CAMILLE IGAWA- Wangari Kariuki
I should have known what would happen after I had Kamau. I told myself I wouldn't let it color my performance, but I'd only been fooling myself. Even before I lost Kamau I felt a pang every time I took someone else's child from them. After going through that myself, I couldn't see it as anything but what it was. This was murder and there was no changing that.
Nassor Doyle- District Nine mentor
It was devastating to watch the following grow up around Camille. People were saying she was something entirely different. She was the one with the new ideas and new approach that would end our dismal record. Every time I went out I saw kids with skull necklaces and black lace skirts. So many of them hadn't wanted to see that no matter what she did, this was nearly inevitable. People can be so fickle. At the start of the Games everyone had thought Jeanie or Hosanna had what it took. Then Todd was the star of the show. Others, like Vulpes or Declan, had never had a following at all.
District Nine
The criminal underworld breathed a sigh of relief that they'd avoided the war that would have sprung up had Vulpes come home. The Capitol breathed a sigh of relief that Jeanie and Hosanna hadn't won. When Camille died, the District let out a long-held breath.

The computer was flashing. I usually had to pull up a page- if I didn't, there was just an empty desk. Today there was a flashing white exclamation mark on the desk. When I looked over at it, it shifted to words.
Final six! Tap here for interview!
Since when do we do final six interviews? And since when are we involved? All the same, I tapped the blinking words.
"Good mor-!" Caesar's face winked into view.
"Shh!" I hissed, raising a finger to my lips and glancing at the door. Were they trying to get me killed?
Caesar's eyes crinkled in amusement. "Don't worry. We've temporarily sealed the doors and activated sound dampeners. You're safe to participate in this very special interview for a very special Games!"
Oh, I get it. Despite my little ploy, there hadn't been any deaths since Camille's a day ago. The Capitol was getting bored. I guess I was kinda telling the truth after all. They just went with this instead of killing some of us.
"Oh, sorry," I said, just in case I'd offended Caesar.
"No problem," he said. "But tell us, what's it like being in the final six?"
"I wasn't really sure I'd get this far, to be honest." It sounded like a humble admission, or maybe even that I would give too much away. In reality, as soon as I heard "interview", I shifted back into reporter mode. I may have been in news reporting and not PR, but I dealt with PR people all the time. I'd learned a few things about how to put my best foot forward.
Wangari Kariuki- Res D2F
It surprised me how much emotion it stirred up to be talking to someone again. We'd been in here for more than a month. All that time the outside world seemed to be erased. Seeing Caesar on the screen, talking directly to me, was my first reminder in a long time that there really were people out there.
"What's your estimation for your odds? Are you getting out of here?" Caesar asked.
I gathered my thoughts. "There's a lot I can't predict. There have been so many twists and turns in these Games. In the hospital setting, I think any of us could fall over dead from some sickness at any moment. But I've made it this far. Tuesday's the only other Career left, so that's encouraging. I've cleared out the entire second flood so there's not much room to hide. Not that I'm counting the others out. They outlasted a lot of us."
Caesar made some generic remarks I ignored. I was too busy looking at the room around him. He was sitting in a cushioned chair on a stage. He wasn't afraid someone would come kill him. His clothes were clean and his hair was brushed. I'd forgotten life could be like that.
The next question was like a bucket of ice water. "What's something you want to say to the people of Panem?"
I didn't need to gather my thoughts. "Don't let your children volunteer. It's not worth it. It's not even close. Please, everyone, don't let your children volunteer. It is the worst pain you could ever feel."
Walcott Patel- No Way Down D3F
"Clearly you have quite a rivalry going on with Shinju."
"Of course! She's a monster!"
"Do you think there's any hope for someone like her?"
"No."
"What do you say to the people who say you're crazy?"
"There are people out there who say I'm crazy? You all saw it! She's literally a vampire! Like right on the screen!"
"Mightn't it just be some unfortunate illness?"
"Illnesses don't make people grow fangs. People just don't grow teeth after they're adults. Have you ever seen that?"
"I've never seen a vampire either."
"You have too."
"What else is interesting about the arena?"
"There's a cool garden. I would have gone out but I'm afraid Tuesday or Wangari might have staked it out."
"Where do you go to see nature in Three?"
"There's this old lady in my neighborhood with a garden on her roof. She's cool. How do you all see Shinju? Vampires don't show up on film. Is it because you don't use actual film anymore?"
Shinju Matsushita- Heart of Darkness D3M
Just what I needed. Everyone in Panem gawking at me and asking prying questions. The last thing I wanted, the last thing in the entire world, was for people to look at me.
"I have to start with the obvious. What's it like being something of a vampire?"
"I suppose you think I'll say it sucks," I said bitterly. "You want to know what it's like? It's like burning in hell."
Caesar's face moved just a little. Maybe it was wishful thinking, but I thought he looked sorry. He shuffled the cards in his lap, subtly telling me he had pre-written guidelines for the interview. "What does blood taste like?"
Bite your tongue, dumbass, I didn't say. "Still the same. Just kind of like pennies."
"Is there anything you'd like to say to Panem?" Caesar asked.
"Actually, there's something I'd like to say to someone in particular." I didn't hold out much hope, but I'd come to see my idea of impossible didn't always prove true. "Is Lyte around?"
Caesar let his smile fall. "I'm sorry. We're not permitted to include guest interviewers."
I'd known he would say it, but the tears still welled up. I looked at Caesar, but as a person, not as an interviewer. "Could you tell him I didn't want this? Please tell him I don't want this."

"How is it different for you, being a deaf Tribute?" Caesar asked.
I don't know. I've never not been deaf, I replied.
"Is it strange having a woman as your interpreter?" Caesar asked.
How the heck would I know? I smiled as I replied.
Caesar coughed to cover a laugh. He abandoned the cue cards, clearly deciding to go rogue"It's a really neat gadget you've got there. Are you going to get another one if you win?"
I hope they let me keep this one. I probably blushed a little as I anticipated my assistant translating what I was about to say. I like my assistant. I was hoping maybe she'd stay on with me.
"And what do you think of that?" Caesar was clearly addressing my assistant. I looked down at my watch, hoping she'd sign along with speaking.
I'll have to see if I'm allowed to, but if so, I'd like that.
Maxson Deloria- Swing Vote D6M
"So, you're the last man standing in your alliance," Caesar said. "How has that been?"
Don't make a joke about Gaius not standing in a long time don't make a joke about Gaius not standing in a long time "I didn't see it coming, honestly. I thought I might win but I definitely didn't think it would happen like this."
"You're still going strong, though," Caesar said.
Am I, though? I suspected the stress and sleep deprivation were getting to me. As amazing as it was to be speaking to someone outside the Games, it was hard to focus on Caesar's questions. I didn't like the virtual format, either. It was making me a little sick to my stomach.
"Your latest plan could potentially wipe out all the other Tributes, maybe in the next day or two," Caesar said. "Do you think it will work?"
"I hope so," I said. "I just really want to get out of here."
I didn't know where to go next so I did some unconventional interviews to fill a chapter. I also wanted some downtime between big events so here's an excuse for why nothing happened that day.
BIG NEWS! For everyone who's excited about the second Chaos Reigns collab, the first one is already in progress! It's on Fiona11303's account under "Everything Everywhere All At Once"
