Exotherm: Yes your right about Happy Chaos being alive but he's not the main threat. I feel like it would be easy to force him into plot just because he's the new antagonist. But at the moment the villains reveal will will be kept hidden.
Redraveniskira007: I'm sure Dante can survive for long periods without food because of his demonic blood, however his human traits have to also effect his physiology. At some point he will get hungry, it will take longer than it should for an ordinary human but eventually he'll start starving. Keep in mind he's not a full demon which is why through out the games we see him aging naturally like a human. I know biology shouldn't mean much when it comes to both franchises (At least for Devil May Cry) but I want to keep some forms of logic to ground the story a little.
Dante stepped out of the bakery as a yawn escaped from his mouth. Just another slow day on the job. He couldn't remember the last time he had been this busy, being a shop proprietor for a demon hunting business was more easier than this. Not to mention more fun.
Desipte the lack of excitement it provided Dante couldn't deny that his bosses were enjoyable to work with. Venom might be a bit of a stiff but he knew how to let his hair down and relax when he could. He wished could say the same for his other boss but oh well, messing with him was always fun.
Looking out into the marketing district the red coated devil hunter saw that many towns residents were just walking about and enjoying their day. This made Dante smile, even though he was focused on getting home he couldn't deny that this world or atlest from what he had seen so far was rather nice. Despite the abnormalities he had seen it didn't detract from the warm atmosphere. Hell he was an oddity himself, adding another to the pile couldn't hurt could it?
Thankfully his dull days of helping around the bakery were coming to an end today. Venom kindly insisted that he could use the shop as a temporary home until he got his own place. Wanting to be fair Dante wanted to continue providing assistance around the shop. The baker tried to refuse, seeing as how he had already kept his end of the deal. Dante of course didn't mind saying that it kept him busy. Sure he won't be getting paid anymore but he already mooched off the two enough at this point.
Dante thoughts were interrupted by a loud blaring noise that was heard through out the district. Frowning he realized that it was a police siren and it seemed to be heading in his general direction. He was proven right as he saw what appeared to be mechanical hovering horse pulling a charriot.
The vehicle stopped in front of him and two armed knights slowly stepped out walked towards him.
"There a problem boys?"
"Nothing dire sir but could you please come with us to Illyria castle? Our lieges have ordered us take you in for questioning."
The red coated half demon raised an eyebrow at the knight who kindly asked him to come with them to the countries castle. This naturally set him on edge, having local law enforcement show up randomly out of nowhere to escort you would indicate that something was wrong. Though Dante hadn't done anything illegal, at least as far as he knows he had a guess as to why they were taking him to see the kings.
Glancing around him Dante took notice of the towns locals stopping their daily shopping to look at what was happening. He could see the looks of apprehension on their faces, most likely expecting him to fight and resist arrest. Given that this is peaceful and quiet area he didn't blame them for being worried if an altercation broke out. Thankfully Dante wasn't interested in causing an unnecessary scene, his mother raised him better than that. After all these guys were just doing their jobs.
Seeing no other alternative he huffed with a shrug. "Well since you asked nicely take me your leader."
Tilting his head at the unexpected joke the knight took out pair of handcuffs. "We apologize for this. But for safety and precaution..."
"Eh your just bein' cautious. Honestly I'd be worried if you weren't."
Both knights were surprised at how cooperative this man was being. Given the recent of multiple events that had happened in the last couple of months prior they weren't expecting this. Still it would be wise to still be on guard.
Securing the cuffs around his wrists Dante was gently placed within the rear of the mobile charriot. He didn't know what these questions would be or how he would answer them. His stomach was practically churning with aticipated worry. He could only hope that only hope that he wouldn't be sleeping in a cell at the cities nearest precinct.
"So our mysterious guest has finally arrived has he?" Daryl asked.
Ky nodded. "Mhm. Thankfully he didn't put up any resistance when they found him."
The three kings were hurriedly walking down the hall that lead to the interrogation room. It would seem that Millia's hunch was correct. The man they captured did give off the unknown energy signature that their magiscanners had picked up on. Thanks too the small magibug she planted on him it confirmed that he was the target.
Though it was arguably illegal in how it was done they couldn't afford to let this issue linger on anymore than they already have.
"To think that he was in the most non likely of places an other worldly being would be in." Leo said rubbed his chin at the absurdity of it. "Just shows how much we overlooked on where to search."
"Sometimes you can find the most unlikely of people in the unlikely of places." Ky glanced at Leo with a slight smile. After all it was how he first met Dizzy. A potentially dangerous and powerful creature hiding out in peacefully quiet forest. The juxtaposition of the two situations were hard to not compare.
"I'm just glad that we finally got a hold of him when we did. Worrying about this while keeping the public unaware of everything and your wifes inaguration hasn't been doing wonders for my beauty sleep." Daryl complained as a yawn came out, unintetionally emphasing his point about his lack of proper rest.
The kings had arrived outside of the interrogation room. A knight was standing guard along with Zato and Millia already there waiting for them. The two bowed respectfully in the presence of their superiors.
"Your majesties we're glad you've arrived." The shadow weilder politely greeted.
Leo nodded. "Same. So whats the latest on our new arrival?"
"The only thing I can say sir is that he wasn't combative when he was lead inside. And we also managed to confiscate these." The knight presented a plastic bag that was used for holding evidence. What caught everyones interests were the items inside.
Ky took the bag and thoroughly examined its contents. Two handguns one black and the other silver. While his years with the IPF are long behind him the investigative skills he learned where as sharp as ever. He discovered that the twin firearms lacked any type of magic component for its functioning.
"These are black tech weapons he's carrying." He revealed causing everyone to blink in surprise.
"Well well our otherworldly guest is just full of surprises." Daryl amusedly said.
"If you pointing out that our country is the one of the most established magic infrastructures in the world meaning that it would be impossible for him to be in possession of previous century guns? Then yes I'd be inclined to agree he is."
Millia narrowed her eyes at what she just heard. Her mind running with puzzling questions. Not only on the fact he was weilding non magic lethal weapons but because Venom was with someone who had them being in the district area he swore to protect. She knew he wouldn't be ignorant of the fact that he did given how he expressed that he was cautious of him but since he allowed him to work in his bakery was sign that Venom didn't see him as a threat.
"Hmm this could prove that Dr. Paradigm theory was credible." Leo mumbled to himself catching everyones attention.
"What do you mean my king?" The guard asked.
"Well..." He trailed off, crossing his arms as he frowed with hesitance. "While we don't have any concrete proof to base this theory on at the moment...but Dr. Paradigm believes that this man originated from another world...or another earth entirely."
Everyone blinked at his claim and almost dismissed it but though about it for a second. Strangely as it sounded it did make sense. Many historical records were salvaged after the crusades and it was discovered in the 1950s an American physicist named Hugh Everett a scientific phenomenon known as multiverse theory.
Back it would be easy for anyone to write it off as someone who was to smart for their own sanity. But given the existence of such similar phenomena like the Backyard it would be foolish for them not to believe otherwise. The supporting evidence was sitting in the next room.
"In any case we should concentrate on the interrogation. After all I'm sure he'll answer any questions we have for him." Ky said, getting their focus back at the matter at hand.
The knight opened the door allowing the five entry inside the interrogation room.
"And I'm just sitting their answering the phone and the next minute some biker chick crashes through my front door! Jeez the amount debt I had could barely cover it let me tell ya'. Could you believe it?!"
Boisterous laughter was heard through the one view window as the knights inside couldn't holdt it in. They all looked at each other in confusion. They weren't expecting their captive to gather a crowd and be some form of entertainment. And even though Millia was the first to meet him she thought his casual going mannerisms were all an act so he could blend in easier. But seeing as how he was finally in custody the gig was up. Their was reason for him to be keeping up appearances.
The three kings decided to step inside first as the knights quickly stood to attention stopping their laughter and return to their post. Ky sat down across from the red coated man, placing his belongings on the table.
The half demon kept a steady eye on the three regally dressed blonde men that just just exuded an air of superior authority that was hard to ignore. The short haired one more so than the others.
"Now I'm sure you all have heard this one before but I'll say it anyway." He paused as if for dramatic effect. Widely grinning he gestured towards himself with both thumbs. "I'm innocent."
That got him a variety of reactions. Ky kept his face stoic, Leo's eyebrow cocked upward, and Daryl lips curled upward in at the mans witty remark.
"Don't worry, you aren't here because of any noncommited fellonies." Ky calmly assured. Leaning forward from his spot the knight rested his elbows on the table and brought both his hands up towards his face and laced his fingers together. Ready to adress the reason for why he is here. "With that being said however there is a reason for your
"Our sensors picked up a source of energy." Leo spoke up making Dante glance at the rugged man. "A strange unknown energy source I'd like to add that was somewhere hiding within the country."
"And you just so happened to be the only one who is radiating that same energy signature." Said Daryl, bringing light of the issue to the fore front.
Dante carefully eyed the three men as he tried to calm his nerves knowing that he was caught.
Smirking, the red coated man could only shrug at the predicament he was in. "Looks like you caught me red handed. And since you did mind tellin' me who you guys are?"
"Of course how rude of me." Ky gestured towards himself as well to his fellow kings. "I'm Ky Kiske, this is Leo Whitefang, and Daryl."
"Dante." He introduced. Leaning back in his seat he propped his feat on the table as he got comfortable. "So...whaddya wanna know?"
"He's certainly...quite the character isn't he?" Zato-1 commented as he intently listened in on the interrogation.
Millia lightly hummed in agreement. For the last twenty minutes Dante had explained how he had arrived in this world. A portal suddenly appeared in front of him and his curiosity got the better of him and he stepped inside. One would argue how foolish it would be to step inside an unexplained phenomenon but he quickly joked of how he is usually prone to doing stupid things. He then told them since showing up in Illyria he had been just staying and sleeping in an alleyway at the shopping district. That was when the owner of a bakery offered him temporary employment for paying him back for giving him free food.
It was then Leo brought up the most important question. Why he carried firearms with him. Apparently on his earth he was a mercenary and accepted jobs from whoever that gave him the reasonable amount of money that could pay his bills. He told them that he was on one his jobs when the mysterious portal came and thats how he ended up here.
The former assassin could tell there was more he wasn't telling them. Whether it was necessary information or not she couldn't say. Millia just hoped that it wouldn't negatively effect them along the way.
Seeing as how that they have what they wanted to know the three kings excused themselves and stepped out.
"The nerve of that guy! Who the hell does he think he is?!" Leo exclaimed loudly, his irritation clear on his face as he hotly glared at the one view mirror.
Darly however grinned widely. "I find him to be pretty entertaining. Anyone one that can get you to lose your cool like that is ok in my mind."
"Hmph! Of course you would. Fortunately for me I have the mos apt description for someone like him in my dictionary."
Ky could only sigh and stroke the bridge of his nose at both of the mens antics. "In any case we have a stranded man in our custody who has nowhere to go. What do we do with him?"
"Well since we established that he isn't a threat to anything or anyone we could give him a chance to join our ranks. But I'm sure Leo would object to it."
"Damn right I would!"
Seeing how the three men weren't coming at an unanimous agreement on what they should with Dante Millia started pondering which would be best thing to do in resolving this matter. Closing her eyes she internally debated with herself whether or not this was a wise decision. But seeing as how they were at an impass what other choice was there?
'I'm still searching for new recruits anyway...I just hope I won't regret this later.'
Sighing she spoke as she came to her decision. "Your majesties...I have a suggestion." Everyone turned their attentionto the blonde woman with collective curiosity written on their faces.
Dante head snapped towards the sound of the door opening. He was surprised to see the P.W.A.B director stepping inside the interrogation room.
"Well well isn't this a surprise. Hope you got your moneys worth with those baked pastries.'
Millia calmly sat across from him, crossing her leg over the other. Gently placing her hands on her knee she casually responded. "It usually is from Venom's bakery."
"That's good! Its nice to know that I'm not complete slouch in the kitchen." Dante self praised as he leaned back further in his chair and folded his cuffed hands behind his head. "By the way you might wanna to be a little bit more subtle when planting something on someone."
He showed her his finger which had a small circular green glowing light on it. She kept her features schooled as surprise swept through her. Seeing that there was no point in hiding it anymore she knew it was time to come clean.
Quietly exhaling Millia calmed her nerves as she explained her reasons. "I had to know whether you were our target. Admittedly it wasn't my most thought out plan but I couldn't let the opportunity slip when it was open."
"So you trusted your gut and went through with it anyway huh? Gotta say, that took guts."
"Which leads me to the reason why I'm here in the kings place." Millia abruptly stated. Bringing their conversation to its main point. "I have a proposition for you. If your interested that is."
The son of Sparda arched his eyebrow slightly at the blonde haired woman. It seemmed like proposals were just dropping into his lap as of late. First the owner of a bakery and now a high ranking federal agency official. What someone like like her wanted with someone like him raised many questions. Thankfully the answers wouldn't be hard to get.
"Alright..." Dante apprehensivly conceded, bringing his feet down from the table and erecting his posture a little. Showing that she had his attention. "Lets hear it. Whaddya have for me?"
"I would like for you to join the Post War Administration Bureau."
Dante blinked twice as his brain tried to registered what he just heard. Did he get that right? Was he just offered a chance to become a member of the Illyrian governments intelligence agency? He narrowerd his eyes trying to see if Millia was pulling his leg but her aloof stony expression told him she wasn't joking and patiently awaiting his answer.
From what he had read in the news papers and from word of mouth many people uphold Illyrias government in high regard. From what Dante understood the nation had a very shocking fair way of keeping things stable and peaceful. And if there are those who didn't support any law that was practice anyone can voice out their opinion freely. It was the epitome of a free country.
Of course he doubted it was flawless. The fact that the nature of his arrival of his arrival was kept hidden from the public eye was proof of that. Though he could underand why. From what the kings told him many crisis's occured not only the recent terrorist incident. So he could see why the public wasn't informed at the risk of an unnecessary uproar. It only showed that the wellbeing of the people was always kept in mind.
Now in regards to the P.W.A.B he didn't know what to think. Like everyone he was aware that the bureau agents were former members of a secret organisation called the assasins guild. From what he had learned they were a shadow syndicate who's top priority was taking out their contracted targets for profit. They even managed to manipulate many political figures, the former United States president being one of them. Not to mention engaging in the practice of illegal forbidden magic.
That being said it seems they have reformed for the better. Their assistance in stopping the terrorist incident was proof of that not to mention other criminal activities the've prevented.
Dante hummed in consideration. "Lets say I accept. What would either of us get outta of this if I did?"
"Well I'll have gained a fresh new recruit and you won't be rotting in an Illyrian prison cell." She responded with a casual shrug. Subtly pressuring the man to nudge him slightly into making the choice. "It's your decision. Just make sure its the wise one." Millia said with finality as she gestured to him with her hand.
The room fell silent. Millia could only sit and stare at Dante who was looking at her with a deadpan expression. Though it was clear he was clear mulling over what to do. She was beginning to wonder if he saw through her plan and choose the other option. He snapped her out of her thoughts as he let out a small chuckle and a smirk.
"Well since you put it like that, how do I sign up?"
As the days went on Dante had spent most of it studying the properties of magic in the Illyria castle royal libraries catalogue of text books. Given that that he would be staying in this world for an unsure amout of time learning and understanding how magic work would be beneficial. And since he would be working with the Post War Administration Bureau he needed to learn all he could in order to be a valuable asset to them.
The castles staff dutifully mentored him, teaching the otherworldly man about generating mana. Dante was learning at such a fast rate that he exceeded their expectations. He grasped the fundamentals very well and was forming mana within half a day. Though Dante didn't get around to learning other spells like materielizing artificial objects or elemental magic it was still impressive nonetheless that he managed to learn what he could in a short amount of was also informed that they will be working on ways on getting him back home.
Their researchers...or rather researcher was top of the line given his knowledge on studying parallel dimensions. The half demon was surpised to see that the said researcher was a draconic bird like creature. That said creature being in fact a Gear. One of the very biomutants that nearly exterminated humanity was aiding them in their RD department. Honestly he found that interesting. It showed that the scars of the crusades were mending even in a small way.
All he really had to do was be patient and put his faith in them. Currently he was in the castle training grounds where he was sparring with the Holy Order Kinghts who were the highest their rank. The three kings stood outside the ring along with Millia. She was taking detailed notes and jotting down Dante's combat prowess on her clipboard. Given that she would be in charge of his evaluation she of course needed to judge the level of his martial skills. They watched in astonishment as the white haired man matched and best each and every knight within the courtyard.
He wasn't even breaking a sweat as he took down all of them, his mocking gring never leaving his face. He bobbed, weaved and countered their attacks effortlessly with his own like it was childs were surprised when he made a double edged sword appear out of thin air with just simple flick of his hand. The blade design was something none of the had ever seen before. The surface of it appeared to have some molten rock like substance running along it. Four clawed tips placed at its hilt and what completed its look was the red jewel embeded at the end of the pommel. He quickly explained that their world wasn't the only one with an unlimited source of energy. Though he didn't go into much detail it did make some sense.
Considering that the castles magiscanners were able pick up on the unnatural readings. The three begrudgingly accepted his answer but Millia couldn't shake the feeling that he was hiding something important about himself. Just like before in the interrogation room. Whatever it was all she knew that she had to keep a close eye on him.
Dante looked around him as the knights groaned and moan on the ground. He toothly smirked and hefted his demonic sword over his shoulders. "Not bad boys. Maybe in a couple of years you guys will get a nick on me."
"That sure was something ." A smooth voice pointed out with praise. "I'd say it'll probably take much longer given what you displayed if I do say so myself."
Turning around he saw the four walking upto him. Ky and Millia had unreadable expressions on their faces, Daryl the one who was vocal about what he saw was openly grinning. Leo was the only showing his displeasure as he was looking at Dante with a heavy frown and irritated glare. Upset that none of the knights didn't get a single scratch on him.
"Woah Leo! Tone it down will ya, I wasn't that amazing you know." Dante said cheekily. Making the second kings eye twitch uncontrollably in annoyance.
Leo could only grumble. "Shut up."
Millia sighed and shook her head in exasperation. Was this what she had to deal with while working with this man? She could only imagine the stress inducing headaches that she would be dealing with. She just hoped that Paradigm would find away to send this manchild home as quickly as possible.
"So...what didja think? I get an A or an A+?" Dante jokingly remarked towards Millia.
"You did well, exceptionally in fact." She nodded approvingly ignoring his attempt at humor. While she starting to find him annoying and immature she had to give credit where it was due. "Welcome to the Post War Adminstration Bureau." Both firmly shook hands. Finally settling the matter on this whole thing.
They all felt relieved now knowing there was nothing to worry about with this man. The world could still breath easy seeing as how he really wasn't a threat. Well maybe Leo couldn't but besides that he proved that he wasn't dangerous.
Ky stepped forward, his eyes on his knights who were either slowly helping each other up or rubbing the minor bruises that was delt to them.
"Congratulations Dante! Seeing your skills firsthand has definitely earned you a position in the P.W.A.B. Although..."
Everyone turned their sights on Ky. He was side glancing at the red coated man in a casual manner though many could tell there was something hidden behind it. The air around the area became tense. Millia slightly narrowed her eyes in confusion though Daryl and Leo knew exactly what that look was he giving said. The half demon could see how the blonde haired man was looking at him. His eyes were calm but their was a small hidden trace of intensity to them. He could also see that this hand was on his sword and that his thumb was gently tapping the hilt.
Dante couldn't help but slowly narrow his eyes and sharply smirk at him. His heart was pouding with barely contained excitement as he knew what Ky was doing. The first king of Illyria was sizing him up. "Although...?"
Ky returned the challenging smirk, knowing that Dante was already getting the hint. "I would gladly like to see where your skills would fair against mine."
"Well then, who am I to turn down a humble request from the king himself?" He rhetorically asked. He gestured his hand to the space in front of him. "Step right on up."
Ky did just that. The remaining knights stepped out of the training ring to witness what might be a spectacular duel.
"Your majesty are you sure this is necessary?" Millia quickly interjected. Not seeing the point of any this, seeing as how Dante had already passed his evacuation.
"No it isn't director Rage." He replied while slowly drawing his Thunderseal sword. "But opportunies like these rarely present themselves. Its best I seize it while I still can."
Before she can speak any further Millia was stopped by a heavy a sigh from Leo. "Don't waste your breath Millia. Once he gets that look theres no stopping him." He said crossing his arms and shaking his head in amusement.
Daryl inched his head towards the edge of the training yard. "Well better make sure they have enough room. This should be interesting."
She rubbed her temples at the ridiculousness of this as she followed the two men towards the edge of the training grounds.
Dante and Ky stared each other down evenly. Ky could only narrow his eyes at the red coated man in front of him. His grin was still etched on his face even though they were about to cross swords.
"Before we get to it you mind if I ask you somethin'?" Dante asked catching the blonde knights attention. He nodded in response. "What brought this on?"
"Well..." Ky cooly prompted, rubbing his chin in a thought manner. He tried to think of the proper words for the mans question. "Call it foolish pride on my part. Lets just say that I want to show you that the knights of Illyria aren't the pushovers you believe them to be."
"Ah I get'cha." He nodded in understanding. Twirling his blade Dante then got into a stance. "Lets see if you can't prove me wrong."
Ky gripped the handle of his sword harder, his eyes hardening settle himself into his own battle stance. "I intend to."
Both warriors stood meters from each other as they waited for one of the other to make the first move. The on lookers could only hold their breath at what would occur in this friendly duel. Dante kept a careful eye on the man. Despite his youthful looks he knew that Ky shouldn't be taken lightly. When he first met him he had a feeling that their was more to him than he appeared. And given that he was one of the leaders of the strongest military force in the world cemented that feeling.
Not able to hold himself back any longer Ky charged forward. As he was within distance Ky reared his arm back and pushed it forward as he went for a basic thrusting strike. He wanted to get a feel for his reactions and reflexes. He knew this attack would fail since it was easy to read. He was proven correct once Dante responded by quickly bringing his sword down and shoved his attack aside. The knight wasn't detered as he continued his assault with a horizontal swipe aimed for his head. Dante ducked and countered by sweeping his blade at his exposed feet. Ky leapt upward avoideding it while bringing his left hand to grab hold of the Thunderseal in a double handed grip.
Raising it above his head the Illyrian king allowed gravity to do its work while bringing his sword down in fast downward swipe would land at the top of Dante's head. The half demon used the powerful momentum of his previous swing to skillfully roll forward and out of the way. The edge of the tip of Ky's sword struck the ground hard enough to make a small indent in the concrete that kicked up some stone shards.
Rising to his feet Dante spun around and lashed out with a fast and strong roundhouse kick. Ky's eyes widened as he looked over his shoulder, seeing his opponents boot coming towards his face. Instinctively he put up his arm and held it in a firm block. He grunted once the kick connected, knocked off his feet the blonde knight rolled to his feet just in time to see Dante rushing at him.
He blindly retaliated with a piercing strike in an attempt to stop him but Dante anticipated this. Turning his frame sideways the red coated devil hunter dodged it. Lifting his leg he threw it out and his kick hit Ky square in the sternum. His back hit the ground as skidded across it. He looked up at his opponent who was just looking back at him his sword once again placed on his shoulders along with that grin that he was beginning become accustom with.
'His defense and countering skills are very good. Dante definitely has experience in fighting those who specialize in fast and precise strikes.' Ky thought, asessing the mans combat capabilities.
"You givin' up?!" Dante loudly asked breaking the knight from his thoughts.
Lightly laughing Ky stood up while brushing specs of dirt from his chest. "That's something I still have a hard time learning."
"Heh tell me about! Still don't understand much of it even now."
Both men couldn't help but share a laugh on how they agreed with easch on that. The two swordsman then continued, The Devil Sword Dante and Thunderseal constantly clashing against each other. Sparks flew as both weapons continuously struck one another because due to the heat and friction. Dante was on the defensive while simultaneously striking back trying to expose any vulnerable openings. Ky did the opposite keeping up the pressure while not ever dropping his guard.
However that was when Ky spotted his chance. Dante swung his sword down but it was parried by the knight causing knocking it back hard into its original position over his head. Ky swiftly hit him in the lower side of his right ribs with a knife hand chop blow. The half demon winced at the sharp pain that was dealt to him. He didn't have time to register it however when felt his arm being held and pulled behind his back. Then he felt his calf get kicked from the rear causing him to lightly kneel and he was then tossed over Ky's shoulder.
Dante landed hard on his face though he was grateful he lose any of his teeth. Snapping his head upward he saw Ky still in his poised stance, ready and waiting. He couldn't help but smirk, pretty boy was holding his own pretty well. Hopping off the ground Dante came at him putting more force and raw power into his attacks. Ky was nearly caught off guard but was still holding his ground. Unfortunately he couldn't hold it for long. Dante managed to get in good powerful piercing attack of his own. Though Ky managed block it with the flat surface of his sword by pressing his palm against the other side it still knocked him off his balance. He was pushed back some distances away as he struggles to get back his footing.
The sound of a loud but mild battlecry reached the first kings ears. Eyes widening the first king looked up at the sky and saw Dante coming down at him from the air with his sword highly raised. Ky instinctively blocked and was about deflect the heavy blow but Dante kept him place by pushing his sword down even further with his right hand adding more weight keep them in the blade lock.
"I've never seen anyone put Ky on the defensive like this. And believe me its not easy." Leo muttered as he watched the fight.
"Accept only him of course." Drayl said making the second king to nod in response.
Millia glanced at the two next to her. "And who would that be?"
"Frederick Bulsara of course."
She nodded in understanding before turning her eyes back to Dante and Ky.
The blonde knight brow furrowed as he tried to push him off but it evident he was outclassed in physical strength with the devil hunter. Ky began to grit his teeth as felt the strain on his arms and back as Dante slowly kept pushing himself against him in an attempt to get the man to surrender. Ky tried to stand but sent back down to his knee as the red coated swordsman pressed down even harder. Dante felt victory was within his grasp, a wide grin slowly forming on his face.
However Ky wasn't ready to accept defeat just yet. Focusing his mana into his hand the blonde knight generated a small stream of electricity and swiftly ran it along his blade. Dante hobbled back, flinching from the stings as the current of electric streaks coursed through his body. The first let out a powerful cry as he swung the Thunderseal in a rising upward slash against Dante's demon sword, the force of the strike sent him flying across the field.
Landing on his back the half demon groaned as sluggishly sat up. His eyes were slightly lit with stupefaction when he saw trails of blue lightning coating Ky's sword. Now things were finally getting interesting! Dante rose to his feet, rolling and shaking out his shoulders as a low but audible chuckle came out of his mouth.
"Decided to take kid gloves off eh?" He quipped wistfully at the man.
"Well you weren't giving me much of a choice in the matter." Ky shot back with a casual shrug and an uncharacteristic playful grin on his lips.
"Suppose I wasn't. Lightning magic user huh? Guess I should stop my pullin' punches then to."
Ky's brow raised in confusion but then his other followed suit at what he saw. The flat base of Dante's sword somehow split itself into separate halves revealing a slender red light within the center. Red coated man then slowly swung it in a circular motion around him which caused four swords made completely out of red demonic aura.
Dante pointed his powered up weapon directly at the first king. "Ready to keep this party rollin'?"
"Of course!" Ky exclaimed, barely keeping his excitement in check at how the duel will go.
The two warriors came at each other at the same time. The sharp edges of their respected weapons met once again as the sound of pounding and grinding metal rang through the area. They both strafed, blocked, parried, and struck back. Their amplified weapons made everything even more incredible than before. Dante's swings made his miniture energized swords follow its movements giving Ky small cuts on his body even when avoided what was thrown at him. And everytime Dante gaurded against Ky's assault small singes would appear on him whenever his sword made contact as the electric current would travel up his body.
'He's not as fast and precise as Vergil is but damn its still difficult reading his moves. Its like I am fighting an actual living ightning bolt.' The half demon thought. Though despite that he couldn't help but smile joyously. This blonde pretty boy was actually giving him a good fight that actually making him break a sweat.
The fight raged on neither willing to give each other an opening to capitalize on. Ky couldn't help but admit that he was really having the time of his life. A wide grin that nearly mirrored Dante's was etched on his face. Rarely did he ever get a chance to battle just for the sheer pleasure of it. He was never the type to indulge in his selfish desires but he learned long ago from Sol that ones life can be much simpler when you do so from time to time. He hated to admit that he was right.
Both were reaching their limit, Ky more so than Dante. And the blonde knight knew he needed to finish this now. Leaping backwards to avoid the downward strike from his sword along with four more. Ky quickly placed his foot on top of it. Before the half demon could even think about pulling it back Ky then jumped to Dante's shoulder and then vaulted over it in amazing display of aerial acrobatic twirls. Quickly turning Dante saw Ky reapeatidly running his hand on the Thunderseal like before. Only this time a barrage of lightning like projectile were down on him like a meteor shower.
Dante tried swatting them away only for him to grit his teeth and growl out in pain. Despite that he kept going considering that Ky wasn't letting up. They were now coming faster forcing him to also use his summoned swords to cancel out the other incoming ones.
Ky was getting closer and within Dante's striking range. When Dante was prepared to do just that Ky seized his opportunity. He thrusted his hand forward as a flash of brief bright light shined right into Dantes eyes.
The half demon quickly rubbed his eyes trying to get the distortion out of his vision. Snapping his eyes open Dante could see that wasn't originally where he once was. He suddenly felt something long and sharp lightly tapping at his shoulder from the rear. He glanced behind him to see that the first Illyrian king had managed to win by outsmarting him.
"A fine bout Dante but it seems that I've won this one." Ky said with exhales of heavy breath with a satisfactory smile. Honestly that was one of the best duels he ever had.
His smile then inched lower as he heard Dante chuckle. "Ohoho I wouldn't say that."
"And why wouldn't you?"
Dante silently pointed in the left so Ky can look in that general direction.
Ky did just that. He couldn't help the surprised look on his face when he saw a single red summoned sword was just an inch away from piercing him right between the eyes. He could only shake his head and let out a small laugh.
"I yield!" He announced, sheathing his sword as he did so.
Dante dispelled his blade as he turned and extended his hand towards the blonde haired man which he took. "Not bad pretty boy. Almost had their with that strategy."
"I thought I did but you managed to see through it in time. Your swordplay is really something, dare I say even better than mine. I'm glad you gave me a chance to experience it." He said with the upmost of praises and certainty.
Dante couldn't explain it but for some reason his humble compliment of his skills made his chest swell up with pride. Usually he would just brush off something like that but some how the way he said it made it difficult. Given that he was a governer Ky would had to have an air of charisma about him so it would make sense that he would have a way with words.
Though Dante could tell that he said was fully genuine. No wonder the people of Illyria respect him so much.
"What a show you two!" A jovial smooth voice exclaimed that was no doubt Daryl's
They turned and saw the three walking upto them. The shocked and amazed looks of the knights in the background were also something they took note of.
"You sure do have an entertaining way of making things interesting around here. And I speak for all of us when I say that the castle does need it from time to time." The third king lightly remarked towards the white haired man.
Dante shrugged. "I try."
"All that matters to me is that Ky got a hit on you. Therefore my whole day has yet to be completely ruined." Leo shot at Dante, raising his head and let out a hearty laugh while putting his fists to his hips.
"He sure did a couple of good licks on me. And out of the two of you he's the only one that could."
That very insult stopped third kings laughter then and there, he glared at the smug grin on the other mans face he oh so desperately wanted to punch it off. Thats the second time he got the last word. With that in mind he made a silent vow that he would never get a third.
"Well now, since we have a good idea of what you are capable of Dante. Even more to an unnecessary degree than we probably should have." Millia stated that last part while glancing at Ky who rubbed his neck, giving her a bashful look.
"I consider it an honor to have someone of your impressive calibur to be working with the P.W.A.B." She placed her hand over her chest and bowed. Welcoming him into their fold.
Dante rubbed the back of his head, not sure how to take the womans over dramatic and unneeded way of accepting what was essentially his job application. But who was he to judge right?
"Uh thanks. Looks like we'll be workin' real close then huh boss?"
She crossed her arm and regarded him with a deadpan stare. Dante was starting to think he may have unintentionally offended his employer with his wording. Her just silently gazing was making a feel a little uneasy, like she was trying see through him and find something that she wanted to know.
Millia slightly huffed, closing her eyes and allowed a minute smile to grace her face. "If your job preformence is as good as how you fight then well...we'll see."
Dante was stunned for a split second but quickly shook it off. It seemed that their was more to the blonde woman than he thought. He originally thought that she was just all business and professionalism. It was small sure but it was nice to know that their was a person in there.
An eager smile curled it way to his lips. "Well then...so when do I start?"
Sorry this took a twelve months to update. I was struggling with my other story and the readers had waited a year for me get the next chapter out. Which has also caused me to do the same with this one as well. I'm sorry about that as I'm not the best when it comes to consistent updates. But I'll try my best to be so you guys won't have to wait long.
Also if anyone is wondering if Dante will use any of his other Devil Arms through out the story he won't. I think it would be best to keep to his arsenal simple with him just relying on his three main weapons.
But like always leave and share your positive and negative feedbacks.
