Chapter Twelve.

Out side of the Old House, Eric was at the door and he looked around to make sure that there were no witnesses. He wanted to get this over and done with her. Eric had his hand on the gun. He turned the door knob and surprisingly, the door was unlocked before he walked in. Eric saw the candles were lit in side and he wondered who would be around at this home. He never bothered knocking, so he opened the door to walk in.

When he walked in slowly and cautiously, Eric looked around the living area and he saw more candles lit and the chandelier hanging in the center of the room. He figured that some one was home. All was silent for the moment until. "If I may ask, sir. What are you doing here in my house?" Barnabas asked him coldly with a wicked murderous glare. The vampire knew that this was the man, who was out looking for Juliet and to kill her.

Eric looked at Barnabas with a nervous laugh. "Oh, sir, I was wondering if you know a woman here named, Juliet Mathews around here? I've come to take her home with me." He asked him with an evil grin.

The vampire sensed that he was not coming out of this house alive. "Oh, I have not seen her around here." He lied, trying to get him to leave or going to kill him if he stayed longer than expected. "Maybe, she moved out of town." He added with a grin. Barnabas can feel Juliet's fear for the vampire. Then he saw the gun that Eric was trying to hide. He read his mind of what this mad man was going to do.

Eric looked as if he did not believe him, so he looked around the first floor some more and then, he looked towards the stairs. "So, maybe around up stairs here?" He said as he was looking for trouble and Barnabas could tell this. This man was no good what so ever. When the vampire walked closer to where this man was at the foot of the stairs, Eric took out his gun and he pointed it at Barnabas. "Now, stop right there where you are, mister. I'll go see what's up these stairs here. Okay?" He said.

At Eric's words, the vampire's eyes widened when this man was slowly walking up the stairs with his gun pointing at him. Barnabas glared at him and he started to walk towards him. Eric told him to stay where he was, but the vampire kept walking slowly towards him. "You will not get out of this house alive." He said dangerously calm to him.

Eric aimed his gun at Barnabas at the ready. "Get back. I'm warning you." He said firmly. And then, he shot at the vampire. Thankfully, the bullets were not silver at all to kill him. The bullets hit him in the chest, but they did not hit his heart. So, Barnabas kept walking slowly dangerously towards him. "What in the world are you?!" Eric shouted at the top of his lungs in horror as he fired another shot in the chest. The minute he saw his fangs bared towards him, Eric now realized that this man is one of the living dead.

Up the stairs in Josette's room, Willie was at the door, listening to the commotion down the stairs and Juliet was sitting on the bed, listening as well. The moment she heard the words, 'what in the world are you.' Mathews covered her mouth with her hand in surprise shock. She now realized that when she moved to Collinsport, she felt the pull that some one wanted her there.

She shook her head in amazement. "Oh my God." She whispered to herself. But Willie heard her with the look of worry and curiosity on his face, wondering what she was talking about. Juliet smiled as she chuckled. She looked up at him. "He's a vampire." She said with a sigh and a tender smile. She looked up at Willie, whose jaws dropped to the floor at her words. He was really afraid that the vampire would or will kill his love. But her reaction was that Mathews was not really afraid of him at all.

Willie was worried and he shook his head. "Juliet, you need to get out of here right now before Barnabas comes in here and gets you." He said, being afraid for her. But Mathews shook her head as she softly smiled at him.

"I've always believed in vampires, Willie. Even though, my parents when I was younger. And they thought I was crazy, but I always believed in them. That they exist in this world." She told him. Loomis' eyes widened in shock. He was afraid for Juliet now. But he had to see if Barnabas' reaction towards her knowing of his dark secret. The vampire never wanted any one to know of what he is.

Mean while, down the stairs, Eric was screaming just before Barnabas quickly wrapped his hands around his throat, strangling him. Barnabas was putting enough pressure on Eric's neck by his own hands. The man took his last breath when his neck snapped broken. Barnabas watched on as Eric's eyes closed and he fell and died on the floor.

After he killed Eric, the vampire could sense that Juliet was not really afraid of him and that was a big surprise to him. Barnabas looked up the stairs towards Josette's old bed room where his Juliet was in with the tender look on his face and he could feel that his love was not afraid of him, but she was afraid of losing him. Juliet was scared that the vampire would disappear for ever. Barnabas left Eric's life less body on the floor before he began walking slowly up the stairs towards Josette's room.
