Episode 149: Beauty is Skin Deep
Mew and her friends are circling around the lake to get to Blackthorn City. Mew is excited and is thinking of a strategy plan for the gym.
"Hmm, wonder which Pokemon I should use for this gym," Mew wonders.
"Well, Blackthorn City is a Dragon Type Gym, so Ice Types and Fairy Types would be a start," Brock says.
"That's true, and sometimes Dragon Types are weak to other Dragon Types," Mew says.
Suddenly, Pikachu and Eevee stop.
"Hey guys, you saw something.
"Pika Pika." (Look over there.) Pikachu says.
Everyone looks and cannot believe what they see.
"Look at that," Tomo says.
"A Dratini!" Brock says.
"It's so cute!" Misty says.
"Aww, it's adorable," Jen says.
Mew brings out her Pokedex and Dexter says, "Dratini, the Dragon Pokémon. A Dragon Type. Dratini sheds its skin as it grows, often doing so while hidden behind large, powerful waterfalls.
"It seems weird that such a rare Pokémon would be out here sleeping like that," Misty says.
"Maybe it's taking a nap," Mew says.
Soon, Dratini wakes up.
"I think it woke up," Tomo says.
Soon, Mew's Shiny Dratini comes out of the Pokeball.
"Hey Dratini, how are you doing?" Mew asks with glee.
Dratini lets out a call with glee. The blue Dratini notices Mew's purple one and slithers over. Then the two begin talking and chatting.
"That's cute. They're friends already," Molly says.
"That's sweet," Mew says, sitting on the ground. She then pets her Dratini.
Mew slowly approaches the other hand towards the other Dratini. Dratini sniffs her hand a bit before allowing pets, which it accepts. Mew smiles.
Suddenly, a Gyarados surfaces and fires a Hydro Pump. Mew quickly grabs the two Pokemon and moves out of the way.
"Gyarados!" The group cries out.
Mew stands up holding the two Dratini, "Hey, what's the big idea?!"
Then the Blue Dratini lets out squeaks and cries.
"So this Gyarados is a friend of yours?" Mew asks.
That catches everyone by surprise.
Dratini continues.
"And you two belong to someone named, Clair?" Mew asks.
"That's right," A voice says.
The group turns to see a young woman with long palish blue hair in a ponytail approaching them. Gyarados continues roaring.
The woman says, "Gyarados, that's enough!"
And settle down.
The woman approaches, "But to answer your questions, yes, that Gyarados and Dratini are mine."
"I see," Mew says.
Shortly after clearing the misunderstanding, the woman places Dratini in the water.
"I'm very sorry. Gyarados was just protecting Dratini and we certainly didn't mean you any harm," The woman says.
"That's okay," Mew says, and let her Dratini get in the water to play with the other Dratini.
"It's nice to meet you. My name's Clair," The woman says.
"Hi, Clair. My name's Mew," Mew says.
"Hi there, I'm Misty," Misty says.
"I'm Jen," Jen says.
"I'm Tomo," Tomo says.
"And I'm Molly," Molly adds.
"My name's Brock! You can call me Brock!" Brock says and approaches Dratini, "But to be totally honest, Clair, since everyone else calls me Brock, you can just call me your boyfriend. To think, someone with the beauty of a Sunflora has the passion of a Magmar!"
Soon, Clair's Dratini swims away. Mew's Dratini begins to do the same.
"Dratini!" Clair says and follows her Dratini.
Brock falls flat on his face.
"Dratini! Where are you going?!" Mew calls out and follows.
"Gyarados, Dratini's begun its migration! We've gotta follow!" Clair says.
Gyarados agrees and follows both Clair, Mew and Dratini.
Brock gets up and cries out, "But, my sweet! Please wait up for me!
Suddenly, someone calls out, "You mustn't go!"
Everyone looks back and sees an old man running up.
The old man calls out, "The day is much too important today! If you leave now, I'm afraid we're going to have serious problems!"
The old man soon trips and falls flat on his face, prompting the group to check on him.
"Hey, mister!" Tomo says.
"Did you hurt yourself, sir?" Misty asks.
"Let me put it this way," The old man says, and throws up a peace sign, "I'm still in one piece! Get it? Peace sign? Piece? Peace sign?" and laughs.
Everyone however is dumbfounded.
Then the old man realizes, "Oh, no. Where did it go? My treasure. Have I lost it? I lost it." He unties his sack, "Maybe I didn't bring it with me." then opens a box that reveals a fang; sighs in relief, "There you are, you little rascal."
"Excuse me, what is that?" Molly asks.
"It's a dragon fang," The old man says.
"That's pretty cool," Tomo says.
"This is the family treasure that's been kept in the Blackthorn gym forever. Part of my job is caring for it. I work for Clair at the Blackthorn City gym," The old man says.
"Does that mean?" Jen asks.
"Is Clair the Blackthorn gym leader?" Brock asks.
The old man nods, And preserving Blackthorn City's history is just one of our many duties. By the way, I'm Kaburagi."
"That is so cool!" Tomo says.
"And it's nice to meet you, Kaburagi," Jen adds.
Further downstream, Clair, Mew and Gyarados follow Dratini.
Mew says, "Oh, so you're the Blackthorn City Gym Leader."
"That's right, and as you can see, my gym specializes in Dragon Types, like Dratini," Clair says.
"And I'm guessing that Gyarados knows Dragon Type attacks," Mew suspects.
"That's right," Clair says.
At the same time as the girls chat. The two Dratini swim together and continue on.
At the back of the line…
Kaburagi explains, "Legend has it that, long ago, a fierce dragon Pokemon terrorized the residents of this area. Our city's first gym leader defeated that dragon and took one of its fangs as a keepsake."
"Oh, wow! So that dragon thing must be…" Misty says.
"The actual fang from that dragon Pokémon," Brock says.
"Yep," Kaburagi says, "That's what the legend says. This dragon fang has been handed down from generation to generation. I was running to remind Clair that today is the day we perform the purification ritual."
"That sounds important," Tomo says.
"It is, by far, one of the most important duties any gym leader can have," Kaburagi says.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket is relaxing near a small stream.
Jessie sighs, "What a great way to chill out."
"Team Rocket has found our place in da sun!" Meowth says
"Speaking of chilling, these fabulous sunglasses have made me, oh, so cool," James says.
As Jessie and Meowth agree, the two different colored Dratini pass by.
"Is that a, Dratini?" James asks, shocked.
"And they're two of them," Meowth says.
Jessie hops off her seat to get a better look "They're teeny-weeny!"
The blue Dratini stops and looks at them. Mew's Dratini does the same, but knows that they're trouble.
All my life, I've dreamed of catching a Dratini! Dreams can come true!" Jessie happily says, "James, catch it before my bubble bursts!
James then throws his Pokeball, "I'm all over it! Weezing, go!"
And Weezing comes out.
Jessie calls out, "Set sail for those Dratini!"
Weezing does so, but it and Team Rocket quickly get drenched.
"So much for the bubble," Jessie says.
"Hey! Team Rocket!" Mew's voice shouts.
The three look and see both Clair and Gyarados.
"If you harm so much as one scale on Dratini's head…" Clair angrily says.
"What would you do?" Jessie questions.
"It's the twerpette!" Meowth says.
Then James questions Clair, "And who are you?"
"I'm the Blackthorn gym leader!" Clair announces.
"Gym leader?" James and Meowth ask in surprise.
But Jessie, "I don't care if you're the gym teacher, those Dratini are mine, sisters!" Then throws her Pokeball, "Go, Arbok!"
Arbok comes out.
Jessie calls out, "Go, Poison Sting attack!"
Arbok fires.
Then Clair says, "Gyarados, use Hydro Pump, now!"
Gyarados fires the attack and completely overpowers the stingers before sending Team Rocket blasting off.
"Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!" Team Rocket cries out.
"Nice shot, Clair," Mew says.
"Thanks," Clair says.
Then Clair approaches her Dratini and asks, "Are you okay, my cute little Dratini?"
Mew then approaches hers, "Are you alright, sweetie."
Both Dratini confirm. Then they both doze off.
"You're both gonna be just fine," Clair says.
Just then, Kaburagi and the others show up.
Kaburagi calls out, "Miss Clair! I'm so glad that we found you!"
"Mew! Stay there!" Tomo calls out.
A bit later…
Kaburagi tries to reason with Clair, "You have to come back with us right away. Have you forgotten that today's the day of the purification ritual? You must purify the dragon fang in the lake water for the sake of all dragon Pokemon. This day comes only once every three years!
"Yes, I know that," Clair says, "But I can't go and leave Dratini alone right now! At this moment, Dratini's preparing to shed its skin. Dratini's completely vulnerable, and needs someone to provide protection."
"I get it. So that's what's going on here," Brock says.
Both Dratini soon awakens.
"Look. Dratini woke up," Misty says.
Then the blue Dratini swims off while the purple one joins.
"And they're off again," Mew says.
"We gotta follow it, Gyarados!" Clari says, and hurries off.
": But, Miss Clari! The ritual!" Kaburagi calls out and rushes odd.
Mew calls out, "Come on guys, we gotta follow them.
Everyone agrees. Further down river, Gyarados' path is blocked while both Dratini keep going.
"Looks like you can't go much further. Alright, Gyarados, return!" Clair says and calls back her Pokemon.
Kaburagi follows and calls out, "Miss Clair! You know that this ritual has to be performed sometime today! Please come back!
Kaburagi nearly falls over, but the group catches him.
"How clumsy. Thank you. You're so kind, really," Kaburagi laughs but soon sighs in exhaustion.
"I guess we'll just have to wait for Dratini to shed its skin, huh?" Misty replies.
"It seems there's no other choice," Kaburagi says.
"Yeah. I wonder why Mew's Dratini is following Clair's?" Jen questions.
"Well, it could be because Dratini is meeting another Dratini in a while, and what's to hang out with," Brock says.
Meanwhile, from afar, Team Rocket watches on.
Jessie chuckles, "There's are the cute little Dratini. I won't rest until I'm snuggled up with those darling baby dragon types."
"Take a number. Seems the goody-good patrol have the same idea," James says.
"It may be deir job as heroes, but dey're always messin' up our plans!" Meowth says.
Then Jessie says, "There isn't a brat in the world, that's going to come between me and my Dratinis. Am I clear?"
"I'm sure that rarity would raise a pretty penny on the black market," James says.
"Or we could just give it to da boss, and den he'll call us even!" Meowth says.
But Jessie refuses, "No way! Nobody's gonna get those Dratini except me!"
Then Wobbufett says, "WOBBUFFET!" (Since that gym leader is Dratini's owner, we need a good plan.)
"What?" James questions.
"Huh? You don't say," Meowth replies.
Then James asks, "Meowth, please translate Wobbuffet's wobblings."
"Since dat gym leader is Dratini's owner, we need a good plan," Meowth says.
And begins to think.
Down below, Mew and her friends have come to a stop and have lunch.
"Here. I brought lunch. I knew we'd be following Dratini for a long time, so I made a lot of these rice balls," Clari says.
"They sure look delicious," Misty says.
Everyone who wants one takes one.
"Thanks a lot. These are really good!" Mew says.
"It's a delightful contrast of textures, colors and flavors as one would expect, coming from you," Brock says.
Then Clair turns to Kaburagi, "Please, have one."
"Alright, then," Kaburagi says, "If I have to follow you around, I'll need my strength." He then takes and eats one.
"Excuse me, Clair? Once Dratini has shed its skin, would you face me in a gym battle?" Mew asks.
"A gym battle?" Clair questions.
"Yes," Mew says, "I need one more badge from the Blackthorn gym and then I can participate in the Johto League!" and shows off her badge.
"Wow, I'm impressed. Of course, I'd be happy to battle you," Clair says.
"That's really great, thank you," Mew says.
"I see that you have a Glacier badge, so you must've been to the Mahogany gym, am I correct?" Kaburagi says.
"Yeah," Mew says.
"There was a crazy rumor going around a while back about a red Gyarados causing all sorts of trouble in Mahogany Town," Kaburagi says.
"That's a true story, but things are all right now," Brock says.
"Lance, one of the Elite Four from Kanto was there, and he saved everybody," Misty says.
"Really? You saw Lance?" Clair asks.
"That's right," Mew says.
"Mew even caught the Red Gyarados," Misty says.
"Really?" Clair asks.
Soon, Mew and the others explain what happened at the Lake of Rage, and now it happened.
"So that's what happened," Clair says.
"Say, I didn't know Lance was a Pokemon G-Man," Kaburagi says.
Everyone becomes puzzled.
"Don't tell me that you know Lance, too," Misty says.
"Why, yes, dear. Of course," Kaburagi says.
"Lance did some training at the Blackthorn gym for quite a long time. In fact, Lance is actually my cousin," Clair says.
This catches the group by surprise.
"Your cousin?!" The group reacted shocked.
"That's right. In fact, the gym is the headquarters for all up and coming dragon Pokemon trainers," Kaburagi says.
"I didn't know that!" Tomo says.
"That's right! Lance is a dragon type Pokemon trainer, isn't he?" Brock says.
Then Clair says, "I trained Lance for many months at the Blackthorn gym. Or maybe I should be saying that he was training me. And over time we kept in touch. In fact, he mentioned a young girl who can actually speak to Pokemon. Once I see you being able to talk to my and your Dratini, I figure you were the one he talked about. And so, now, I'm looking very forward to battling an acquaintance of my cousin."
"I am, too, Clair. Thank you," Mew says.
Then Kaburagi says, "You know Mew, you actually remind me of someone."
"Really?" Mew asks.
"Yes. And that young man can understand and communicate with Pokemon. He was a young Dragon Pokemon Trainer from the Unova Region, I believe his name was Ichigo," Kaburagi says.
This shocked to hear it.
"Really? You know my dad?" Mew asks.
"Your dad?" Clair questions.
Mew and her friends explain to Clair and Kaburagi about Mew's parents and how Mew ends to be raised by Pokemon and what happened to her parents.
"I see, that's an interesting story," Clair says.
"Indeed. I didn't expect you being Ichigo's daughter, and he and his wife disappeared," Kaburagi says.
"Yes. I don't know where they are, or even if they're alive," Mew says.
"I'm sure you'll find out what happened eventually," Clair says.
Suddenly…
"What have we here?"A voice calls out.
Everyone looks over and sees an elderly couple walking towards Dratini.
The old woman says, "Look at those darling Dratini."
"Well, I'll be darned, you're right. And quite a rarity, too," The old man says.
"It's really fortunate to see such a sight as this. Oh, thank you. Oh, thank you. Oh, thank you," The old woman says.
Then the old man whispers, "Okay. Let's move this along, Jess."
Turns out, those two are Jessie and James in disguise.
Jessie turns to James, "What do you say, pa? How about a picture?"
"Well, ma, that's not half a bad a idea." James says.
James prepares a camera while Jessie gets in place.
"Now say 'Little whippersnapper'! "James says and takes the picture.
"Oh, no. I'm sure my smile looked very unnatural. And it showed that wrinkle I have right here," Jessie says.
"Whatever you say, ma!" James says, and takes another photo.
Jessie says, "Darn, I blinked at the wrong time."
"How's this? James asks as he leans down and left and takes a photo.
"That wrinkle again," Jessie says.
"Yes, dear," James says and turns the camera sideways and takes another.
"Bad pose," Jessie says.
"Okay," James says.
As James takes the picture, both Dratini wake up. Clair and Mew approach.
"One more. One more," Jessie says.
Clari calls out, "Excuse me, you two lovebirds."
"Yes?" The pair questions.
"I'm sorry, but could you just be a teensy bit more quiet, please? My Dratini is going through a very difficult time and needs to have some rest," Clair says.
"Landagoshin! We're sorry," Jessie says.
"We certainly didn't intend to be a botherin' anyone," James says.
"No problem. I understand," Clair says.
Jessie turns to James, "Now, pa, we need to be as quiet as little church mice."
"If we keep very still, would you mind if we had a close looksee?" James asks.
"Of course, please do," Clair says.
The two approach
"Well, I declare. what a couple of little puddin'," James says.
"Makes you want to reach out and grab it," James says.
"It sure does," Jessie says.
Just then, Jessie launches a net out of her 'cane', capturing both Dratini.
"Dratini!" Mew cries out.
"Alright, what's the meaning of this?!" Clair demands.
Jessie:
Prepare for trouble, we're not crotchety and old!
James:
And make it double because we're youthful and bold!
Jessie:
To protect the world from devastation!
James:
To unite all peoples within our nation!
Jessie:
To denounce the evils of truth and love!
James:
To extend our reach to the stars above!
Jessie:
Voila!
(removes her disguise)
Jessie!
James: (removes her disguise)
James!
Jessie:
Team Rocket blasts off at the stunning speed of light!
James:
Surrender now, or prepare to fight, fight, fight!
Soon, reveals that Meowth and Wobbuffet are in the hot air balloon.
Meowth:
Meowth, in flight!
Wobbuffet:
Wobbuffet
(That is right!)
"Team Rocket!" the group cries out.
Meowth gets out a smoke bomb, "Hey! Smoke gets in your eyes!" And throws it.
The smoke bomb explodes, causing smoke to be let out, blinding everyone.
"Both Dratini are gonna be hanging around with us, now!" Jessie says.
"Hey! Come back!" Clair shouts.
"Give them back!" Mew shouts.
"Bye-bye, now!" Team Rocket says.
"They're getting away!" Tomo shouts.
"What should we do now, Miss Clair?" Kaburagi asks.
"We're gonna get it back! I'll never let Dratini down!" Clair says.
Soon, Mew and the others chase Team Rocket into the forest.
"See where it went?" Mew asks.
"I thought I saw them flying this way!" Brock says.
"Well, there's no sign of them now," Misty says.
Clair climbs onto a tree branch to get a better view.
"Beautiful, and well coordinated!" Brock says.
Clair soon spots the balloon and leaps from tree to tree.
"I'll go follow," Mew says.
Mew then does the same with Pikachu and Eevee on her shoulders.
"Look at them go," Jen says.
"We've got to try and keep up with them!" Kaburagi says.
"So, let's go!" Brock says.
"Right!" Everyone agrees.
Meanwhile…
Team Rocket laughs in triumph.
"Dat old codger routine really woiked!" Meowth says.
"And did you happen to notice how perfectly I performed my role? I should be up for an academy award," James says
"Yes, but, as supporting actor since I was the star. And the Oscar for best actress in a starring role goes to…" Jessie says.
Wobbuffet cheers, "Wobuu!" (Jessie!)
"Thank you! My adoring fans. And I can't forget you, my little Dratini, to whom I owe all of my hard work and dedication!" Jessie says.
Mew's Dratini turns to Clair's Dratini letting out cries. Clair's Dratini nods in reply. With that, both Dratini begin rocking together, rocking the balloon.
"And you're a star, too, but that doesn't mean you have to put on a show!" Jessie cries out.
Both Dratini start rocking the balloon more.
"If you don't cool it, than the show's over for all of us!" Jessie cries out.
As the balloon rocks and sways, down in the trees, Clair and Mew soon arrive at another tree branch.
Mew notices, "Clair look!"
They soon see Team Rocket's balloon coming down.
"Dratini! We're coming!" Clair calls out.
Both Clair and Mew rush towards the balloon as the others follow on the ground.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket is revealed to have crashed.
"Get your fur out of my face, Meowth!" James cries out.
"As soon as Wobbuffet gets off of me, tank you!" Meowth says.
Soon, both Mew and Clair's Dratini begin crawling towards the river, hoping to escape.
Jessie lifts the balloon up to see them, "Wait! Come back!" then grabs both nets, "This is no time for a swim! Come on, let's go play together!"
"Stop!" Clair shouts, and lands near Jessie, "That's enough!"
Then Mew lands as well, "Those Dratinis aren't yours!"
"That's where you're wrong," Jessie says.
"Finders, keepers. Losers, twoips!" Meowth says.
And Wobbuffet says, "WOBBUFFET!" (And weepers!)
James calls out, "Go, Weezing!"
And Weezing comes out of the Pokeball.
Clair throws her Pokeball, "Gyarados, go!"
And Gyarados comes out from the river.
James calls out, "Now, Weezing, Sludge attack, go!"
Weezing fires the attack.
Clair calls out, "Gyarados, Hydro Pump!"
Gyarados fires the attack and overpowers the Sludge bombs before Gyarados uses its tail to KO Weezing and send it flying onto James.
"Wow! That's strong!" Mew says.
"So, dat's what you can expect from a gym leader," Meowth says.
"Wooobu." (Not bad.) Wobbuffet replies.
"This isn't really the time to be impressed!" Jessie says.
Mew calls out, "Alright, Pikachu, give em a Thunderbolt, now!"
Pikachu fires the attack.
Jessie calls out, "Wobbuffet, Counterattack, go!"
Wobbuffet easily reflects the attack, but while it shocks Pikachu. It also hits Eevee, and all of Team Rocket and nearly hits both Dratini.
"Dratini!" Mew cries out.
"Oh, no you don't!" Clair calls out.
Mew and Clair both jump in to protect their Pokemon, shocking everyone.
"Miss Clair, no!" Kaburagi cries out.
"Mew!" Tomo cries out.
"It's alright. I'll protect you, Dratini," Clair says.
"Don't worry, everything will be okay!" Mew says.
Just then, Clair and Mew notice something.
"What is it, Dratini?" Clair asks.
"Dratini?" Mew wonders.
Both Dratini look at Mew and Clair and have the look in their eyes. Soon, both Mew and Clair's Dratini begin to glow.
James notices, "Well, look at that."
"Dratini's aglow!" James says.
"Clair's Dratini must be shedding!" Jen says.
"No, Jen! Both Clair and Mew's Dratini are evolving!" Brock says.
"Evolving?" Misty says.
"Wow!" Molly says.
"Oh my!" Clair says, surprised
"Wow! Mew says, astonished.
Both Dratini grow larger and longer. And before long, both Dratini have evolved into their new evolved forms. Dragonair.
"You've evolved into a gorgeous Dragonair!" Clair says.
"That's awesome, Dragonair!" Mew happily says.
Suddenly, Jessie cries out, "Oh no!"
"Oh, yeah!" Mew says, and gets out her Pokedex.
Dexter says, " Dragonair, the Dragon Pokemon. A Dragon Type. Dragonair has the ability to manipulate the elements as it wishes."
With one call, Dragonair causes dark clouds to gather before a lightning bolt strikes Team Rocket
"Behold, Dragonair's true power!" Kaburagi says.
"All that time, Dratini was storing energy so it could evolve," Clair says.
Jessie cries out, This stinks! Why is everyone so giddy about them evolving?! They were much cuter, more loveable the other way!"
"You can't stop progress, Jess. And besides, it's now rarer than before," James says.
"Da bigger dey are, da more dough dose dragons bring in!" Meowth says.
"Fine! Let's catch and sell that pencil neck and I'll forget I ever wanted a cute pet!" Jessie says.
"You bet!" James says and calls out, "Okay, Weezing, Sludge attack!"
Weezing fires the attack.
Clair calls out, "Gyarados, Hyper Beam!"
Gyarados fires the Hyper Beam and overpowers the Sludge while the Psyshock sends Weezing crashing into Team Rocket.
"Dragonair, let's blow them away with Twister!" Clair calls out.
"Dragonair, let's help give them a double Twister!" Mew calls out.
Soon, both Dragonair combine their power to create one powerful tornado that sucks up and blows Team Rocket away
"Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!" Team Rocket cries out
"(Twist of fate!) Wobbuffet cries out.
"You couldn't have evolved at a better time if I had planned it!" Clair says.
"Looks like Team Rocket booked a nonstop flight on Dragon Air!" Kaburagi says and laughs.
"Oh, boy," Everyone replies, dumbfounded.
Soon, Dragonair soon swims away.
"Where are you going now?!" Clair calls out and follows.
" Wait for me!" Kaburagi says and follows her.
"We better follow them," Mew says.
"Yeah," Everyone agrees.
Everyone follows Dragonair long into the night and arrives at a lake and waterfall.
"I've never been here before," Clair says.
"I think, they call this the Riverhead Falls," Kaburagi says.
"Beautiful," Misty says.
"The water from these falls down and straight into the mouth of Blackthorn Lake," Kaburagi says.
"Dragonair must've brought us here on purpose," Clair says.
"For what, Clair?" Mew asks.
"This is the perfect place for the ritual!" Clair says.
"And we have just enough time before midnight to do it!," Kaburagi says. He opens his sack and hands Clair the box holding the dragon fang, "It is time, Miss Clair"
Clair nods, "Then let's begin."
Soon, the ritual is underway as Kaburagi is seen down on one knee while Clair presents the dragon fang and places it on a blanket on a rock, like an offering.
Clair says, "We ask the universe to bring peace and happiness to all dragons, be they dragons of the sky, dragons of the earth, or dragons of the water."
Clair takes a handful of water and pours it onto the fang, causing it to glow and emit energy, amazing our heroes as the energy from the fangs takes the form of a dragon and soars upward.
"What's that?!" Tomo asks.
"A light dragon!" Brock says.
"Really? Wow!" Misty says.
"Amazing!" Jen says.
"So cool!" Tomo says.
"Wow!" Molly replies.
The light dragon soars towards the moon and dissipates into sparkles as everyone watches on.
"It went right up into space!" Misty says.
"It looks like it just stopped in mid-air and then turned into a star!" Brock says.
The sparkles soon fade as the ritual ends.
"Yes, once a dragon Pokemon becomes a star, it watches over all dragon Pokemon. At least, that's what the popular legend tells us happens," Kaburagi says.
Clair approaches Mew and her friends, "My friends, the ritual has been completed. And now, as the Blackthorn gym leader, it is my duty to protect my honor. So, Ash, I'm pleased to face you in battle."
"Great. I'm ready when you are, Clair," Mew says.

The next day, everyone heads toward Blackthorn City.
"Well, the big day is finally here, Mew," Misty says, "Are you, nervous at all?"
"A little, but I'm also ready for this match," Mew says.
Soon, Brock notices, "Hey, look! It's the entrance to Blackthorn City!"
"Hope Clair's ready for a good match. Cause I am!" Mew says.
Mew and her friends finally approach the towering entrance of Blackthorn City. Mew is more determined to do well with her match against Clair and earn her last badge bore competing in the Johto League.
