Episode 151: Great Bowls of Fire!
With a fierce determination, Mew finally begins her own long anticipated Blackthorn gym battle for her eighth and final badge with Clair, the gym leader. Meanwhile, Team Rocket was in the process of stealing the legendary dragon fang, which was passed down for generations in the Blackthorn gym. Their battle is postponed, and Mew and the others join forces with Clair to recapture the treasure. As they searched for their foes, Team Rocket entered the Dragon Holy Land and tricked the Dragonite there into aiding them in their evil plot! What's worse, Molly ends up getting abducted by the very Dragonite along with Team Rocket! As Mew and her friends watched them escape, a strange figure approached us from the sky. Were they to encounter friend, or foe?
As the Pokemon comes closer, Mew instantly recognizes it.
"Charizard!" Mew cries out with a smile.
"Eevee!" (It is Charizard!) Eevee says.
"Pikachu!" (Charizard!) Pikachu happily says.
"You're right, Mew!" Misty says.
Soon, Chariard comes down and practically tackles Mew to the ground.
"Yep. That's Ash's Charizard," Brock says.
Charizard then begins licking Mew's face.
Mew laughs, "It's great to see you too, Charizard. You haven't changed a bit!"
Then Charizard begins licking Pikachu and Eevee.
"Wow. We haven't seen Charizard in a while!" Misty says.
"I wonder why Charizard's here," Misty says.
"Wasn't Charizard living in the Charicific Valley?" Brock asks.
Kaburagi asks Clair, "Uh, Miss Clair? Are you anywhere near as confused as I am?"
Soon, another roar is heard. They all look and see Liza riding in on Charla's back.
"Hey, isn't that...?" Jen asks.
Liza happily greets everyone, "Hi, guys! How's everyone doing?!"
"Liza!" Mew and Clair happily call out.
Both look at each other puzzled.
"You know her, too?" Clair asks.
Charla soon lands.
"Long time, no see!" Liza says, and gives a hi-fives Clair as she talks.
"You look great, Liza," Clair says.
"It's wonderful to see you again," Kaburagi says.
"Same here, the feeling is mutual," Liza says, "I didn't realize I'd be seeing Mew down here. No wonder Charizard couldn't wait to land."
It's nice to…" Mew says.
Brock interrupts, "Hi there. It's been a long time. Since we last parted, I've been filled with sadness and longing and, you know, just…"
Misty comes in and covers his mouth, "But mostly, he's been filled with baloney." chuckles sheepishly, "Sorry." and pulls Brock away.
Clair turns to Mew's Charizard, "So are you saying that this Charizard actually used to be Mew's Pokémon?"
"Mmm-hmm," Liza says, "But Charizard and I have been training for a while now."
Confused, Mew asks, "Clair, I don't get it. How did you get to know my Charizard?"
"Liza and I have known each other since we were little girls, and she brings the Charizard here from Charicific Valley every once in a while, so that they can train," Clair says.
"It's always so great when we get together. And Charizard loves it," Liza happily says.
And Clair says, "Though Charizard seems to be most interested in being Charla's bodyguard."
"Bodyguard?" Jen questions."
Charla is seen nuzzling closely to Charizard.
"Wow. Look at those two lovebirds," Misty says.
"Can it be I'm the only one who hasn't found love?" Brock questions.
Then Liza turns to Mew, "So tell me, Mew, have you gotten around to challenging Clair to a gym battle yet? Who ended up winning the match?"
"No one," Mew answers, "We had to stop in the middle when all the trouble started."
"What kind of trouble?" Liza says.
"Big trouble.
Meanwhile, Dragonite is seen soaring along with Team Rocket in hand.
"Release me at once, you big lizard!" Jessie cries out.
"You don't want me to get airsick!" James cries out.
Molly cries out, "Please put me down! I want to go back down!"
Then Dragonite says, "Beruuu, ruuuu, uuuuu! (Well, hold on to your lunch, cause we're going somewhere super nice!)
"Dragonite says hold on to your lunch cause we're goin somewhere super nice!" Meowth cries out.
"Perhaps a vacation," James says.
"You know, we have earned it," Jessie says.
"Couldn't we fly first class?!" Team Rocket cries out.
Meanwhile, Mew and the others have explained to Liza what happened.
Liza is shocked, "What?! Team Rocket stole the dragon fang?!"
"And not only that, those crooks managed to get Dragonite in on it as well. And even took one of Mew's friend, Molly," Clair says.
"Oh dear," Liza says worried, "Why on earth would Dragonite run away with those criminals?"
"I don't know, but will you help us out?" Clair asks.
"You know I will!" Liza says.
Mew turns to Charizard, "Hey, Charizard. You'll help us out, too, won't you?"
Charizard agrees, and everyone is soon airborne.
"Awesome," Mew says.
"What a view!" Misty says.
"I can see for miles!" Brock says.
"Every flower in this wonderful place stays in bloom all year round. Season after season, the Holy Land's beauty never fades, and many believe it to be because of some mysterious power from the dragon Pokemon," Clair says.
"Some people have labeled the Dragonite as a Pokémon of destruction, but looking around at all of this miraculous beauty, I see it as a Pokemon of protection. All of the Pokemon who live here are extremely kindhearted, including the Dragonite," Kaburagi says.
"Well, then, why did Dragonite attack us?" Misty asks.
"Maybe Team Rocket threatened to destroy the dragon fang if Dragonite didn't," Brock says.
"Yeah! Then Dragonite wouldn't have any choice!" Tomo says.
But Clair says, "No way. Dragonite is much too intelligent to have gotten deceived in such a way by those three. Dragonite is very proud of its strengths and abilities and isn't afraid to stand up to those who oppose it."
"Remember, Clair and I told you that Dragonite had, long ago, belonged to the Blackthorn gym's very first gym leader," Kaburagi says, "That leader loved the Dragon Holy Land more than anything, and dedicated his whole life to preserving and protecting it. Dragonite was inspired by its trainer's strength and dedication, and decided to stay here and help with the leader's work. Even after its beloved trainer passed on, Dragonite has carried on the will of that gym leader, and continues to protect the Holy Land to this day. Perhaps now you can understand why I don't believe Dragonite would just run off with those hooligans."
"Yeah, I understand," Mew says.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket is seen to have been set down on the ground.
"Well, that wasn't the most comfortable flight," Jessie says.
"You mean we've landed?" James replies.
"Either dose trees are spinning or I am," Meowth says.
"WOBBUFFET!" (No, you're not!) Wobbuffet says.
Molly sits up and feels sick, "I'm feeling sick too." and lies back down.
"That does it. Give me a barf bag," Jessie says.
"What happened to Dragonite?" James asks.
They all look around and see it flying in with a load of fruit for them to eat.
Team Rocket asks surprised, "It's all for us?!"
Team Rocket quickly starts chowing down.
"Paradise!" Jessie happily says.
"A fruity nirvana!" James says.
"If I'm dreaming, don't wake me up!" Meowth says.
"Wobbu." (You're not.) Wobbuffet says.
Dragonite then says, "Ruuuuu. Beruuuu. (Eat your fill and relax. We've come this far and we're safe here.)
"Dragonite says we should eat our fill den relax cause we've come dis far and we're safe here," Meowth says.
"You are, without a doubt…" Jessie says.
"A prince among Pokémon!" James says.
"Da woild is a bettah place because you're flying around in it!" Meowth says
"WOBBUFFET!" (Thanks so much!) Wobbuffet says.
Dragonite then presents a fruit to Molly.
Molly takes it and says, "Um, thank you." and begins to slowly eat the fruit.
"Hold on, where are we?" Jessie asks.
They look and soon find they're at a shrine, the Dragon Shrine.
"Lakefront property?" James asks.
"Looks to me more like a vault, and a vault is where you store your valuables," Meowth says.
Jessie quietly says, "Well, then, you know what that means."
James quietly says, "Their valuables…"
"Become our valuables," Meowth says.
Meanwhile, Mew and the others keep searching overhead.
Misty soon spots something, "Look! What's that shiny thing over there?"
"Oh, it's a reflection. The light of the sun shining off the lake," Clair says.
Kaburagi then asks in concern, "Uh, Miss Clair? You don't think that Dragonite would go to the Dragon Shrine, do you? If Team Rocket ever found out about that shrine and, what's inside, I can't bare to think of the consequences!"
"Excuse me, but, what's a Dragon Shrine?" Tomo asks.
Kaburagi explains "Centuries ago, when People considered Pokemon to be our enemies, the shrine was built as a symbol of the hope that, some day, Pokemon and humans would be able to live together peacefully. Then, as their hope for mutual peace finally became reality, as a token of their gratitude, the people constructed what we now know as the prayer flame, and directed that it be permanently housed in the Dragon Shrine. Those events occurred over 500 years ago, but miraculously, the prayer flame continues to burn brightly to this day.
Meanwhile, Team Rocket sneaks into the shrine and finds the prayer flame. At the same time, Molly notices Team Rocket heading to the shrine and follows them.
"Look at dat bowl! It's solid gold!" Meowth says.
"I'd say it's worth at least a cool billion," James says.
"So put out that fire and let's go!" Jessie says.
But James says, "Wait a minute! With treasures such as this, it's probably meant to remain flaming. So I say we take it as is."
"Won't we get boined?" Meowth asks.
"Probably, but it will be more valuable that way! We'll sell it for more!" James says.
"Be careful, James," Jessie and Meowth alert.
"Don't worry, I'll be fine!" James says as he puts on shades and gloves, "Besides, you know I like my bowls, flaming."
"We can't argue with that," Jessie says.
"I feel kinda bad doing dis after Dragonite helped us out," Meowth says
Jessie chuckles, "Don't worry, it'll pass."
"Don't do it!" Molly cries out.
The three turn to see Molly.
"Oh great, the little twerpetee," Jessie says.
Then she quickly grabs Molly by her dress, "Sorry, but we got work to do."
"You can't steal that!" Molly cries out.
James reaches for the bowl, "Steady. Steady. Now!" He then grabs the bowl, "Bingo! Didn't spill a drop!"
The flame soon engulfs his hands, causing him to panic and throw the bowl away, which causes the flowers in the nearby field to catch fire, sending all the nearby Pokemon into a panic.
"What was that move, butterfingers?!" Jessie shouts.
"If it got scratched, it'd lose its value!" Meowth says.
"Sorry, but that thing was scorching hot, okay?!" James cries out.
Team Rocket soon hears and sees the fire they ultimately caused.
Team Rocket and Molly cry out, "Fire!"
Molly struggles, "We need to put it out."
They soon hear an angry growl.
"Did, you hear that?" Jessie asks, meekly.
James also grows worried, "That massive growl?"
Same with Meowth, "Don't growls usually come attached to monsters?"
"WOBBUFFET!" (Not always!) Wobbuffet says.
Molly says, "I think you three are in big trouble."
Dragonite soon comes up behind them, blowing them away with a single roar while they land in the fire and set their biscuits to burn. Molly ends up being flown out of their grasp and lands in the flower field. Just then, Dragonite charges a Hyper Beam towards Team Rocket.
"Looks like we're getting Hyper Beamed!" Meowth cries out.
The attack blows them back further.
"I think you should know it was all James' idea! So please feel free to direct your beam his way!" Jessie panics.
"Wobbuuuuuuffet!" (Someooooooone help!) Wobbuffet says.
Dragonite powers up another Hyper Beam.
James cries out in tears, "Hold on! I'm too young to fry!"
Dragonite fires the attack and blows them away again. Molly also gets blown away and lands in the forest outside of the flower field. After Dragonite lets out an angry roar, Mew and the others hear the roar and see the smoke from the fire.
"Hey! Look at that smoke!" Mew says.
"Where there's smoke, there's fire," Clair says.
"No! It can't be!" Kaburagi cries out, "There are thousands of Pokemon living in there! We've got to do something to help them and fast!
"Charizard, go faster!" Mew calls out.
Charizard agrees.
"K, Charla, let's speed it up, too!" Liza calls out.
Charla agrees while all the Pokémon of the forest run for their lives as Dragonite chases Team Rocket down.
James cries out, "There's no need to be so angry!"
Dragonite responds with another angry Hyper Beam while the fire spreads.
"I'm innocent, I tell you!" Jessie cries out, "I'm innocent! Nothing more than a pawn of James' evil game of selfishness and trickery!"
Dragonite soon lands, blocks their way and prepares another Hyper Beam.
Jessie then grabs Wobbuffet and puts it in front, "You get out in front for a change!"
Dragonite fires and Wobbuffet uses Counter to block it.
Wobbuffet cries out, "WOBBUFFET!" (Counterattack!)
The Hyper Beam is reflected and nails Dragonite, causing it to land in the fire.
Molly witnessed it, "Dragonite!"
"Well, look at that!" James says.
"Wobbuffet, you ARE good for something!" Jessie says.
"WOBBUFFET! (I sure am!) Wobubffet says.
But Dragonite proves to be stronger than it looks and reveals to have survived.
Meowth cries out, "IT'S BACK!"
Dragonite looks at Team Rocket furiously.
"Is it possible that it's even more angry?!" James panics.
Jessie cries out, "Run!"
But they wind up falling into a pile before Dragonite fires another Hyper Beam. However, it ends up getting countered by a Flamethrower. Turns out that it has come from Charizard.
"Hey! Dragonite, Molly, we're here to help you!" Mew calls out.
Molly is relieved, "Mew! Guys!"
Jessie is relieved in tears, "My hero!"
"We're saved!" James says.
"We're so grateful!" Meowth says.
Soon, the group lands.
Clair calls out, "Dragonair, go!"
Dragonair comes out soon after..
Clair calls out, "Now, Dragonair, put out the fire!"
Using its power, Dragonair causes rain to come down and douse the flames.
"Right on target!" Tomo cheers.
Then Liza says, "Come on, Charla, let's go lead all of those Pokémon to safety!"
Charla agrees and she and Liza fly off.
"Misty! Let's help!" Brock says.
"Right!" Misty says.
"We'll help too!" Tomo and Jen say.
"I'll get Molly!" Mew says.
Brock and the others do just that. Mew rushes to get Molly.
Brock throws his Pokeballs, "Onix, Geodude, let's go!"
Brock calls out, "Onix, use Rock Throw on that fire!"
Onix does so while Geodude rescues two Rattata trapped in the fire.
Misty throws her Pokeballs, "Staryu, Politoed, go help them!"
Both Pokemon come out.
"Put out the fire with Water Gun!" Misty calls out.
Staryu fires while Politoed claps.
"That means you, too," Misty says.
Politoed soon fires.
Tomo also calls out, "Go Aqua! Dew!"
Soon, Aqua the Squirtle and Dew the Totodile comes out.
Jen does the same, "Quagsire you help too!"
With that, the three Pokemon come out and use Water Gun.
And in no time, the fire in the area is put out.
Mew is able to find Molly and reaches her.
Soon, Mew's Charizard and the Dragonite are staring each other down fiercely.
Both Charziard and Dragon intensely stare each other down, ready to battle.
Hold on, Charizard!" Mew calls out.
Clair then says to Dragonite, "Dragonite, you've got to calm down."
Team Rocket soon grovels at Mew's feet.
"You've freed us from the jaws of death and despair!" Jessie cries out.
"How could we ever repay you?" Meowth asks.
"Do you take checks?" James asks.
"Wooooobbuffet!" (Our hero!) Wobbuffet cries out.
Kaburagi soon takes the sack holding the dragon fang.
"I'll just take this off your hands now," Kaburagi says.
"Hey, that's mine!" James cries out.
"You want what's yours?" Kaburagi questions with a stern expression
James worriedly says, "Uh, no thanks!"
Clair then approaches Dragonite, "Dragonite, it's Clair, don't you recognize me?"
Dragonite looks down at her angrily.
"Dragonite, come on! It's me!" Clair says.
But Dragonite just angrily fires a Hyper Beam at her.
"Look out!" Mew cries out.
Charizard quickly fires a Flamethrower to save Clair's life, but the resulting explosion blows her away, prompting everyone to check on her.
"Oh no! Clair!" Misty cries out.
"Are you hurt?" Mew asks.
"I just don't understand this!" Clair says, worried.
"I hate to say it, but I fear poor Dragonite is suffering from what appears to be the after effect of Outrage," Kaburag says.
"Outrage?!" Mew exclaims in shock and worry.
"No! Not that!" Clair says, worried.
Dragonite, blinded with rage, creates a Whirlwind that blows the rain clouds away, even Liza and Brock feel the force of the wind up in the air.
"How are the Pokémon, Brock?!" Liza asks.
"Okay!" Brock says.
"What's Outrage?!" Misty asks.
"When dragon Pokémon perform lots of attacks one right after the other, they can become totally confused!" Clair says.
"Then, this happens?!" Jen asks.
"It's unable to stop itself from attacking!" Clair says.
As Clair speaks, Dragonite fires Hyper Beam after Hyper Beam and towards the group. Dragonite closes in to take them out, but Charizard steps in.
"That was close. Thanks, Charizard," Mew says.
She then calls out to Dragonite, "Hey, Dragonite! Can't you hear the voices of all those Pokémon? I may be wrong, but I think they're trying to help you remember. This place is your home!"
But Dragonite doesn't seem to listen.
"Something just terrible must've happened to make Dragonite behave this way!" Kaburagi says.
James weakly says, "I think I might know."
They soon see the prayer flame and bowl outside of the Dragon Shrine.
"What?!" Clair exclaims.
"You...stole the prayer flame?!" Kaburagi says, shocked.
"And it slipped out of your hands?!" Mew asks, shocked.
"I bought cheap gloves," James says.
"We trying to be frugle," Meowth says.
"Leave me out of this wreckage. You two blew it!" Jessie says.
"Enough!" Clair says, "We have to save the Dragon's Holy Land and the shrine!"
"I'll take care of it, Clair!" Clair says.
"Politoed, Water Gun!" Misty calls out.
"Quagsiee, use Water Gun too!" Jen calls out
Both Pokemon perform the attacks and put out the flames.
"Good job, you two," Misty says.
"You were great!" Jen says.
Clair turns to Kaburagi, "I'm gonna leave this in your hands. Is that okay?"
"Sure," Kaburagi says.
"Somehow, I've gotta save all those Pokémon," Clair says.
Meanwhile, in the skies above the burned part of the forest, Charizard and Dragonite are about to face off.
"Charizard, Flamethrower, now!" Mew calls out.
Charizard fires, Dragonite tries to avoid it, but gets burned and winds up landing in the lake.
"Did that do it?" Mew wonders.
However, Dragonite resurfaces and fires a Hyper Beam at the two, but they're saved by Dragonair's Safeguard.
"Dragonair!" Mew calls out.
"Glad that you're okay," Clair says.
"Thank you, Clair," Mew says.
"For now, we battle together. Dragonair, let's cut Dragonite off!" Clair says.
Dragonair does so with a Bind attack, but Dragonite quickly breaks free.
Charizard, Flamethrower!" Mew calls out.
The attack fires, though Dragonite tries to block.
"Dragonair, Hyper Beam, now!" Clair says.
"The attack fires and hits, but Dragonite is still up and flying.
"What?!" Clair says, shocked.
Dragonite lets out an angry roar.
"Use Hyper Beam again!" Clair calls out.
Dragonair fires the attack, but Dragonite quickly dodges and throws Dragonair down, though it manages to recover.
"Charizard, Seismic Toss!" Mew calls out.
Charizard closes in, but Dragonite sidesteps and smacks Charizard in the back with its tail, sending it crashing into the forest below.
"Charizard!" Mew cries out.
"Oh no!" Molly cries out.
Dragonair charges, but Dragonite quickly stops it in its tracks and tosses it down onto a rock, knocking it out on impact.
Charizard soon gets up, ready for round two.
"This won't work, just throwing one attack after another. Mew, I think I have an idea," Clair says.
"What is it?" Mew asks.
"Well, I'm gonna need Pikachu and Eevee to help me out. If this plan works, we could snap Dragonite out of its confusion," Clair says.
Mew turns to her Pokemon, "Are you both ready to help Clair out?"
Pikachu and Eevee answer, (Ready.)
Clair calls out, "Dragonair, call in some thunder clouds!"
Soon Clair's Dragonair brings in some thunder clouds while Charizard and Dragonite prepare to fight as a storm builds up.
"Okay. Now we can stop Dragonite with thunder!" Mew says.
"If we can get Dragonite to be still for just one moment, that might be enough to stop the after effects of Outrage," Clair says.
"Alright, you help us out, too, Charizard!" Mew calls out.
Charizard agrees and flies in with a Flamethrower, but it quickly gets countered by Whirlwind. Nearby, Liza, Charla and Brock feel the gale force of the wind.
"Charla, we've got to get down there!" Liza calls out.
Charla agrees and lands.
"Okay! Now, Dragonair!" Clair says.
Right on cue, Dragonair brings down a lightning strike on Dragonite. Dragonite tries to retreat, but lightning bolts keep striking it.
"It's time, Pikachu! Eevee!Thunder!" Mew calls out.
Both Pokemon launch the attack and it lands.
"That's it!" Clair says.
"We did it!" Mew says.
However, Dragonite refuses to quit without a fight and charges up another Hyper Beam.
"It's Hyper Beam!" Clair says.
Mew calls out, "Charizard, Fire Spin, now!"
The attack fires and combines with the others.
"Check it out!" Brock says.
"The Hyper Beam's trapped inside of the Fire Spin!" Liza says.
Dragonite fires, resulting in a massive explosion. Soon, Dragonite falls into the lake. Everyone waits. However, Dragonite soon surfaces.
"Dragonite!" Clair calls out.
"It didn't work!" Molly says, worried.
Dragonite soon reaches the same altitude as Charizard.
Suddenly, Mew notices, "Look there! Dragonite's eyes!"
Everyone looks and sees Dragonite finally back to normal as it looks around, confused as to what happened before landing and getting a closer look at the soil. Dragonite lets out a sad roar, realizing that it was the cause of the destruction of the flowers and plants.
"Dragonite," Molly says, sadly.
However, as Dragonite calls out, multiple Pokémon come to it, including the rescued ones.
"Look at all the Pokémon," Jen says.
All the Pokémon gather around their mournful friend.
"They can see how bad Dragonite feels, they know Dragonite's not bad," Liza says.
"Unlike some people," Misty says and quickly turns to Team Rocket, "Right?!"
"It's nice to see that Dragonite has that little temper issue under control," Jessie says.
"Well, then, we'll be on our way," James says.
Then all three quickly run off, "Bye!"
"Goodbye!" Kaburagi says as he opens the dragon fang box, "Thieves." But when he does, Kaburagi realizes that the dragon fang was gone, "The dragon fang!"
Holding the fang, James laughs, "Looks like you can't keep a good thief down, now, can you?!"
Molly puffs her cheeks in anger.
She throws her Pokeball and calls out, "Go Yamper!"
"Yamper!" Yamper replies as it comes out.
"Thunderbolt those thieves!" Molly calls out.
Yamper uses Thunderbolt to zap at Team Rocket, sending them flying as James drops the dragon fang.
"NO!" James cries out.
Mew quickly grabs the fang, "It's okay! I've got it!"
Jen turns to Molly, "Nice shot, Molly!"
"Thank Yamper," Molly says.
"Yamper," Yamper happily says.
"Who's idea was it to steal that thing?!" Jessie cries out.
"I believe it was James!" Meo"wth says.
"Fangs, for reminding me!" James cries out.
Back on the ground, Geodude returns the prayer flame to the Dragon Shrine.
"Thanks, Geodude. Good thing that flame didn't go out," Mew says.
"You're right, Mew," Clair says, "And it looks like the Dragon's Holy Land will be alright, too."
Kaburagi then says, "Well that's a glorious relief. More than anything else, I was surprised to see how much Dragonite has grown, both emotionally and physically. But I don't mean to be 'dragon' this thing out!" and laughs, "Get it!"
Everyone else is revealed to have left the shrine, however.
Kaburagi soon notices, "Miss Clair? Everyone? Where'd everyone, go? Hello?!"
Later, Mew and the others have returned to the Blackthorn Gym.
"Thanks for all your help. We couldn't have done it without you," Clair says.
"You're welcome," Mew says.
"But what about the battle?" Molly asks.
"I guess you'll have to start over again," Liza says.
"Yeah. But for now, we should rest up. We can battle first thing tomorrow," Clair says.
"Sounds good to me," Mew says.
Just then, Charizard licks Mew.
Liza giggles, "was a good luck kiss."
Mew giggles, "Thanks Charizard."
All the while, the little Wynaut from much earlier that day is seen poking around.
"Though Mew's quest for his eighth badge was interrupted, Mew and her friends were able to help Dragonite and save the Dragon's Holy Land. So now, her last gym battle can finally begin!"
