Chapter 39: The Eighth Tournament: Part 2

Flashback:

"Jin Kazama... Any attempt to combat that devil shall only end in your defeat. Do as Zafina bids of you, Seek out your roots." Claudio said telling him to go as Lars and the others convincing him the same way.

"Jin, there is something only you can accomplish."

"You aren't alone anymore. You can pass the baton to us from time to time, you know." Lee said calmly to his adopted nephew that he is no longer alone. As the rest of the fighters have agreed to let Jin go which he calmly states to everyone.

"...Got it. I leave the rest to you."

Jin gives Lee a pat on his right hand and responds with his trademark "Excellent" catchphrase and Xiaoyu convinces him.

"Jin, let's go..."

With this Jin decided to move away with Xiaoyu, Panda, Asuka and Lili to get through the airport while Lars and the others are bracing themselves to battle Kazuya in his true devil form as he thought.

This hope you've entrusted to me... I'll make it mean something. I swear!

"Everyone did their best to fight Kazuya in his true devil form while I was accompanied by Xiaoyu, Panda, Lili and Asuka by getting through the airport in order for us to get through the Rochefort's family private jet. While I was away, I sensed that they are completely outmatched and Reina had tried battling it first so that he would demonstrate his power that combines with Azazel's." Jin narrates to Rhima about the entire incident at the coliseum and Reina's battle with True Devil Kazuya.

True Devil Kazuya stomps to form a massive crystals to block Reina away, seemingly wants to fight her on purpose while having his arm crossed.

"There's no where left to run. You're going to regret this!"

"Turns out this way works better for me!" Reina stated and she fought him valiantly. She noticed that True Devil Kazuya also has Azazel's powers which she questions him after knocking him with her Wind God Fist. "Is that the entirety of Azazel's power?"

"Is that Mishima-Style?" True Devil Kazuya replied while recognizing her moves and finally tells her that it never work on him. "In any case, it doesn't work on me!"

He unleashes a powerful projectile on Reina and she felt his devil power as she had thought.

Yes, this is the power... I hope I can make it...

"Hmph... Still you remain unbroken." True Devil Kazuya taunts Reina for being unbroken which she replies.

"I'm nothing if not tough."

Their fight continues as Reina demonstrates her superiority of her moves including her Mishima-Style ones. But True Devil Kazuya had already fed up with her whim.

"I'm getting tired of this." True Devil Kazuya unleashes the crystals to ensnare her and taunts her evilly. "You'll regret standing before me!"

The crystals he had formed blasts Reina with multiple lasers and knocks her with Devil Twister followed by knocking her into the ground which was powerful enough for her to get defeated. Reina was frustrated since he beats her in full power due to his abilities as a devil.

"Still not enough, from the looks of it."

"It's time to end this!" True Devil Kazuya unleashes his Devil Blaster on Reina which was whited out.

It reveals that she was saved by Claudio using his Sirius-Style Exorcism Sorcery which impresses Victor for his efforts and all this time is to trap him down with his exorcism binding spell.

"Sink into the eternal darkness, joined only by the stain of your sins!" Claudio executes a powerful energy arrow as Victor recognizes what it is.

"That's the Spear of Kephalos!"

"Begone, evil star!" Claudio shoots the arrow right through him but True Devil Kazuya is able to break free from his trap making his energy arrow shot missed. His powers also caused him to get weakened.

"Pretty clever for a mere human!" True Devil Kazuya tries to unleash his Devil Blaster on Claudio who is now weakened.

Claudio remembers his conversation with Xiaoyu and Zafina in which he was trying to atone for the misdeeds he had previously done to her. And now he decided to sacrifice himself.

"And yet, I have no intention of attaining my goals through sacrifice." Claudio finally uses the forbidden spell which was enough to control the Spear of Kephalos.

"Begone!"

"The rest is up to you, Jin Kazama." Claudio was soon blasted off by the Devil Blaster and the spear manages to strike him from behind

Within's Claudio's noble sacrifice, it manages to strike on True Devil Kazuya's left shoulder which allows Azazel to control him briefly only for True Devil Kazuya tries to hold it off for a time and soon flies away in retreat. Victor also stated about his noble sacrifice to spare more time to take on another battle with him and G Corporation.

Flashback over:

Rhima cries remorsefully after learning of Claudio's noble sacrifice and Jin comforts her.

"Don't cry, Rhima-san... there's nothing you can do about it."

"He... He taught me how to control of my powers while I was in Duomo di Sirio. And I can't believe that he sacrificed himself this whole time. It's like I was speaking to ghosts just like my dad was." Rhima whimpered sadly.

"He's not a ghost, I already sensed his presence which is why he is able to command the Sirius Marksmen to rescue you." Jin said sadly to her and sighs. "...I lost to him in the fight when he knows that you were buying time to make an escape to avoid me. In fact, that he barely survived from the laser blast caused by Kazuya's true devil form."

"How noble of him to take that high risk." Rhima complimented about Claudio's actions as she dried her tears and Jin knew something was off to see them both.

"I think they were present because they really need of your moral support and sensing that you were the one who was chosen to purge the evil, just like me."

"..."

"Rhima-san... you don't need to get jealous of me. Xiao and I we had talked privately as soon as we arrived at my home island at Yakushima. This is where we spoke each other privately for the first time and we talked about between our dreams. If Xiaoyu's dream was to have an amusement park, my dream however is... to guard our family island from any forms of evil and danger. Much like how my mother would even guard this place because she dislikes city life." Jin finally opens up to Rhima about how he and Xiaoyu had talk privately when they arrived on his home island and he continued to explain it to her clearly. "We spar together and Xiaoyu knows that I was strong until I heard the Kazama lullaby that lead me to get inside the shrine and collapsed and I told her that I promise that I will be back before I ended up losing unconscious."

"I've never seen your home island is filled with mystic powers within the force of nature. That means... you're gonna purge the evil within you, isn't it?"

"Yeah... I was..." Jin answered confirming about him to purge the evil within him.

"So what happens to Lars and the others then...?"

"Both Yggdrasil and UN are united to battle most of G Corporation soldiers including some fighters who sided with them along with JACK-7's and the UN even enlisted the other fighters of the tournament including Hwoarang in order to take them down. When Kazuya in his true devil form came back to attack and kills everybody and injures Reina with his Devil Blasters, he was stirred up to kill me after sensing my presence which is why both Xiaoyu and Lars are doing their best to protect me because G Corporation had already started to invade on my home island in Yakushima." Jin explained to Rhima about the war games between the united team of Yggdrasil and UN against G Corporation forces and their invasion to the Yakushima island and finally tells Rhima about how he had fought his devil side. "Meanwhile, I was in another dimension and I heard my mother's voice. While I was still down and both are buying some time to wake me up, I ended up in a different dimension and this is how I faced my devil side."

"!"

Jin remembers about how he had faced his devil side while he was remained unconscious as he states to Rhima about this.

"It was the first time we confronted each other face to face just because I was his main human vessel who likes to control me and my mind. That battle is between me and me alone..."

Flashback:

A Kazama lullaby can be heard and Jin sees the entire surroundings. He clutches his head and to see his mother Jun who is laying unconscious.

"Mother!" Jin tries to catch up to his mother, but disappears until an evil laugh can be heard. Jin sensed someone presence and being taunted by his devil side which is Devil Jin.

"You couldn't protect your mother. All because you are powerless. Those without power lose everything. Just how many precious things have slipped through your fingers up until now?"

Jin remembers within his subconscious when his devil side attempts to join forces with him but he refused and he recognized his devil side.

"You're from back then?"

"You need power. Steep your very being in anger and hatred... Walk a path dedicated solely to vengeance. That vessel... Surrender it to me."

Devil Jin attempts to control his main human host but Jin is able to break free, forcing him to fight his devil side. It was an equal fight between the two men and Jin manages to defeat his devil side for the time being.

"I have to thank you, you know."

Devil Jin turns into a black smoke that takes him to the other dimension and this time it was his throne room where he was the previous head of the Zaibatsu at the time, he evilly continues to taunt his main human host.

"Your arrogance engulfed the world in war, ravaged it. Everywhere you go, anger and hatred follow. How are you any different with Kazuya Mishima?"

Jin remembers when he made a global war just to awakened Azazel's physical form by filling with negative energy and his devil side taunts him again.

"You must live with your sins. You will only find atonement through solitude."

"The awareness of my sins and my duty gave me the will to move forward. And yet... Atonement won't come from fighting on my own." Jin calmly stated to his devil side about his own sins and both men continued to their ravaged fight. Jin is able to overcome his devil side yet again by defeating him the second time and he stated to himself. "I'll live on, together with my sins."

Jin eventually transported into another dimension yet again when his devil side dissolves into a black smoke. He walks in the deserted place and finally meets up himself whose eyes were gold.

"It looks like you've faced yourself, and overcome your past."

"You're right. We've been at the mercy of our anger, and our hatred."

"Precisely, shouldering that sin and duty have made us strong."

"All of this has led me to become the man I am today."

"And to your future self."

"I've come here to accept it all and take ownership of my past."

"And when I leave here, it'll be to welcome a better tomorrow."

"I won't reject you-reject myself any longer. I need you to break them...these chains that bind me."

"Yeah."

Jin was binded in red chains so that his devil side had decided to break it.

"Now is the time to break these chains and move forward. This will end it."

After utilizes the Rage Art from his devil side using his Devil Dimension: Tainted Chains, Jin was freed from the red chains which was now broken and he finally tells him.

"The chains that bound you are no more. What is it you truly desire?"

"My desire..." Jin looked on his right fist, remembering the voices of his friends and allies and soon states. "I want to protect those important to me, even if it costs me my life. Toward that end. I need your strength. Come, Devil! Let's fight together once more!"

"You need not even ask. Never shall I deny you. If that is your wish, then I accept it wholeheartedly." Devil Jin gives his power to his human side and Jin realizes that it was him who had protected him.

"You're always been protecting me, haven't you? You have my thanks, and my apologies." Jin sees the light while looking at the sky and states. "Take a look. This time, I'll be the one to protect them all."

Jin transforms into his devil side and his feathered wings are now white and black and finally takes flight.

Flashback over:

Rhima was surprised when Jin tells her of his experience he had went through and now he is able to control his devil powers.

"My gosh... you really did it. To overcome your past and your own sins and letting your devil side to take side with you to give his strength to you."

"Yeah... And I woke up looking like that to save both Lars and Xiaoyu from Kazuya in his true devil form." Jin said calmly as he looked on his right hand. "I always keeping my promise to Xiaoyu that I will be back and I will be the one to protect everyone."

Rhima finally understands him more after realizing his resolve to protect everyone in his world and Jin tells her again.

"When Lars did his best to guard me when Kazuya attempts to kill him in his true devil form with his Devil Blaster. But I managed to save him on time. He was glad that I'm back and I apologized to them. Xiaoyu was glad to see me and she was no longer afraid of me after seeing me in my devil form at my control and she told me not to get myself killed. Kazuya and I we both fought in an aerial battle in our devil forms and I managed to overcome him and I stated that my devil powers are no longer my curse and I used this to protect my friends. But when Kazuya attempts to destroy the whole island, I tried my best to stop that dark projectile he had summoned and I heard my mother's voice, telling me not to give up."

"Mrs. Kazama..."

"My mother was alive and she appears as an apparition... she knew I was always at the second and she keeps telling me that a Kazama's power that fosters life and cleanses evil. That energy ki she gave me, that transformed me into a different form that you've never seen it before." Jin said calmly to her and he comes closer to her and takes both of her hands. "Rhima-san... close your eyes. Since you also had the same power as my mother's, you will see me in a different form."

Rhima closes her eyes as both of their energy kis are released in flashes of light. Meanwhile, Lee saw the light and knowing that both of them are present and decided to follow it. Rhima finally opens her eyes and to see Jin in his angel form and she was shocked and surprise to see him.

"Jin, is that you? Your power had transitioned between a devil through an angel. Your mother was very lucky to give you as a gift."

"When I inhibited my devil powers to scare you at first and calling me a devil freak, it was immediately diminished. Because I'm able to purify myself deep within on this form." Angel Jin smiled at her and soon continued to tell her the story while in this form. "As my mother's apparition gave me that power that turns me into an angel, I swatted that dark projectile long enough to protect my home island. Kazuya was mad to see me at this form and noticing that I have the power of purification when I blocked his punches. We continued to have an aerial battle until we got blasted from a powerful volcanic eruption and this continues our deadly fight."

"So where are you two then?"

"The volcanic crater we're in, which is powerful enough to sent us in space and that volcanic crater had became a fallen comet. Humans from Earth can't survive without oxygen, only me and Kazuya are the ones who's breathing within our respective forms." Angel Jin calmly said and zooms to where he and True Devil Kazuya are about to fight in space.

Flashback:

Both men had fought destructively but True Devil Kazuya flies up to unleash the crystal in mid-air and shoots multiple lasers. Angel Jin dodges most of the laser beams and heavily knocks him down with a powerful heavy blow. The fight continued until True Devil Kazuya does not given up the fight, and unleashing his Rage Art by knocking him off with one left punch. Taking them through the dark dimension, True Devil Kazuya ensnares Angel Jin and blasting off with a far more powerful Devil Blaster. Angel Jin is able to block with his wings and gets on the ground in exhaustion.

"Still alive, are you?"

"This isn't over yet!" Angel Jin said and stands up and unleashing more of his angelic powers and the comet they're in had burst with lava and flames making their fight into a more hellish one.

Despite the difficulty in battling True Devil Kazuya and his powers, Angel Jin ultimately prevails when he unleashes his Rage Art in which he ensnares him with several golden chains and heavily punches him to the gut by forming crystals and unleashing two knife-hand blades on both of his hands to slash him down while bursting in a flash of light.

"How dare you!"

Angel Jin charges with his own angelic power while True Devil Kazuya does the same and both finally exchanging their blows by using their respective punches to cancelling out .

"Deprivation, domination, forced capitulation! This is what it means... to have POWER!"

"I'll protect what's precious to me and pave the way to our future! That's what this power is for!"

Both men continued to use their powers in whoever gets beaten with their respective fists and it forms into a large wing which is half-gold and shades of purple. Their clash between their punches also purifies themselves at the same time by erasing both Azazel and the Devil Gene as it bursts into a white light forming a powerful explosion and the comet they were in fell into the atmosphere on Earth.

Flashback over:

Angel Jin looked at the night sky and he looked at his right fist knowing that this purifies themselves with the power Jun gave to him. Rhima sees him happily.

"You really nailed him down, Jin. Just like how my father would even acted the same way as how he had saved me when I was younger."

"I can still use this form temporarily, Rhima-san... because the devil inside of me is no more and the devil's blood is already gone because both Azazel and the Devil Gene from the both of us had erased while we cancelling out our punches during our deadly fight." Angel Jin said as he reverted back to his normal state since his transformation to his angel form was temporary. "But Kazuya was way persistent to understand. We both survived long after the comet we're in had crash landed back on Earth and we were in the middle of the deep storm."

"..."

"I had to prove myself and I still have hope. And hope was the one that gave me the will to fight until the very end." Jin said in a serious tone of his voice and he simply tells her. "Our fight with Kazuya and I... it was a ravage and a deadly fight between us until if some of us will be knocked out cold for good."

Flashback:

After the comet had finally crash landed on the ground in the middle of the deep storm. Both men are revealed to be alive after their devil powers are now purified and erased both Azazel and the Devil Gene after clashing with their respective powers and soon confronted each other once again in their respective human forms.

"We've lost the devil's power. We're nothing but a couple of humans now, you and I." Jin tells his father that they are no longer to have devil powers but Kazuya didn't care and wants to kill him.

"What of it? That was nothing but one means to an end."

"In that case... I'll stop you, here and now!" Jin decided to stop his father Kazuya which he evilly replies.

"If you stand before me, you die. Doesn't matter who you are."

Both men landed their respective leaping side kicks consisting of both his Leaping Side Kick and Hell Lancer and they started a fight. It was an equal fight which they take blow by blow until Jin gets it first. He continued pummeling him but Kazuya knocks it off and soon retaliate with a powerful roundhouse kick. As soon as Jin was ready to charge at him, Kazuya manages to overpower him with his powerful blow to knock him out and Jin gets up.

"I'm still in this...! I cannot lose here!" Jin charges at his father by landing a powerful Thrusting Uppercut despite he blocks it first and it was enough to launch him in the air. Jin breathes while charging a red aura on his right fist. "Let's do this!"

Jin executes a powerful Electric Wind Hook Fist and a powerful Leaping Side Kick to put his father down. Jin charges his right gauntlet in a red lightning and continues to fight while at the same time, they both used their headbutts on each other.

"You little shit...!" Kazuya grunted over his own son but Jin uses rocks as a distraction so that he can knock him out with his punch. Jin switches his fighting stance from his current fighting style to his old one that he had abandoned and unlearned and it was enough to damage him further. "But you abandoned the Mishima-Style..."

"I no longer hesitate to use the Mishima-Style!"

The fight still continues in Jin's favor, but unfortunately, Kazuya does not given up.

"Do you think you can overpower me?" Kazuya tries to charge at Jin but he blocks it and countering it with his own Lightning Uppercut. Jin continues to pummel him until he retaliated the same. "Power is everything!"

"Power isn't everything." Jin makes an assault on his father and Kazuya knew he became strong and he angrily states while going in his fighting stance. "That's who I am now. Bring it on!"

"You pretentious imp!"

Jin eventually switching the fighting stance to that of his mother Jun's and he finally utilizes the Kazama-Style Traditional Martial Arts by the book. That fighting style was also enough to damage Kazuya again. But he's not given up thinking that his fighting style was just half-baked.

"Not today! Half-baked moves won't work on me."

"I'll never give up!" Jin said knowing that he was never given up the fight and Kazuya knocks him off the wall as well as pummeling him down while trying to defend himself.

"Feeble! Anyone who tries to dictate how I live...will suffer for their trangressions!" Kazuya eventually punches Jin to the face as a large wave can be seen and saying the family motto. "A fight...is about who's left standing. Nothing else!"

Despite he was down, he remembers his friends and allies who were depending on him and soon tells him.

"A... fight... A fight...is about survival." Jin barely stands up which angers his father even more.

"You just don't know when to quit!"

Kazuya pummels Jin even further while the latter remembers when his friends and allies are speaking to him about his true desire and his survival as he thought.

Those feelings gave me the courage to survive.

"Preposterous!" Kazuya punches him through the gut and remembering both his mother Jun and Xiaoyu and knowing he does not given up.

"If it means living on with everyone... I'll get back on my feet as many times as it takes!" Jin said while clutching his gut and Kazuya evilly replies.

"Your refusal to quit is almost admirable. Even so, this match has already been decided!"

As soon as Kazuya charges at him, Jin is able to counter him while overcoming both of his pasts and his sins as well as his bond with his friends and allies and both had fight for the last time. Jin gets the upper hand while trying to remember how he had met his mother Jun and his conversation with Xiaoyu, realizing that he had wanted to live. He punches Kazuya's gut to almost knocking him down but he charges himself, thinking it will be his last to beat him. Despite his effort to power himself up, Jin still prevailed against Kazuya. Remembering his friends and allies when he looked at his right fist. Both men are charging themselves while punching each other's faces. But Jin's punch knocks Kazuya out cold, knowingly that he had won and leaves the latter's unconscious body behind. As the sun rises, he looked on both of his hands seeing himself for being human as he had thought.

With that, the devil's blood is gone from the world.

A white bird flies and he looks on the sea view and the blue sky as it flies back into the forest, seeing that his mother Jun was there. He walks on and to see a single flower which is the flower that his mother gave him when he was given an angel form within her energy ki and he takes it and thanking his mother.

"Mother... thank you."

I'm sure we'll see each other.

"Let's head back! Everybody's waiting for us."

Flashback over:

"I overcame all of Kazuya's heavy beatings and I was able to survive because of my friends and other fighters who were sided with me. This is where we started our normal lives after all of Kazuya and G Corporation's mess and this is how I started my new life anew when I met up with Xiaoyu on the road."

"You were indeed the last savior of humanity." Rhima commented nicely and she tells him in a curious manner. "I'm a little curious, what if Mr. Mishima would definitely beat the crap outta you and was knocked out cold?"

Jin imagines himself being incapacitated and knocked out cold by Kazuya and knowingly that he would literally disposed of him by throwing him off the cliff to his death and continuing on his global war with his own iron fist as he had thought.

Oh right... If I was incapacitated and knocked out cold. I'm sure that's what Kazuya wants, to kill me and threw my corpse into the cliff. Either Mother, Xiaoyu or my friends would not be so happy if I was killed from him and he will continue to wreck havoc through the ends of the Earth with G Corporation and his forces.

"If he does then it will be my end. I know Xiao, mother or my friends would be left heartbroken if I died and they will mourn over my loss."

"Jin, thanks for telling me all of this... You're more problematic than mine when it comes to difficult battles and it was a fight for survival." Rhima said thankfully and Jin smiles at her and get his tablet while turning off its flashlight mode.

"You're welcome... I wanted to tell you everything so that you will understand it better. But for now, we have to stop him from blocking you on your mission."

"Jin."

Both Jin and Rhima stand up and sees Jun who appeared to see them.

"M-mother..."

"Mrs. Kazama..."

"I almost forgot to tell you, Rhima-san. I'm also a complete idiot. " Jin said while gazing at her and smiles. "I didn't knew my mother was alive all along and I believed that she was killed from Ogre and decided to avenge her death by mastering the Mishima-Style from my late grandfather, Heihachi. She had survived in her fight with Ogre and was gravely wounded and she decided to remain at the shrine to take on a deep sleep for seven years in order to recover from her injuries. She finally told me of her survival after I defeated Kazuya in our deadly fight in a deep storm."

"Rhima-san... you want to see your parents at your world. I will be glad to take you there." Jun said calmly and convincing her son to assist her. "Put your hand into my right palm and Jin, you can come with us so that we can channel our thoughts."

Both closes their eyes to channel their thoughts as Jun utilizes her energy ki as she glows in a golden light. Lee arrives just in time to see the golden light. The golden light engulfs throughout the entire forest area and Lee screams when he was engulfed by the light and quickly disappears upon sight.

Trivia:

*Jin's angel form, Angel Jin makes his debut for this chapter when he allows Rhima to use her power to transform him into an angel much like his mother Jun who gave him a single flower that forms into an energy ki to transform. However, his transformation to his angel form was temporary due to both Azazel and the Devil Gene were erased when they cancelling each other with their punches during the fight.

*Jin made a short reference of the non-canonical bad ending of Tekken 8 Story Mode where Jin was defeated by Kazuya and being thrown off the cliff by him.

*Jun's side story was mentioned by Jin when he tells Rhima about his mother's survival in her fight with Ogre.
