Wolf Princess Chapter 15
Since Firenze had been here for the past few years he now knew the place quite well. He showed me the rest of the classrooms that belonged to the teachers along with the others inside. Firenze made sure that I especially knew about some particular places in the castle. One in particular was the infirmary. He explained to me that if I ever had an ailment or sickness I had to go there to get myself healed. The castles library seemed interesting. I hadn't seen any books before so when Firenze informed me what they are for I became far more interesting in learning how to read my letters.
Then there was the kitchens and the Great Hall. Bot of these places are so huge. While Firenze was showing me the kitchen I noticed throughout the room. Most of them were only a little bit higher than my knee and reaching the bottom of my waist.
Firenze proceeds to explain what they were to me.
"They are House-Elves," he said. "They live here and serve the castle. They cook and clean for the occupants that live her during each school year."
I nodded at his words showing him that I understood, but they're still strangely peculiar to me.
The Great Hall was an even bigger marvel than the kitchens were. I was amazed when I gazed up at the ceiling and instead of stone I found myself peering at the sky.
Voicing my astonishment, I said "How can this be? From the outside I could see pure rock and stone covering this place, but in here I can only see sky."
Chuckling, Firenze said "It's actually quite simple. A spell is used to enchant the ceiling in order to make it look like the sky outside. I was surprised, too, when I first saw it. You'll soon get accustomed to it as you grow to spend your time in this place."
After that the two of us moved onto the grounds outside the castle. Firenze notified me that I'd be capable to move around freely, but I'd have to watch out for a few places. There was a large tree, a willow, on the grounds that at first appears harmless, but Firenze told me otherwise.
I began to move over and get a better look when Firenze halted me.
Holding out his arm to block, Firenze said "I wouldn't do that if I were you."
"Why," I asked, curious.
A bird flew by us and darted for the willow. As soon as it got close it went to land on a branch, but it never got that chance. The same branch shot out and brutally knocked the bird out of the air. The bird fell and hit the ground dead.
Cringing, I said "Now I get it."
Agreeing with it, Firenze said "The Whomping Willow is not something to mess with. You'd be wise to stay away from it. It try's to kill anyone that goes near it as you've just seen."
"Trust me, I'll keep well away from it," I said.
Another place he told me to be weary of is the Black Lake. I had seen large amounts of water before in the forest. The den that I shared with me family was surrounded by a lot of it and the river connected with the waterfall held planet of it, but I had never seen anything like this.
"Incredible," I whispered, awed by the sight.
"Yes, it is quite beautiful," said Firenze. "The first time I saw it I felt the same way. Unfortunately, like the Whomping Willow this lake is still dangerous."
"How," I asked.
Gesturing at the waters edge, Firenze said "There are many creatures living in this water. Most of them are friendly while others are not. If you do wish to get into the water then it would be wise to remain in the shallows."
"I'll keep that in mind," I said.
After that Firenze shows me the rest of the castle boundaries. All in all the tour took most of the rest of the day to finish up.
At the end to this grand tour the two of us stood at a section that is overlooking everything else here. I thought it was dazzling before, but from where I am it was beyond all that.
Firenze and I keep there just drinking it all in.
At one point my gaze is drawn over to the forest and when it did I thought of my mother and brothers. I know that it had only been a day since I had left them, but I was already starting to miss them. This was peculiar because in the past I had been away from them for the same amount of time. This felt extremely overwhelming. Maybe it's since I felt that I wouldn't be able to see them everyday similar to how I used to. I kept wondering if my mother and brothers miss me as much as I miss them and whether they were thinking of me.
Authors Note:
Hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it! ;D
I don't know about the rest of you, but I saw the new movie Avengers Endgame on the big premiere night! Oh man, I couldn't believe it. I am so happy they didn't cut anything, actually make and keeping the three hours running time. There was so much going on that it probably would've ruined it if they did that.
I need your shared opinions.
In light of Avengers Endgame, in preference to my Rise Of The Snow Queen series, what do you all think of a one-shot or flashback chapter for in between where Loki is with Thanos before he heads to Earth?
Here's the idea I'm trying to get at maybe Loki catches a glimpse of his sister on Jotunheim. Because in Rise Of The Snow Queen 2 he makes it very clear that he already knows she's a Queen. So maybe that can be very suitable this time around for our girl.
So, what do all of you hardcore Avengers fans think?
Should I do it?
