Chapter 2: Power and Darkness

Arendelle Palace
When Madara first set his eyes on Elsa, he had instantly realized that she was not a shinobi and definitely not a member of the Hyoton users. Her form was far too fragile to have seen any combat and her dress clung to her thin frame that many men would have drooled at the sight of her. While her beauty was definitely nothing to laugh at, it was not something he cared for nor needed. He was trapped in this world and with no way back to his own he had no true goal within this world that he had landed in. Although he still possessed the Rinnegan and Sharingan, he was able to keep both concealed until he decided to use the Sharingan to see if the Princess had a chakra network. When he activated the Uchiha bloodline he had expected to see the unstable core that she no doubt possessed but instead found a bright bluish-white flame that roared under the scrutiny of his prized Sharingan that immediately deciphered the difference between her power core and a chakra system. Which also allowed him to realize that there was something wrong with whatever she possessed that housed the power. The power core almost seemed to be trying its best to escape her yet was also being repelled by a blackish mist that seemed to cling to the girl. Perhaps this was the cause for her instability. When she had seen his eyes change, she had been so startled that her core had rapidly gone out of control with her rising fear taking a hold of her and refusing to let go. At that moment he could also see the black mist that seemed to be exuding negative emotions which no doubt caused her powers to get even more out of control. Ice began to spread from her feet and her body trembled as snow began to fall inside the confines of the throne room. Witnessing their daughter losing control, the king and queen immediately stood up and attempted to reach their daughter to prevent a catastrophe from happening to the Uchiha. However, just as they stood up from their thrones, Madara had already appeared before her and placed his forefinger against her forehead. At that moment, time seemed to have stopped as the snow froze in midair and the ice halted its advance. Even Elsa herself froze from the sudden close proximity of Madara and his finger on her forehead. A moment later, Madara drew his finger back and with it a dark mist could be seen being dragged out of Elsa's forehead. However, as he prepared to absorb the mist, the throne room suddenly changed into that of an icy palace with all the walls and floors seemingly made of ice and the temperature suddenly dropped by a few degrees. A chilling and heavy pressure began to waft into the room and the inhabitants frantically looked around in search of danger. After a few seconds of freezing fear, the king and queen moved to stand beside their daughter and attempted to hold her so as to calm her down. When they moved their hands to lay them on her shoulders, a voice suddenly screeched out in a horrible grating tone that sounded impossibly unpleasant.
"She belongs to ME mortal!" The voice screamed and out of one of the walls in front of them came a dark mist that soon collected itself and formed a barely recognizable shape of a woman. The being's eyes opened and they shown a chilling blue that seemed to scream of hatred as they set themselves on the form of the trembling Princess who all but was ready to fall on her knees in fear and despair. When the being moved to grab the Princess, Madara finally turned his head and froze the being with but a glance into his Sharingan that slowly morphed themselves into his Eternal Mangekyou.
"Hm… Interesting. Interesting indeed." Madara's monotonous voice suddenly took on a sort of amusement and curiosity has he studied the being in front of them with his eyes. He could see that they were inside the mindscape of the Princess and this must have been a manifestation of her negative emotions which had turned itself into a literal being of darkness that sought to make her consciousness theirs.
"Be a good girl and leave the poor girl alone would you." Madara's amused voiced intoned to the being as it suddenly seemed to have realized that it could not move. It screeched and struggled with fury as it attempted to escape the seemingly impossible hold that Madara had on it. Raising his hands Madara flew through handsigns in the span of a few microseconds and raised his connected hands to his lips before calling out a string of unrecognizable words.
"Katon: Goka Mekkyaku!" His voice rang with power as a stream of powerful flames exploded out of his mouth and seemed to envelop the entirety of the being's body as it screeched in pain and anger. The flames soon blocked the other occupant's view of the creature and could only stand dumbfounded at the obvious display of power that Madara had demonstrated. All of a sudden the screeching stopped and their surroundings returned to that of the throne room. The king and queen hurriedly swivelled their heads around as if expecting the dark mist to suddenly appear and exact terrible vengeance upon them. When they had looked around frantically and fearfully for a few more minutes, they finally directed their focus back on their daughter who had apparently fainted but was caught by Madara who placed his hand which was now glowing green against her forehead. A few seconds later, the king and queen finally found their voices and posed the question that had been on their minds ever since the encounter with trembling voices.
"W-W-What was that?" Agnarr asked quietly and uncertainly. He was not yet sure if he had imagined the entire ordeal or if what they had seen was merely a stress-induced hallucination. Given that he was sure it was not only him that had experienced it but also his wife and daughter, he was under the impression there was far more to their daughter's powers than they had realized. With that, he and his wife could only look to the only person who could possibly give them an explanation for the frankly chilling and mind-traumatizing experience.
"That was her darkness. The darkness that exists within all those who have suffered a great deal of mental trauma. Tell me did she lose someone close to her when she was younger?" Madara explained and inquired as his red eyes met those of the king's even as he continued to place his glowing palm on Elsa's forehead.
"What are you doing to Elsa?" Iduna finally asked before Agnarr could formulate a response to Madara's question. The curious yet no less guarded look in her eyes caused Madara to look down at Elsa's unconscious body as he took a moment to figure out how to explain the Mystic Palm to the royals without making them more emotionally unstable than they already were.
"I am healing her by using some of my chakra to coax her own body to heal itself faster." He finally responded in what he hoped was a simple enough explanation to her question. Although she had no idea what chakra was, she figured it was the equivalent of magic and decided to trust that Madara was healing her daughter.
"When she was younger, Elsa and her sister would often play together and Elsa would use her ice magic to make their times more enjoyable. However, one night when they were playing, Elsa accidentally hit Anna with her ice while trying to save Anna from falling. We took them to see the trolls in the forest who were able to heal Anna and from then Elsa has been kept apart from Anna to prevent a similar event from happening." Agnarr finally offered as explanation to Madara's earlier inquiry.
Madara was sure that the king was leaving something out but decided not to push it. Besides, it was inconsequential. The thought of almost killing one's family was enough in most cases to cause a darkness to grow within their subconscious. He had suspected as much when he had first seen the darkness within Elsa but now he was sure. The way her powers were tamed back then versus the way it wrecked havoc whenever she felt negative was similar to the way in which he had unlocked his own Sharingan and later on his Mangekyou.
"Tell me, do you have fire magic?" Iduna asked with a small amount of trepidation in reference to the fire technique that Madara had utilized earlier during the encounter with the dark mist creature. Agnarr's eyes and the tensing of his shoulders also served to demonstrate his own sense of unease from witnessing such destructive power. Although he had already suspected Madara to be magical to a degree, he had not thought he would be in possession of such powerful magic that made Elsa's seem like a small snow storm in the face of a raging inferno. He would not judge Madara based on his possessing of magic but he would withhold his perception of him until he figured he could truly trust him.
"What I did is not fire magic but merely one of many techniques that I utilize as part of my arsenal." Madara provided as an answer. One that was both an answer and one that left the king and queen with even more questions than answers.
"Techniques?" Iduna inquired softly.
"Indeed. I use my chakra to create a multitude of effects that result in the various techniques that I use to suit every possible situation." Madara answered calmly. With that said, he stopped his current technique and the glow around his hand finally faded until his hands appeared just as normal as the king and queen's. The memory of what it had done would be forever seared into their memory however. It was not everyday that they would meet someone who had similar yet such different powers to that of their daughter's. The king and queen nodded in acceptance of his answer and looked back to their daughter once they noticed his hand had stopped glowing. They allowed a small semblance of a smile to take over their faces as Madara handed their daughter back to them to hold. As they held her, they could not take their focus off the peaceful expression that their daughter displayed as she slept in their arms. Soon enough the queen took Elsa back to her room and layed her on the bed while she sat beside her. The queen then placed a gentle kiss on her daughter's forehead and finally felt a sense of peace wash over her. With that she stood up and left the room to let her daughter rest.
—
Her eyes fluttered open and she saw the blurry ceiling of her room stare back at her as she attempted to rub the sleep out of her eyes. She made to turn over and sleep more when she suddenly felt the sheets of her mattress and the softness of her pillows. Her dazzling blue eyes shot open and sleep fled from her as she looked around frantically in search of something. When she realized there was no one here but her, she relaxed a little but then remembered the various events that had happened a few days prior. Her eyes widened even more and she stood up on wobbly feet and made her way to her restroom to clean herself up. She had some questions she needed answered and she needed them answered now. When she finished her morning routine and looked up at the mirror, she suddenly realized that she didn't feel the usual gripping feeling of dread and fear that followed her every waking moment and often haunted her dreams. She felt better than she had in the past few years ever since that incident with Anna in the throne room. How she had hurt her sister and almost killed her, how she had to live with. No. She would not let her mind go down that path as she refocused on combing her hair and setting them back into the braid that she wore everyday. She had to keep herself from feeling the sadness again. "Don't Feel" her father had told her. Yet no matter how hard she had tried, she simply could not block out her feelings for her family and the fear of accidentally hurting any of them continuously plagued her thoughts. Ever since that incident with her sister she had even refused her parents to hold her out of fear of losing control. But the events which happened in the throne room with that mysterious Uchiha had brought some things that simply refused to make sense no matter how hard she tried to think on them. Thus, her only option was to confront her parents about it and perhaps get their explanation.
When she finished brushing her hair, she quickly donned her dress and gloves before making her way out of her frozen room and left in search of her parents. Given the time of day, they would most likely be about to have breakfast in the dining hall. Perhaps she should have thought it out more, but she had failed to contain her need to get an answer about that event so she had forgotten about her sister's possible presence at breakfast. When she pushed open the dining hall's great doors she was suddenly aware of the presence of her sister sitting there in her seat to their mother's left with her mouth hanging wide open and a piece of toast midway to her mouth. Her parents were similarly in shock as they had not thought she would come out of her room without their permission for her safety and that of everyone else's.
"E-E-Elsa?" A tiny choked voice called to her in an intensely trembling voice that held back the sorrow to which it belonged. She looked over at the sound's origins and met the watery eyes of her sister Anna. Oh how she had missed her. She attempted to hold back her own feelings of sorrow and gave Anna a tentative smile she hoped would be sufficient for her sister.
"Hey Anna." Her own voice was similarly quiet yet still rang like a bell in the silent hall as she fought to keep her voice from trembling in grief and self-loathing as memories wrestled with her consciousness to make itself known in the forefront of her mind. She could feel the gravitational pull of her fears pulling her down even as she felt her control begin to slip. She mustered up her courage and went to sit opposite of Anna on her father's right. A hearty yet simple breakfast made of toast, eggs, and some fruits were quickly laid out in front of her.
"Good morning Father, Mother." She heard her own voice say near automatically as she felt her parent's eyes on her. Turning her focus from them to her breakfast she attempted to eat while gathering her thoughts on how she should ask her parents about this Uchiha Madara and the subsequent events that passed in the throne room. Even as she tried to ignore the stunned stares of her sister and parents, she could feel her tight control slip even further and as she glanced to where her hand rested on the tablecloth of the table, she spotted a minute appearance of frost as it slowly expanded to cover some of the utensils.
"Good Morning Elsa." Her father finally spoke after what felt like hours of silence and she finally dared to look up to meet her parents' eyes that shown with uncertainty and confusion. She took a deep breath and attempted a smile then she finally spoke after seemingly ignoring their stares.
"Mother, Father. I would like to talk to you about a matter of importance if you have the time after breakfast." Her voice came out in a slight tremble as she fought to control her nerves with the presence of her sister that she was well aware of. Anna continued to stare at her even as she slowly began to eat her breakfast once more. Of course, slow in Anna's terms was still far faster than anyone else at the table and by the time her father had offered an answer, Anna was already done and sat there as if expecting some kind of explanation.
"Of course Elsa. We have some time. We would also wish for the two of you to properly meet Mr. Uchiha who came to use a few days ago. Anna. We also need to talk to you later along with Elsa but for the time being enjoy your breakfast and we shall converse later." Her father's voice was final and brokered no argument as he too set about himself to finish his breakfast.
With the affairs of breakfast finished, they made their way to her father's study for the conversation and questions that was no doubt about to present themselves. When they arrived at the study, her father instructed the guards posted outside that they were not to be disturbed for the time being. With that, they settled themselves into the chairs that lay around the around before once again looking at each other. While her mother and father convened in a whispered debate, she turned her attention to Anna whose blue eyes looked into hers with hurt that she tried to hide. She hated herself even more after seeing the emotions her sister tried to hide from all those times she had shut and pushed everyone away. When she opened her mouth to offer an apology for all the times that she had pushed her sister away, she suddenly felt her throat dry out as a voice in the back of her head whispered doubts and fears. Apologize? You think an apology is going to mend the rift that has appeared between you and Anna? She probably hates you for all the times you pushed her and everyone away. While you were isolated, she too was isolated to an extent. By pushing her away you had taken away one of the things that she adored. Her sister and best friend. The thoughts were not wrong and no matter how hard she tried to justify her and her parents' reasoning for locking her away, she couldn't feel as if they could have done something differently. All thoughts were halted when there was a knock at the door and her parents turned back to them.
"Come in." Her father commanded in his regal tone that hid an undertone of nervousness as he wrung his hands in front of him just as she was doing at the moment. She was afraid of who was about to come in and she checked her control again as she noticed some light frost covering her hands from her nerves.
The door was opened and a dark silhouette appeared in the doorway. He was quite tall for his age which she guessed was around her's. Dressed in all navy blue, from his long cloak that seemed to extend all the way past his knees to his pants that were visible, the person was covered completely with only their fingers showing through the fingerless gloves that he wore. His dark spiky hair that looked wild and untamed flew in every direction and flowed behind his back framed a youthful face that had twin black orbs that stared and analyzed them unflinchingly and almost uncaringly. A sharp chin rested on his face as his eyes met hers in an intimidating manner that brought up the gigantic sea of flames that he had seemingly summoned out of his mouth just the other day in the throne room. His walk was silent and his shoes left no indication he had even been there. Her father motioned for him to sit in a chair that he had placed next to him but still a distance from the rest of the family. A sign that he too was feeling unnerved by the presence that exuded from this man.
"Good morning Mr. Uchiha! Come sit, we have much to discuss." Her father attempted to speak in a jovial tune to lighten the atmosphere to no avail as she could hear the slight trembling in his voice even as he sounded like he was just greeting another old friend. Although the trepidation that he had shown when they first met Madara was now far more tame and his posture while still tense was slightly more relaxed. Madara finally sat himself on the seat offered and once more let his gaze travel from each family member to the next. When his gaze landed on Anna, he furrowed his brow and she realized he had never met her sister and thus was most likely not sure why she was here. A second later and her father started to speak about the reasons for this meeting.
"Anna, Elsa has already met him, but this is Madara Uchiha. He came to us a few days ago and we have offered him a guest room in the palace because of what he has to offer us. Now, before we proceed with the other things, I need you to swear that you will never reveal what happens in this room to anyone until the time is right do you understand?" Her father's voice was set in a tone that specified just how important this condition was and she saw her sister nod slightly though still confusedly as she was still uncertain about the stranger that was sitting next to father.
"Yes father, I swear to keep this a secret." She finally answered after some time. Her tone was quiet and she was still uncertain as evidenced by the questioning tone she adopted when giving her vow of silence.
"Good. I feel that what we have done to the both of you was unfair and after much conversing with Madara, we have decided to explain the need we felt to lock Elsa away and keep the two of you apart. Elsa, please give a small demonstration of what you can do and Madara, if you would, please make sure she doesn't lose control." Her father said. She looked at him uncertainly but to his and her mother's nods, she took a deep breath to calm herself before beginning by gently placing her hands a short distance apart in front of her and began channeling her power into a small snowball.
"What do you mean what she can do?" Anna's question died in her throat as she witnessed the small snowball take shape between Elsa's hands and a second later her sister dispelled the snowball and it evaporated in the air as a silence descended upon the 2: Power and Darkness

"What do you mean what she can do?" Anna's question died in her throat as she witnessed the small snowball take shape between Elsa's hands and a second later her sister dispelled the snowball and it evaporated in the air as a silence descended upon the room.
