The soft sky sat out in the distance. Seemingly unaware of her internal struggle. Once again she was left high and dry. Alone. She was beginning to hate that feeling.

She was beginning to hate him for making her feel it. She hated her self even more as her vision blurred with tears. As she stared down at the picnic before her she wanted nothing more than to go home. She was about to do just that when she heard a loud yell coming from further up the beach.

She looked out at the man running towards the water. They had gotten very close as of late. Although she had came there for a date with her husband, she wasn't one to waste a trip. It wasn't her fault her husband hadn't bothered to show up. She knew what she was signing up for when they married.

This was just one of many dates forgotten about and missed. She refused to shed anymore tears about it. She stood, wiped her face, inhaled the salty air, and ran after the other man.

"Miss Song, I'm glad you decided to join me," Jack said with a genuine smile

"Well, I don't know how good of a swimmer you are. Wouldn't want you to drown," she teased

He let out his signature laugh at that

"Are you feeling better?" he asked

She startled at the question. She couldn't remember the last time someone cared enough about her wellbeing to ask such a thing. Her eyes watered a bit but she blinked it away.

"Yes. I think I am now," she breathed as she grabbed his hand

"Good," he murmured back

They gazed into each other's eyes. Almost as if they were searching for something. One moment she was staring at his face and the next she was met with ocean water. Jack had thrown her over his shoulder and was running further into the sea

"Jack," she squealed, "Put me down right now!"

"No can do," he sing-songed

She kicked at him to little affect. He just kept on walking and when he finally sat her down she understood why. From this far out you could see the sky more clearly. The sun was setting and it looked gorgeous.

Surrounded by the bluest water and the pink and orange sky she felt at peace. She swam closer to him and he grabbed her hand and kissed it. She wrapped her arms around him and he returned the gesture.

"Thank you for this," she whispered, "being here for me today,"

He softly smiled and stroked her hair.

"There's no where else I'd rather be," he whispered back

She moved to close the distance between them and he did the same. Their lips met in a soft kiss. It was almost innocent in nature and she breathed a sigh of relief. As he cradled her head against his chest and began to gently sing to her, she felt her eyes well up again.

Everything about this felt right. Everything about him felt right. He was what she wanted right now. So she allowed herself to be swayed and lulled and she allowed herself to live in this beautiful moment.
