In a cold dark forest. A 14 year old boy is seen bleeding to death…stabbed in the gut.
"Viola…i'm sorry…" the boy said. A floating mask looking like the face of a demon lowered itself towards him. It began to speak in his head.
"Viola was too kind hearted for her own good wasn't she…you knew damn well ellen couldn't be trusted. And look what happened. If you die here. Viola will stuck in that rotting carcass of ellens. If you put me on. I will give you the power to save her. But know that my power comes at a price. Horror and evil will find you. And you will have to fight again and again for your survival. Despite that. Will you still accept?" the mask said.
"I…accept." the boy said as he reached out for the mask. It floated into his blood soaked hand. And he put it on.
"Your choice is made…daniel kurayami." the mask said. His wound healed. And his eyes turned black. He could feel dark power flowing through him.
"I'm coming viola…" daniel said as he headed for the witch's house. As soon as he reached the outskirts of the house. Rose and thorn covered vines blocked the way out. "She knows we're here." daniel said.
"Yeah…keep your guard up kid. There's probably over a hundred ways to die in there." the mask said. The first room in the house already had a deathtrap. A puddle of blood that would cause the walls to come in and crush him. So he avoided stepping on the blood. And read the note on the wall.
"COME TO MY ROOM" the wall note red. It disappeared and after leaving the room. The door disappeared. The room on the left contained a pair of scissors chained down. And the door was locked. The other room was a hallway and alongside it was a room containing a basket with a big teddy bear in it.
"BEARS IN THE BASKET" the note on the wall. Read clearly. A puzzle that needed to be solved to unlock the door in the other room. With a sigh. The boy with the mask went to another room and found a study in the corner was a huge amount of presents and inside was another teddy bear. The limbs on it made it hard to put the bear in. so he headed to those scissors that were in the other room and cut the necessary limbs off. To his horror. Blood was now on the scissors. A bloody bear print appeared on the wall as he left the room. Returning to the room with the basket. He put the teddy bear torso in and thus caused the door in the other room to unlock.
As the masked boy entered the hall a flower pot fell over. He rolled his eyes at the cheap scare. Only for a big teddy bear with crimson red eyes to come bouncing in the room. He would have been turned into a bloody stain if not for a katana that appeared in his hand. With one slash the monstrous teddy bear hell bent on splattering him was now in two halves and dissolved into blood on the floor. The masked boy looked at the katana in his hand.
"Where did this come from?" daniel asked.
"One of my powers kid. Ellen knows you're here. Even if you sniff out the death traps. They're not the only magic trick of hers to make it so that you don't leave here alive. These creatures of ellen will actively chase you down. Luckily I can also provide you a weapon to defend yourself as well as sniff out the traps." the mask said.
"Thanks." daniel said. The next room was a dining area. There was a poisoned soup on the table. In the kitchen was an invisible chef chopping away at nothing. The chef needed a hand so the masked boy gave him the teddy bear limbs.
"Thank you for your help. Let me show my appreciation." the invisible chef said. He gave the masked boy a silver key.
"Okay. that worked. Don't know what that ghost chef needs with bloody teddy bear limbs. But i don't think i want to know." daniel said.
"You really don't…no go put that key in the poisonous broth on the table." the mask said.
"What!? Why!?" daniel asked.
"Just trust me kid." the mask replied. He did what he asked. The silver key turned black. And another door unlocked.
"Seriously? Putting a key in poison unlocks the door instead the key being used to unlock the door!?" daniel asked.
"This is the house belonging to a witch. Nothing will make sense here." the mask replied. After going up the stairs that was behind the locked door in the kitchen. Another puzzle awaited.
"SAVE THE BUTTERFLY" the text on the locked door read. In the next room was a butterfly in a spiders web. After pulling it out and heading for the exit. The door was locked. The katana appeared in his hand again.
"Hope you're not arachnophobic kid." the mask said. And sure enough a giant spider came down to bite the masked boy's head off. But with one swing of his sharp katana. The spider was in two. And the two halves dissolved into a puddle of blood. The door unlocked. And the masked boy exited. The butterfly flew off as the other door unlocked. Before continuing onward he entered the other room to find a library with an invisible librarian. Looking through the books he found book on the history of this house and ellen and a "funny story" the masked boy failed to understand how it was supposed to be funny. A hunter killing his dog out of anger was not his idea of comedy. But apparently it was to the chair in the room. Due to how it started laughing.
As the masked boy looked into a mirror in the room. A pale girl with no eyes and long blue hair appeared behind him.
"I'm sorry i didn't listen to you…please help me danny!" the girl begged as the mirror cracked. The masked boy eyes widened.
"Viola…" the boy said looking to the ground before his filled with determination "i'm going to save you…ellen! If your watching me! Enjoy viola's body while you can! Cause when i get out of here. I will make sure your soul suffers for what you've done to me and to her! Bet on that you vile witch!" daniel yelled in fury as he continued on his way.
Meanwhile in a house in the city near the forest a girl with blonde hair giggled.
"Don't get cocky daniel…my house has plenty more to worry about…you will just be another bloody to be cleaned up before long." the girl said.
Back with the masked boy he left the room to hear something heavy and metal moving. The suit of armor that was there was gone. A skull from another room charged at daniel. Only to be crushed under his boot. He scrapped the blood off his shoe and kept moving. After more stair climbing and dodging daggers in a red hallway. Coming from forward and behind. The next room had a lever on the other side of a thin metal line leading to it. Even without the mask warning him. He knew that trying to walk over himself would just result in him falling to his death. So he went to another and found a frog in a stone bathtub. It seemed to take a liking to him. After petting it. He took it to the room. The frog flipped the switch for him. Allowing him to continue.
The next puzzle was a simple one. Make one part of the room look like the other. Mirror the image basically. The next room contained another study that had one of ellen's diaries.
"My father and my mother didn't love me. So i X them i've been in this house ever since." the diary read. The masked boy knew that the X in these diaries of Ellen's meant "kill" she killed her parents. The masked boy never trusted her. He knew from the get go that him and viola were never friends. At least as far ellen thought. He knew she hated him. Because unlike viola he didn't trust that "only for one day" thing he knew that most likely she wasn't going to give it back. But viola being kind hearted to a fault gave in to ellen's demands. Because in her eyes she was just a dying girl. She also believed that daniel would make her honor the deal…when the next day came around. She stabbed him. And left him for dead.
That's why the masked boy is here now. He will get his best friend back…and make the witch pay for her deception. But first he had to get through the monsters and traps that await him in this cursed house.
After dodging another knife he found another diary of ellen's. He found out that a demon ate her parents corpses. The demon wold give her a cure for her illness in exchange for more flesh to fill his stomach the next room had a note that says "HE'S HUNGRY" the masked boy readied his katana. And entered the room. A big snake went for his throat only to get a katana through it's mouth. Just like all the monsters. He became a bloody stain on death. The next puzzle involved making noise in the four rooms. In a study. He found another of Ellen's diaries. About how the house ate all of her "friends" but it wasn't enough. The masked boy couldn't help but laugh. Him viola. And everyone who was stupid enough to be her friend. Were just sacrifices. People she could use. In a room with paintings. They were four holes in the wall. One would have the paper sheet he would need. The other three would result in becoming a snack for the wall. Thanks to the masks vision ability. He knew which one was the right one. But before that. He destroyed the paintings before hand. The mask gave him a heads up that one of them was one of ellen's monsters. Better safe than sorry. After solving a simple puzzle in the next room. He put the sheet music on the piano in the top room. The piano played itself. The masked boy would not dare touch any of the pianos keys knowing it would result in him becoming a human sundae in the piano's strings. And entering the room on the left. Mirror broke when he entered.
He rolled his eyes at another cheap scare and set the box to 12 with the winding key he got from the piano room. He got a clock key from the music box. After starting the clock in the right room after the painting room. All four rooms were making noise thus unlocking the door forward.
The next room that had a living statue that was weeping about her ring. Knowing that just ignoring the statue would result in head loss. The masked boy went down the fireplace. Surprisingly. The fireplace was one of the few places to have a deathtrap! Instead a ladder leading back to the dining room. In the pot was something floating. It was most likely that statues ring. Not wanting to burn himself. He went up the stairs that was hidden behind a bookshelf. He went up the stairs and found a room filled with skeletons.
"How many people has she killed?" daniel asked.
"Alot…from the looks of it." the mask said. He took golden chopsticks from a skeleton and used them to fish them out of the pot. When he went to leave a knife came at him he deflected it with his katana. The invisible chef from earlier came at him. Only to get sliced in two. The masked boy was not sure if the chef melted into blood like all the other monsters. But alas. He got the ring. And headed back up to the statue and gave her her ring. She thanked him. Though when he went to continue on. A crashing sound was heard. He went back down to find the statue on the floor broken and bleeding. Alas. the masked boy made it to the top floor. And thus found a garden. In the center was beautiful girl with white hair. However the frog hopped on his head. It seemed to enter a room somewhere nearby. The masked boy listened and found a room containing a pool that had tadpoles in it. The frog jumped off and into the water.
"Dad…" the tadpole said. "Thank you…you could have fed him to a snake. But instead you chose to put your life in danger to protect him…thank you. I know why you're here. Just ask the pretty girl in the garden and she'll let you through…you will save her. I know you will. Don't give up." the tadpoles said. After leaving the room. He went up the white haired girl.
"I need to go through that door behind the doors. Will you let me through?" daniel asked the girl. He put her hand on his chest.
"Despite the dark power on your face…your heart is so warm…filled with such determination and love...i'm jealous of viola." the white haired girl said. She couldn't see it. But she giggled knowing that their was a blush behind that mask. The roots vanished. "Your journey is almost over…go forth young hero." the girl said. As the masked boy went to leave the room. The blonde mean girls in another room came out.
"Of course he would be a suck up to her." one of them said.
"So useless…let's X them both!" another one said.
"Good idea!" the last one said. As they all drew blades. The masked boy summoned his katana killed the blonde attackers all who exploded with yellow petals as they died.
"Never could stand girls like them." daniel said as he continued. The next room was filled with poison gas and water. Luckily the mask doubled as a gas mask and allowed him to float over the water. Allowing him to avoid it and the traps. After entering the next room. He found another story. One about how her new friend saved her from her illness. But it also talked about the boy she was with.
"I hate that boy she's with…he's too smart for my liking. He knows that i can't be trusted but he's weak to my friend's kindness. Still he has to go. No doubt he'll force me to give the body back. Guess i'll just X him then…oh well." the diary read. The masked boy felt hatred unlike any he felt before. He never trusted ellen. But it was clear to him now that she was pure evil. With a body count that would make jack the ripper and ted bundy look on in horror. He vowed to make her pay for everything she's done. But first. He had to save his friend. After entering a medicine room. A dolls head flew through the window. And when he picked it up. Red eyeballs came in to the room as well. After fighting his way out of the red eye swarm. The poison was gone. In a side room was the dolls body. When he picked it up. Another cheap scare in the form of roaches happened. The garden was now crimson red. The white flower was gone. But a note was left on the bench that said "thank you for sparing me." the masked boy didn't understand. He never had any intention of harming her. After backtracking to the doll room that was before the garden. He put the purple on its rightful pedestal along with it's sisters. And in doing so revealing a hidden hole.
He jumped down. After walking through a black void. He found another door and in doing so. He found a hallway that was…bright. Like the sun was out. But that warmth was gone as soon as he entered the bedroom a blood stained bed was in the middle. A final diary was found it only had one sentence.
"YOU AREN'T LEAVING MY HOUSE ALIVE DANIEL!" written in crimson red. The room became darker as a legless girl with pale skin and no eyes with long blue hair crawled towards him. He fell to this knees and hugged her.
"Viola…you must be in so much pain right now…i promise i'll get you your body back. Ellen will pay for this deception." daniel said. His masks mouth opens and swallows viola's soul. "W-what did you do!?" daniel asked.
"You didn't want her to be in that rotting carcass didn't you?" the mask asked.
"Don't worry about me danny…i'm fine. It seems my soul is now in this mask…i'm so sorry danny…why didn't i listen to you?" viola asked. Her voice filled with regret.
"You are just too kind hearted for your own good…something that witch took advantage off. And she'll pay for it…let's get out of here." daniel said. As soon as the masked boy stood up. The house began to collapse. This was the witch's final attempt to kill him. He made a run for it. Various monster's tried to get in his way only to be cut down by the masked boy's katana. The house soon fell to pieces…but the masked boy made it out. The roses blocking his way were gone. He made his out of the forest. Only to run into the witch wearing his friend's face.
"I'll admit..I greatly underestimated the power that mask is given you. If i knew you gain such strength. I would have slit your throat." ellen said with a grin.
"Your mistake…now viola will be getting her body back now you damn witch!" daniel yelled with rage. However the witch just giggled.
"Come on you should know that i'm willing to do that…after all…i tried to kill you to keep from that from happening. You really think i would give it up now just because of that mask?" ellen asked with cockyness.
"I know…which is why i'm forcing you to give it back. Terror mask do your thing!" daniel yelled. The masks mouth opened.
"Soul swap!" the mask yelled. And soon viola and ellen's soul switched places. Viola was back in her body. While ellen was now the guest of the terror mask.
"NO! DAMN YOU DANIEL! I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU WITH EVERYTHING I HAVE! I SWEAR ONCE I GET OUT I WILL MAKE YOU SUFFER UNTIL YOU BEG FOR DEATH!" the witch screamed in her mask.
"...make sure she suffers for every victim she's killed." daniel said. The mask chuckled darkly.
"Oh we're gonna have some fun witch." the mask said. With a sigh. Daniel took off the mask.
"Danny!" viola yelled as she ran up and hugged him. "Thank you! Thank you so much!" viola yelled. Daniel hugged her back.
"It's good to have you back…viola." daniel said.
"Viola! Daniel! Where are you two!?" viola's dad yelled. Daniel got up and offered her his hand.
"Come on…time to go home." daniel said with a smile. Viola smiled brightly as the two held hands and walked back home…the witch has been defeated…the masked boy is safe…for now...
