Chapter 5: Meeting NiGHTS in Spring Valley
In the strange dream world, Sylvia woke up with a yawn and realized that she was not in Claris' living room.
"Woah, where am I?" Sylvia asks.
Sylvia looked over and saw Dana sleeping.
"Dana! Dana! Wake up!"
"Mmm, I'm up, I'm up!" Dana said, yawning.
She looked around the beautiful valley as she sniffed.
"Wow, it's so beautiful out here," Dana said.
"Yeah, it smelled so sweet like flowers!"
"Where are we?"
They got up and looked around. They saw mountains with snow, grassy hills and puffy clouds in the sky.
"Wow, look at this place! It's so colorful!" Dana said.
"Yeah, but I wonder what this place is," Sylvia wondered.
"It's some kind of place where every kids dreamed of. Oh wait, I think we're dreaming!"
"Oh yeah, I think we are!"
"What else is there?"
Suddenly, they looked up and saw Claris floating down with five-colored orbs floating around her.
"Hey! That's Claris!" Sylvia said.
"Oh my!" Dana said.
Claris landed on her feet and looks around this strange valley.
"Wh-where am I?" Claris asked, "I don't think this is the Seeds Tower."
She then noticed that she saw a palace standing in the hill. She walks towards the hill suddenly, four creatures came flying towards her and steals her colorful orbs (except the red orb), then flys off into different directions.
"Oh, that's gotta hurt!" Dana said.
Claris got up and looks at the creatures. "Hey! Wait! Oh… well that's not fair!" Claris pouted, Sylvia and Dana ran up to her.
"Are you okay?" Sylvia asks her.
"Yeah, I think my back's a little too…"
Claris turned and realized that her friends, Sylvia and Dana are standing right here.
"Sylvia! Dana! What are you girls doing here?"
"Me and Dana were sleeping in your living room when suddenly, we find ourselves in this colorful place." Sylvia explained.
"And we saw you floating down from the sky and got attack by… uh… mysterious creatures." Dana said.
"Yeah, but those creatures took my… strange-colorful objects." Claris said.
"What can we do to get them back?"
A voice then said, "maybe I can help you!"
Claris & the girls notices that strange voice, they looked around.
"Who said that?" Claris asks.
"Uh… maybe someone's there, I think?" Dana questioned.
"Right behind you," the voice called again.
The girls turned their heads around and saw a purple jester inside the dome, bowing at them.
"Who are you?" Claris asks.
"I am the Nightmaren," the jester replied.
"Huh?"
"My name's NiGHTS."
"Oh, nice to meet you. I'm Claris Sinclair!"
Sylvia raised her eyebrows. "Hey! I know you, you're the jester from our dreams that's we saw!"
"Yes I am!" NiGHTS said.
"Oh, we forgot to introduce ourselves. I'm Sylvia, and this is Dana."
"Nice to meet ya!"
Claris holds her hand out. "Wanna handshake?"
NiGHTS was about to handshake her, but they realize that they're imprisoned in their dome.
"Obviously… I can't." NiGHTS Said.
"Why not?" Sylvia asks.
"Because I was trapped in this dome for hours."
"Why are you trapped? Who did this to you?" Claris asks.
"It was none other than Wizeman and his henchmen: Reala and Jackle." NiGHTS answered.
The girls gasped in shock.
"That's terrible!" Sylvia said.
"Who's Wizeman, Reala & Jackle?" Claris asks.
"Wizeman is the most powerful and evilest Nightmaren in the whole world. Reala & Jackle are the most-arch nemesis in all of Nightopia." NiGHTS explained to the girls.
"And how come they've trapped you?" Dana asks.
"I can tell you why. You see, it all started when I was playing my invisible flute with the Nightopian fairies when all of a sudden, Reala showed up and wants me to play a game of racing. I agree with him and we both race… until I won. Then suddenly, Reala uses the force to put me into this palace, and now I'm trapped. Thanks to him!" NiGHTS explained.
"Oh, that stupid jester!" Dana pouted.
"What are the Nightopians?" Sylvia asks.
"The Nightopians are a type of fairies that can fly and sing." NiGHTS told the girls.
"Hey, Claris can sing too!"
"Can you tell what those colorful objects are?" Claris asks.
"Those colorful objects are called Ideyas," said NiGHTS.
"Ideyas?" the girls asked.
"Yes. Ideyas are five-colorful, crystallized orbs that represent human dream energy." NiGHTS explained.
"Wow, colorful Ideyas." Dana said with her eyes twinkled.
"What type of Ideyas?" Sylvia asks.
"Well, the White Ideya represents Purity, the Blue Ideya represents Intelligence, the Green Ideya represents Wisdom/Growth, the Yellow Ideya represents Hope, and the one that you're holding is the Red Ideya of Courage." NiGHTS said to the girls.
"So that's what the Nightmarens took my Ideyas!" Claris said.
"That's right!" NiGHTS said, giving her a thumbs up.
"So what can we do to get them back, NiGHTS?" Sylvia asks.
NiGHTS then reached out to Claris. "You'll have to dualize with me, if we wanna get your Ideyas back."
"Dualize?"
"Yes, so I can get out of this palace!"
Claris took a deep breath and said with a smile. "Okay, let's do it!"
Claris placed her hand onto NiGHTS' hand and dualize together, Sylvia & Dana were surprised to see that Claris had fused with NiGHTS.
"I cannot believe it! They had dualize together!" Dana said.
"But where's Claris?" Sylvia wondered.
"Don't worry, i'm inside NiGHTS' body," Claris' voice said.
"You see, that's what happens when me and the visitor dualize together, and I kept the visitor safe inside of my red diamond." NiGHTS explained.
"Oh, okay. But that's cool!" Dana said.
"Alright, now let's get Claris' Ideyas back!" NiGHTS said.
The jester flew out of the dome as the girls started to follow them.
"So NiGHTS, what kind of creatures that they've took Claris' Ideyas?" Sylvia asks.
"Well, the Nightmarens, of course." NiGHTS answered.
"Nightmarens?" the girls exclaimed.
"What are the Nightmarens?" Claris' voice asked.
"The Nightmarens are a type of creatures that came from Wizeman." NiGHTS told them.
"We know!" Dana & Sylvia said.
"The Nightmarens? Oh yeah, they're the ones who took my Ideyas!" Claris' voice said.
"Correct." NiGHTS replied.
"Now that you're out of the palace, can you tell us where we are?" Dana asks.
"This is Spring Valley, a dreamscape was created by Claris' high admiration to her father, her ideal." NiGHTS explained to the girls.
"Oh, I did?" Claris said.
"Yes you did, remember?"
"Oh yeah, I remember now! I remember when my father took me to the park during springtime!"
"Mmhmm."
"What is ideal?" Dana asks.
"An existing only in your imagination; desirable or perfect but not likely to become a reality." Claris explained.
"I highly doubt that!"
"So where's the Nightmarens?" Sylvia asked.
Suddenly, several Nightmarens appeared and begins to fly straight into NiGHTS and the girls.
"I think they're here right now!" NiGHTS said.
Sylvia and Dana looked at each other and nodded.
"What can we do to stop them?" Dana asks.
"My magical box can stop them, we have the ability to fight the Nightmarens!" Sylvia said, she looked her pockets and realized that she didn't have one. "Uh-oh, I think I must've left it at Claris' home."
"No need to worry, girls. I can paraloop those Nightmarens away!" NiGHTS told them.
NiGHTS flew towards the Nightmarens and paraloops the first Nightmaren, causing it to disappeared.
Dana & Sylvia were amazed to NiGHTS' amazing trick.
"Wow! Does does he…" Dana began.
"…or she do that?" Sylvia finished the sentence.
NiGHTS then paraloops the second Nightmaren, and the third one.
"Yeah-hah!" Claris shouted.
"Way to go, NiGHTS!" Dana shouted.
They flew over the first Ideya Capsule where the White Ideya was held.
"There's the first capsule!" Sylvia asks.
"And that's the first Ideya we need!" Dana said.
"But how can we get it out of this?" Claris asks.
Luckily, NiGHTS saw the blue chips floating in the air.
"Listen girls, we gonna need blue chips if we're gonna free Claris' Ideyas." NiGHTS said.
"How can we do that?" Sylvia asks.
"We had to gather 20 blue chips if we wanna destroy the capsule."
"Destroy the capsule? That's a great idea!"
"All right, you two collect the blue chips from the ground while we collect it from the air."
"But what about the Nightmarens?"
"You girls gotta think of something to distract them!"
"But Sylvia doesn't have her magical box with us!"
"Just close you eyes and think of something!"
"We'll try!" They both said.
Sylvia and Dana closed their eyes and two piñata bats appeared.
"Wow! Piñata bats! Just like we need to fight!" Dana said.
"Yeah, just like birthday parties and fiestas!" Sylvia said.
"Now let's get rid of those Nightmarens!"
Sylvia & Dana took combat and slammed the Nightmarens with their bats as NiGHTS & Claris started collecting blue chips and destroyed the first Ideya capsule.
"We got the white Ideya!" Claris said.
"Yeah, but there are three Ideyas we need to collect! Let's get going!" NiGHTS said.
NiGHTS & Claris started paraloop the blue chips and the Nightmarens while the girls are swinging away the creatures with their piñata bats.
After they collected 20 blue chips, they flew over to the capsule and retrieved the green Ideya.
"We got the Green Ideya!" Claris said.
"We need two more!" Dana said.
"You're right! C'mon!" NiGHTS said.
NiGHTS paralooped the Nightmarens while Dana & Sylvia collects the blue chips and slammed the Nightmarens with their bats.
After that, they destroyed the third capsule and retrieve the yellow Ideya.
"One more to go!" Sylvia said.
NiGHTS collected the final 20 blue chips and head towards the fourth capsule and blows up.
"The blue Ideya!" Dana said.
"We got all Claris' Ideyas back!" Sylvia said.
"Yeah!" Claris cheered.
Just then, they noticed the Ideya palace began to glow.
"Why is the dome glowing?" Sylvia asks.
"Because we're about to fight." NiGHTS said.
"Fight?" The girls asked.
"That's right, follow us!"
The girls followed NiGHTS to the Ideya Palace and they were teleported to somewhere.
The girls and the jester find themselves in a weird garden-like environment lair with giant flowers and growing mushrooms, they look up and saw two red suns and blue stars spinning above.
"What is this place?" Sylvia asks.
"This is Gillwing's lair." NiGHTS said.
"Who's Gillwing?" Dana asks.
"He is a giant screaming dragon tadpole with bat wings."
"Sounds scary," said Claris.
"So where is he?"
All of a sudden, they heard roaring sound, they looked up and saw Gillwing flying above.
"Hello, NiGHTS." Gillwing said.
"The dragon talked!" Sylvia said.
"Yeah," Dana replied.
"Gillwing, trying to invade Nightopia, huh?" NiGHTS questioned.
"Yes. Wizeman sent me to stop you… and the visitors from getting to his realm." Gillwing said.
"Oh yeah? Then let's fight!"
Gillwing began to roar and NiGHTS prepared for combat.
"Go get 'em NiGHTS!" Sylvia called out.
"Let's stop that dragon!" Claris said.
NiGHTS charged at Gillwing with their drill-dash and pops the dragon's head.
"That was easy!" Dana said.
"Not quite yet, look!" NiGHTS said, pointing at the dragon.
Gillwing grows his head back from his long tail, the girls were shocked.
"It grows his head back."
"Well that's just great!" Sylvia pouted.
"We can we do now?" Claris asked.
NiGHTS looked behind Gillwing and see his tail, then gets an idea.
"Here's the plan, me & Claris will paraloop his tail while you girls distract him." NiGHTS said to the girls.
"We can do that, right Dana?" Sylvia asked Dana "Yes we can!" Dana said to her.
"Let's go!" They both said.
Sylvia and Dana flew over to Gillwing and started making silly faces.
"Nah-nah, nah-nah-nah!" Sylvia said, making silly faces.
"Hubba-wubba-wubba!" Dana said.
"Stop it, girls! You're making so… so… upset!" Gillwing roared.
Gillwing started to chase the girls as NiGHTS looked at them.
"Now's our chance!" Claris said.
NiGHTS flew faster to Gillwing's tail, paraloops around his tail and exploded.
"HEY!" Gillwing shouted.
"Alright, keep distracting him!"
"You got it, NiGHTS!" Both girls said.
The girls continued making funny faces to Gillwing and NiGHTS paraloops the tail again.
"OH! WHAT THE?!" Gillwing screamed.
"One more time!" NiGHTS said.
Sylvia and Dana then being chased by the green & blue dragon when NiGHTS started to drill-dash.
"Here's… NiGHTS!"
NiGHTS paraloops the tail one last time, then it disappeared, causing Gillwing to shrivel.
"I'll get you next time!" Gillwing screamed, then disappears.
After he shriveled up to nothing, they find themselves back in Spring Valley. The girls turned and saw Claris was back into herself.
"Hey Claris!" Dana said.
"Looks-like you're back." Sylvia said.
"Yeah, we did it Ni- NiGHTS? Where'd they go?" Claris wondered.
"They were just here!"
"They must've disappeared when we defeated Gillwing!"
Just then, a fairy with a crown came floating towards them.
"Who are you?" Claris asks.
"I am Pian, the king of Nightopians." King Pian said.
"Oh, you're the king! Right?" Dana questioned.
"Mmhmm, and we wanna thank you for defeating Gillwing!"
"Of course we did, can you tell us where our friend is?" Sylvia asks.
"You mean NiGHTS? They've gone off into another place to help someone!"
"Oh, we see."
"But there's more areas to see. good luck, girls!" He said, then he flies away.
"Okay, see ya later!"
Just then, they saw a glowing entrance that leads to another place.
"Hey! What is that?" Dana questioned.
"It's a glowing portal!" Sylvia said.
"Where do you think it leads?" Claris asks.
"I think we're about to find out!"
The girls then walked towards the portal, then disappears.
Aware to them, someone was watching over the crystal ball, was a red jester and the orange trickster was called "Reala & Jackle".
"So, those girls can defeated Gillwing, heh?" Reala said.
"Yeah, but what about that boy?" Jackle asks.
"Don't worry, I got a perfect enemy to play with!"
"Oh, good thinking! Right, Wizeman?"
"Right…"
They all laughed, manically.
