July 2018:
Satoru and Megumi have gotten Sukuna's vessel Itadori settled in finally I think. So did Kugisaki. They picked her up not too long ago and Satoru is about to take them out on their first mission. He promised me Megumi wouldn't be working today though, it's more of a test for Kugisaki.
I go to meet the kids with Satoru in the courtyard and see them off. No matter how small the fight will be, I will always do this. I know anything can change at any point, and so I want to make sure I see them before they go.
Satoru and I walk hand in hand. My stomach is huge now. I can't see my feet. They feel swollen though. And I'm pretty sure I've woken Satoru up at least four times this week to bring me something from the kitchen to eat in the middle of the night. He says he doesn't mind but I still feel bad.
When we get to the meeting spot, Kugisaki and Itadori are sitting there giving Megumi a hard time. I smirk and chuckle to myself. This is good for him. He needed friends his age.
"What are you laughing about?" Satoru says looking over at me.
I smirk, "nothing it's just, I think Itadori and Kugisaki are good for Megumi."
He smiles and looks back at them as we walk, "yeah, me too."
Kugisaki and Itadori looks over to us and their jaws drop. This is the first time i've met either of them officially.
"Sensei! You didn't tell us you had a wife!" Kugisaki says.
"Or a baby!" Itadori says.
He chuckles, "I do. Meet Naomi Gojo. She is my beautiful wife and mother of my son. Give her respect, she's your Sensei too, just taking time off for the baby."
"Wow! It's nice to meet you Sensei, uh... Gojo?!" Itadori says bowing confused on what to call me.
I slightly bow to him and chuckle, "Just call me Naomi, and it's nice to meet you too. I look forward to teaching you three, well, as soon as the baby's born."
"So, enough with the formalities. Are you three ready to head out?" Satoru asks.
"Yes! Where are we going?" Itadori asks excitedly. I chuckle at his innocence.
"We're going to Tokyo!" Satoru announces.
"Tokyo! No way!" Itadori says.
"Oh my god, I'm actually going to Tokyo! Where should we go first?" Kugisaki asks.
"Obviously Chinatown." Itadori say and that sends Kugisaki into an outrage.
They argue for a minute about where to go before Satoru steps in.
"Nope, you're both wrong. We're going to Roppongi!" Satoru announces.
"Ro-" Itadori starts.
"Pon-" Kugisaki continues.
"Gi?!" They both finish.
I chuckle, "I wish I could come with you guys. I haven't been on a mission in forever."
"Maybe you could!" Itadori says excitedly.
He kneels to the ground in front of Satoru and bows his head, "Sensei Gojo, may other Sensei Gojo please come?"
He raises a brow and looks to me, "no."
"Awe what? Why?" Itadori says looking up at him.
"She's Gojo's pregnant wife idiot. Why would it be okay for her to come?" Megumi says rolling his eyes.
"Uh…. Actually i'm not sure." Itadori says thinking about it.
"Ugh! Moron! The Gojo clan is one of the most powerful clans ever, and Sensei Gojo being the most powerful sorcerer alive. Everyone knows that." Kugisaki says annoyed.
"Not to mention Naomi is the last of the Suzuki clan too." Megumi adds.
"So? What does that mean?" He asks still confused.
"It means Naomi and my son will be targeted." Satoru says seriously, "we can't run that risk."
I sigh in disappointment.
"But, maybe just this one time." Satoru says giving in.
"Awesome! Two of the most powerful sorcerers ever taking us to Roppongi!" Itadori says.
I smile, "really Satoru? Are you sure?"
He smirks and turns to me grabbing my hands, "I'm sure. I'll be there to protect you both. Nothing will ever hurt either of you."
"Awe!" Itadori and Kugisaki say in unison.
Megumi just rolls his eyes and looks disgusted at our affection as always.
"Well, let's go then. To Roppongi!" Satoru announces.
———
"What the.." Itadori says confused.
"Hey, this is just an abandoned building!" Kugisaki says, "I should have known."
"Yup, and you two are going to exorcize the curse inside!" Satoru says enthusiastically.
"Fine. Try to keep up Itadori." Kugisaki says.
I smirk at her confidence. She doesn't let the boys have an inch.
"But I don't know how to do that really." Itadori says.
"Don't worry young student! I have just the thing." Satoru says pulling Maki's cursed knife Slaughter Demon out.
I suck air through my teeth, "better not lose that." I say cringing thinking of the hell Maki will give both Satoru and Itadori if they do.
"Whoa! So cool!" Itadori says admiring the blade.
"This is Slaughter Demon. It's a cursed tool you can use for now to exorcize the curse. Use it wisely." Satoru instructs him.
"Wow, thank you Sensei! I won't let you down!" He says as he follows Kugisaki to the building's entrance.
"Itadori." I say before they disappear.
"Yes Sensei Gojo?" He says.
"It's just Naomi. And just, don't let Sukuna out." I tell him cautiously.
"Yes, while this may be advantagious in a fight, this won't be any good to any civilians within Sukuna's grasp." Satoru says.
Itadori throws a thumbs up at us and smiles, "I won't, I promise!"
They both disappear in the building and I sigh worriedly.
"They'll be fine. You always worry too much." Satoru says putting a hand on my thigh.
"I can go too." Megumi says trying to stand up.
"No, you stay here." I tell him seriously.
"Yeah, don't push yourself too much. Besides, this is more of a test for Kugisaki to see if she's crazy enough to do this kind of job." Satoru says.
"What about Itadori?" Megumi asks.
"Well he ate a finger, so I'd say he's crazy enough." I say jokingly.
Satoru laughs, "yeah, he fights to save people no matter what happens to him. We already know he's capable. But I want to see how she does."
Just then, cursed spirit leaps out of the building and is falling towards us.
"I'll get it." Megumi says.
"Hold on. Give it a second." Satoru says smirking.
The cursed spirit doesn't get very far before it screams in pain and is vaporized. She did it. She exorcized it.
"Yup, she's crazy." Satoru says and I smirk and roll my eyes.
Itadori and Kugisaki walk out confidently and a little boy walks out behind them. They saved him. He looks terrified, but he didn't die. That's a success.
I walk up to the boy as quick as I can at six months pregnant and kneel down in front of him, "hey little man. You okay?" I ask him.
"Yeah, these people saved me." He says pointing his little hand at Kugisaki and Itadori.
"That was very brave of them. And it was very brave of you to stay strong through all that." I say giving the boy a hug. He hugs me back tightly and I notice Satoru kneeling down beside me and looking at us with his blindfolded eyes compassionately.
"Ready to go home bud?" He asks rubbing the boy's back with his hand and the boy lets go of me and nods.
"I want my mommy." He says.
Satoru sighs and picks the boy up carrying him as we walk.
"Then let's go. Just show me where yeah?" He tells him.
We walk the boy home leaving the kids to debate dinner while we take him home. Last I heard Itadori and Kugisaki were arguing about what type of sushi was better as Megumi scrolled on his phone uniterested.
We get to the boy's house and Satoru puts him down. He runs off looking releived and excited to be home. Before he goes inside though, he turns to us and waves.
"Thanks again!" He tells us.
We wave back to him and we turn to go back to our group. I'm happy we were able to get him home safely. I wish there was a way we could help him forget this ever happened, to spare him the nightmares. But we can't. That's why I do this though. Maybe one day, this will never happen to another child ever again. It's a pipe dream I know, but it's what drives me.
We get back to the group and the three of them are sitting on some steps looking bored. Satoru waves at them smiling and so do I.
"Hey! We got the boy home safe. How about some food?" He says.
"Yes please!" Itadori says.
"Oooh, let's get sushi!" Kugisaki suggests.
"Or a huge juicy steak!" Itadori adds.
"Megoomi?" Satoru says to Megumi saying his name incorrectly to bug him.
Megumi told him months ago he wouldn't answer to it though.
"Alright, whatever. C'mon, let's eat!" Satoru says.
We walk along the sidewalk and I listen to Itadori talk for a minute, thinking about how similar he can be to Satoru sometimes. He can be so happy go lucky, and the more I listen to him the more I grow to like him. He'll make a great friend for Megumi I think. He needs more friends like him. I just hope his spirit doesn't get broken over time. The chances are high that it will. This profession breaks a lot of people. But I just hope he can endure through it.
"Hey, what's wrong Megumi?" Itadori asks.
Megumi doesn't answer.
"He's pouting because he didn't get to fight." Satoru says smugly.
"Awe poor widdle baby." Kugisaki says mockingly.
Megumi groans in frustration, "whatever."
We all laugh and head to dinner. I think we have a good group this year. They'll do just fine, and even better, they'll learn from each other and have each others backs. It reminds me of Satoru, Suguru, Shoko and I when we were younger. Hurt runs through my body thinking of how it ended, and I promise myself I won't let that happen to them. I can't.
Satoru gabs my hand and kisses it, holding it as we walk. He know's I'm in my head, he can see it with his six eyes. I take a breath and slow my heart rate. He brings me back to earth once again. I never know how he can do that, but i'll always be thankful for him. My rock, my husband, the absolute love of my life.
Besides, no one would dare to mess with the worlds most powerful sorcerer, right?
