"Hokage-sama, you're not allowed in there!" a nurse run after him in a vain attempt to stop him.
Kakashi ignored the nurse's protests, his gaze fixed on the door to Sakura's room. "Please, Hokage-sama, Tsunade-sama will have my head if you barge in Sakura's room. Hokage-sama!"
"Let me through." Kakashi's voice is menacing.
"Hokage-sama, please."
"It's either you're going to let me through, or I will put you on medic field rotation. Your choice."
The nurse, realizing she had no choice but to yield to the determined Hokage, reluctantly stepped aside. Kakashi pushed open the door and entered Sakura's hospital room.
The atmosphere inside was heavy with the scent of antiseptic and the soft hum of medical equipment. Sakura lay still on the hospital bed, connected to various monitors. Her face, usually vibrant with life, bore the signs of exhaustion and pain.
Kakashi approached the bed, his heart constricting at the sight of Sakura in such a vulnerable state. He took a moment to compose himself before pulling a chair closer and sitting down.
"Sakura," he whispered, his voice a mixture of regret and sorrow. "I'm so sorry."
Sakura remained still, her eyes closed, seemingly oblivious to Kakashi's presence. He reached out, gently taking her hand in his, the coolness of her skin sending a shiver down his spine.
"I should have been there for you," Kakashi admitted, his tone filled with remorse. "I should have protected you. I let you down, and I can't forgive myself for that."
The room remained silent, the only sound the rhythmic beeping of the monitors. Kakashi continued to hold Sakura's hand, his gaze fixed on her face as he grappled with the weight of his choices.
"I know I messed up, Sakura," he continued, his voice barely above a whisper. "But I want to make things right. I'll do whatever it takes to support you, to be there for you. Just give me a chance to make amends."
As Kakashi spoke, he noticed a slight change in Sakura's expression. A subtle furrow of her brows, a twitch of her fingers – signs that she might be aware of his presence. His heart skipped a beat with a glimmer of hope.
"Sakura, if you can hear me, please know that I care about you deeply," Kakashi confessed, his emotions raw. "I love you, and I can't stand the thought of you going through this alone. Let me be there for you, Sakura. Please."
The room remained silent, and Kakashi felt a mix of anxiety and anticipation. He squeezed Sakura's hand gently, desperately hoping for some sign of acknowledgment. But there's no response from her.
"What is it that I heard about you threatening my staff?" Tsunade's stern voice cut through the air.
"They won't let me see her." Kakashi answered his predecessor without turning to face the blond.
Tsunade, with her arms crossed and a disapproving expression, walked further into the room. "You think that breaking the rules and intimidating my staff is the way to help Sakura?"
Kakashi turned to face Tsunade, his visible eye reflecting a mixture of guilt and frustration. "I needed to see her. I couldn't just stand outside while she's in this condition."
Tsunade's gaze softened slightly as she observed Kakashi's distressed demeanor. "I understand that you're concerned, Kakashi. But you have to trust the medical team to take care of her. Breaking into her room won't help her heal faster."
Kakashi nodded, a sense of defeat in his eyes. "I know, Tsunade. I just... I couldn't help myself. I need to be here for her."
"You can't do anything for her. You're just going to cause her distress."
Tsunade sighed, her expression shifting from sternness to a more understanding tone. "Look, Kakashi, I get it. But Sakura needs rest, and any additional stress won't help her recovery. You need to trust the medical team and have faith that she's in good hands."
Kakashi ran a hand through his silver hair, his grey eyes reflecting a mix of frustration and concern. "I just want to make things right. I can't believe I let this happen to her."
Tsunade placed a reassuring hand on Kakashi's shoulder. "You're not the one who caused this, Kakashi. Sakura is a strong ninja, and she fought her way through. Now, she needs time to heal. Give her that time."
Kakashi nodded, acknowledging Tsunade's words. "I'll stay out of the way, but if there's anything I can do to help—"
"Help by respecting her recovery process," Tsunade interrupted. "She'll need support when she wakes up, but for now, let her rest."
Kakashi nodded again, his shoulders slumping with a mix of resignation and acceptance. Tsunade squeezed his shoulder before leaving the room, leaving Kakashi alone with Sakura.
As the door closed behind Tsunade, Kakashi turned his attention back to Sakura, his gaze lingering on her still form. He gently released her hand, giving it a final, tender squeeze before standing up. With one last look at Sakura, he left the room, the weight of his own actions heavy on his heart.
