Chapter 8: Warming Up in Frozen Bell
In the frozen valley, a portal appears and the boys stepped out of it, then looks around the snowy landscape.
"Brrr! It's cold out there!" Steve said, shivering.
"I shouldn't brought my jacket along!" David said.
"Or my scarf!" Tony said.
Elliot turned to his friends. "You'll get used to it, guys. But once we find NiGHTS, we're going to-"
Suddenly, the Nightmarens appeared and stole his Ideyas again, making him flying upwards.
"AH! Again?!" Elliot yelled, landing on his back. He saw the Nightmarens placed his Ideyas in the capsules.
"Fly again?" David finished the sentence.
Elliot got up and rubbed his back. "Yeah, I think. But those creatures had stolen my colorful Ideyas again!"
"Yeah, but what are those creatures up to?" Steve asks.
"I don't know, but I think they're working for Wizeman." Tony said.
"But how can we get my Ideyas back?"
"Looks like you're gonna need help, aren't you?" A voice called.
The boys looked around until they saw NiGHTS inside the dome, bowing at them.
"Hey, it's NiGHTS!" Steve said, pointing at the jester.
"He's back… or she's back, perhaps." David puzzled.
"I think what you meant is… they're back." Tony said to him.
"Oh yeah, right. I didn't know what their gender is."
The boys run up the hill to see NiGHTS as they waved at them.
"Hey NiGHTS, good to see you there!" Elliot said.
"Yeah, where were you?" David asks.
"I was at the Mystic Forest to help out the girls and the pink-haired girl, then we defeated Gulpo!"
Elliot's eyes widened in surprise. "A pink-haired girl? You mean… Claris? The one I go to school with?"
NiGHTS nodded their head. "Precisely! Claris and the girls had their adventure on their own, you're gonna meet them later."
"Hey guys, that must be Sylvia and Dana!" Tony said.
"Yeah, they're with that pink-haired girl!" David said.
"That means we're having a same dream!" Steve said.
"You said it!"
Elliot then looked at his friends. "Guys, do you know when the last time I her? I went on a field trip to the museum to learn about the city's hundred years."
"Really? Is it Twin Seeds?"
"Yes."
"Oh, then tell us about the girl with pink hair you saw her."
"Okay, it all started when I was meeting my friends at the museum…"
Two days earlier before Tony and his friends' arrival, Elliot met up with his friends, Dylan & Jason at the museum for their field trip.
"Hey guys!" Elliot called his friends.
"Elliot! You're here!" Jason said.
"You made it!" Dylan said, patting his back.
"Yeah, I guess I did."
"You're ready for our field trip to learn about our city's a hundred-years-old?"
"Yes I am."
"Alright, but can't you believe that our city is turning 100?"
"Yeah, I'm so excited for Saturday."
"Because they're getting ready for the festival? Yeah."
"Come on, let's go in!"
"Last one to the museum's entrance is a rotten egg!"
Elliot and his friends ran up the steps and head into the entrance of the museum. But as Elliot went inside the museum, he noticed that he saw Claris starring at her. Just then, his friends came out.
"Elliot, what are you doing? Come on, we're gonna miss the group!" Dylan said, pulling him inside.
"But that girl- with pink hair!" Elliot shouted.
"Ah, who cares? Come on!" Jason said, pulling Elliot inside.
Elliot looks at Claris, then gets pulled inside.
During the tour, Elliot listened to the story of Twin Seeds, he saw Claris who was looking at him until his friends pulled him and catches up with the group, leaving her with her group.
At lunchtime, Elliot sat down between Dylan & Jason.
"Hey Elliot, glad you can sit with us. Watcha got there?" Dylan asks.
"Me? I have a celery, swiss cheese, and a baloney sandwich," said Elliot, taking his lunch out of his bag.
"Baloney?" Jason asks.
"Yeah, it's to keep my muscles strong."
"Oh, okay."
As Elliot was about to take a bite out of his baloney sandwich, he noticed that he saw Claris sitting at the lunch table with her friends and she looks at him, then another student blocks his way.
"You okay, Elliot?" Jason asks.
"Oh! Uh… yeah. I'm always okay!" Elliot replied.
"What are you looking at?" Dylan questioned.
"I was look at the pink-haired girl from school that I just saw."
"You mean Claris Sinclair?"
"Mmhmm."
"Well that's just great."
"Let's get our minds off and start eating."
Elliot looks down and sighed as continued eating his lunch with his friends.
"…and that when I saw her during our field trip." Elliot finished his story to his friends.
"That sounds like a sad story for you," said David.
"Actually, no. It wasn't sad, it was mysterious."
"Oh, mysterious!"
"So NiGHTS, can you tell us what this place is?"
"Yeah, it is very chilly out here."
"This is Frozen Bell, a place where it's created by Elliot's memories from his past, that holds the precious memories of events and occurrences with his consciousness." NiGHTS explained to the boys.
"Wait, you mean I have precious memories from my past events?" Elliot asks and NiGHTS nodded.
"I guess we had precious memories from our past adventures, haven't we?" Tony asks the boys and they nodded.
NiGHTS continued explaining. "As I was saying, these memories built who we are as a person and helped us grow. There are many memories in this dreamscape from simple to significant."
"And what are the type of Nightmarens?" Steve asks.
"The Nightmarens in this area, are Hollows, Snips & Gaos."
"That Nightmarens stole my Ideyas again!"
"Yes, and that's why we're getting them back!"
"And fight those Nightmarens away!" David said.
NiGHTS then reached out to Elliot and the boys. "Grab my hand and we'll dualize together!"
"Okay, you're the boss!" Elliot said, he placed his hand onto the jester's hand and they dualize together.
"Don't worry, we'll use our Nerf guns to see if there's any Nightmarens around," Steve said.
"Good! Now, are we're ready, boys?" NiGHTS told them.
"Yes we are!" The boys said.
"Now let's get to the bottom of this!"
NiGHTS flew out of the dome as the boys getting ready to combat with the Nightmarens.
"Eat my dust!" David screamed and shoots Nerf darts at the Gao.
"Hey Snips! Take a look at me!" Tony called out to Snip, then he shoots at the creature.
"Backflip!" Steve said, then he jumped backwards and shoots at the Hollows.
Tony runs up to him and patted on his shoulder. "Nice trick, Steve!"
Steve giggled. "Thanks."
NiGHTS then flew over to the first capsule and destroys it with 20 blue chips that they've collected, then collects the White Ideya.
"The white Ideya, the first one!" Elliot said.
"Now all we need is the yellow Ideya. Boys, did you see that snow train?" NiGHTS questioned, pointing at the train.
The boys looked at the train, then nodded.
"Yeah," said Tony.
"Hop on!" NiGHTS said.
The boys got onto the snow train and starts chugging down the rails.
"I've never been on this train before!" Steve said, happily.
"Me too!" David said.
"Yeah, but we gotta be careful if we don't wanna fall off!" Tony said, holding his Nerf gun.
"Okay!"
"Whatever you say!"
The boys pulled out their Nerf guns and started shooting at the Hollows, then the Snips and the Gaos.
"Are you guys having fun?!" Tony said.
"Yes we are!" The boys said.
"This is the best dream ever!" David said, feeling hyped.
"Me too!" Steve hyped.
NiGHTS grabbed the bar and starts spinning round and round like a gymnastic player while collecting blue chips.
The boys looked up and saw NiGHTS doing gymnastics.
"Woah, I didn't know NiGHTS can do gymnastics tricks!" Steve said.
"You said it!" David said.
Just then, Tonya noticed that the Hollows are coming right behind them. He took out his Nerf gun and pointed at the Hollows.
"Guys, duck!" Tony said, the boys turned and ducked, then he shoots at the purple owls.
"Tony, you noticed that the Hollows are right behind us!" David said.
"Yeah, I did!" Tony said, blushing.
After NiGHTS collected 20 blue chips, they destroyed the second capsule and gets the yellow Ideya.
"We got the yellow Ideya! Now we had to get the Green Ideya and the Blue Ideya," said Elliot.
"Let's move, guys!" NiGHTS called out.
The boy got off the snow train and started to shoots the Nightmarens.
"Eat my bacon!" David said, then shoots the Snip with a Nerf dart.
"That's what I'm gonna say!" Steve said.
"Oh, Steve!"
Tony shoots the Hollows and the Gaos, until he gets knocked out by a Hollow and hits the snow bank when he's running out of Nerf darts.
Steve & David runs over to him and helps him out, then Tony rubs his head.
"Are you alright, Tony?" David asks.
"Yeah, but I think I got by… wait, didn't I wake up?" Tony questioned.
"I don't know, we're still asleep?" Steve asked.
"I'll check." David said, then he pinched his arm, but it didn't happened.
"You're awake?"
"Nope, but I think we're still dreaming."
"Oh, I guess we're still in Nightopia, huh."
"Yeah. C'mon, let's keep shooting!"
"But my Nerf gun's ran out of darts!"
"Then find something to throw with, try throwing snowballs at them!"
"If that's the case, great idea!"
The boys then shouted at the Hollows, Snips and Gaos while Tony decided to throws snowballs at the Nightmarens instead.
NiGHTS then destroyed the third capsule and retrieved the green Ideya when they had enough blue chips to open it.
"The green Ideya, we got it!" Elliot said.
"Yeah, but we need the blue Ideya to open the final capsule!" NiGHTS said.
"But there is no blue chips around here!" Steve said.
"Not if they have it on bobsled hills," said NiGHTS.
"They have?" David asks, NiGHTS pointed at the blue chips on the icy slide. "Oh, I guess they have one!"
"But how could we get 'em?"
"Take it from me!" NiGHTS then transformed into a bobsled with Elliot, sitting on it.
"Woah, NiGHTS, did you just turned into a bobsled?" Elliot asks.
"Of course, that's why I can shape-shift into different shapes!"
"Oh, NiGHTS, you're a jester, not a bobsled!" Steve said, giggling.
"Hop in!" They said.
"Why?" David asks.
"Just get in!"
The boys shrugged, then got onto the bobsled and started sliding down the icy hill.
"Woah, this is fun!" David said.
"Yeah, we should brought our goggles along for this ride!" Steve said.
"Yeah, this is awesome!" Elliot said as he throw his arms up in the air.
"Now let's get those blue chips!" Tony said.
NiGHTS, Elliot and the boys slide down the bobsled hill and collected 20 blue chips.
"Hey! We got 20 blue chips, now let's head over to the final capsule!" Elliot said.
NiGHTS then noticed that there was a ramp in front of them. "Guys, there's a ramp up ahead! Hold on tight!"
"Why?" Tony asks.
"Trust me!"
The boys looked at each other and holds NiGHTS bobsled.
"Here… we… go!" NiGHTS said.
The bobsled flew off the ramp and into the air.
"Jump off, guys!" NiGHTS called the boys.
"Why do we wanna do that?" Steve asks.
"C'mon!" Tony said.
The boys jumped off the bobsled (except Elliot) and NiGHTS transformed back into a jester as they landed on their feet.
"That was fun!" David said, throwing his arms in the air.
"Yeah, now let's get the last Ideya!" Tony said.
NiGHTS & Elliot destroyed the last capsule and retrieved the blue Ideya.
"Hooray!" The boys cheered.
"The blue Ideya, we got it!" Elliot said.
"Now that we got all four Ideyas, let's defeat the Nightmaren!" NiGHTS said.
"I'm with you, NiGHTS!" Steve said.
Just then, a rapid glow surrounds the heroes and flys up into the darkness.
They opened their eyes and find themselves in the weird carousel-like machine.
"Where are we?" Steve asks.
"I think we're inside a machine," said Tony.
"Yes, this is Clawz's Machine," NiGHTs explained.
"Clawz?" They asked.
"Yes," NiGHTS said to them.
"Who's Clawz?" Tony asks.
"Clawz is a one of Wizeman's evil henchmen. He can be sneaky and avoids melee combat by always running away and shooting fireworks." NiGHTS explained.
"Fireworks? Like the 4th of July?" David questioned.
"Yes."
"So where is Clawz anyway?" Tony said, looking around.
Just then, they heard a loud meow sound coming their side. They turned and saw a giant black cat with a sinister smile and yellow star on his forehead. He has yellow and red stripes on his back, legs and tail, blue paws with red claws and blue pointy wings.
"I think we found him!" Steve said.
"Hello, NiGHTS. Welcome to my machine," said Clawz.
"And the cat talks," said David.
"The Wizeman had sent me to stop you guys from getting into his realm," said Clawz.
"Yeah, but we're gonna take you down!" NiGHTS told the black cat.
"Oh, but my Mice fireworks can hurt you a bit!"
"Oh yeah? Then bring it on, Clawz!"
"Come and get me!"
NiGHTS flew over to paraloop him, but he dashed away.
"What the?" NiGHTS questioned.
"HA! Bet you can attack me, wouldn't ya? Well, my super speed can avoid melee! Haha!" Clawz laughed.
"How did he run so fast?" Tony asks.
NiGHTS tried to paraloop him, but the black cat runs off again.
"Hey!" NiGHTS exclaimed.
"Missed me!" Clawz laughed again.
NiGHTS couldn't keep up with Clawz because they couldn't paraloop him.
"He's… too… fast!" NiGHTS said, catching his breath.
"How… can… we… beat him?" Elliot asks, catching his breath.
Luckily, NiGHTS noticed that the Mice Fireworks can defeat the black cat.
"Guys, I have a plan. I'll drill-dash to the mice fireworks while you boys shoot it with your Nerf guns!" NiGHTS told the boy.
"You got it, man!" David said.
Tony and the boys aimed for the mice fireworks as NiGHTS began to prepare his drill-dash.
"Have some cheese, mice!" Tony said, then shoots at the firework.
"Hey! What are you doing with my mices?" Clawz screamed.
"It's none of your business!" Steve said, then shoots at the mice's head.
NiGHTS then drill-dashed at the mice fireworks and exploded. "Yeah, we're destroying your mices, no matter what!"
David shooted two mice's heads on the fireworks. "So we can stop you!"
"No! Wait, I was gonna use that to destroy you all!" Clawz complained.
"Well too bad, we're blowing them up!" Elliot said.
They finished destroying the Mice fireworks as the spotlight shines down on the car.
"Ah! The spotlight! It shines!" Clawz screamed, covering his eyes.
"Yes! Now I can paraloop that cat." NiGHTS said.
"Now it is time to get rid of him!" Tony said.
"Alright, here goes nothing!"
NiGHTS then charged at Clawz and paraloops around him, then Clawz began to disappear.
"I will be back!" Clawz yelled as he disappeared.
"Well, that was a great way to defeat him," Steve said.
"Come on, guys. Let's head back!" NiGHTS said.
Then again, a rapid glow surrounds the boys and the jester, then vanishes into thin air.
Elliot and the boys had arrived back in Frozen Bell, then looks at himself.
"Well, i'm back to my normal self again," Elliot said.
"Yeah," said Steve, "and NiGHTS' gone."
"Don't worry, they'll come back when they're finished helping our friends." Tony said to Steve.
"Thanks, Tony."
"Are we gonna build a snowman now?" David asks.
Just then, the boys turned and saw King Pian, who appeared right behind them.
"Hey Pian!" Elliot said.
King Pian cleared his throat. "Just call me, King Pian."
"I mean, King Pian, you're back again?"
"Yeah, you boys did a great job saving Frozen Bells. Now the fairies can ride on the train and go bobsledding again!"
"Yeah, thanks!" the boys said, taking a bow.
"Now time for you boys to go to the last Nightopia, the Stick Canyon. After that, you'll meet up with your other friends!"
"You mean, Sylvia & Dana?" David asks.
"And the girl with pink hair?"
"Precisely, see you guys later!" Pian said, then he vanished.
"Bye, King Pian!" The boy said.
Elliot looks down at his feet and sighed, the boys noticed that he was thinking about the pink-haired girl, Claris.
"Elliot, you're feeling okay?" Tony asks.
"It sounds like you're feeling sad," said David.
"Me? No, I'm fine, really. I was thinking about the girl from the museum."
"You mean the girl with pink hair that you've told us about?" Steve asks.
"Yes," Elliot replies.
The boys looked at each other in confusion, then looks at their friend.
"Are you gonna build a snowman with us?" Tony said to him.
"No thanks, I need to lay down and think about the pink-haired girl, Claris." Elliot said.
"Okay, if you need anything, we'll be standing right here, okay?"
"Alright."
"Good."
The boys started to build a snowman while Elliot lays down on the snowy banks, then he starts thinking about Claris.
Elliot:
Come out, moon
Come out, wishing star
Come out, come out...
Wherever you are.
David & his friends noticed that Elliot was singing when they finished building the snowman.
Elliot:
I'm out here in the dark,
All alone and wide awake
Come and find me
Back in the Mystic Forest, Claris was still thinking about Elliot while sitting on the stone and looks at the pond in front of her.
Claris:
I'm empty and I'm cold,
And my heart's about to break
Come and find me
Claris & Elliot:
I need you to come here and find me
'Cause without you, I'm totally lost
Elliot looks at the snowflakes falling from the sky and it shows Claris, smiling.
Elliot:
I've hung a wish on every star
It hasn't done much good so far
I can only dream of you...
Claris & Elliot:
Wherever you are.
Claris:
But when the morning comes,
And the sun begins to rise,
I will lose you
As she was looking at the pond, her reflection turns into Elliot, smiling.
Claris:
Because it's just a dream,
When I open up my eyes,
I will lose you
Sylvia and Dana noticed that Claris was singing.
Claris:
I used to believe in forever,
But forever's too good to be true
Elliot:
I've hung a wish on every star
Claris & Elliot:
It hasn't done much good so far!
I can only dream of you
Wherever you are.
Steve holds onto David's shoulders as Tony watches him in sadness. Sylvia and Dana looked at each other in sadness.
Claris & Elliot:
I'll hear you laugh I'll see you smile I'll be with you...
Claris:
Just for a while!
Elliot:
Oh, I'll be there just for a while!
The teens had find themselves in the night sky as they began to slow-dance.
Claris & Elliot:
Ooh... I used to believe in forever...
Elliot:
But forever's too good to be true. (Claris: To be true!)
I've hung a wish on every star
Claris & Elliot:
It hasn't done much good so far!
I don't know what else to do
Elliot:
Except to try to dream of you! (Claris: Dream of you!)
Claris had find herself back in the Mystic Forest while Elliot finds himself back in Frozen Bells.
Claris & Elliot:
And wonder, if you're dreaming too...
Wherever you are.
Wherever you... are.
Elliot sighed as he continued looking at the sky while Claris looked at the pond in sadness.
Meanwhile, Reala and Jackle was looking at the crystal ball to hear Elliot and Claris's song, they were upset that they've defeated Gulpo and Clawz.
"What do we have here?" Reala questioned.
"All the tears, and some showtunes? Why'd they defeated our henchmen?" Jackle said, angrily.
"Yeah, they were supposed to defeat them, not getting defeated by NiGHTS and their friends! Do you know what time it is?" Reala asks.
"Time for plan C?"
"Yeah, time to go see Wizeman about the new plan!"
"You think, you think? Whose idea was this?"
"Well duh, it was my idea, of course. C'mon!"
The jester left the room as they went to see Wizeman again.
Meanwhile, Claris was still looking at her reflection while thinking about the boy from her field trip. The girls decided to walk over to her and looks at the pond with her.
"Hey Claris," Sylvia greeted.
Claris got startled and sees her friends by her sides. "Oh! Hi Sylvia! Hi Dana! What are you doing here?"
"We just saw you feeling sad and heard your singing voice," said Dana, comforting her.
"Yeah, but you girls liked my singing voice?"
"Yes. You did good, you're gonna be a superstar singer when you're about to get the audition!"
"Thanks girls, it was the nicest thing you've ever done."
Claris and her friends stood up.
"I will get that audition for Twin Dreams, no matter what!" Claris announced, as she points her finger up to the sky.
"That's great!" Sylvia said.
"Yeah, so the judges won't have to be stage frightened!" Dana said, patting her back.
Suddenly, a portal appears right in front of them.
"Come on, girls! Let's head to the final Nightopia!" Claris said to her friends.
The girls then walked into to portal, then it closes.
Back at Frozen Bell, Elliot was still looking at the snowflakes and his friends walked up to him.
"Hey Elliot, you're feeling okay?" Tony asks.
Elliot got startled as he gets up and looks at Tony and the boys.
"Yeah, just looking at the falling snowflakes."
"And snowflakes tasted good!" Steve said, as he catches the snowflake with his tongue.
"Elliot, no matter what you're thinking about the bullies. You saved us from Roger and his buddies and you teahced them a lesson!" David explained to him.
Elliot got up and looks at his friends. "Thanks David, it was great way to say that. I will stand up between Roger and his team for our basketball tournament!" Elliot announced, pointing a the sky with his finger.
"That's the spirit!" Tony said to Elliot.
All of a sudden, they noticed that a portal appears right beside them.
"You boys, ready?" he asked.
"Yeah!" the boys cheered.
"Great! Next stop, Stick Canyon!"
The boys marched into the portal and it closes.
Back at Wizeman's realm, two jester had running up to their master.
"Wizeman! Listen, we got some bad news." Reala said.
"Yeah? Then tell me about," said the Wizeman.
"The girls had defeated Gulpo…" Jackle began.
Reala finished the sentence. "…and the boys had defeated Clawz!"
"What?!" Wizeman yelled in frustration. "Who's responsible for this?"
"It was obviously NiGHTS, of course."
"Yeah, they're the ones who helped them."
"Grr, that purple jester and their friends had always defeating my henchmen!"
"Hey mister, is there a new plan that we can do?"
"Well, why don't you guys… to get them by yourselves!"
The jester looked at each other confused.
"Is that a new plan?" Jackle asks.
"Yes. So here's what we're gonna do. Jackle, you head over to the Soft Museum and gets this girls. Reala, you'll take care of those boys at the Stick Canyon, got it?" Wizeman said to them.
"Got it, sir!" Reala ordered.
"It's a great idea, sir!" Jackle said.
"Now, off you go!"
The jesters nodded and disappeared as the Wizeman grinned, evily.
Author's Note: The song "Wherever You Are" was from "Pooh's Grand Adventure: The Search for Christopher Robin". I also remembered watching this film at O'Neil back in 3rd or 4th grade.
