Chapter 7: The Digital Shift
"Ow!" Sora came out of a computer/telephone hybrid stand, and saw he was in Shinjuku instantly. Looking around, he saw Takumi across the street waving at him. "Hey, glad you made it!" He called out to the keybearer.
The keyblade master looked around the streets for traffic, and went ahead to meet the digital teen. "So what happened?" Sora asked Takumi, who shrugged. "Don't know, was about to find out." The goggle headed teen said, walking towards the commotion.
A crowd blocked the scene as they tried to find out, although it was hard, they got through. It surprised both of them too, as data appeared at a subway. Curious, not knowing any better they went up ahead.
"Weird isn't it?" They heard Arata's voice call out, both Sora and Takumi turned to their left to see him. "Hey Arata!" Both Sora and Takumi happily said, who looked annoyed at them both.
The hacker then looked at the digitized subway, and walked towards it a little. "What a strange anomaly..." Arata said, as he walked towards it a little bit. Making Sora and Takumi worry a little.
Suddenly, a whistle could be heard. "Hold up! Do not enter!" Date's voice can be heard shouting, making Sora and Takumi shiver. Scared at what would happen if she catches them.
"She's such a pain..." Arata said, running towards the subway. Making them both worry about his safety, but Sora's good nature caught up and ran towards the subway also. With Takumi sighing as he went after the two of them.
"Hold up you're all under..." Officer Date called out, trying to catch Takumi and Sora. Only for the digitized teen and keybearer to go in. "...Arrest.." This clearly pissed her off as she growled in frustration.
Sora tripped, not knowing where he was now. Where was he? He looked around, and saw a few computers and someone in front of him, it was woman wearing a black and white suit, had purple hair, was wearing glasses and was holding a clipboard.
She smiled as she tipped her glasses, looking at the keybearer. "Uhh... Hello." Sora said, waving at the new person. "Greetings, Sora." The woman greeted the keybearer. The keyblade master was surprised, how did he know his name?
"My name is Mirei Mikagura, the person running this Digital Lab, or Digilab for Short." The woman introduced herself, walking towards and around Sora, examining him. It really confused him even more.
"So you're from another world? Very interesting..." Mirei said, smiling at the keybearer. Who nodded. But how did she know he was from another world? The woman smiled, lifting up her glasses again.
"How did you know about those things, Miss Mikagura?" The keyblade master asked, as the purple haired woman went back to her original position. "Please, just Mirei is fine." she told the keyblade wielder.
"However, I'm here to help you out." the woman said, holding her hand out. Not knowing anything, Sora went towards her. "Now, summon your keyblade." she told him, summoning the keyblade, Sora wondered what was going to happen.
Mirei tapped thin air, like a computer. A few zeros and ones appeared, surrounding his keyblade. And a blue light went into the weapon. The purple haired woman smiled as she pulled her hand away, seeing Sora looking in confusion.
"Allow me to explain." Mirei said to the keyblade master, who faced her. "You see, I encoded your keyblade with your own Hacker abilitles." Mirei told the keyblade master. Sora was puzzled, his own Hacker abilities?
"With this, you can unlock potential with your digimon. And maybe more." she explained. Sora wondered what Dorumon, Wizardmon or any of Takumi's digimon potential could be. Maybe they could go further into their digivolutions.
"There are some other things I needed to tell you, but it seems your friends need you now." Mirei said, with a blank expression. Sora walked back to the platform to return to where Takumi, Arata and their digimon are.
As she saw the keyblade master go back, she frowned slightly. "You need to go back, you don't belong in this place." she said silently as the keyblade master was gone.
Sora fell down a couple of steps from the subway entrance, only to be saved by Dorumon who caught him with his teeth. Both Takumi and Arata looked back to see the keybearer regaining his standing straight as Dorumon stood next to him.
"Hey Sora, where were you?" The goggled headed teen asked the keyblade master. Sora couldn't know what to tell him about the room he was for now, as he was confused and looked around.
All he saw were some holes showing space, like inside of Eden or Space Paranoids. "Is this really real?" The keybearer asked, Takumi nodded, while Arata just slapped his face in annoyance from him.
Looking at Arata's behaviour, it seems he wants to inspect the place some more. "You expect someplace like Oz?" Arata snidly commented on him. This comment made both Takumi and Terriermon snicker quietly as Sora has been in different worlds. And it might as well be a real place somewhere.
"Whatever, let's just go..." the raven haired hacker said before he was blocked by a few Shadow Heartless. "Are these digimon?" he inspected, only to have Sora, Dorumon and Terriermon attacking the few of them.
The keyblade master checked to see if there were any more, only to sigh of relief for a while. "What did you do!?" Arata called out, surprised at the sudden attack. Sora looked at Arata with a stern look.
"It was going to attack you." the keybearer told him, Arata wanted to yell at at the keybearer, but he just sputtered and just facepalmed. Only seeing a bit of Sora's keyblade disappearing from Sora's hand.
It was then Takumi came to them alongside Renamon who appeared. It looked like he was trying to call someone, but looked at bit annoyed at this point. "What's wrong, Takumi?" the keybearer asked him.
Takumi groaned in annoyance, and looked towards the keybearer. "I cannot seem to call the agency somehow." the goggle headed teen said, and Sora did the same. With Dorumon looking in annoyance.
"Wait, what agency?" Arata asked indifferently, although he wanted to know inside his head. "Oh, when i got out of EDEN after Sora. A detetective named Kyoko found and saved us from danger." the digital teen explained more information with Arata, while the raven haired teen just looked away from infdifferance.
"You're right, I can't get to the Agency." Sora said, as he put his Digivice into his pocket. Only to see an unfamiliar digimon appear before him, giving a creepy laugh. Sora looked around to see Arata giving himself a facepalm.
"Keramon..." The raven haired hacker said in a tired voice, the keybearer looked at the new digimon with caution. Keramon gave a cackle, while Sora is feeling a bit creeped out.
"Hello, i've been observing you lately." Keramon said with a chuckle, making the Keyblade master shiver a little from the digimon's comment. "You seem real interesting, including that giant key thing..."
Sora was really nervous, especially when some digimon about his keyblade. The keyblade master was about to say something else until he felt a prescence nearby. "Who's there?" The keyblade master said in a mature tone.
The keyblade master looked at the corner, along with the others looking at the corner as well. Out appeared a man in a white suit, purple scarf, black long coat, white messy hair. And by the look of his eyes, hasn't slept in a while.
"ah, sorry for interrupting you." the man said, in a creepy tone. "Um, so who are you?" Takumi asked first, puzzled that another human is inside the weird place. Sora noticed the man was fidigting a little.
"Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Akemi Suedo. A scientist" The man said, seeing Takumi and Arata's confused faces with Sora and the Digimon's (exluding Keramon) cautious looks on their faces.
"Akemi Suedo... That sounds familiar." Takumi said as he scratched his chin. The scientist chuckled a bit, and insisted not to dwell on it. "Mr Suedo, what is this place?" Arata asked the man, who was chuckling a bit more from the question.
"As you see, strange things have been happening recently, such as this place for example." Akemi explained to them, such as strange 'digimons' appearing mostly looking like ants. and places like they were in right now, calling it a Digital Shift... or something. Sora was getting confused.
"So, stuff from the internet are appearing and fusing in the real world?" Takumi asked, Akemi just nodded. "Of course, yet you were dumming it down with your friend there." The scientist told him truthfully, who pointed his finger towards the keybearer who looked hurt.
"So we need to go towards the source? This is interesting." Arata said as he was thinking about the whole thing. Yet Akemi continued looking at Sora, making the keyblade master shiver in fear for some reason.
"There is something i would like to know about you too." the scientist said, tilting his head a little. Sora was dreading what he was going to ask him about. "So, about that giant key you held earliar. I'm really curious about that." yup.
"So, how do we get out of here?" Takumi asked Akemi, changing the subject. Mostly because he feels like they need to get out of the place. The scientist looked at Takumi.
Still wondering about the keyblade, but also answered the question from the digital teen, he gave an answer that was always simple to someone like Sora. "Maybe, think of this place as your bodies. Find the source of the infection, and attack it like a white blood cell." Akemi said, looking directly at the keyblade master. "I'm getting the feeling you're mocking me now..."
A short while later, attacking a few Heartless, Arata was thinking as the battle ended. "Hey Arata, what're you thinking?" Takumi asked his hacker friend. All the while Arata was almost lost in thought.
"With Sora battling alongside the digimon. We need to set up a limit of sorts." The raven haired hacker explained. Takumi looked at the Keybearer and their Digimons, Sora was giving some items to help them heal from the battle.
After listening to Arata, Sora had Wizardmon in his Digivice while Takumi had Terriermon in his with Renamon out with him. Of course, while they were walking. The keyblade master had hit a roadblock.
there were some gates in front of them, although Sora and the others could jump over. Something was blocking the way... mostly because Sora was sucking his fingers from a shock!
Arata tried to scan a card through a scanner, but it beeped red as if it wasn't read. The raven haired hacker was lost in thought at this, all the while chuckling a bit.
"Well this is a really headache." Takumi said as he scratched his head. They got up a bit, and seeing that the room is pretty open, they headed over there to see something. a bright orb surrounded by zeros and ones.
Sora and Takumi eyed it, they know it looked suspicious. But what could they do? "This I gotta see!" Arata said quietly as he and their digimon followed them
Something was odd with the ball, the keyblade master felt like something could happen anytime. "heheehe!" came out a laugh, making the group look around for the source of the high pitched laugh.
And everybody immediately looked at Keramon. "Why is everybody looking at me?" Asked the digimon, only to hear laughter again. Making them turn to the source of the laughter.
Appearing in front of them is a bag with a Heartless emblem on it. And on top of the sack was a Heartless in dark blue garb with a raccoon mask. But what Sora noticed that something was missing, the ball of light!
So the keyblade master summoned his keyblade, with the digimon ready also as the heartless jumped onto the bag. All the while makeing a childish smacking the butt, which prompted Arata to facepalm and making both Sora and Takumi confused.
But a Heartless is a heartless after all, so the keyblade master summoned his Kingdom Key and jumped a nearby wall. But the heartless just jumped and started to roll the bag! Dorumon jumped and tried to attack the Heartless only to miss!
Arata's Keramon floated towards the Heartless, and swiped it. Making the Heartless fall off and looking dizzy, perfect for the surprise attack! As Renamon ran towards it and dive kicked it, making it farther away from the bag.
However, even if the Heartless was faraway from the bag. It dug into it's pockets and held a knife! It then threw it towards Takumi. Only for Dorumon to use one Metal Ball and shattering it.
It tried to get to Dorumon, only for said digimon's partner to attack with keyblade in hand. It flung towards a wall, heavily damaged. it slowly got up, the bag was disappearing as well as the heartless. Leaving a heart floating upwards and disappearing in front of their eyes.
The orb of light appeared and headed towards Sora, Takumi and Arata. it went to Sora and Arata's digivices, and Takumi's glove. Giving a glow and a message stating 'downloading' was complete.
The keyblade master gave a confused look, he looked at the raven haired hacker who was heading back with his digimon. Sora switched a tired Dorumon with Wizardmon, along with Takumi who swapped Renamon with Terriermon.
"That Heartless looked really tough, wasn't it?" Terriermon asked Takumi, who nodded at his partner. "Indeed, appearances can be deceiving." Wizardmon said as he lifted his hat a little to look at Sora, who smiled.
They saw Arata and Keramon walking back, with the raven haired hacker giving a thoughtful look. Thus, making all of them follow to where he was going.
Needing to know what would happen.
They returned to the stairs, with Arata holding his phone. Then scanned it on top of the rail, making a beeping noise. And the gate opened, making both Sora and Takumi look in awe.
Following the raven-haired hacker, Sora got out his digivice and Takumi used his his glove to get the gate to catch up with Arata. Hoping to get out soon, so they can call back Kyoko.
Downstairs, they saw Arata with arms cross and tapping his foot. Clearly, Takumi was worried so he went next to his side. "Hey, Arata. What's bugging yo..." the redhead asked before Arata's hands were on his shoulders.
"I have to know! what's it like being a detective?" The hacker asked Takumi, making both himself and Sora look a little confused, trying to find the answer.
All the keybearer could think of was that it's pretty fun... if you could try and taste Kyoko's coffee. But she sure is a good woman who helped both of them out, including getting away from Date for a while.
The Keybearer then looked worried when both Takumi and Arata held their heads in pain! Getting closer, he wanted to know what was wrong. "Are you okay?" Sora asked, putting his hand on both Takumi and Arata's shoulders.
"Those visions again..." Arata simply said, who looked up to see Sora's worried face. Arata just stood straight up, and gave the keybearer a distant look. "And quite looking like a sad puppy!" the hacker said dismissively at Sora.
Takumi was still confused from vision, because from that quick flash, he thought he saw both child figures looking like Arata and Nokia. But the others felt familiar too, yet he didn't see them.
It wasn't until something distracted them! What or who appeared in some kind of hologram-being, surprising the three humans and Terriermon. They couldn't know what to do, only to have the strange being walk ahead.
"Well 'detectives', do you think we should follow the clue?" Arata said dismissivly. Sora felt hurt by that remark. Not knowing why, but still needing to get out of the Digital Shift.
"A dead end?" Takumi asked, seeing nothing. But Sora felt something dangerous was coming, and looked up towards a train covered in hard lights. And saw a Shadow Heartless! Making the Keyblade master and the digimon ready to battle the creature.
But before that could happen, an Eater appeared! It grabbed the shadow. surprising the team! Fog began to surround the Eater, changing the creature. Making the creature twitch as a Heartless emblem on the forehead.
"It ate that digimon and asorbed it?" Arata said as he saw the Eater asorbing the Heartless. Sora was annoyed but needed to focus and defeat the Heartless Eater!
The Keyblade master ran towards it and tried to attack it. Only he barely made a scratch as the creature dodged it, only to have Wizardmon shoot out a big orb of fire on it. pushing it towards a wall.
Takumi waved his gloved hand and helped Digivolve Terriermon into Gorgomon, who used his machine gun hands, giving the Heartless Eater multiple damages that was small.
still, it wasnt much, but it still hurt the bugger.
Sora then fired a few shots of ice, making the creature scream in pain. And to the disbelief of Arata, Sora rode on the ice trail. Jumping and slamming his keyblade onto the Heartless Eater.
It tried to attack the keyblader with it's tenticles. Only for Sora to back away from it.
Sora looked at Wizardmon, both nodding and the wizard digimon jumped and shot a dozen shots towards the creature again.
The Heartless Eater tried to attack Wizardmon with it's tentacle, but Sora slashed it away from his partner. And then, the creature jumped towards the keyblade master to attack him.
Only to have seen Wizardmon come into his digivice and Dorumon digivolve into Dorugamon and used his tail to smack the creature back away, making Sora wonder what happened.
"You're welcome!" Arata called out to the keyblade master. Sora looked at the raven haired hacker, who had an annoyed look on his face. The keyblade master gave a quick "thanks"
Dorugamon opened his mouth, and shot out a few of his Heavy Metal attacks. One missed, but the others shot the target! And Arata's Keramon attacked it upwards, making the Heartless Eater flailing helplessly in the air.
Data then encoded around Sora's keyblade, making the keybearer look astonished. But seeing as the Heartless Eater was getting weak. The keyblade master lifted the Kingdom Key, and shot out ones and zeros.
The dangerous creature screamed as it disappeared, not knowing what was going to happen. Sora still had his keyblade just in case. "There, now thats over with..." was all Arata said before something happened around them!
A bright light surrounded all of them, closing their eyes. and they heard a bunch of cars and people chattering, Sora opened his eyes to see that they were back in Shinjuku! Wondering what was going on, Sora and Takumi looked towards Arata.
The raven haired hacker was talking to himself, like things about the place they were stuck in, and began to laugh to himself. But the way Arata was talking worried Sora. As he was getting gitty.
TWEEET! And both Sora and Takumi froze in fear, as Detective Date ran towards all three of them. "Anyway, have fun distracting the police!" the raven-haired hacker called out to them as he ran across the street before the lights turned red.
"Yeah you better be scared of me!" Date called out towards Arata, stating that she'll catch him someday. Meanwhile, Sora and Takumi quietly step back from her. Hoping to get away from her before she sees them.
But a cold glare from the fiery detective shocked them both, as Date gave an evil chuckle. Which unlike Arata's was determined, and both teens ran away from her. pissing the detective even more. "Hold it! Both are under arrest!"
luckily, Takumi and Sora escaped by going into the same computer stand Sora came through. And headed back to Nakano.
A while later, back at their room. Sora had gotten showered from a long day, and seeing Takumi looking at something. "Hey, what do you have there?" the keyblade master asked, Takumi stood up, and gave the card to him.
"It fell out of your pocket, do you know about it?" he asked, Sora observed it, the card had a nobody emblem. Sora's head began to bother him, he saw bits and pieces with seeing Kairi looking sad, to seeing the number 104.
Takumi saw Sora's disturbed face. Not knowing what to do, the red head sighed. "Come on, let's go to bed."
