Gabby wasn't sure if the recording device going into The Demon Realm made it cursed in some way. Were there such things as demon germs? There was so much to think about and yet all of that had to be tossed by the wayside so that the five of them could listen intently.

In the recording, they heard the encouraging words that Gabby said to Slimer before he began his journey along with Egon saying "It begins." The recording then went silent. It was assumed that Slimer was floating in the realm and looking around. A strange white noise that sounded a little like a person exhaling could be heard and Gabby wasn't sure if this was an actual background noise or feedback from the recording. Frankly, she didn't want to know.

Soon, Slimer's voice was reading out coordinates and making sure he was following the right ones. Understandably, this took a while. The minutes ticked by and Gabby started to wonder if Slimer recorded anything of note.

But her worrying was soon unfounded when Slimer managed to approach two alps having a conversation. Since they didn't know their names (at least not until the end of the recording), Gabby thought of them as Alp #1 and Alp #2.

"Uh… hello?" said Slimer.

"Hey, we haven't seen YOU before!" said Alp #1.

Gabby looked at Ray, who also flashed eyes of concern. The way that the demon said this statement sounded a bit accusatory.

"That's because he's new around here, aren't you, Buddy?" said Alp #2.

Gabby calmed down a little. The conversation had taken a friendly turn.

"Yes," said Slimer.

"Don't be shy, what's your name?" asked Alp #1.

There was a pause.

"C'mon, Slimer," said Peter, "We practiced this."

"Fred," said Slimer in the recording.

"Nice to meet you, Fred!" said Alp #1, "What part of The Demon Realm do you hail from?"

There was another pause.

"Fred," said Slimer once more. He may not have been giving satisfactory answers but, so far, he wasn't giving himself away by speaking in his usual gobbledy-gook.

"Wow!" said Alp #2, "They named an entire place after him! This guy must be important!"

"No, you dingus!" said Alp #1, "He was named after the place!"

"Which is it, Fred? Were you named after the Place of Fred or was the Place of Fred named after you?"

There was another pause.

"Fred," said Slimer.

"Hah!" said Alp #1, "I was right!"

"No, you weren't!" said Alp #2. This arguing went on for quite a few minutes until Peter decided to press the fast forward button.

"Don't go too far, Peter," said Egon.

Peter pressed play during a part with no arguing, at which point, he rewound to a little bit earlier.

It was during a part when Slimer interrupted the arguing with the most important question of all.

"Guys!" said Slimer in the recording, "What is The Ruckus?" He said this slower than usual in his attempt to get the sentence right.

"You've never heard of The Ruckus?" asked Alp #2, "This guy really is new!"

"The Ruckus is the night we've been preparing for!" said Alp #1, "On the 27th, a whole swarm of us is going to descend on New York City and trash the place! It's gonna be mayhem and debauchery out the wazoo! We'll do some of our classic shenanigans like stealing milk from nursing animals and riding horses to the point of exhaustion but we're also gonna make graffiti on the sides of buildings, drink to our hearts content and blow up a few mailboxes for good measure!"

This time, everyone in the room gave each other worried looks. Egon's face looked especially scrunched up.

"Sounds like a good time!" said Slimer.

"If you think that's fun, you should see what we do to their babies!" said Alp #1.

By this point, Egon planted the palms of his hand into the table. This part directly affected him. He stared hawk-eyed at the tape recording as if the device itself was the one who was threatening his family.

"What do you do?" asked Slimer in the recording.

"Get this… we take the babies' dirty diapers and put them back on their bottoms!" said Alp #1. "Isn't that hilarious!"

Okay, so maybe what they did to babies wasn't so bad. They weren't going to chop them up and cook them in a stew or switch them with other people's babies. But still, what they described was not a pleasant experience for anyone involved.

"Is he serious?" asked Winston.

"That was so funny, I forgot to laugh," said Egon as he relaxed a little.

And Slimer almost forgot to laugh as well, since he was trying and failing to force a fake one.

"Where do we think up these ideas?" asked Alp #2.

"The same dark place where we came from," said Alp #1.

"Oh, jeez! The Mistress is coming! Look busy!"

The Mistress… that had to be The Witch. Who else could it be?

"Hello, mis queridos," said the woman, "I trust you've been practicing your transformations?"

"That's her," said Ray, "That's Yasmin Farrera!"

Gabby had heard the word "querido" (or any variation thereof) many times but, coming from this woman, the sweet word became icky. It was like it was soaked in swampy slop, hardened in the sun and ground into a powder before escaping her lips. This voice belonged to the woman who was sending out the demons. This woman was responsible for that one summer night when Gabby's mind and bodily processes were violated, five seconds that dragged out ever slower when she combined her suffocation with the sight of those piercing red eyes. This woman was not actually in the room but Gabby was still in fight-or-flight response.

"We certainly have, Your Witchiness!" said Alp #2.

"Well?" said Yasmin, "Don't hold back. Let's see what dreams you've absorbed."

There was a pause. The recording played a sound that was similar to a knife scraping across a stone. This was the sound of transformation, apparently. Once this noise stopped, a thunderous roar could be heard, one that managed to vibrate the recording device.

"My, my! A lion!"

"Big deal!" said the voice of a new demon, "I can transform into a t-rex!"

"It's not a contest, Glibbus," said Yasmin. Gabby couldn't make out what else she said. It was in a whisper, although she thought it was something along the lines of, "Although you ARE my favorite."

"Look at what I can do, Mistress!" said Alp #2. The transformation sound played again, this time leading up to something that was not immediately obvious to those who couldn't see it.

It sounded like a garbled mishmash of cartoon sound effects. It made Gabby think back to when she was little and she would feel slightly scared by the cartoons on TV. It was like peering into a brightly-colored universe full of spontaneity and laws of physics that were a little bit off. How could a character get fatally wounded at the end of one scene and appear fine in the next scene? Gabby knew from a young age how the world worked and it didn't work like THAT. She secretly wondered if this alp had absorbed one of those dreams she had that she couldn't remember.

"That's very… unique," said Yasmin, "But it's scary and that's what counts. And YOU. What do you have in store for us?"

"Uhh…" said Slimer. This was it. He had reached the part where he would be found out. Everyone knew that he was eventually found out, the question was, "How long did it take?"

And it took roughly this long.

"Look!" said Alp #1, "This guy transformed into something that drips slime!"

"That's funny," said Alp #2, "I didn't see him transform."

"That's because he didn't," said Glibbus.

"Alps don't drip slime in their normal forms…" said Yasmin. "And you know what? They don't wear flimsy rag-and-cardboard disguises, either!"

Peter slammed his fist onto the table.

"Rag and cardboard?!" he shouted, "I'll have her know that I did a lot of craft-store-snooping and dumpster-diving to come up with what Slimer wore!"

The recording managed to catch the sound of fabric being forcefully taken off of a body along with the panicked screaming of Slimer.

"What is that?" asked Alp #1, "We're being bugged! He's wearing a recording device!"

Slimer continued to scream as he flew away. He had quite the speed, deduced from the fact that the angry voices chasing him became quieter, although they became louder at certain points.

At this point, the ghostbusters knew what happened next and Peter pressed the "pause" button on the recording device.

The group took a while to think about what they just heard. Gabby felt terrified on behalf of Slimer; terrified from the demons chasing him and terrified for the demons' plans. But she was thankful for both her magical ability and Egon's ingenuity, which gave them evidence they needed to fully prepare for this upcoming catastrophe. She preferred this over any surprise ghost attack.

"Well, there you have it," said Winston, "We're going to get invaded by an army of party animals."

"We should have expected something like this based on the description of these creatures from the spirit guide," said Ray, "I guess these guys are anything but unpredictable."

"You have to realize that this isn't rural Austria in the nineteenth century," said Egon, "This is a crowded urban environment. The damage could potentially total in the millions."

"We need to let The Mayor know," said Ray, "This job sounds like it could be too big for us."

Through it all, Gabby was thinking about what sort of impact this would have on her personal life. Her family had built up a solid reputation for selling quality shoes and providing excellent customer service. They had repeat customers who made their way onto their Christmas card list. If these demons found their way to their store, her parents could be financially ruined. She wasn't sure if business insurance covered Acts of God, much less Acts of the Paranormal. She could help out as much as she could, but what happened to the family business was her parents' problem to deal with.

And then there was Egon. He had his girlfriend (and she WAS a girlfriend, no matter what Egon said) and their baby to worry about. That weird and unhygienic prank was only what that demon felt confident enough to say out loud. They could potentially do a lot worse than put one of Casey's dirty diapers back onto him. Demons didn't have standards. Gabby knew this.

Gabby didn't have to perform Janine's duties anymore but she felt compelled to act.

"I'm going to leave a message on the mayor's answering machine," she said, "I will let them know that this is an emergency."

Egon turned to Gabby and gave her a look of militaristic seriousness.

"You go do that," he said.
