Present day

The following morning, Dutchy pulled an old envelope out of his case and pulled the letter from it and read it again.

Dear Dutchy,

I am sorry to leave a letter and would rather do this face to face. I have to go; my grandmother has had a stroke and it sounds serious from what my mother has said. I am on the first flight I can get home. so, by the time you are reading this I will probably be 30,000ft in the air. I Just wanted to say that you have shown me the most amazing time that I will never forget.

all my love,

Lizzie.

Shoving the letter back in to his case next to a ring box he had held on to for the past two years, his mind flashed back to the day he got the letter, how he tried to call her but couldn't get through thinking how was going to find this amazing woman who had entered his life. shaking his head to clear it, he walked down stairs and straight in to lizzie.

"sorry," he said brushing past her. He noticed how the light caught her hair, highlighting the bright copper tones, set in a classic vintage style, it made him know she was the woman for him. She was dressed in a pair of high waisted vintage style trousers and a cashmere jumper and she was caring a matching cardigan that showed off her figure, and a simple string of pearls around her neck and a small black handbag on her arm, and a pair of black brogues on her feet.

Turning she called out "Dylan, I thought you might like to see the area, explore a little. I'm heading in to town and was wondering if you would like to accompany me,"

He turned to face her "sure, I will just grab my coat," he said as he walked to the coat stand and took his coat off. "which one is yours?" he asked gesturing to the stand.

"the caramel one, with the broach on," she said pointing to the coat and putting her bag on to the sideboard. He plucked it off and held it out for her, as she took it from his, their hands brushed sending a spark of electricity through her.

"thank you," she whispered "Mom, I'm off in to town, do you need me get anything,"

"No thank you Elizabeth," her mother called from the other room

lizzie picked her bag up from the sideboard took her keys from the glass bowl that she had tossed them into the previous night, and her leather gloves from the draw that she normally put them in.

Unlocking her car, lizzie got in to the driver's seat, putting her coat and bag onto the back seat and waited for dutchy to climb in to the passenger seat. Sliding in, Dutchy's legs were pressed up against his chest. Stifling a laugh, lizzie lent over and lifted the leaver that moved the chair backwards.

"push with your feet, the chair will move backwards," she said as the chair slowly moved backwards. "that's as far as it will go," she added as the seat made a clunk as it hit the end of the track. "better?" she asked trying to avert her gaze from him.

"a bit, still a bit cramped," he said.

"well, if you reach your left hand down you should feel a wheel, turn it towards the back of the car, it will move the back of the seat down at an angle. Should make it a bit comfier, oh and put your belt on," she said as she pulled her own seatbelt on and started the engine. Putting the car reverse she pulled of the drive.

It took twenty minutes to get into the town and lizzie pulled up into the carpark.

"ok, I have a few errands to run, and then we can drive around and I can show you what's around," she said before picking up the carpark ticket she opened the door and stepped out of her car. closing her driver's door, she opened the rear door and picked her coat up, and pulled it on. Grabbing her bag, she slipped the ticket in to her bag, closed the car door. Looking over her car she could see dutchy standing by the car. Walking towards the lift bank, lizzie kept looking straight ahead, it was only when she stopped and was waiting for one to stop on the floor, she turned to dutchy. The was something about the way he was looking at her that made lizzies heart skip a beat.

"we need to talk," he said "about us," he added

"yeah, I know," she whispered so only he could hear her. "I'm sorry I ran out and only left a note. I had to see my grandmother before, you know," she added "it was one of the hardest things I ever had to do, I had to talk myself in to getting on to the plane, and I was too late. I spent 3 days traveling and I got home too late," she said braking down. Pulling her towards him, he held on to her, placing a kiss on her forehead, standing on her tip-toes she moved to kiss him, but he moved out of the way.

"shh, its fine," he said brushing a tear away with his thumb. They were brought back to the present by the lift doors opening. looking in to his eyes, lizzie stepped out from his embrace, and pulled a handkerchief from her pocket, and dabbed her eyes before they stepped into the lift and pressed the button for the floor they needed.

"sorry for crying over you by the way," she said looking at him.

"it's fine," he said holding out his arm "come here," he added. Lizzie took it and he pulled her in to his embrace again. The lift let them know they were on the ground floor, the walked-out arm in arm.

It took them two hours to do the errands in the shopping centre. Lizzie opened the boot of her car and placed the bags of shopping and her coat in to and closed it. "right, I can show you the local park, and the smaller town around," she said as she opened the driver's side door.

"park, I will be able to get an idea for running routes," he said

"ok," she said as she turned on the engine for the car. the journey from the carpark to the park took 15 minuets.

"sorry about this," lizzie said as the car shook as it moved over the uneven ground of the car park. "the council keeps saying that they are going to repair it but as of yet they haven't," she continued. finding a space that had no puddles of water or pot holes around she pulled the car in to the space. Pulling the brake on she reached around to the space behind her seat and pulled out a pair of running shoes. Taking. her brogues off, she slipped her feet in to the other shoes and ties the laces, it was a bit of a struggle but she managed it. Getting out of the car she nipped around to the boot and got her coat out and pulled it on.

Walking around the large boating lake that sat in the middle of the park. The lake had several parents holding back over excited children tossing in food for the ducks. Walking over to a bench she sat down and took a deep breath. Dutchy sat down next to her. Sliding along the bench, lizzie rested her head on his Sholder and felt his arm wrap around her waist.

"Can we start again?" she asked, looking in to his eyes.

Dylan stood up and walked a few paces to the lake side, lizzie followed him, and moved to stand Infront of him. Looking in to his eyes she misread his expression.

"i shouldn't have said anything, forget it" she said and moved to walk past him, when he put his arm out to stop her. Moving his free hand up to her cheek, he brushed his finger along it and lent down and placed a kiss on her lips, his fingers now running through her hair. Pulling back, he smiled at her. Lizzie moved her arms and wrapped them around his neck pulling him closer to her.

"does that answer your question," he said, before kissing her again pinning her against him. They were both oblivious to the rain that had started to fall. A loud rumble of thunder, broke the spell. Grabbing her hand, he pulled her and they started to run back to the car. The rain was pouring down by they reached the car, and lizzie opened the car quickly and they both climbed in. They both staired out the window for a few minutes before he turned to her, and brushed the hair that had stuck to her face away.
"we need to get home," lizzie said starting the car, and driving out of the car park.
Pulling up on to the drive, she quickly pulled on the hand brake and turned off the engine. Grabbing her handbag and house keys, she darted to the front door and opened it. Dylan followed her in to the house.
"Elizabeth is that you?" her mom called out from somewhere inside the house.
"yes mom, I'm just going to grab a shower, we got caught in the rain," she called back as she ran up the stairs and in to her snug. Shutting the door to her snug, lizzie then ran up the stairs to her room. Pulling off her wet clothes lizzie darted in to her en suite and turned her shower on and stood under it allowing the warm the hot water to warm her skin up. stepping out she grabbed her towel and wrapped around herself and walked in to her bedroom and saw dutchy standing in the doorway.
"what are you doing in my room?" she whispered as he walked towards her.
"this," he said pulling her towards him.
