Chapter 2 - What an Entrance!
Moments of silence had passed as the girl sat atop the counter and contemplated just exactly what had happened. First, she ends up with a massive headache and finds herself in Traverse Town. The refugee world, WHICH, has been completely eradicated with no signs of human life. And the cherry on top: Sora is completely responsible for all of this.
Sora, the protagonist of Kingdom Hearts... the good and caring hero... was a monster in this different universe. The girl shook her head and wondered how all of this was even possible. What could have caused Sora to become that way? What became of the residents of this world? What happened to Yuffie?
All there was were questions but no answers which caused her to sigh as she got off the counter. "I should find myself a weapon and begin my search around the other districts... this is only the first section of the refugee world after all." The girl stated as she rubbed her hands.
At that moment, the silence was broken by a crash that had occurred outside and shook the ground... along with making the girl jump up. What was that!? A meteorite? A gummi ship? Or... Heartless?
"Best to find a weapon quickly. Maybe I can surprise the intruder." The girl said, looking for something blunt like a hammer or crowbar.
Using the lantern, she searched the area around but found no blunt weapons in sight. Cursing her luck, she headed back up the forgery and took a quick look, lighting her way to make her job easier.
"Come on, there has to be something in here that can help me..." The brunette pleaded in the hopes she might end up being lucky.
Her search however yielded no results which annoyed her! DAMN IT!
"Lady Luck can only get me so far until it flips the finger at you." The girl annoyingly admitted.
Now what to do...? Go and confront the cause of the crash with nothing but her bare fists? That was a dumb idea! What else could she do: remain here and stay put until a proper plan could be prepared?
All in all, there was only thing to do. Investigate the crash and be prepared to run towards a safe location at the first sign of danger.
Exiting the forgery, she turned a corner and walked down the stairs only to become stunned by the sight that was in front of her. She was expecting some sort of giant Heartless or other monsters... yet what she didn't expect was a huge block of ice!
"What. The. Fuck." The girl commented in disbelief.
A Block of ice... a block of freaking ice! Where did this even come from? Did it fell from the sky or something? As she pondered the questions, she noticed a shadow from inside the block of ice... it seemed to resemble a human? The girl became surprised once more.
A human trapped inside the ice? What the hell is this... Captain America?, the girl questioned in her mind.
She poked the ice a bit but it didn't budge at all. Hmm, wonder if she could break the person from his ice prison without killing him? With tools if she could find any... yet the search in the forgery beheld no results. What was she supposed to do now?
The girl stroked her chin yet no grand idea was coming up in her head. Perhaps she should search the forgery again... she did remember seeing some boxes but didn't get the chance to search them properly.
Perhaps now was the chance to do a proper search and maybe this time, she'll find what she's looking for in those boxes. Running away from the ice, she returned to the forgery and began her work. This time, Lady Luck was on her side because some of the boxes beheld some items that would be of use to her - a hammer, chisel and a small flamethrower that could be of use in melting the ice away.
"Perfect." The girl admitted with a grin as she grabbed the tools before bolting it out through the door.
Returning to the block of ice, she got to work in freeing the prisoner. Although that would be a bit troublesome since she never had any sort of experience in breaking ice nor sculpting so she resorted in doing what she did best: being careful in her actions and having patience. She gently nailed the chisel and began to bang it with the hammer against the ice slowly.
It began to chip away as the girl continued to chisel. A couple more bangs and she will be able to liberate the unknown person from his icy prison.
"Soon, I'll have a glimpse at our mysterious caveman in the ice." The girl joked with a smile.
She kept banging on the ice in different locations as it continued to break apart slowly. Patience and chiseling in the correct spots was the key to this puzzle.
Eventually, she hit the jackpot as the last banging she did with the hammer caused the ice block to crack in two... Once the person was freed, her reflexes kicked in and grabbed the person before he could collapsed on the ground. Yet she immediately yelped in panic as the person was quite heavy!
"Ugh... how many pounds do... do... you... weight... Wait... the fuck!?" The girl swore in disbelief after noticing who she was caring.
She immediately put him down gently on the ground and breathed slowly as her gaze was then directed at the person in question. He was a young male... around her age no doubt along with his height. His skin was slightly tan while his brown-caramel colored hair was shaped into a spiky-styled one but significantly shorter and less spiky.
He looked like he was wearing a black V-neck t-shirt with white hemming and black shorts with gray pockets with the shorts being tight around the calves. Underneath the shirt, he equipped the longer black-hooded jacket with red hemming, gray pockets with white hemming, and red flannel flaps that are held down by a series of yellow buttons.
His shoes were blackish-yellow with the ankle and tongue of the shoe folded down and a single black strap. His gray finger-less gloves came to a v-style on his hands and were just short of his elbow - they had red hemming and a yellow strap around the wrist along with a silver circle plate on the back of the hand. A crown necklace rested around his neck.
The girl's expression was one of disbelief. Her eyes had to have been lying to her! There was no way that it was...
"Sora?" The girl stated with confusion and disbelief on her face.
Questions had formed in her brain. How was this possible? What exactly was going on and which Sora was this - the canon or the alternate one? How did he even get locked in an ice block?
A small silence occurred as bit her lip before she opened her mouth. "Should I take him down?" She questioned with uneasiness on her face.
Was this possibly the Sora that was mentioned in Yuffie's journal? Should she eliminate him quickly and save herself the trouble? Although, she paused as her irises moved around his attire from the top to bottom. His clothes seemed familiar. Like... Kingdom Hearts III. Wait... was this the Sora from the canon timeline?
Not only his clothes but his hairstyle too. Everything about this Sora just screamed 'Canon-verse' due to her remembering his exact appearance having played a little bit of the third game herself.
But here laid the main problem - she had no clue what the alternate Sora looked like. For all she knew, he could be using a spell of some kind to mask his appearance and adopting his 'Kingdom Hearts III' form.
The girl wondered what to do or even how to act in a situation like this. Take him out quickly or wake him up to get some answers for her questions.
Closing her eyes, she thought of her options on what to do. Her mind drifted off to different ideas as the boy remained unconscious for a little bit longer.
Eventually, the boy began to stir as his tanned eyelids slowly opened to reveal a pair of sea-blue irises.
Sitting up, he looked around to see where he was but for the moment it was impossible since his vision was blurry. Upon rubbing his eyes, the picture became more clearer.
Looking at his surroundings, he discovered a sense of familiarity with this place although couldn't quite put his finger on it.
"What happened...? Where did I end up? Ugh, my head." Sora admitted, rubbing his poor head.
All the while the brunette teen girl snapped out of her thoughts when she overheard Sora's voice. Turning slowly, she found out that he was no longer asleep and instead was examining her surroundings. Then her reflexes kicked in and immediately grabbed both of his hands and slammed him to the ground.
"You're not going anywhere!" She warned him with a venomous tone.
"What!? What did I do?! I didn't do anything wrong!" Sora admitted truthfully.
However the girl wasn't buying his act for a moment and increased the pressure. "Don't play cute with me! You're under arrest, I think... just don't do anything dumb and answer my questions!" She demanded.
Sora was so confused at the moment. "I have no idea what's going on..." He admitted.
All he could remember was being atop a building, facing off against Yozora... then losing and... that was it. He couldn't remember much of anything else. Now though he awoke here in this familiar town and is being questioned by a unfamiliar face.
But what came next was a question that he didn't expect to hear. "What did you do to Yuffie!?" The girl demanded.
It caught Sora off guard. What... what kind of question was that?
"I didn't do anything to her! The last thing I've heard while on my journey is that she's alive and well... living in Radiant Garden alongside the rest of my friends. That's the whole truth!" Sora answered without any lies.
The girl, not believing him, frowned. "Oh, really? Leon and Aerith? You mean the two you toyed with before commencing with the murdering!?" She asked.
"Murder?! Why would I murder them!? I'd never hurt anyone!" Sora admitted.
How could the girl claim a shocker like that!? He stood by his word and was truthful! He could never bring it upon himself to inflict pain upon others! Only for his enemies!
The girl however wasn't convinced and kept her grip on him tight. "You want proof you did a bad thing?" She asked him.
Might as well humor him and see if there was any truth to his words.
"Yes, please. I'm honestly confused on what is going on... I'm telling you the truth. I had nothing to do with any of these allegations that you claim towards my friends." Sora stated.
The girl contemplated his words for a couple of seconds and then released his hand. "Stay put and don't do anything stupid... or else." She warned him.
"Yes, miss." Sora obliged like a good boy.
The girl headed back into the ruins of the Accessory Store while Sora sat on the ground, wondering what was going on.
Awakens in a place that screams familiarity, gets held by a teenager around his age and she reveals that he had killed his friends. That didn't sound like him at all... he loved all of his friends individually. Donald and Goofy included.
As Sora contemplated these thoughts in his head, he still wondered about the state of this place and why it seemed so-
Then his brain blocked as a possible theory on his whereabouts popped up. Yuffie's mention... along with his friends. The decor of this area and the houses... wait... wasn't this...?
But he didn't have the time to ponder the answer as a pair of footsteps interrupted his current train of thought. The girl had soon returned holding the diary that beloved to Yuffie Kisaragi.
She handed it over to Sora and kept her frown. "Take a look at this and read it until the end. No skipping and you'll see why." She explained to him.
Giving a nod, Sora opened the diary and began to read the first page of the book while the girl crossed her arms and moved around in a circle as if she was his warden, keeping an eye on him to make sure he didn't do anything stupid.
As Sora kept reading, his face slowly morphed into confusion, which turned to horror. The contents of the page was enough to make him feel sick. This couldn't be real! He couldn't have done these things! He loved his friends... ALL OF THEM!
Judging from the horrified look on his face, the girl was starting to see that this wasn't the Sora from this universe but the canon-verse one... he definitely knew nothing of this world at all.
Once he finished reading, Sora's expression became one of distraught and fear... followed by many other emotions. "I... I would never do that... I... can't believe I did that." Sora admitted softly.
He couldn't believe that his alternate self had turned to the darkness, slaughtered his friends, corrupted Kairi... and possibly other terrible things that he was unaware of yet.
The girl raised her hand. "Calm down, buddy. Let's take it one step at a time. First thing - where are we?" The girl inquired as she gave Sora the freedom to look around.
"Well... I could be wrong but it's Traverse Town, although not the one that I know from my universe. It's all destroyed... by my other self." Sora admitted, disgusted at how his other self could do this.
"Definitely... place is a literal ghost town." The girl agreed with a nod.
That's the understatement of the century... though Sora had one more question on his mind. Possibly the most important one since he had just met this newcomer... and possible friend.
"What's your name, by the way?" Sora wondered.
The girl helped him up from the ground before answering. "My name... is not to be used since I often go with a nickname. You may call me Reseliee or Res for short."
Author's Notes: Another chapter ready to be uploaded and for you all to read... still short than expected so I apologize for that. More to come with longer sentences and more expanse... hopefully.
As usual, I don't own Kingdom Hearts nor its canon characters. Just the idea for the story. Happy reading!
