Underworld_King: So. Those pests are back again.
FullmetalQueen: I would ask how you were able to contact me directly through my DM's, but Idia had to have gotten his intelligence from somewhere
Underworld_King: Don't get cocky just because the sword accepted you, brat. Just because you're his betrothed doesn't mean I have to tolerate your sass
FullmetalQueen: He hasn't proposed yet
Underworld_King: If he wants to keep his inheritance, then he better get a move on already.
FullmetalQueen: If you're asking if I know where they are, the answer is no. If I did I'd be asking Kalim for help for a first class ticket to shove my sword up their ass.
Underworld_King: They've gotten good at hiding since we chased them out before. Though I was thinking more along the lines of a different deal. One beneficial for the both of us.
FullmetalQueen: I already have what I want. The others are at peace, and there's no point in resurrecting a fallen kingdom.
Underworld_King: Not that kind of deal. I only offer a deal like that once per person. No, the deal I'm offering is assistance against those pests.
FullmetalQueen: I'm listening
Underworld_King: By this point that Gate has no real power over you, or your brother. However no one has ever stepped up to gain full control over it, not properly at least. The 'guardian' is barely that. A guardian.
FullmetalQueen: I have no desire to return to that place.
Underworld_King: Do you want to know why you ended up in Night Raven College?
Edna paused in her conversation with Hades. No one had been able to figure out why she ended up in that coffin, especially after a hard fight with the homunculi. However she didn't regret it one bit. She was much happier in Night Raven and with Idia than she had ever been in her own time.
The thing was, she didn't want to go back to that time.
FullmetalQueen: what are you suggesting?
Underworld_King: Claim your throne, and the power that comes with it. If you do, you can travel freely between the past and the present.
FullmetalQueen: What's in it for you?
Underworld_King: Look brat, the homunculi are too hard to find in the present. However we do know where they were in the past. Besides, I'm just speeding up a process that began the day you attempted to bring your mother back.
Edna seriously considered this. Then, she tentatively sent a reply.
FullmetalQueen: What process?
Underworld_King: I'm not going to ruin that surprise. All you need to know is that once you claim your throne, I'll finally be rid of those pests and so will you. Oh, and you'll likely get your real limbs back.
Not that Edna cared about that to begin with, but it was still nice to know. Besides, Idia and his brother were supposed to act as his replacement so he could get a damn vacation without leaving the Underworld without management.
This just meant Edna could join them without any adverse side effects.
"You guys ready?" said Edna.
As a way to relax and have a bit of fun after the headaches of the game and the homunculi coming even partially out of hiding, the group had agreed to compare their Halloween costumes before the official opening of the week-long celebration.
The second Edna saw Idia in that armor (even if it was fake) she had to contend with a slight nosebleed.
Vil shared a pointed Look with Idia. Idia had a sheepish expression on his face, as he knew what the expression meant. He had choked on his drink when Edna had jokingly told him Hades was also shipping them pretty heavily.
He had almost gotten the perfect ring...the homunculi didn't really notice what he was doing in that circle so long as he stayed mostly passive. He had a lot of free time on his hands to do some ring shopping.
He would have gotten that dragon ring, what with the legends of Arthur and all...but that was a little too close to Malleus for his liking. Same for the faerie one he found.
He was on the verge of tracking down what he could only assume was a replica from a certain movie, of one of the three Elven rings of power. He would have gone with Galadriel's ring, but it didn't really suit Edna's fiery temper at all. She was not the passive type.
It was almost unfortunate they had to split up due to the fact each dorm was doing their own theme.
Edna was dressed in a highly seductive dress that was themed to match Vil's own outfit. Her hair had been brushed and Vil had used some special products to make it shine even in the low-lighting. Instead of a busty vampiress appearance, Edna's costume was more "ancient warlord forced to play nice at political parties she hated".
Idia was just glad he had gotten Edna to agree to wear an outfit of his choosing...so long as it wasn't anime related for once. After the scare she had given him, he had earned it. Idia fully planned to take her out on a proper date the first chance he had, once he got the ring he had his eyes on.
It would arrive after Halloween, and he could only hope Edna liked it.
Edna was scowling by the second night, as none of them had anticipated the arrogance of the tourists who were more interested in a quick picture to boost their limited MagiCam accounts than being good guests.
By the third night, her devious side was in full force, and she was already plotting with the others on how to scare the living shit out of the "MagiCam Monsters" into leaving the NRC. She didn't appreciate their arrogant attitudes at all.
With Idia...
"So you finally got a ring?" said Alphonse. He looked rather comfortable in his werewolf outfit.
Idia nodded shyly. He pulled it out for inspection from Al and Vil.
"A tad masculine, but it would suit her nature rather well."
"It's supposed to be a replica of Narya, the Ring of Fire from Lord of the Rings," said Idia. "Edna fell in love with that book, and her signature spell is somewhat based off it."
Al blinked.
"Wasn't that the ring Gandalf wore?"
"Galadriel's didn't suit her and neither did Elrond's," said Idia. Al grinned at him for that.
"The fact it's primary power was to inspire others in resisting tyranny, domination and despair is just a bonus, right?" laughed Al. Idia stared at him. "What? I had a lot of free time on my hands and it's a good series."
"So? When are you going to propose to her?" asked Vil.
"I was thinking after the Halloween party," admitted Idia. "Or sometime around December."
"Good," said Vil. "That gives me a proper timeline to come up with a proper wedding dress for her."
Vil was mostly invested because he wanted to see Edna happy, and Idia made her happy. Besides, he had the feeling Idia would put it off forever if someone didn't keep nudging him.
Which was why Vil made a point to give Edna and Idia some private time in a rather secluded area of the party. It had the best view of the festival outside.
Vil had to smile when he heard Edna's slight squeal of delight, and the thud of her hugging her now fiance tightly.
He was rather pleased overall, as the party ended with a major high note as Edna and Idia's friends congratulated them both.
Alphonse however did have one question.
"Who's going to be her second?"
Vil paused.
"You be her second, I'll be the one in charge of getting everything together ceremony wise," he said. The two shook on it.
Idia's hair was a vibrant pink the entire night, which Vil found amusing as hell.
A few hours later...
Edna had to sigh upon hearing Malleus' explanation for dragging them all into this mess. Fortunately for the ghosts, none of them went near her.
Or at least, most didn't.
Seeing Roy and the others was incredibly awkward, especially when Winry spotted her ring and immediately squealed.
"Ohmygosh! Who is it? When is the wedding?" said Winry.
Edna was not dealing with this solo, even if Al wasn't there to help blunt the inevitable teasing from their old friends.
She immediately dragged a nervous Idia (still in costume) to meet her old friends properly this time.
"This is Idia, my fiance."
Roy smirked at her.
"So the shrimp finally learned what sex is? It's about time."
"So how did you two meet?" asked Winry.
"My cousin introduced us properly because my leg was getting too short. This is his work," said Edna, showing off her new arm.
Winry was on Idia like white on rice in seconds upon hearing that. Rather than be alarmed, Idia relaxed a bit because she was talking his language and not interrogating him over his relationship with Edna.
Edna ended up laughing her ass off when she found out Winry had accidentally possessed Idia, only to be 'run off' by Alphonse...after he got over laughing his ass off first. The party was a lot of fun, but she could have done without the lost sleep.
Then she heard the full story, and about died herself from laughing so hard...because when Winry accidentally possessed Idia, she apparently decided to act like it was that time of the month, which was pretty damn close to how Leona acted normally.
It was even funnier considering how much Epel idolized Leona, and didn't know that was his ancestor until Winry came to say hello.
"Claim your throne. What does that mean?" said Idia. Someone had sent Edna a rather cryptic message while they were playing a game, and even he was having trouble tracing the sender.
Edna's face scrunched up as she tried to think.
"Claim my throne... wait...that sounds familiar," said Edna. Then it hit her. "Wait...Hades mentioned something claiming a throne before."
Idia made a face, as he usually did whenever the subject of Hades came up. To be fair, he wasn't really looking forward to next year when he would be stuck in the underworld for a full year...without Ortho.
He just had to be born with the bad luck of having a high enough affinity for Hades to dump his work on him personally. At least he knew Edna would be waiting for him.
"What exactly did he say?"
"Just that the 'guardian' to the Gate of Truth was barely that, and that if I ever visited it again it was possible for me to claim the 'throne' for myself."
Idia paused in his gaming to look at her. His eyes were wide.
"Wait...are you telling me that Hades straight up told you to become a goddess?"
"I guess? He said something about speeding up a process I started that night. From what I could tell, it would essentially make me a second Persephone," said Edna dismissively.
She was loyal to Idia, and the idea of living in the Underworld wasn't that horrifying so long as she could visit Al and her family occasionally.
Edna didn't complain when Idia pulled her into his lap and hugged her possessively. He did not want to contemplate the requirements to ascend from mortal to god.
He knew she would likely regain her lost limbs as well, not that Edna cared about that. She had come to terms with having fake limbs.
Though she rather firmly refused to go through the process before she graduated unless mitigating circumstances forced the matter. She had enough 'adventures' for one year, thank you very much.
