kari was knelt, Agumon and Gatomon beside her.
Matt's eyes widened at the sight of fresh blood on the floor. "Is that blood?"
Izzy nodded. "It appears so."
Davis frowned and stepped forward. "Blood?" His mind started spinning, it couldn't be T.K.'s, right? He had just seen him. But it was dark, and he had shove the light away. "It's not… it's not T.K.'s, right?"
Izzy looked at Davis and frowned. "This is the exact spot that T.K.'s digivice signal came from. So, all things considered, we'd have to assume it is."
Matt hadn't moved since he'd seen the blood.
Sora stepped up beside him, taking his arm lightly. "Hey."
Matt seemed to snap out of his shock, looking at Sora with surprise. "He's…"
Sora shook her head. "We don't know what happened. He might be alright."
Tai turned away from Matt and stared down at his sister who hadn't spoken in several minutes, just stared with fear in her eyes at the blood stains on the ground. Kneeling beside her he grabbed her arm and pulled her up with him. "We're going to find him, alright?"
Davis opened his mouth, hesitating. He knew T.K. was, at least, somewhat fine—everyone else was imagining the worst. But if he said anything they'd be pissed that he didn't out T.K. earlier and it was probably too late now—T.K. was sure to have taken the opportunity to leave the ruins.
Izzy stepped up next to Davis and nudged him lightly. "What's wrong?"
Davis shook his head. "Nothing. I'm sure he's fine." His voice full of doubt.
Izzy looked at Davis skeptically. "Yeah?"
Tai looked back at everyone. "Let's keep looking. If he's still in the ruins, we'll find him."
"This is my fault…" Kari whispered and then suddenly went limp in Tai's arms, making everyone go into a panic. "Kari!" Tai yelled as he knelt down and pulled her closer into her arms.
Davis ran to Kari's side. "Kari!"
Gatomon shook Kari lightly. "What happened? Kari?"
Sora was at Tai's side. "Tai, it's okay. Let me see her." She checked her vitals and sighed with relief. "I think she just passed out from the stress."
Tai nodded, his shoulders shaking subtly. "She's always been weak. I just worry something will come of it, you know?"
Sora pursed her lips and nodded, her voice encouraging. "She's stronger than you give her credit for."
Davis had his head down, his jaw clenched tightly. "Selfish." He growled.
Tai and Sora looked up at Davis with surprise.
Tai frowned. "What?"
Davis lifted his head and spoke more clearly. "How can he be so damn selfish?"
Matt turned and started walking out of the room when Izzy stopped him. "Listen, I know you don't want to hear this, but we should probably go—"
"I'm not leaving without T.K.!" Matt screamed.
Everyone looked up at Matt.
"He could be hurt! I'm not going to just go home and I'm tired of standing here listening to that little—"
Suddenly the room rumbled and quaked around them.
Tai stood, cradling Kari in his arms protectively. "What's happening?"
The room flashed brightly, leaving the runes glowing.
"What's going on?" Izzy stepped closer to the wall. "What are these runes?"
Tentomon hovered beside Izzy. "I don't know if I've ever seen this kind of writing before, Izzy."
Matt turned to Tai. "Let's get out of here before the place collapses on us."
Everyone agreed and started for the exit to the room.
"Hurry!" Tai yelled after Izzy who was hesitant to leave the new discovery.
Just as everyone cleared the room the entire thing collapsed, leaving everyone in the darkness of the underground corridor.
"It stopped." Davis pressed his hand against the wall.
Sora's voice came from the darkness, worriedly. "That doesn't mean the ruins are stable."
Matt's voice responded just as several people's phones illuminated the surroundings. "Let's get out of here."
Tai still had Kari in his arms tightly. "What about T.K.?"
"We can't help him if we get trapped or hurt down here." Matt seemed to have recollected himself.
Angemon and a mysterious digimon he and T.K. had never seen before were floating in the air above the collapsed room.
T.K. was on his hands and knees, blood pouring from the large wound on his arm that he'd received from the surprise attack when they'd exited the ruins.
She was strong. Stronger than Phelesmon. Undoubtedly ultimate level at least. She wore white and gold, a dark red scarf hiding part of her face and large red strands of beads wrapped around her body, a long, an open scroll floating in the air around her formed figure. Blonde hair cascading down around her body from under a gold crown.
"Who are you?!" Angemon demanded. Glancing down at T.K. below worriedly.
"Be gone, nuisance. I'm here for the boy." She waved her arm toward Angemon dismissively.
T.K. struggled to his feet. "What do you want with me?"
She stared down at T.K. with disdain. "Come quietly and I won't crush the rest of these ruins with your friends inside."
Angemon pointed his staff at the female digimon threateningly. "You'll have to go through me first!"
Her gaze lifted to Angemon with irritation. "In that form?" she mocked. The writing on her open scroll glowed brightly, her voice echoed a whispered chant and golden beams appeared in the air and flickered wildly before heading straight down at T.K.
Angemon barely made it in time to take the attack and save T.K., plummeting into the ground in a heap.
T.K. had to shield his face from the dust that the impact dispersed. "Angemon!" he hollered.
"I'm fine!" The dust cleared, Angemon using his staff as support as he stood in front of T.K. wounded.
T.K. gripped his digivice tightly, blood running down his arm onto the device. "I'll be okay. If she attacks the ruins a second time…"
Angemon clenched his teeth. "I can do this, T.K."
T.K. shook his head. "If anything happens to Matt or the others because of me. Just digivolve and stop her."
The digimon in the air turned her gaze toward the ruins, her scroll beginning to glow again. "I don't repeat myself."
Angemon shook his head. "I can't hurt you anymore!"
"If you don't digivolve, I'll go with her without a fight. I'd die before I let them get hurt because of me." T.K. raised his digivice toward Angemon. "Digivolve, please."
Angemon screamed and his body burst into light, digivolving into MagnaAngemon he was suddenly in the sky, slashing toward the digimon to interrupt her attack.
"Still not a worthy opponent." She hissed as she easily dodged his attack.
T.K. knelt down, trying to even his breathing to subside the pain as it coursed through him. The taste of blood quickly following. "Damn it…" T.K. cursed, spitting blood from his mouth. "MagnaAngemon…"
MagnaAgemon's wings glowed brightly, and he whipped through the air, his sword just barely grazing her. She used her large red beads to deflect what attacks he did manage to connect.
Suddenly a large blue flame came out of nowhere and engulfed the woman. MagnaAgemon looked down to see Garurumon and Matt charging their direction. He looked down to see T.K. had disappeared.
The female digimon snarled at the ground where several digimon were headed their way. "Tsk." She turned to MagnaAgemon and pointed her finger at him. "We shall meet again soon."
She took off into the forest the opposite direction of the ruins and disappeared.
"MagnaAngemon!" Matt's voice called for him desperately as he leapt off of Garurumon, looking up into the sky.
MagnaAgemon opened his mouth and then stopped, lowering his head. He returned to Patamon and dove down toward the forest, also disappearing.
"Patamon!" Matt couldn't believe that he was running away.
Tai came up behind him. "He's probably going to where T.K. is."
Matt turned to Tai. "We can catch up—"
"I don't think T.K. wants to be found, Matt." Tai looked at him seriously.
Izzy and the others walked up behind them. "That digimon wasn't in my data base."
Sora pursed her lips, looking over at Davis who was carrying the still unconscious Kari on his back. "I think we should consider that T.K. left on his own."
Matt shook his head. "No. We aren't just going to give up—"
Sora walked up to Matt. "That's enough."
Matt looked away, his eyes full of frustration. "No. It's not enough!"
"T.K.'s not a child anymore!" Sora shouted. "He's not a little kid running around needing your protection. He's the boy who grew up in this world and fought alongside us in the hardest battles of our lives."
Matt's eyes widened. "But Sora!"
"No, Matt. Davis is right. What he's doing is selfish—but he's an adult who has every right to face his problems however he sees fit. I have enough trust in him to know that when he needs us he's going to come to us."
Matt gaped at Sora as she placed her hand on his chest. "I know he'll always be that little eight-year-old to you…but he's not anymore, and he hasn't been for so long. He's making decisions that we may not understand or agree with, but didn't we do the same thing once?"
Matt's chest tightened as he remembered those dark days when he left during the battle with the Dark Masters. "That doesn't make me any less worried." He felt tears stinging his eyes. "It just makes me want to be there for him even more."
Sora smiled sadly. "You didn't want us chasing after you, remember?"
Tai walked up to Davis, placing his hand on Kari's cheek. "Let's get her home."
Davis nodded. "Kari deserves better."
Tai looked at Davis sternly. "I don't know what all has been going on lately, but I don't think you have the complete picture."
Davis shook his head. "Maybe I don't. But what I am seeing isn't convincing me otherwise."
Tai saw the frustration in Davis' expression. "Let's go."
T.K. was out of breath as he leaned against a tree, the moon glaring down at them through the leaves above.
Patamon floated down to the ground beside T.K. and looked up at him, seeing the dried blood still staining his pale face and the blood running down his arm, dripping from his fingers. "Are you going to be alright?"
T.K. shook his head and laughed. "Who knows?"
Patamon frowned. "What now?"
He leaned forward. "I can't think. I can't breathe. I can't move." T.K.'s voice grew quiet.
Patamon's frown faded. "T.K.?"
"I'm okay, Patamon." T.K. straightened and pushed away from the tree. "Let's find somewhere to recover."
Patamon watched as T.K. slowly walked under the rays of moonlight and shadows. "I'm here for you, T.K."
T.K. turned and looked at his little friend sadly. "I know."
Again, hope you enjoyed.
Things will start to get more complicated and T.K.'s going to have to face his friends sooner rather than later.
Thank you for reading and I always LOVE reading your reviews. 3 See you again soon!
