Wolf Princess Chapter 23

Peeves the resident poltergeist, that resides in the castle is locked in a trap against the adjacent wall. The most intriguing thing about this scene it that Peeves has arrows sticking through his clothes keeping him stuck to the wall and preventing him from fleeing for his life.

Going over to the poltergeist with an amused expression covering his face, Remus said "Well this is an interesting situation."

Peeves growled but doesn't comment while trying to tug himself free from the restraints.

Chuckling, Remus said "I can only guess what you did to get our guest to do this to you."

"I didn't do nothing," burst out Peeves, protesting his innocence. "I was just floating around and minding my own business-."

"Yeah, yeah, you say that every time," interrupted Remus, taking out his wand and pointing it at Peeves causing the arrows to vanish. "Now move along and leave Numa alone."

Peeves blow a loud and obnoxious raspberry at Remus and fly backward all the way down the hall. With Peeves now out of the way Remus enters the courtyard in search of me. It isn't too difficult for him to figure out where I am. The willow is the most sheltered of the trees in the entire courtyard.

Remus is extremely careful about his approach as he comes toward the willow. He didn't want to do anything to warrant some kind of attack on him like Peeves has.

When he is about halfway there he got a huge shock. An arrow shoots out across the air landing at the direct spot where he is about to plant his foot.

"Take another step and it'll be your last," I threatened, snarling.

"Take it easy, Numa," said Remus. "You know I'm not here to hurt you."

At his words I lower my bow and remove the arrow from the bowstring. A moment later I leap down from my comfortable seat in the willow. Straightening my posture, I stare at him with my eyes narrowed and arms crossed.

"I suggest you don't come near me like that again," I cautioned, moving forward. "I could very well have killed you."

"I'll keep that in mind," said Remus, chuckling in amusement. "Especially given I wouldn't want to end up like Peeves was before. What exactly warranted you to reprimand him like that in the first place?"

"He provoked me, I answered, shrugging offhandedly and reclaiming my arrow.

"I can see that," observed Remus. "But what exactly did he do to provoke you?"

"He unwisely snuck up on me while I was taking a nap," I said. "Even my brothers know not to do that. They may be quite large, but they know that I can easily break their jaws. The only one whom has ever gotten away with something like that is my mother. When you live in the forest with a number of other predators you become acclimated to it and turn into a very light sleeper."

"I know how that is," said Remus, sighing.

Smiling I gaze up at the wall where I had aimed my arrows and instead of them still being there, I found them gone.

Wheeling around in a turn towards Remus, I asked "Where are my arrows?

Appearing a tiny amount sheepish at the interrogation, hesitantly, he said "Uh, well…"

"Remus," I said, warningly, eyes blazing.

Seeing I'm not going to tolerate any sort of nonsense Remus gives in.

"To release Peeves I used a vanishing spell on them," confesses Remus, reluctantly bringing his eyes up to meet my angry ones.

"Make them reappear now," I demanded, teeth gritted and eyes hard.

"I can't," he said.

"Then make new ones," I ordered, not giving him any other option out.

Remus motions with his want at some fallen branches lying there on the ground where instantly they are transformed into exact copies of the original arrows.

"Thank you," I said, pleased, claiming and adding them to the others.

"Your welcome," said Remus, an intrigued expression on his face as he watches me take a bite out of a piece of meat. "What are you eating?"

"A robin," I answered, swallowing the piece I currently have in my mouth at present and then taking another.

"Excuse me," said Remus, not quite sure if he heard her correctly.

"Yes, a robin," I said, confirming what he heard and finishing off the meat. "There was a robin close to where I was sleeping, and I was hungry."

I then dispose of the remaining bones onto the dirt.

Remus gulps, noting the fresh blood on my lips and surround a bit around my mouth. I then do away with the last of the delicious meat.

Turning to Remus, I said "Now then I'm guessing you didn't come here just because of Peeves. Why were you looking for me?"

Clearing his throat, Remus said "Before the new term begins there are things you will need in order to appropriately fit in here. I've been charged with the task to help you acquire these materials."

"Like what," I asked, head tilting.

"Clothes and other necessities you will require, but mainly a new wardrobe," clarifies Remus. "You'll, also, be able to walk among other humans before the students arrive. That way you'll be somewhat prepared when being faced with large crowds so that you won't be so nervous."

Sighing in resignation, I said "If that's the way it has to be."

"Professor McGonagall is waiting for us at the front gates," said Remus. "Before we head down there you should probably wash your face."

"Why," I asked, not seeing the point.

"People of this world aren't really accustomed to seeing a woman walking around in public with blood all over her lips," said Remus. "Something like this would normally freak them out and right now it's better not to draw attention to yourself."

Shrugging offhandedly, I scamper over to the fountain in the center of the courtyard. Staring at my reflection I can see that there was some leftover blood on my lips and a few drops surrounding my mouth. It's not really that noticeable, but if Remus had seen them then others can easily do so, too. Usually this wouldn't bother me. Not caring at all about this, but…if Remus says this will definitely scare people then I have no choice. I quickly and meticulously plash water onto my face, rubbing the remaining blood away. Eventually not a trace of it is left once I was done.

Heading back over to Remus I see him neck craned back looking up at the branches as if searching for something else.

"What are you doing," I said, bemused.

"Looking for that cloak of yours," said Remus. "Don't you have it with you?"

Shaking my head, I said "No, it's back in my chambers along with my other belonging. The air was warm so I didn't think I would need it."

Pointing his wand down the hallway, Remus said "Accio."

He then replaces it in his robes.

A couple of seconds later my cloak comes flying down the length of the hallway into his outstretched hand. 'Extending out my cloak in offering, Remus said "Here."

"I won't be needed it," I insisted, waving my hand. "It's warm outside and the temperature will just continue to rise, getting higher. If I wear that I'll just get too hot."

"In case you have forgotten, Numa, no one in this community wears such revealing attire as you do in public. Also, we already agree upon that it would be better not to draw any attention for the moment. Leaving your cloak behind without proper covering is a disaster waiting to happen," objected Remus.

Defeated, I said "All right. I'll do as you have suggested."

I then wrap the cloak around my shoulder where it manages to cover move of my body so it shouldn't be the cause of any mishaps while in Diagon Alley. Giving me a quick once over, Remus said "I don't see any other problems. No one will be paying any mind to your bare feet and if they do we'll just use an excuse that we're buying you some new shoes. But I do think you should leave your bow and arrows behind. There won't be much need for them where we're going."

Severely irritated, I said "All the same I'd rather keep them with me. I never go anywhere without my bow."

"But-," began Remus, immediately ceasing what he was saying when he spots the stormy expression on my face.

I have submitted to keeping my cloak at his request, but I was not going to leave my weapons behind. That's asking for too much. Remus can tell very well that if he tries to remove my bow he would be dead, decked in less than ten seconds flat.

Raising placating hands in surrender, Remus said "All right, keep them. We'll figure something out. Now lets go. McGonagall is waiting."

The two of us then head for the front gates with Remus leading the way.

Upon seeing us coming, Professor McGonagall said "All set?"

"All set," said Remus, nodding.

"Then let's get going," urged Professor McGonagall.

"Uh, where exactly are we going," I said.

"Diagon Alley," replied Professor McGonagall.

"What's Diagon Alley," I asked, stumped and skeptical.

The same mysterious smile then appears on both of their faces.

"You'll see when we get there," said Remus, grinning. "Trust us, Numa. Diagon Alley will be nothing like you've ever experienced in your entire life."

I constantly look in between the two, but lets it slide temporarily.

Instead I said "How will we be getting to this Diagon Alley? Are we to be running in order to reach our destination?"

Professor McGonagall and Remus both have to hold in their laughter.

"What's wrong," I said, suspiciously.

"Nothings wrong, Numa. We just won't be running to Diagon Alley. If we do that then it would take days simply to travel there and equally as long to get back," explains Remus.

"If we aren't traveling on foot then how will we be getting there," I said, dumbfounded.

"By magic," said Remus, moving toward me. "Take my arm and hold on tight."

Accepting his arm, I aid "Why do I have to-?"

I never got to chance to even finish that question.

Authors Note:

Happy 8th Anniversary!

In honor of the brand-new Justice League: Dark Apokolips War film that just came out I uploaded a new story called Morning Star based off of it. Please check it out and let me know what you think. It would really mean a lot to me to see what your thoughts are about it.

Also, watching it gave me a certain idea. What do you guys think of me combining my characters Audrina from Heart Of Atlantis and Danika from this one once we get to this new movie?

Also, I still haven't figured out what Danika's superhero name should be. I really need this figured out because the following chapter after this one will be where her superhero name is chosen for this story. The choices are now down to Tempest and Twilight.

Just a heads up I'm accepting suggestions on numerous shows, books, and movies to write about in the future. You see I'm trying to reach my goal of 100 stories on my profile. Currently I have 4 left to go after this one until I get there. So think it over and if I feel a connection with what you suggest I'll do it.

I hope you all like this one! I certainly did while writing it for your vast enjoyment! ;D

I've been meaning to get back to this one for a while and only now I've managed to find time and inspiration for it. I'm very satisfied and happy about it. Apologies for it taking so long. I've been debating on how to go about it for a while and finally figured it out.

Right now during this epidemic with the coronavirus that's impacting every nation in the entire world we really do need find whatever sources we possibly can in order to lighten our spirits. Especially those who are unfortunately stuck sick or those locked in self isolation in order to prevent both contraction and spread of the illness. For those of us who have the abilities to do this we have a duty to keep up morale and that's exactly what I wholeheartedly desire these new stories and updates concocted during this time do for you.

I have other grand news! I was a patron at New York Comic Con 2019! Ah! I'd been dying to go for years and now I had the opportunity. The Jokers from Impractical Jokers have been here along with Tom Hiddleston and so many others. Over those few days I actually got my picture taken with a couple of other actors/actresses and some really great panels. It really is so exciting there. This is an opportunity of a lifetime so there's no way in hell that I was going to waste a single second of it. No one ever should with something like this. Ever! ;D

For future preferences I highly recommend that you all keep an eye out for when tickets for New York Comic Con are available for purchase again for next year. This is a huge event and you should jump on it whenever you have the chance. Unfortunately this year it appears like Comic Con might be skipped not just in New York, but also in all it's regular places during the course of scheduled events. I think we all know the reason for it is plain as day.

The coronavirus.

Can't exactly blame with how dreadful things are getting in escalation and the fact that places like the Javits Center in New York have been temporarily converted into makeshift hospitals in order to deal with the overflow of people contracting infections from this rapidly spreading virus that might as well be called a plague at this point. Let's keep fingers crossed that an aim is to have this pass us before then so things can get back on track. If it is then New York Comic Con might be exactly what people need in order to lighten their spirits after all this darkness. Stay safe everyone and long to eventually see you there.
