Author's Note in Response to "Ascension of the Peverells" Review:

What do you mean by weak? Alaster hasn't even had one major fight in the story yet. The only semi-major battle he had was with Clarisse. Even then it ended in a draw. Just because I'm not having him take two seconds to beat anybody he comes across doesn't mean he's weak. He is skilled and strong in his own right. And as we go along with the stories of the books you will see that. And also what makes you think that he's a pussy? Just what are you reading that screams that?

Author's Note For Warning:

Also before we go on I will say that this fanfic will technically be a mixture of events that happen in both the books and the current TV show. This is mostly a telling of the books with some moments from the show sprinkled in because I might like the way it's done in the show a little bit better. Also if you haven't watched the show and your reading this chapter, I will say right now that there will be a moment of the show that will be in this chapter and if you're planning the show but haven't yet and you're planning on also a reading this chapter I suggest you go watch the show as its only three episodes so far and then come back to this chapter.

Anyways, let's get on with the chapter.

I packed everything that I'd need. I made sure that I had all of my weapons on me. This is a big quest, I need to make sure I keep track of all my weapons in case one gets destroyed or anything like that. But it's not really that hard to keep track of my weapons, because I'm wearing one out of two of them.

I looked over everything that I'd need: Toothbrush. Check. Toothpaste. Check. Clothes in case I need to change my clothes and you already know the deal with me and my current clothes.

After packing all of my stuff Percy and I went to the Camp Store. The camp store gave us each two hundred dollars in mortal money and twenty golden drachma. Usually the person who is leading the quest would be the one to go to the Camp Store but since this is technically a quest for both of us we decided that we should go together.

Drachmas are coins that each had an image of a Greek god on one side and the image of the Empire State Building on the other side. Drachmas are always used for non-mortal transactions. It's currency for the gods.

Chiron gave Percy, Annabeth and I each a canteen of nectar and a Ziploc bag filled with ambrosia squares, that are only supposed to be used in emergencies.

When it was finally time we waved the campers goodbye and hiked up all the way to Half-Blood Hill where Chiron was waiting for us next to Thalia's tree. Chiron was in his wheelchair and next to him was Argus, the camp's head of security. He has eyes all over his body, but now you could only see eyes on his neck, hands, and face.

"This is Argus," Chiron told Percy. "He will drive you into the city, and, er, well, keep an eye on things."

"Hey!"

We all looked back, Luke was running up the hill carrying a pair of red converse sneakers.

"Glad I caught you," he panted. "Just wanted to say good luck. And I thought…um, maybe you could use these."

Luke handed Percy the sneakers. "Maia!"

Two white bird wings sprouted from the heels, Percy dropped the shoes but they flapped around on the ground until the wings disappeared.

"Awesome!" Grover said.

Luke smiled. "Those served me well when I was on my quest. Gift from Dad. Of course, I don't use them much these days…"

"That's really nice and all, Luke," I said. "But Percy won't be able to use the shoes. He's a son of Poseidon. He's not supposed to be in the air."

"It's cool though," Percy said to me before turning right back to Luke. "Thanks for the gesture."

Luke looked uncomfortable. "Alaster, Percy. Listen, a lot of hopes are riding on the two of you. So just…kill some monsters for me, okay?" Luke switched his gaze to me. "And for Thalia too."

Luke fist bumped my shoulder and shook Percy's hand, he patted Grover on the head and gave Annabeth a hug. It was a bit funny to see the look on Annabeth's face. She looked like she was gonna pass out. Luke then walked away.

"You're hyperventilating," Percy told Annabeth.

"No I'm not," She responded quickly, her face red.

"You let him capture the flag instead of you, didn't you?" Percy raised an eyebrow teasingly.

"Oh…why do I want to go anywhere with you, Percy?"

Annabeth stomped down the hill toward a white SUV that was on the shoulder of the road next to Argus who was jingling his keys.

Percy picked up the flying shoes and turned to Grover. "Hey, Grover. You want a magic item?"

"Me?" The satyr's eyes sparkled.

Percy put the shoes on Grover's fake feet that he was wearing in order to disguise himself.

"Maia!" Grover shouted. He floated above the ground for a bit but then he fell over sideways, the shoes kept bucking him up and down.

"Practice," Chiron called out to him. "You just need practice!"

Grover flew sideways downward toward the SUV.

Percy and Chiron began to talk with one another. I walked closer to Thalia's tree.

I began to whisper. "I'm about to go try and save the world. I've learned some stuff, stuff that's changed how I've been thinking. Stuff about Dad. I've learned what he thinks of me, now. But believe me, when I get that lightning bolt and return it to Olympus I'm going to speak with him. I'm going to make him hear me. He'll hear what I think of him."

I placed my forehead on the bark of the tree for about a minute and took a deep breath in and out. "I love you. I'll see you when I get back."

"Alaster," Percy spoke to me. "It's time to go."

I took a step back, taking in Thalia's tree again before I walked away down the hill and toward the white SUV. Percy wasn't far behind me.

Argus drove us into western Long Island. It's been a long while since I've been outside of camp. Throughout the entire car ride I couldn't help but be on edge. Not just one, but two children of the Big Three are together in the same area. I don't know what the chances are of about five monsters already heading our way but they have to be pretty high. I couldn't stop myself from watching the sky every five minutes either.

Argus dropped us off at Greyhound Station. He unloaded our bags and made sure that we had our bus tickets before he drove off, the eye at the back of his neck staring at us before he left the parking lot. Then it was just the four of us, standing in the rain.

It was pretty boring. Percy, Annabeth, and Grover started playing hacky sack with an apple that Grover had. Meanwhile I was on alert, I felt weird. The prophecy the Oracle spoke of would be in motion now that we're on our own.

Battling a powerful opponent to return what's stolen. Making the wrong decision will leave you broken.

Who is this powerful opponent? When would they be coming? And what wrong decision would lead to me being broken?

Finally, the bus came and we boarded one by one, the four of us sat at the back of the bus. I was fiddling with the chapstick spear in my pocket.

After a little while we pulled up at a gas station.

The bus driver spoke up on the PA system. "Attention everybody, we are making a stop at the gas station. We will resume our travel in a few minutes. If anybody would like to get out, stretch your legs, or buy anything from the gas station you are fully welcomed to."

After the announcement people started getting up and walking out of the bus. I didn't need to go out to the gas station because I had already packed snacks. I rummaged through my bag and…wait…I didn't pack my snacks.

I sighed, grabbed the mortal money and drachma in the bag and stood. "I'm gonna go get some snacks, I forgot to pack some."

"I'll go with you. I'll get some snacks for the rest of us too," Annabeth said, standing up next to me.

"I'll go with you guys," Percy said, starting to get up from his seat.

"No, stay right here," Annabeth told him.

"Why? It smells terrible back here. We're right near the bathroom," Percy said, pointing to the bathroom in which a man had just come out of. My nose wrinkled when I smelt the scent.

"Monsters can't smell you through that, so that's where I want you," Annabeth said

"How come he gets to go?" Percy asks, pointing at me.

"Because I'm not the one who's only trained for two weeks," I told him and walked away. I waited for Annabeth at the entrance of the bus and we walked to the gas station convenience store. Gray clouds blocked out the sun as the rain fell heavily. Once we were in we separated from each other.

I went around the store and got whatever I could: Chocolate Oreos, chips, Mike and Ikes, Fruit Snacks, Fruit Roll Ups, Rice Krispies, a sandwich, and even two small cases that had one croissant in each one. When I gathered all of the stuff I wanted to buy in my hands that's when I noticed…an old lady was watching me.

The old lady wore a crumpled olive green dress, lace gloves, and a shapeless green knit-hat that fell slightly over her face; she also carried a big paisley purse.

"Can I help you ma'am?" I asked her. She didn't respond. I walked away, however, I saw her out of the corner of my eye following me. I met up with Annabeth at the counter to pay for everything. We paid and then I whispered to her. "That old lady in the green dress is following me."

Annabeth whispered back. "Same, but the one following me is wearing orange."

We both looked, standing behind us was an old lady wearing the same thing as the other old lady, except that the one behind us was wearing an orange dress and an orange knit-hat. The one wearing green was at the far side of the counter. The cashier gave us a bag with each of our stuff in it. Then we both sprinted out the door.

"So what are the chances that those are monsters?" I asked her as we rushed over to the bus.

"I'd say about ninety-nine percent," Annabeth said/

"Ah, yes. So maybe the other one percent is that they're just weird old ladies who just like looking at kids because their own kids won't call them," I said as we boarded the bus. As we ran over to Percy and Grover at the back of the bus I stopped and looked back. And just as I thought there was another old lady sitting at a chair. She looked exactly like the other ones except that she had a velvet dress and a velvet knit-hat. Three old ladies, in the same place, acting weird. Who look exactly the same…the Kindly Ones! All three are here! I ran over to the back of the bus. "We need to leave now, all three Kindly Ones are here."

Grover's eyes widened in fear. "All three!?"

"Guys," Percy pointed. I looked back and standing in the aisle were the three old ladies, with the one in the velvet dress standing front and center. One second they looked like regular old ladies, the next second they had leathery bat wings on their backs, yellow fangs in their mouth, and talons and claws that were razor sharp. They were also now covered in scales as dark as coal.

I grabbed my chapstick and flicked the cap off and out expanded my spear. I pointed it straight at them. "Don't come any closer! I'm warning you! Stay back or I'm sending you back to Hades in golden dust!"

"Where is it, half-bloods?" The velvet-dressed one said. "Where is it!?"

All three flew at us. I charged and tackled the green one down to the floor of the bus.

When we got back up we began our fight. I slashed her with my spear on her cheek, she hissed and clawed at me but I was able to dodge. The area made it hard to maneuver around though, the bus is seriously cramped. I slashed at her, I missed, slashed again, missed again. I thrusted my spear, she dodged and grabbed it. She grabbed me by my throat and then-

CRASH!

She flew through the left wall of the bus and pinned me down to the ground. She bared her fangs. I punched her across the face and then grabbed her face with my palm. Only a second later her face was being fried by my electricity powers. She shrieked and let go. I kicked her back and got onto my feet.

"You want some more? Come at me!" I yelled. She hissed. I charged with my spear and she flew straight at me. When I thrusted my spear at her head she ducked below and clawed at my leg. I cried out before I was sent flying through the air when she whacked me with her tail. I lost the grip on my spear and it went flying out of my hand. When I got back up to get it the Fury had it in her hands. She threw it to the side.

"Go fetch, son of Zeus," She said. "If you were half as brave as you were back then, maybe you could have saved your sister from perishing."

I gritted my teeth as she grinned, showing off her fangs again. But I did have something else. "Did you think that was my only weapon?"

Her grin fell.

I took out my black right earring and in my hands it glowed and in the next second a sword was in my hand. The handle of the sword was sheathed in black leather, the hilt of it was in the shape of a U, in the middle of the hilt was an image of Zeus' face, the pommel of the hilt is circular and flat facing downward. The blade was about three feet and was made out of celestial bronze. There was a small word inscribed on the blade in Greek, Íroas, which translates to Hero.

I then pressed down on the center of my bronze ring and Aegis appeared on my left arm.

We charged at each other through the rain. She clawed at me, but I blocked the attack with my shield. She took off high into the air. Flames suddenly flared in her hand until a whip appeared. She flew at me, before we clashed I held Aegis in front of me, she shrank back a bit. I quickly slashed her, she growled and cracked her whip at me.

I dodged. She kept cracking at me again and again until finally she got me. The whip cracked me on the left side of my chin. I growled from the pain but I continued on. She took to the air again, I ran after her, looked down, and blew a strong wind out of my mouth, sending me into the air.

She cracked her whip at me as I flew over her. I blocked it with Aegis and as I came down-

SLICE!

I sliced off part of her tail.

She shrieked in pain. I fell to the ground and landed on my feet, the tail piece fell right next to me. She looked straight at me and unleashed a roar of pure fury. She flew at me and I charged at her. She clawed at me but I dodged to the right and once I did I slashed her in the eye. She shrieked again and covered her eye. As soon as she looked back, it was over.

SLASH!

I slashed right through her body, her body turned into golden dust as Hero passed through her.

Hero turned back into an earring which I put back into my ear before getting my spear which had turned back into chapstick again. I took off the cap and it turned into a spear again and I headed back to the bus. As soon as I got on I saw Percy, Annabeth, and Grover running to get off.

Annabeth turned back. "Alaster get out now!"

I felt a tingle go down my spine and in that moment I knew what to do. I dove out of the hole in the bus just in time-

BOOOOOM!

A lightning bolt from the sky struck the bus and blew it up completely. I heard screams from the other side, no doubt from the passengers who I hope were all off the bus when it blew up. I put the cap back on my spear and it turned into chapstick again. Aegis turned back into a bronze ring.

From around the fire and smoke from the lightning bolt came Percy, Annabeth, and Grover. However from the ruins of the bus came an angry wail.

"Run!" Annabeth said. "She's calling for reinforcements! We have to get out of here!"

The four of us ran into the dark forest in front of us, and we did not look back. We haven't even been on this quest for two hours and it's already this hectic. This really isn't like my last quest, not in the slightest.
