"I will have to withdraw from Japan," I say to Genbu, who is across from me and occupying that same seat, inside the same bunker he has been using to hide from the conflict, a leader who hides from the battles fought in his land.

Genbu, crossing his fingers and with a look on his face in which there is no satisfaction at my words, says to me "Why?"

"The data, I will give it to you, all its contents, I will give you everything that is in it, but that data, will be of no use, if we don't have people capable of replicating the same technology that I have stored inside the Black Glint database... for that reason I am leaving Japan and I am asking you... the prime minister of Japan, do you know anyone who will fulfill what I am asking?" My serious eyes never stray from Genbu's analytical eyes.

"Yes, I know people who would be willing to lend us a hand, many of them are addressing us as we speak, which eliminates the need to withdraw from our country," says Genbu, trying to bargain my departure from the island of Japan.

But I don't plan to do that, I'm already in this fight with Japan against the Holy Britannian Empire, I'm a one man army of course, but even I know I need the help of people if I want to win this war.

Getting out of japan would allow me to have the necessary contacts, I don't know anyone outside of this country, so what I can do, is meet with the right people, in the places of greatest conflict, gather those who oppose Britannia at this time.

Together, you may be invincible, you may have the strength to take down Britannia, they may still have a technological breakthrough with those NORMALS of yours, but that's nothing, when an endless tide of people, full of resentment and hatred towards you, can sink you completely.

Plus they will help me stay away from whatever plans Genbu has planned for me.

But the other reason I have to go out.

"Maybe, but, I have to ask you, are these guys trustworthy? Do you trust that none of them are working as moles to infiltrate your country and sabotage what little strength you have left?"

"That's something that can be easily fixed Black Glint, something you should know easily enough" Genbu replies instantly.

"And just as you can make sure of it, they can hide their tracks well... if I'm going to give the data to someone, so that they're able to create the technology it contains, it at least has to be someone I can trust with this kind of burden."

"The kind of stuff in here, the kind of data I have in my possession... it has the ability to put this world back to the stone age, not only would Britannia be reduced to ashes, so would Japan and the rest of the world, if the kind of technology falls into the hands of those who cannot handle the kind of power within... this is not negotiable Genbu, I didn't come here to ask your permission... I came here, to tell you."

"that this, this is what is going to happen."

Our gazes locked on each other, Genbu's now narrowed eyes staring into mine, which were staring dullly and emotionlessly into Genbu's still-living eyes.

I don't know how long he and I stared at each other, but I estimate that about 3 minutes and 31 seconds passed, without taking our eyes off each other, he didn't give in to anything and neither did Genbu.

But in the end, the winner of this staring contest, the claimed me, when Genbu sighs wearily, and with a tired look in his eyes tells me "if that's so... then I can't stop you, as much as I would want you to stay and protect my home and the people who live here, I have to give you the reason".

I clasp both hands in front of him, and with narrowed eyes he tells me "Britannia will not take long to launch another offensive, we estimate that it will take about 2 months to prepare a second proper naval invasion... and if you are not here, this time, I have no doubt that we will fall under the power of Britannia".

"You have your Knightmares, use them to defend yourselves, have your people learn how to use those machines, and with the few pilots you have, you can prepare a defense, not the strongest, but buy all the time you can for when I return" I replied instantly.

"Yes... but would be good to avoid, that my sacred home would be bathed in more destruction and blood in the process... the data you have in your control, the kind of technology in it... is it really that dangerous?" Genbu asks me.

To which I reply, with the same attitude I've always had "if that means they can lead the world to almost certain extinction... then yes... they are."

"..."

"..."

"... I see... if so, then I ask you for a favor, one more task in case Britannia attacks sooner rather than later."

"I told you Genbu, I'm not staying here."

"I know, for that reason I am not offering you a large amount of money to stay in this place, instead I am asking you...to take the children with you."

"... What?" Confused by what he just said, I couldn't help but make an expression that is akin to disbelief.

"Yes... if Britannia returns sooner rather than later and you are not around by the time they arrive, then the children, my son and the princes of Britannia will be taken back to the royal palace... something we cannot allow, especially my son... god knows, what Britannia may do to my son."

"If so, then why not send him with someone else?" I ask, curious about Genbu's motives, not to send them elsewhere, while all this war was going on.

"Why I don't trust the Chinese Federation or the European Union, to use my son or the princes, as a bargaining chip against us, hostages that I could never get back... but things are different, your arrival completely altered things, you changed the board completely, and with someone like you I know that the princes and my son will be safe under your care" Genbu tells me, his deep and powerful voice, hides a weakness.

A weakness that I don't need to see with my telekinesis, anyone who knew how to read people deeply would instantly tell that Genbu... has a thing for children.

Something that I have never felt before and that I am most likely to feel in life... and that is fear, not fear of children, no.

That's not the kind of fear Genbu is feeling right now, it's the kind of fear that forces you to look at your children every 5 minutes to see how they are doing and if they haven't hurt themselves with something that could affect their integrity.

A fear that I have seen several times reminds me of my handler... it's been a long time since I thought of her... I don't remember her name, but she had always cared about me.

She had always cared about me... at every moment, she always took care of me, at every mission I completed, she was always there to ask me how I was doing...

... But now she is dead ... dead by my own hand, dead while trying to stop the massacre I was waging in the heavens, she was the last person I had actually killed.

She was my last victim... before White Glint's LYNX, struck the right blow... and finished me off.

But that never happened, now I am here... seeing the fear in the depths of Genbu's eyes, a fear that I can understand, but not just any fear, it is a fear that every parent has for their children.

He's afraid of losing the children, but I feel it's especially his son... Suzaku, that child who has not stopped seeing me as a damn hero.

"...You know you can send him with Tohdoh out of the country, you can order him to leave and take care of the child for you."

"I can do it... but Tohdoh would never forgive me if I took him out of the fight for his home, for his homeland, I can't do that to him... besides, it's much safer with you, than with anyone else in the world... you may be known worldwide, but no one knows who you really are... so I trust, you to take care of them, while you're out there" he really thinks so.

... do you really believe that I will be able to take care of the princes and your son?

...

... if so... then he is correct.

"... -I sigh- fine, I will do it, but I won't be able to take care of them by myself all the time, for that reason I ask you to give me the command of an armed group, not so big, so they won't slow down my efforts" I say seriously to Genbu.

"Well, that can be arranged, let me ask Tohdoh, what groups he will have available to support you in your search" Genbu replies instantly.

"And Ayre will come with me as well, she has proven to be a person of great importance to the operations I have been carrying out in these times... and since I am here, you know someone who is willing to lend a hand with the data I possess?"

Genbu nods "I heard of a young scientist named Rakshata who works in India, a genius as far as I know, she is in New Delhi, you should be able to get there within 1 month."

"Won't we have air transport?" I ask.

He shakes his head and says "unfortunately no, every military airlift we had has been completely destroyed, besides I doubt a plane will be able to carry that machine of yours, no, the only thing we can give you is a cargo ship bound for China... that's all I can arrange for the moment" says Genbu.

"... I see... if so then thank you" with that said I get up from where I was sitting, and with a serious face I say to Genbu "I'll try to get back as fast as I can."

"Good" nods Genbu, with our talk over, I head for the exit of this place, but just before I do Genbu speaks to me "Black Glint".

I turn my head to look at Genbu, who, with a serious face, but with eyes full of concern tells me "Take care of my son... don't let him get involved in this kind of life you are having, don't let him see you, as the hero he thinks you are."

"..."

"..."

"... Fine, I'll do it then" and with that said I walk out of this reinforced bunker, leaving Genbu alone in this isolated place protected from any threats that may be outside this room.

And of the whole island...

I walked to the right, away from the room where Genbu is, turning a corner, where Ayre was waiting for me.

"And so...what did he say to you?" she asks, anxious to know the answer I got from Genbu.

"He agreed to help us, he will provide us with a small armed party, as well as a vessel to transport us to the Chinese port closest to India."

My answer caused Ayre to sigh with relief, the huge weight that was on her shoulders for being responsible for unleashing destruction on the world was finally lifted. Now she can breathe easy.

"That's good to hear... but will there be someone who is capable of producing the energy source your AC needs?" asks Ayre.

To which I nod and reply "yes, Genbu informed me of a woman who may have what we need to be able to load the Kojima particle generator, a woman by the name of Rakshata, she is in India at the moment... she will be the one to help us recreate the Kojima particles".

Ayre nods her head, the relief in her crimson eyes was certainly welcome.

"That's good..." Ayre stops and looks at me, and in a soft tone asks "Did something else happen Lynx?"

I look at her curious for asking that question and ask "What makes you say that?"

"Well, it's just that... your face tells me that something happened, like you were given the task of doing something you don't like... so I'm asking you Did something else happen in that talk with Genbu?"

...

... Heh, when I have become easy to read for Ayre.

But I guess it shouldn't be a surprise, after all she's with me all the time, listening to my voice and studying me closely every chance she gets to see me head on.

She must know what bothers me... and what doesn't bother me.

And right now she must be seeing in my eyes, an annoyance I have to deal with...

"Unfortunately yes, Genbu left me in charge of the princes and his son...he wants to get them as far away from this place as possible, prevent them from getting caught in the crossfire of this war we are fighting right now."

"Ah... I see... I guess you can't really blame her, after all if I were a mother, I would wish my children to be taken as far away from this place as possible" an expression I could not decipher was written on her face, the crimson eyes and silver white hair would certainly make her look like a family woman...

"... I'll go pick up the kids, you contact Tohdoh and inform him of the situation, and have him help us move Black Glint to the cargo ship, once that's done and the equipment we need to leave, wait for me until I return with the kids, okay."

Ayre nods and tells me "As you say Lynx, I'll meet you at the boat" and with that said, I trot towards the exit of this place, to fulfill the orders I just gave her.

... Children... the future of a new generation, those who many of us hope will change the future, who will be the hope for today that many of us want them to be.

The purest and most innocent souls that humanity can produce, young minds who, instead of being trapped in the middle of a war, should be enjoying a life full of games, joy and unconditional love from a family...

Instead, these kids, they just saw what war is like head on, the little girl, unable to see what was going on around her, was able to feel what was going on right now, she was able to know the kind of shit she was in the middle of.

Those young people should be with their families, those children should go to school, make friends and learn everything the world has to offer... but that will not be possible at this time.

None of that will be possible for them... like me.

A child who became a LYNX, by the simple desire to survive in that dead world, someone who wanted to climb up in the world in order to continue his miserable existence, in a future that was nothing but ashes and dust in the air.

...Ashes and dust...

...

... I wonder sometimes... if dying would have been the best option, if dying in that hellish desert, next to the town that was destroyed by a battle between AC, would have been much better... than being the monster that I am.

...I guess I'll never find out...but those children, I always told myself, I would prevent any other child from suffering a fate like mine...avoid.

...That they became the greatest monsters of mankind...

...If there is a chance for them to avoid that fate...then I will take them with me.

And with that in mind, I am standing again, in the room where the three brats are staying, I could sense through my psychic link I had with the little girl, that all three were awake right now.

And without saying anything or touching the door, I turned the door knob and walked into the room, and saw them, Suzaku was helping Nunnally to create a bird figure with Origami, and Lelouch was in front of them, his eyes fixed on a chess board, a game that neither of them played, but with himself.

Suzaku surprised by my arrival, stands up quickly and says "Black Glint-Sama, I didn't expect you around here, what brings you to this place" the enthusiastic emerald eyes looking at me as if I were a hero are certainly annoying.

I was never a hero and never will be one, but I'm more than sure that a lot of people consider me that way these days, my rallying cry would certainly be considered one.

People will not know at first that I am me, the pilot of the Black Glint, but in time they will know who I am, they will soon recognize my face... there is nothing that can prevent that, the least I can do is to take advantage of the time it will take for people to find out who I am and go unnoticed among the frontiers that exist in this world.

And this child, will not make that task very easy.

"... Gather your things... you three will come with me."
