Chapter 6: Sorceress!

8 PM, July 29th, 1844

Arendelle Palace, Royal Ballroom

When she prepared herself for her coronation with her sister by her side, she reminded herself to keep a tight lid over her powers and used the breathing techniques that Madara had taught her. With her mind calm and her regal stature secured, she had given the order for the gates to be opened. When she had looked to her sister and saw her eagerness, she had given her permission to have fun before reminding her sister to be back for the coronation. After that the coronation went off without a hitch and she was happy to finally see that her control had improved such that even with nerves, she didn't have any cases of accidentally setting off her power. With the coronation over, she had started off the subsequent party and prepared herself to fend off the delegations sent by the various countries. One by one they had approached her to with their own congratulations and inquiries that she strategically postponed so as to appease everyone. Her father had taught her well in terms of handling the politics that came with ruling and so she felt she had succeeded in maintaining the peace between Arendelle and the surrounding countries. However, just when she felt nothing could possibly ruin her string of good lucks, she spotted her sister making her way through the crowd of dancing people towing a stranger dressed smartly in princely attire. As soon as she had seen that her guard had instantly been raised and she schooled her features to receive this next case of overenergetic sister who apparently had found someone.

"Elsa this is Prince Hans of the Southern Isles. I met him earlier today and well I… uh I mean we have agreed to marry and so I ask for your blessing for us to wed!" Anna's exuberant tone immediately set off warning bells in her head as she found her actions odd. Even though she knew her sister was not exactly one who adhered to rules, she wasn't the type of girl to go run off and fall in love with the first man that crossed her path. Even if that man was a prince.

"Wait what? Anna. Can I talk to you for a second?" She attempted to calm down the brunette who only seemed to recoil as if struck.

"No. Anything you want to say to me, you can say to the both of us." Her sister's even tone made Elsa even more on guard against what might have caused her sister's sudden change in personality. When she realised that she wasn't going to get anywhere by being polite, she resorted to using her authoritative voice.

"Well then. The answer is no."

"Why not?"

"Anna you can't marry someone who you just met!"

"You can if its true love."

Her sister's final answer brought her mind up to a halt. True love? What did Anna know about true love? She may have read all those romance stories but she definitely had no clue as to what dating or being married truly entailed. This Hans marrying Anna would only serve to bring Hans into a higher station as he would then be next in line to the throne. Wait. The throne. Was this the real reason why Prince Hans had agreed to marry Anna? He definitely didn't look in love with her no matter how much he attempted to pretend he was. He could see the agitation clear as day in his eyes when their eyes met. All of a sudden a voice intruded on her thoughts and she recoiled in alarm.

'You will allow me to marry her'

With the order that resounded in her mind, she suddenly felt a pressure in her mind which felt as if it was suffocating her and she stumbled back. All of a sudden she felt the pressure increase and her power began to manifest itself in response to this perceived threat. Madara. Where was Madara? Her thoughts became wild and she fought hard to alleviate the pressure that threatened to take her control from her. The pressure increased again and her powers exploded from her in a sudden force of icy coldness that coated the ground beneath her in a layer of ice and for sharp icicles to expand from around her protectively. Madara was suddenly there and when he laid his hand on her shoulder she suddenly felt the pressure recede completely and her hold on her power returned. The ice melted then evaporated but the silence that descended upon the room told her everything she had feared. The delegates had seen her powers. Further evidenced by the Duke of Weselton who began shouting accusations at her and ordering his men to arrest her.

"Sorceress! Seize the queen!"

"No! Don't come close to me!" She began panicking at the sight of the men advancing on her with their swords drawn and attempted to freeze their path to her by making light ice appear on the ground. However, when instead of light ice, spikes of jagged ice appeared instead, she trembled and looked back but found that Madara had already drawn his own sword and was standing at the ready to defend her. When she saw that they were surrounded and there was no way for her or her bodyguard to do anything without causing collateral damage, she turned and ran straight for the doors as ice followed where her feet had touched the ground. She had to get away from them before they caused havoc. She had to get away from them and so she ran. She ran without any semblance of direction and fled where her power guided her as tears of frustration leaked from her eyes. With a burst of speed, she emerged into the streets of Arendelle and continued to run until she felt her lack of air catch up to her and she had to rest. With panting breaths, she looked up and noticed that she had arrived at the snowy mountains North of Arendelle. As she gathered her emotions and her strength, she began the climb up the mountain to its peak all the while letting her all consuming emotions to finally break free from her chest in a song that she sung to the heavens.
