Chapter 6! I'm super excited for this one!
Disclaimer: I do not own Ninjago.
Chapter VI: Lose or Lose
Ideas were thrown back and forth among the ninja. Some good, some bad, but all considered thoroughly. Eventually, it got so late that they had to head back to the monastery, continuing to throw ideas around in the game room until four o' clock in the morning.
"What if we went to get Aspheera back?" Jay yawned, barely awake.
The other ninja paused, unsure if he was giving an actual idea or talking in his sleep. When no response came, Jay opened his eyes wider to look at the others, confused.
"Are-are you serious?" Lloyd asked, getting more and more irritable as the night went on.
"Yeah," Jay responded as if it was obvious. "She could steal you guys' powers back."
"And become fugitives again? No thanks," Cole was the most awake of them all, having the caffeine from his chocolate cake to boost him up.
"Besides, then Aspheera will have Kai's and Cole's power, which won't be fun," Lloyd continued.
"And Neuro's," Kai added.
Jay hadn't actually heard the reasoning for why his idea was bad because it was then that he fell back asleep.
"We could try to..." Nya trailed off as she tried to think of anything that could work. "Reason? With him?"
The awake ninja looked at her like she was crazy. Except for Kai.
"He doesn't seem like the kind of guy to just talk," Cole pointed out.
"Couldn't hurt," Kai replied.
"We lost our powers last time," Cole said angrily, "which, might I add, did hurt."
"So maybe he can give it back somehow."
"Is that even possible?" Nya asked.
"Some have tried," Wu said as he entered the room, "but none have succeeded."
"Where have you been?" Kai asked.
"Studying the previous elemental masters. I, too, came to the conclusion that your powers could somehow be returned willingly and found nothing but a history of past failures and family strife. The most recent of these being Kai and Nya's grandfather."
The siblings looked to each other, confused.
"The previous water master?" Nya asked.
"Fire," Wu corrected. "Yes."
The siblings sat up a little straighter, ears open to listen about the man their own father had never known.
"Dr. Elio was an archaeologist, and the master of fire before Ray. Since the moment he unlocked his true potential, he wanted nothing more than to return his power back to his father. Instead, he discovered a powerful stone that could increase an elemental water master's power tenfold."
"Woah!" Nya's eyes went wide. "I could use something like that to defeat the fire monsters."
"And Flint," Zane added.
"Where is it?" Lloyd asked.
Wu sighed. "When Elio realized what it was, he became frustrated and threw it into the Boiling Sea."
The other ninja winced as they realized what that meant for them.
"What's the Boiling Sea?" Skylor asked.
"Basically water on fire," Cole told her.
"Why'd he take it there?" Lloyd asked.
"It would make sense that in his anger, he would wish to prevent anyone else from finding such an item," Zane theorized.
The ninja were solemn as they struggled to think of what to do. However, Nya's eyes suddenly lit up.
"Do you still have the Dragon Blade, bro?"
"Yep," Kai smirked as he walked out of the room, returning a few moments later with the blade in his hand.
Wu nodded in approval before saying, "You and Nya will return to the Boiling Sea and find the stone."
Nya lit up at the idea of being with her brother again. She stood up to face him and held out her hand for a high five. Kai gave this to her, but as soon as he let his guard down, she stole the Dragon Blade from him and ran.
"Hey!" Kai exclaimed, running after her.
He could hear the others laughing behind, but he tried not to care. Now he would finally get some quality time with his sister.
Wu chuckled as the two siblings ran away. Though, there was a hint of sadness in his eyes as he did.
"What's wrong, master?" Cole asked.
"Elio was once a good friend of mine. He was kind and protective of those he loved. But when he found out about his fire, all that changed. I do not wish to hurt Kai and Nya with this information. Their grandfather was not a good man when he unlocked his True Potential. He believed it to be an unbreakable curse. He did everything he could to get rid of it. Having Ray was his last resort, and when he found out his plan worked, he left. I do not know where he went after that. Or if he is still alive."
The ninja master was deeply saddened at the memory of his old friend, but as he watched the fire ninja chase his sister all the way to the courtyard, his spirits lifted.
Nya threw the blade into the air and shot her power at it. Kai did the same with his power and the Fusion Dragon was created. The siblings hopped onto his back and headed off. The rest of the ninja followed in the Bounty.
"Hey, do you think there could be stones for all the elements?" Jay asked over the intercom so Kai and Nya could hear.
"What do you mean?" Lloyd asked.
"Well, if there's a water stone, there could be a lightning stone, right?"
"Perhaps," Zane responded.
"Ooh! Like a collection of stones. That would be so cool!" Jay exclaimed.
"Sure would make things a lot easier," Skylor added. "We could just grab the fire stone and Kai could become even stronger than Flint."
"Getting my power back is how we got into this mess," Kai grumbled, referring to his journey to get his power back with Skylor all those months ago.
"Flint stealing our powers is how we got into this mess," Cole replied gently, "but don't worry. We'll stop him."
Kai couldn't help but pout slightly. If Nya noticed, she didn't say anything.
Finally, they made it to the Boiling Sea.
"The current isn't strong here so it should be fairly simple to find the stone. If you have any trouble, just let us know," Zane said.
"Okay," Nya replied. "We'll be back soon. You ready, Kai?"
A smile from her brother and then, "Take it away, sis."
Nya pulled the reigns, and the two headed dragon zoomed down into the water, protecting them with its combined power of fire and water. The siblings were left perfectly comfortable within their little bubble as the dragon swam through. Nya continued maneuvering the elemental beast until they finally reached the bottom. Even though they were in a literal burning body of water, the sand looked like it was from any other beach or ocean floor.
"So where do you think it is?" Kai asked.
"I don't know," Nya said, "but like Zane said, it can't be far."
The two started their journey along the ocean floor, carefully scanning every crevice, nook, and cranny.
At the top of Borg Tower sat the cause of Ninjago City's downfall, Flint, rocking back and forth in a nice, expensive swivel chair right at Pixal's former desk. Her office from all those years ago still intact even after she had left the company to become a samurai. It was a shame too; Flint was in dire need of an assistant.
He created a flame in the palm of his hand. It was such a small beauty, so delicate and strong. It was much stronger than the other flames he had created. Perhaps this would be the one that would protect him. The one that would show its full might.
Flint stood up and slowly walked over to the broken windows of his office, keeping his gaze fixed upon the flame. Then, without a second thought, he threw it out with all his might, watching as it fell right on the border of the city. The fire landed and flickered for a moment, before sinking right back to the ground like the rest.
"This power is harder to master than I once thought," Flint said to himself. "It seems that no matter what I try, I can't reignite the flames."
Sighing, he sat right back down again and closed his eyes, placing his head in his hands as he sent a message to his fiery children.
Come to my office now. I have a plan.
The monsters showed up in record time, having been enhanced by the power of speed Flint had stolen the night before. Every single one of them stood in the room, facing him like soldiers to their general.
Flint couldn't help but smile as he looked to them all. His creation, his army.
"My children," he addressed. "You have all done well keeping the city safe from any unwanted 'heroes.' They are now gone, but they must see your might. Find what the fire ninja holds dear and...crush it."
The monsters appeared excited yet confused.
"Do not worry yourselves over the details. I will tell you all there is to know. The last of your brothers are just arriving with my...intel."
The elevator sounded, and the doors opened to reveal one more fire monster, just like his brothers, except this one was holding something.
"Bring it to me," Flint said, standing from his chair and coming closer to his creation. He gestured for the monster to come closer, but he seemed reluctant to give his prize away.
"I cannot give you what you desire unless I take it, child," Flint explained.
With a reluctant whimper, the fire monster threw his catch towards his maker, who used the power of gravity to gently lower it to the ground.
As he gradually walked to the body in front of him, he took in its features. A male, most likely in his late 30's. It was difficult to see any specific details through the scorch marks. The damage was great. Bruises, burns, ash, cuts, they all covered his body in a mesh of violence. His breathing was shallow and heavy. The amount of smoke he most likely inhaled was enough to knock him stone cold for at least a day. The only feature that allowed Flint to ability to know his identity was the hair. Both facial and the hair on his head. The man possessed a giant Afro and a rather peculiar mustache.
"Jacob, the master of sound," Flint chuckled. "His power will allow me to enhance your abilities so you will hear what the fire ninja has to say to his loved ones. Then you can snatch them right away. Unlike Neuro's power, which is near impossible to control, this will be quite simple for you, child."
Jacob groaned as Flint took the majority of his power away. As he finished, the master of sound whimpered and fell into an even deeper sleep than before.
"Make sure he survives," Flint instructed the monster that brought him in.
The monster nodded before picking Jacob back up and leaving in the elevator.
Flint closed his eyes a moment, trying out his new power. It was much easier to use than most others. All he had to do was listen.
"It's so weird being in the Boiling Sea after all these years," he could faintly here a young woman's voice.
"I know right," Kai's voice now. "Remember last time when we had to get the Reversal Blade to save Dad?"
"Trust me, I remember," her voice.
The older man opened his eyes to face his minions once again. By the way he was talking to the young woman, it sounded like they were siblings. Perfect.
"They are in the Boiling Sea," Flint announced. "Grab the girl."
In the Boiling Sea, Kai was starting to get frustrated.
"This is insane," the fire master complained. "We've been looking for hours, and there's still nothing!"
"It is a big sea," Nya responded, trying to keep her own cool. "Zane, do you have any idea where it might be?"
"Negative," Zane responded sadly.
"It's okay," Nya sighed. "We'll keep looking."
And they did. Two more hours passed, and the siblings had covered nearly the entire sea. Still nothing.
"Any luck?" Lloyd's voice this time.
"No," Nya responded, allowing her own frustration to finally show.
"Are you sure a current didn't come and take it away?" Kai asked.
"The last recorded current here took place nearly five hundred years ago," Zane responded.
"Then how are we not sitting in gunk right now?" Kai asked.
"The heat," Nya replied. "It kills any living thing here."
"Wow," Kai said as he looked up. The Fusion Dragon was doing a good job protecting them because he couldn't feel a thing. Still, it made him nervous.
"I wonder if everything is this hot," Kai mentioned.
"What do you mean?" Nya asked.
"Like, if someone got stuck down here could they go to the sand for safety or is that just as hot and they'd need to go to the surface?"
"The sand?" Nya asked.
"Well, I mean, I don't know," Kai began to backtrack. "They can't breathe in the sand anyway, so that's probably pretty stupid."
"No! I mean, what if the stone's in the sand?" Nya asked.
Kai's eyes went wide in realization. He held onto the reigns with a steadfast grip, waiting for Nya to do the same before he and his little sister pulled up on them tightly, making the two headed dragon crash into the sand.
The elemental shield protected both the siblings and the dragon as it began its deeper search through the earth.
They continued on, barely able to see anything. Another half hour passed, and Kai was beginning to think they should turn back. Suddenly, the dragon's water head began to glow much brighter than before. It also seemed to want to go in a different direction.
"Let her lead," Nya called over the rumbling of the dragon's wings against the sand.
Kai nodded and obeyed. He and Nya let the dragon go as it pleased. Right, down, left, down, right, up, right, down, and the further they got, the brighter the dragon glowed.
Soon, it was so bright, they couldn't even look ahead anymore for fear of going blind. But they trusted their dragon.
Finally, they stopped, and a small shimmering sound began to echo through the siblings' ears.
Slowly, the two opened their eyes. Just passed the blinding light of the dragon's head, there was a small stone. It had the same glow and intensity of the dragon's head, decorated with swirls of the ocean waves. The strong connection the dragon had to it, and its beauty told Nya that this was it.
"Are you sure?" Kai asked once she explained it to him.
"Positive," Nya replied.
She leaned over to grab the stone and suddenly, her arms began to glow, and this wasn't any old glow. It was the same way it had happened when she became one with her element. Kai saw it too and pulled her back onto the dragon's saddle, causing it to disappear as quickly as it had appeared.
"I can't get near it without turning back," Nya's breath was shaky as she looked down to her now normal hands.
Kai looked to his sister with empathy. He put a hand on her shoulder for but a moment before removing it and climbing to the top of the fire head.
"It's okay, boy," Kai soothed as he petted him. The dragon appeared very uncomfortable yet calm. He trusted his master.
The fire ninja made sure to keep a comforting hand on the dragon's snout as he reached out for the stone. Unlike with Nya, it didn't do anything to him, so he was able to grab the stone freely. The water dragon head still glowed profusely, but Kai wasn't too worried about that. Soon, he and his sister would be out of the Boiling Sea for good.
He tried to make his way back to the saddle, but as soon as he was almost able to touch it, Nya started to turn again. Even with the stone in his pouch, it was too strong for Nya's element to resist.
Immediately, Kai backed up onto the dragon's head again.
"Sorry," he apologized to both of them.
"How are we gonna get out of here?" Nya asked.
"Can you fly on your own?" Kai responded.
"And you stay up there? What if you fall?"
"I won't."
Nya took a small breath before nodding and saying, "Okay."
"I hope," Kai barely muttered as he turned his back to his sister. Meanwhile, Nya had grabbed the reigns and hit them down quickly to make the dragon move. In a flash, it soared up, up, up. Through the sand, through the water, through the flames until they were finally in the air, above the smoke and mist. In triumph, Kai took the stone out of his pouch and held it high above his head for all the world to see. Being so high up, it felt like nothing could take him down. And that's when he saw it. To his and Nya's dismay, they were under attack by Flint's fire monsters.
"Oh no!" Kai couldn't help but exclaim.
One monster heard him and looked their way.
"Oh no," he said again as the monster rushed at the dragon, jumping off the Bounty so he could gain a surprising amount of leverage, and grabbed the dragon's tail so they were pulled back into the sea.
"Oh no!" the siblings screamed in unison. They were helpless to stop it.
The dragon struggled to put its elemental shield back up as it hit the water hard. A small bit of the Boiling Sea hit Nya's arm and Kai's face, making them both shout in pain. Luckily, the dragon was still able to place the shield back up to keep the siblings safe from the rest of the water.
The monster that threw them in then jumped after them, grabbing the dragon's tail so he could throw it to the ground. Kai almost fell off, but he was able to catch himself by grabbing on to the dragon's horns.
He barely had time to pull himself up as the monster had just come up behind Nya in order to attack.
"Look out!" Kai yelled, jumping up and pulling her closer to him, but as he did, her body became intangible.
Quickly, he jumped backwards to reach the dragon's head once more, causing the dragon to fly quickly forward and avoid the monster's attack.
"How are we supposed to fight him like this?" Kai asked as he stood up, unsheathing his sword and placing the stone back in his pouch.
"We have to get back to the Bounty," Nya responded as she brought her trident up.
"Come on, boy," Kai said as he patted the dragon's head. "We got this."
Nya grabbed onto the reigns again and had the dragon fly right to the monster. As they passed by, she stabbed the monster with her trident. It roared, annoyed before trying to grab the weapon and the water ninja along with it.
Kai tapped into the dragon's fire head in just the right spot to make him mad. The dragon thrashed about and swung his whole body around, attempting to get Kai off. The fire ninja held onto the horns of the dragon, desperate to stay on. Instead of shaking Kai off, the dragon hit the monster away with his tail.
"Yes! Great job, boy!" Kai said, patting the dragon's head.
Now realizing that his master meant to do that, the dragon chirped happily, but he did not obey his master's next command, which was to leave the sea. Instead, he dove further down towards the monster, trying to shoot water at it. The monster shouted in pain as the elemental power hit him, but he was still standing and once again, he was coming for Nya.
"No, boy. Bad! Go back!" Kai exclaimed as Nya tried to steer them back on track.
The monster barely missed them and roared again, but this time in frustration. He shot a fire ball at them, which the dragon narrowly avoided. It did make him mad, though, and he immediately turned around to fight back.
Nya and Kai were rendered useless and scared as the dragon did as it pleased. Fire ball after fire ball was thrown at them by the monster. The dragon expertly dodged each and every one of these attacks before trying to scratch the monster up with his talons. The monster managed to duck before he punched the dragon's back. Kai could feel the heat radiating off of his pet's head the angrier he got. And it was furious right now.
The dragon threw its two heads back in a horribly loud roar, causing Kai to nearly fall off again. Control was fully given over to the water head as she enveloped the whole body with elemental energy. She moved as fast as a sea serpent towards the monster. As soon as she was close enough, a large blast of water was created in the dragon's mouth and shot hard at the monster.
It hit the monster straight in the chest, causing it to scream in pain, and Kai could've sworn the fire went out for a moment. If only it was more powerful, it could take all the monsters out.
As the dragon tried to scratch the monster again, Kai could feel the small stone hit against his hip. It felt like a spark lit up inside of him. He knew what to do.
The fire ninja reached into the pouch and picked up the stone again. Nya showed no sign of changing, but the water head was now glowing brighter than ever. He then noticed that there was a perfect place for the stone in the dragon's head. He was very careful not to hurt the dragon as he placed the stone in her head, and suddenly, it was like a completely different dragon. She used her newfound power to shoot an extra strong blast of water and just like that, the monster evaporated.
"Good job, girl!" he exclaimed as he patted the water head.
The dragon growled happily, but the celebration was short lived as more and more fire monsters started coming down. The water head did her best to fight each and every one of these monsters off, but it wasn't long before there were twelve in the back and twenty in the front.
Nya tried to use her power to fight against the ones in the back, but her power had not yet fully returned after Aspheera brought her back, so they were still pretty weak, and if Kai used his powers, he would only strengthen them. So he had to take the ones the dragon missed in the front with his sword.
With all his might, Kai slashed his sword in a downward motion, taking one monster's arm. As it was trying to regenerate said arm, Kai tried to take it out, but he suddenly heard a terrified scream behind him.
Without thinking, he dropped the sword into the sea and grabbed Nya's hand only to be met with an unnatural amount of resistance. When he finally managed to turn his head, he was met with an angry looking fire monster attempting to drag Nya into the Boiling Sea.
She screamed again, and Kai realized it wasn't only in terror but also in pain. The monster was burning her, badly, and Kai knew she would never survive the Boiling Sea.
The fire ninja tried to pull her back in with all his might, but the monster was too strong, and soon, he was beginning to lose his grip. With how much of a strain they were both taking on, if one let go, they'd both fly the other way. In this case, if Kai lost his grip, he'd lose his sister forever.
Tears started to flow as he became desperate. He wasn't going to lose his sister. He couldn't. He wouldn't! So he did the only thing he could think of. He let go.
Quickly, he dove for the water head, grabbed the stone, and threw it at Nya right before she hit the water.
In an instant, she became the one thing she never wanted to be again. She was the water, but she couldn't feel the heat.
"Kai!" her scream was filled with confusion, anger, and fear.
Kai only smiled. She was safe. At least he thought.
One of the nearby monsters suddenly grabbed her and attempted to take the stone. She made a tight fist to keep it protected and swam away fast, the monsters following right on her tail.
"Hang on, Nya!" Kai exclaimed as he hit the reigns.
The dragon rushed after them, shooting blasts of water all the way, trying to take out the monsters.
Meanwhile, Nya continuously swam up, down, left, right, anything to confuse the monsters. Unfortunately confusing the dragon as well. Kai did the best he could to make the dragon swim straight, but his efforts were futile. It wanted to follow Nya.
Kai was getting annoyed. With Nya in trouble, he couldn't control the dragon, and since he couldn't control the dragon, he couldn't save Nya.
"Come on!" Kai groaned as he tried to get the dragon back on track for the umpteenth time.
Instead of going back straight as Kai instructed, the dragon went left as Nya did.
"Come on!" Kai shouted again.
Now high up and then down as the water ninja did.
The fire ninja tried once more, but the dragon wasn't having it. It got so angry with its master, it fully and completely stopped.
Kai panicked. He watched as the monsters got closer and closer to his sister as she had more and more trouble staying in her form. He watched as she started becoming naive to her surroundings, losing herself, and he had no idea what he could do about it other than get the dragon to move again. Something it refused to do.
Suddenly, Kai's prayers were answered as the monster stopped too and started going back up to the surface. As thankful as he was, this strange behavior deeply worried him.
"Let's get out of here," Kai smirked, convincing himself that the monsters just gave up. "You ready, sis?"
No response. The only sound that came was that of rushing water. When Kai turned in the direction of the sound, he saw his sister zooming away, most likely scared.
Oh no, the fire ninja thought, turning pale.
"Nya!" he called out, finally gaining control of the dragon again as he rushed after her. "Nya, wait!"
The dragon took him very far, very quickly, and soon, he was right with her.
"Nya, come on. Let's go back to the Bounty," he said.
"Bounty?" that slow, trance-like voice was back. It was like she was losing herself all over again. "Up there?"
"Yeah," Kai responded, his breath becoming shaky. What have I done? "Back to Jay and Lloyd and Cole and Zane and Skylor! They're probably worried about us. We've been down here for hours."
"Jay?" Nya questioned. She was starting to come back. She just needed a little extra push.
"Yeah, Jay! Just come with me and we can go see him."
Nya came forward slightly, wanting to enter into the shield that protected Kai from the sea, but it felt so wrong. Protection from the water? It was silly. Is he sure? she asked herself as she looked into his dark, hazel eyes.
He nodded, but she was still hesitant. Seeing this, Kai did the only thing he could think of. He reached his hand out to her. Into the water. While the little power he had left provided some resistance, it still hurt like the cursed.
As soon as his hand touched the water, he winced, causing the water elemental in front of him to look up in concern. Kai managed to keep himself from making the sound again as he waited for her to move.
Slowly, cautiously, Nya reached out to touch his hand, but as she did, her hand went right through. She appeared deeply upset by this and tried again. And again. And again. Kai just waited patiently.
Finally, after what felt like hours, he could feel her hand grasp onto his. Her face lit up as if she was a child who just figured out how to whistle.
As much as Kai just wanted to pull her into the shield and end his pain, he knew he couldn't risk scaring her again. So gently and slowly, he led her into the shield and sat her down in the saddle.
The minute she was back where she should be, Kai ripped his scalding hot glove off of him and threw it into the water, revealing his extremely red hand.
"Are you alright?" Nya asked calmly.
"Yeah," Kai nodded, holding back another wince. "Yeah, I'm fine."
He grabbed the reigns with his good hand and the dragon soared up higher and higher until they were above the water. The dragon then flew slightly above the Bounty and disappeared back into the Dragon Blade.
As soon as they had landed on the boards, Jay ran past the fire ninja, eyes as wide as saucers and face as pale as a ghost.
"Nya!" he screamed, stopping right in front of her. "What happened?"
"The water stone increases her power so that she reaches her full potential. She's right back where she was before," Kai replied.
Jay looked heartbroken. He searched his yang's eyes for any hint of recognition saying, "Nya, please. Turn back. Where-where's the stone? I need the stone!"
Nya looked to her hand, keeping her calm demeanor as she did so. She slowly opened her enclosed fist to reveal the beautiful stone that was causing so much pain. Jay tried to take it, but immediately Nya made the fist again and held it close to her heart.
"Nya, please!" Jay begged.
Kai couldn't take it anymore. He pushed past Jay and tried to place his hands on her shoulders, only to go right through them.
Kai gasped slightly, trying not to think about that, but instead said, "Nya, I need you to give me the stone."
With a quick shake of her head, Nya took a step back. Kai took a step forward in response.
"I know you don't understand, but please. I need my sister back. Please, Nya!"
She just stood there, confused and maybe a little frightened. She didn't remember him, and it was useless to get her to try. But maybe, just maybe her heart for the people would bring her back.
"Nya, I need the stone. I need you. Something...horrible is destroying Ninjago and," it pained him greatly to say it. To say that he needed her to fix his mistake, "only you can stop it. If you just give me the stone."
Nya's view was obstructed by the water, but she could hear the man's voice. The desperation. And as much as she wanted nothing more than to leave back for the sea, something deep inside her said that it was imperative to stay.
The idea of parting with the stone pained her, but it seemed important to this man, and she trusted him. So with only a hint of hesitation, she opened her fist to reveal the stone once again. And this time, when Kai touched it and then took it from her hand, she did nothing but watch.
Kai watched her nervously as he stepped backwards a few times, waiting for her to turn back, and suddenly, she did.
"Nya!" Jay exclaimed as he ran to his yang and wrapped her up in a warm embrace.
"I-I-" Nya couldn't bring herself to speak.
"It's okay, it's okay," Jay repeated, rubbing circles along her back.
"Glad to see you back," Cole smiled.
Kai couldn't help but breathe a huge sigh of relief. Everyone was safe. Nya, Jay, Cole, Lloyd, Zane. And that's when it hit him.
"Where's Skylor?" he asked.
The redhead wouldn't stop kicking and screaming. Both in anger and in pain. She cried out as the flame monsters carried her all the way back to Borg Tower. Floor 32 was where the machines used to be tested when Cyrus Borg still ran the place. They would be kept in humongous white rooms, behind a transparent wall so scientists, engineers, and Cyrus Borg himself could watch how the machines did, yet keep safe in case of malfunction.
Skylor was taken past at least four of these white rooms, all containing one elemental master. Gravis was held in the closest one to the door, Turner next, then Jacob, and finally, there was Neuro. They all looked horrible, as if they had been burned very badly, and Skylor could barely keep her eyes open because of her own burns.
Skylor was thrown into the chamber directly next to Neuro's. She groaned slightly as she lifted her head to see Flint right outside the transparent wall. His face was covered by an ugly breathing mask, but something told her he was deeply enjoying this.
"You would be wrong about that, Skylor," Flint replied to her thoughts calmly. "The crimes I commit are strictly necessities. None of this is...fun," he spat out the word as if it was a disease.
Necessity? What about this is necessary? Skylor asked, but not out loud.
"To teach that foolish fire ninja a lesson in his element. He cannot understand the true power he possesses unless it is shown to him. You should be thanking me."
"I really shouldn't," she growled.
"Yes," his voice almost sounded solemn for just a moment as he said, "I know." Or maybe it was all in her head, for she didn't remember hearing it until after everything went black.
I hope you all liked that chapter! Sorry it's a bit longer than the rest, it was definitely my favorite to write XD
Have a great day/night!
