Gotham City
"This is a bit unexpected." Levi whispered to himself as he sat in the library near his home early in the morning and picked up some random books and after reading the first one, he saw that he gained a skill.
You've learned the [Martial Arts] skill!
The book was based on karate forms and techniques and the bizarre thing was that Levi now had ingrained information about karate within his mind which confused him since he had read books similar to this before and could hardly memorize anything unless he reread the book a few times over.
Damn instruction manuals.
"Okay. This doesn't outright prove anything so let's just move onto the next book." Levi said before he read one of the other books he had been given and again after some time reading, he learned another skill.
You've learned the [Boxing] skill!
You've learned the [Speed Reading] skill!
Levi knew about videogames and had played his fair share to start connecting some dots that he didn't want to connect because he refused to believe what was happening to him right now. So, he pressed on and just continued to read the other books he picked up.
You've learned the [Botany] skill!
You've learned the [Wilderness Survival] skill!
You've learned the [Crafting] skill!
"Okay I think that's enough." Levi said when his head started to hurt a bit from the sudden influx of information that started to occupy his head. "Why did I even pick up a book about Botany and how to identify plants?" Levi asked himself with a whispered sigh before he answered his own question. "I did it because I might be asked to ship out towards a rainforest or something."
Levi took the time to leave the library before he hopped onto his parked Softail Standard cruiser bike from Hayley Davidson before going into the streets of Gotham for a ride to take his mind off things.
Levi put on his helmet and looked himself over as he was decked out in his protective leather jacket and jeans with black boots, biker gloves and said motorcycle helmet placed on his head before he took out his keys and started his bike before taking off.
The reason Levi doubled checked everything was because Gotham is dangerous on and off the roads, meaning that a crash was likely to happen to anyone and for people on motorcycles the odds of being in a crash where doubled and he didn't need to revisit the hospital because some bastard couldn't use his damned mirrors.
Anyway, Levi just took a nice long ride through Gotham city while thinking about how his life seemed to be getting weirder and weirder by the second.
A horrible accident couldn't have changed Levi's life into a videogame, right? It was ridiculous to even consider. But Levi also couldn't deny the fact that he did have bars for his hunger, thirst and sleep needs along with seemingly learning skills from books.
[Motorcycle Handling] has leveled up! Level: 23-24!
"There is also the fact that I have to deal with alerts like this." Levi said to himself with a groan before he stopped at a nearby light and noticed a strange truck in the lane next to him. The truck itself wasn't strange but what was strange was the trailer it was attached to because it seemed to be made from some protective metal that looked like a miniature fortress on wheels.
Levi gave it a glance before he and the truck made their way down the street for a while before Levi noticed someone tailgating him and the truck.
[Miscellaneous Quest Alert!
Name: Random Encounter
Objective: Survive this random encounter!

Failure: Possible death!]
"No way." Levi said before he saw a person lean out of the cars passenger side window and fire an assault rifle at the truck causing the truck to try and speed off while Levi did the same and kept a wide distance from the truck.
Thankfully the car didn't focus on him and focused on the truck by itself before the chase got onto the nearby highway. The strangest thing was that the truck seemed to have some scientific defense systems as two small turrets came out of the read right and left side of the trucks trailer and fired energy rounds at the attacker but the attacker swerved out of the way of the bullets allowing his friend to keep firing at the trailer before the attacker put his foot on the gas and rammed into the back of the trailer with a surprising amount of force.
The trailer fired its turrets again and this time hit the car several times over at close range, causing the car to explode behind the trailer as well as propelling the trailer forward causing the truck to plow through the protective railing on the highway and fall to the ground below as the truck and trailer hit the ground and rolled into a nearby warehouse.
"Holy shit." Levi said before turning around and making his way towards the truck. Soon enough Levi got off his bike near the place and made his way over to the truck that was outside of the partially wrecked warehouse and saw that the driver was dead due to a lack of airbags and his head slamming hard into his steering wheel.
Levi almost puked when he saw the brain of the driver before he heard a strange noise coming from inside the warehouse near the end of the trailer that was still attached to the truck.
"This is such a bad idea, but I've got to know what the hell got you killed." Levi said towards the driver's corpse before making his way into the warehouse by squeezing in between the ruined wall and truck that had entered the warehouse and saw the abandoned place luckily didn't have any people inside who could have been hurt but what Levi did see was that the turrets at the end of the trailer had been destroyed and the back doors of the trailer had opened.
Levi didn't know if it came from the car explosion or the crash, but right now he didn't care and made his way towards the exposed doors and saw the inside of the trailer. The trailer was mostly empty except for a strange mechanical and circular pod in the center of it. Levi cautiously took a few steps towards the pod wondering why he was doing this. He didn't feel compelled or forced but soon realized that his curiosity was to blame along with discovering why he almost became a morgue patient before giving the truck space to get attacked.
If it was any other city, he would have been gunned down as a witness but in Gotham most people already assume your up to no good when you avoid a bad scene and not call for help from the police force.
"What is this thing?" Levi asked when he lightly touched the pod like container with his palm before he saw lines glow and appear around the pod in an eerily green light before releasing gouts of steam making Levi cough a bit and back up a few steps before seeing the pod open like some form of blooming mechanical flower.
The pod split into four segments that lowered themselves onto the ground revealing the inside of the pod to be a prisoner. The prisoner is a woman in black and white gothic clothing that looked to be ancient Victorian and the clothes were rather form fitting. Her skin is fair, and she has shoulder length black hair with light makeup on her face. Around her neck is a leather chocker with a pendant in the center of it and she seemed to be exhausted and weak as she raised her head and looked at Levi.
Yennefer, Level: ?
Horsewoman of War/Arcane Seal Victim
"Would you kindly stop staring and assist me?" Yennefer asked before Levi shook his head and snapped out of his daze before helping the woman up and out of the building when he started to hear sirens in the distance.
"Who are you? And why were you imprisoned in some weird looking pod inside of a decked-out truck trailer?" Levi asked as he helped Yennefer stay on her feet before they got near his motorcycle.
"My name is Yennefer, and I can explain after I get some rest, but I request that you not turn me over to any law enforcement. I will be killed if I'm captured."
"Don't tell me you are some kind of terrorist or cartel leader or something." Levi said while Yennefer scoffed.
"Nothing of the sort. I was betrayed and had my abilities sealed away. I can explain more once I am in a safe location and if you've done this much, I can assume that you can aid me with this request." Yennefer replied in an almost condescending tone.

Levi found himself wrestling with this decision and his mind was telling him to turn the stranger over, but his heart was telling him that the vulnerable woman he was helping might have something more going on and that she deserved to be helped.
"Damn it." Levi cursed in frustration. "This is a horrible idea, but I want a proper explanation to all of this. So, get on." Levi said before helping Yennefer onto his back before he got on himself and rode out of the area when the emergency services got near the place and thankfully, they didn't follow him or notice him leaving with Yennefer.
1
"Okay start talking." Levi said to Yennefer after he had snuck her into his townhouse and let her rest on his favorite chair.
"My name is Yennefer, and I was one of the founding members of the Cult of Cold Flame. A mystical order helping guide humanities growth. In a sense you could say that we…They were the Illuminati that people love to make conspiracy theories about. However, the interest of the order changed and when I along with a select few others resisted the changes being put in place, we left the order through different means. Some voluntarily while others like myself were imprisoned and had our powers sealed from us. I was being taken back to the orders primary location before you found me." Yennefer explained and Levi looked at her while she spoke and knew she was telling the truth.
The first reason was based on the fact that he knew how to tell when a person was lying based on their facial and body movements while the second reason was the second title, she had above her head.
"Let's say I believe all of this…Where do you go from here?"
"I do not know. It has been centuries since I have been without my magic. I'm not ignorant to the ways of this world but some of the finer points of modern living elude me, so I am asking for your assistance until I come up with a proper plan to restore my abilities and fend for myself." Yennefer said while Levi sighed while crossing his arms.
"Recently I have had some bizarre things happen to me that allows me to understand that you're telling the truth. I don't know if it is the complete truth or if you have hidden details, but I can't call myself an honest man if I just kick you out on the streets since your apparently wanted by some cult…I'll help you out for now, but I want more details about this cult of yours after you've gotten some rest." Levi said to Yennefer who smirked.
"You're a kind man it seems. Not many would welcome a stranger into their home. You remind me of a gray wolf I once knew." Yennefer said before Levi saw another alert appear.

"Just don't make me regret this. I've got food in the fridge if you're hungry and you can watch tv but don't order anything." Levi said before making his way upstairs to his master bedroom where he laid down on the bed before cutting on the flatscreen in his bedroom and watched tv before letting out a heavy breath. "It's just one weird turn after another. Seriously I have no idea what is even going on with my life at this point. Why am I helping a stranger like this?"
Levi hated the fact that he had put himself in some serious danger with this unknown woman, but he also knew that his parents are the ones who instilled him with kindness, respect and honor for people without letting them walk all over you. The moment she tried something horrible, Levi wouldn't hesitate to kick her out, but he did agree to let her stay and now had to deal with it. He didn't keep his revolver under his bed in a locked box for no reason.
"If my life really did change into a videogame, does that mean I have a status sheet?" Levi asked before that very screen appeared in front of him.

Levi was struck silent for a long moment of time in sheer shock before he spoke in cold realization.
"Oh, fuck." Levi cursed in a low voice while lowering his head before he experimentally touched the screen and felt the weight that the screen had and realized that he had somehow had his life transformed into a literal videogame. "That means that the training quest I got wasn't just for show. I actually have to train like I did for the military and improve my skills a lot for some reason that seems to elude me because I don't think it is just to get me healthier." Levi said to himself with a sigh and a groan.
In anime these videogame-based powers and shit seemed like fun but in real life it was anything but. In real life a person can't normally shrug off bullets or go and hunt down goblins for a quest to grind up points and experience. Real life had strict rules and consequences for doing things.
Levi's thoughts were suddenly stopped when he heard the shower running downstairs.
"I guess she found the towels and rags." Levi said after letting out a breath to try and calm himself down a bit before thinking critically about the situation. "If I think about it, I could abuse this power and enhance my body rapidly, but I don't know how people would react. I need to keep things subtle and lowkey."
You've gained 1 WIS point for making a wise decision!
"Lovely." Levi groaned in response to the game screen he saw before he took out his phone and started making notes of a good workout routine that he could do during the day. "I need to get back in good shape anyway."
4/15/2024
Gotham City
"You're going out again?" Yennefer asked Levi when he was about to walk out the door in a black hoodie and jeans with sneakers on his feet.
"Working out keeps me fresh and helps me focus." Levi responded when he looked back at Yennefer in the living room and simply dressed in her black lacy bra and panties with her chocker still around her neck while she sat on the floor and watched tv dramas.
"Whatever you say. Just don't strain yourself." Yennefer replied making Levi roll his eyes. Levi had long since learned to avoid scanning over Yennefer's body for too long since she decided to not get overly dressed when she remained inside of a single home. Levi appreciated the eye candy, and she knew it, but Levi didn't harass her or bother her for sex or anything, so she didn't mind him looking as a reward for not being a 'savage' as she put it.
"I'll try not to." Levi replied before leaving the house and started jogging towards the local park that was more than a fair distance away and when he reached the park he rested on the wooden bench for a while to regain his stamina and energy.
It's been a few days since Levi started his exercise routine and Levi had to admit that his newfound powers made exercise a bit easier and a bit faster in terms of seeing results for his efforts. So, after making sure nobody was looking, Levi opened his inventory and took out a sports drink and downed it to recover his energy faster.
[Sprint] has leveled up! Level: 15-16!
Levi smiled at the skill alert before tossing the sports drink bottle in the nearby garbage before he headed deeper into the park where he started practicing his combat skills in martial arts and boxing.
It levels up the skills as well as energy him stat points for training, so Levi saw no need to not abuse the system and train himself with his skills. So, for a decently long time Levi was shadow boxing and practicing his katas before he sat down on a wooden park bench near a public rest area and just sat down to rest and try to recover his energy once more before he heard the door to one of the restrooms open and stepping out of the girl's restroom is an unexpected beauty in Levi's eyes.
Kallen Kozuki, Level: 18
Kallen Stadtfeld/Forced Ronin Member
Kallen has fair skin with an athletic yet curvy figure with spiky red hair on her head and blue eyes. She is dressed in a simple black tank top with a white towel around her neck along with sneakers on her feet.
Levi knew what her second title meant. The Ronin who are the mob on Bleake Island or as they would say. They are the Yakuza brave enough to rise to power in the states. Anyone of any Asian decent is forcibly conscripted into the gang without a choice and nobody ever escapes the Ronin or at least they don't escape while they are alive. However, Levi was asking himself the question about why a Ronin member was all the way out here in Gotham City.
"What are you looking at?" Kallen asked when she noticed Levi looking her over.
"Sorry. I just didn't expect anyone else out here while I was training." Levi said with a bit of a nervous laugh while Kallen gave him a flat look with a raised eyebrow.
"Training?"
"Yes. I'm practicing my skills in Karate and Boxing. Plus exercising in the park like this feels thematically appropriate." Levi said while thinking of dozens of eighties and nineties fighting/martial arts movies.
"I'm out here training myself. Don't bother me." Kallen said bluntly before she walked away to train alone while Levi scratched his head a bit.
"That could have gone better but given the circumstances I can understand why she isn't a people person." Levi said before he continued resting before he decided to get up and walk back into his little section of the park where he decided to train but not physically. Instead, Levi looked up some information and went down onto his legs before he started meditating for the first time.
Levi simply focused on his breathing while he performed the breathing exercises that he had looked up on google as well as trying to empty his mind and simply focus on the sounds of his surroundings. Gotham isn't a quiet city, so it wasn't hard to focus on the noise, but the hard part was focusing on anything else.
"Focus." Levi said to himself as he continued to focus on his breathing and trying to clear his mind as he rested on his legs in an almost prayer like stance instead of doing the classic leg crossing stance.
Levi heard a game alert which he assumed was because he just earned the meditation skill but instead of opening his eyes to see it, he simply continued to meditate and focus on trying to become 'Zen' as they say.
By the time Levi opened his eyes he noticed several things. The first was the game screen he expected while the second thing he saw was Kallen leaning against a tree in front of him.
[Meditation] has leveled up! Level: 10-11!
'Damn that skill leveled up fast.' Levi thought to himself before Kallen spoke up.
"I thought you might have been some hippie or something, but you were actually deeply meditating in a park in Gotham. You must be mental." Kallen commented with a bit of a harsh look.
"Maybe, but meditation is useful and an important part of training. Besides why do you care? I thought you didn't want me bothering you."
"I don't want you bothering me, but when I came back and saw you, I decided to see if you were full of shit or not and waited for you to notice me. I could have taken you out without you even realizing it and in Gotham losing perspective like that could mean the end of your life." Kallen warned while Levi noticed her face soften a bit before she corrected herself and regained her cold demeanor.
'Something must have happened to her or someone she knew.'
"I appreciate the warning. The name's Levi by the way. What's your name? Or should I call you 'Red Watcher' since you have red hair and was looking over me." Levi said jokingly, making Kallen actually smile for a moment.
"Call me that again and I'll shove my fist down your throat. The name is Kallen, and you've got me curious. Why aren't you training in a dojo?"
"Because I don't want to spend the money, and several dojos or rec center places are either getting harassed by gangsters or are in a gang's pocket. So, this is the best thing I can do for now and maybe I might train under a real teacher eventually but again I have to tell you that I'm good for now." Levi said calmly and Kallen seemed to have listened before she stopped leaning against her tree.
"You're not wrong. Gotham is a mess. The older gangs were a lot more dangerous, and the Bat-Family puts in some work, but Gotham still has a long way to go. I can't blame you for wanting to avoid the hassle but training in martial arts without a real instructor will have you make several mistakes."
"I don't think I have to worry too much about that." Levi said with a chuckle while Kallen looked at him with her neutral expression which was a nice change compared to her earlier mask of annoyance.
"You're a carefree guy huh?"
"Yup. I try not to stress over things too much." Levi replied without telling her about how he was freaking out days ago about suddenly getting the world's weirdest superpowers.
"That can be a bad thing but since you don't seem like the type to listen, how about I prove to you that you need formal training." Kallen suggested with a sly smirk.
"What did you have in mind?" Levi asked while standing up to his feet.
"Let's have a little sparring match. If I win you need to either find a proper dojo without any hassles or give up on martial arts. It is a serious practice and making it up as you go is an insult." Kallen said firmly before Levi once again saw a new quest appear.

Do you accept this quest? Y/N?]
"What do I get if I win?" Levi asked while Kallen scoffed.
"Assuming you'll last more than a few seconds?" Kallen asked tauntingly, making Levi smirk and roll his eyes.
'This girl is fun.'
"You're right by saying that I can properly grow by having a teacher, so if I win and impress you. You have to teach me everything you know about martial arts." Levi said back making Kallen look at him with a bit of confusion before she got into a ready stance.
"You've got yourself a deal. No crotch shots, eye pokes and the first person to tap in a submission hold or stay on the ground without getting back up loses." Kallen explained while Levi didn't back down from the challenge and accepted the miscellaneous quest.
"Deal." Levi said before getting into his own stance, which caught Kallen off guard since she saw that his stance was proper and standard; nothing like she imagined for a person who claims they trained themselves without a teacher, so shook away the thought though and blitzed Levi with her own strikes of rapid jabs and crosses while Levi focused on dodging and countering with his arms in proper blocks.
Kallen wasn't above thinking that she underestimated Levi a bit, but she focused and narrowed her eyes when she blocked Levi's own strike before raising her right leg and kicked his exposed right side making him stagger a bit before she raised her elbow and brought it down hard onto the back of Levi's head when he bent over to hold his stomach.
Levi fell to a knee but kept a smile on his face before he swung his leg and attempted to kick out Kallen's leg with a low kick that she jumped over before responding with her own side kick aimed at his head, but Levi ducked under it and rolled away from her in order to get back up to his feet.
'Thank God the army taught me the importance about rolling under things and shit. That kick would have done some damage.' Levi thought to himself since he felt the rush of wind from Kallen's kick when it missed. Kallen didn't wait for him to get ready however and rushed him again with a shallow jump kick that Levi dodged before Kallen spun around in order to nail Levi in the nose with an elbow strike creating a harsh crunching sound.
Levi, however, grabbed Kallen's arm and raised his own leg to kick Kallen in the stomach with a powerful kick but she hardly seemed phased when she quickly hit the inside of Levi's exposed elbow with a powerful chop making him lose his grip instantly. The blow wouldn't have done anything if she hit the pointed side of his arm, but the inside bending part was vulnerable, and Levi made a note to remember that later after receiving an uppercut to the chin.
Kallen was stronger than she looked along with being faster as well and to say that this sparring match was one-sided would be an understatement. However, what surprised Kallen was the fact that despite the pain, Levi didn't quit or show any signs of doing so.
The main problem with this fight isn't just the fact that Kallen had a physical edge, but another problem was that she was more experienced and better trained to the point that she once again brought Levi down to the ground with surprising ease and this time while he was getting up, Kallen spoke.
"Alright that's enough."
"What? I can still fight." Levi said back before spitting out some blood from his bleeding mouth.
"You can but that won't change anything, but you still impressed me a bit." Kallen said before offering Levi a hand up that he respectively took.
"So, does this mean that I still need to give up martial arts?"
"No. Your poorly trained and lack real skill outside of the most basic forms and kata. You've got potential and I respect you a little bit since you didn't give me any bullshit about how woman can't fight. So, I'll give you a chance to become a real fighter and train you." Kallen said in a blunt tone of voice.

"It's not nice. I'm just helping you to be an actual fighter and survive in Gotham." Kallen said back before the two of them exchanged numbers before Kallen and Levi left the park and went their separate ways.
"What happened to you?" Yennefer asked when Levi entered the house while having been severely beaten up.
"I've got a new martial arts instructor." Levi replied before he headed upstairs and into the bathroom where he started wiping away some blood to clean himself up. "What book did I get anyway?" Levi asked himself before opening his inventory to look at the skill book and saw a strange screen appear.

END!
A/N: A new chapter for this story has been done and yes. I am going with a monk type build for this character but not in the way you'd expect. Qi has become a thing in DC, and I've checked but for the life of me I can't find a single person in DC comics that can use Ki/Qi/Inner energy or whatever you want to call it. So, this might be a first in any kind of DC universe, even one that doesn't exist like this one.
Also, throwing in some gangs from other media. *cough* Saints Row *cough* along with other characters in order to properly build my own plot. Hence why I added elements of the Witcher in the case of Yennefer and Kallen because she is hot and is a wifu.
Don't judge me.
Anyway, remember to fav, follow and review.
