Chapter 7: Elsa

9 PM, July 29th, 1844

Arendelle Mountain Range

When she had seen her sister run off and Madara fighting off the group of men who suddenly appeared, she had immediately let go of Hans and went off in pursuit of her sister. She needed to get to her so that she could explain herself more. However, just as she exited the palace, she noticed the entirety of the fjord frozen solid and snow had begun to fall over Arendelle. With the people also coming out to see the strange phenomenon with both awe and fear, Anna felt the need to find her sister even more.

"The Queen is a sorceress! We need to arrest her immediately!" The yell of the Duke of Weselton jolted her from her momentary confusion of the sudden change in weather. She hastily ordered everyone to stay in Arendelle while she went in search of her sister to get her to reverse the spell. With that, she mounted her horse and took off in a gallop towards where she could see her sister had run towards given the icy path that made itself a glaring trail from the cobblestone ground of the street. With the wind whipping her hair and the biting cold numbing her senses, she failed to notice when a black blur sped past her and disappeared. She wrote it off as her senses playing tricks on her because of the cold as she galloped across the frozen lake and headed towards the mountains. She needed to get to Elsa now.

—O—

Madara cursed as he parried another blow from the goon he was fighting as he saw Elsa escape and run off to Kami knows where. He needed to end this quickly and go after her to ensure she did not accidentally lose too much control. He did not know what had happened between her and her sister but it definitely caused her control to slip for a few moments which were enough for the nobles and delegates to witness her powers. He spotted the trajectory of the goon's sword as it descended and swiftly brought his own to parry it. The moment it was parried he flashed his sharingan and the goons fell to the ground in a heap as he used the Shunshin to disappear and reappear on one of the roofs of the buildings on the outskirts of Arendelle. There he spotted Anna making her way onto the frozen fjord and he quickly took off in the direction she was no doubt headed in. After running at breakneck speeds for a while, he expanded his senses and quickly pinpointed the location of Elsa. Not that he had to try all that hard since she was shining like a beacon in a storm with the amount of power she was releasing. So once he located her he once again used the Shunshin and quickly appeared at the gate she had built to her little ice palace. Women and there need to have palaces. He could never understand the women's need to live in such places. When he heard her song he had already realised something had cracked and she was losing herself in desperation. Instead of knocking on the door, he used the Kamui and made his body intangible before going through the solid ice door. Once he appeared on the opposite side he heard the end of her song and began walking in that direction. When he made it to the door to the balcony which was opened wide, he heard her say how the cold never bothered her anyway before turning around and spotting him. She froze and he froze.

"Elsa? What are you wearing?" He inquired curiously. He was pretty sure she did not bring a change of clothes with her when she ran. So what the actual hell was she wearing? And why did almost feel like they weren't really clothes but rather ice?

"Oh! I made these. I didn't know I could but I guess my powers growing meant I could do more now too." Elsa replied almost as if she was concerned what he thought about her attire. He could practically feel the awkwardness of the situation as Elsa stared at him waiting for him to say something. Anything.

"Hmm. To be able to make clothes out of Ice. I'm impressed with the rate of growth you're showing. Truly interesting." He finally offered before he used his sharingan to check her magical core for any disturbance. When he didn't find any he decided to seek the one who could answer him most aptly.

"With the amount of training I had given you in these three years you shouldn't have lost control like that. Not that easily and almost as if without cause. Did anything happen with your sister that caused your powers to blow up?" His questioning stare made her realise the truth. It hadn't been because of her lack of control but rather there seemed to be something that caused her power to suddenly respond in a violent manner. In her haste to leave she had forgotten about the pressure she had felt that seemed to suffocate her and caused her powers to explode and become unstable.

"There was a pressure. I think. When I looked at Prince Hans, I suddenly heard a voice telling, no, compelling me to allow my sister to marry him. When that happened I panicked a little and tried to figure out the source of the voice. But then I felt a pressure and it continued to build and made my head hurt. I think that's when I felt my power suddenly become unstable and my control started slipping. But by then my control was already on the brink of nonexistence. There was nothing I could do.." Elsa said the last part quietly and uncertainly. Her eyes became saddened when she thought she had failed her teacher and friend. When she looked back up at him, his face had taken on a slight frown as he contemplated her words carefully and analyzed every detail about the supposed attack. After a moment he raised his eyes to meet hers and he finally offered her an explanation.

"I know that power. I've encountered it the night your parents were reported dead. During the storm I met a cloaked individual who could use the same technique you mentioned. A sort of hypnotic mind control that he tried on me. Of course, since I possess the Sharingan, all forms of mind magic do not work on me. However, given that you said Hans appeared to have utilized the same technique against you, it would fit how his technique could have caused your own to suddenly rise against the threat which resulted in you losing control." Madara explained.

He could see Elsa breath a sigh of relief as he finished his explanation and was glad to see that she still possessed the controls that he had taught her. Good thing that she didn't lose them just from one encounter with another who had powers. As lowly as the power is, it poses quite a threat to those around them. However one thing didn't make sense.

"You mentioned Anna asking for your blessing for her to marry this Prince Hans?" Madara asked.

"Yes. She did. I found it odd too. Anna's not one to suddenly fall for a stranger she just met. Also her eyes took on a sort of glazed look to them when she last talked to me." She answered. Then she looked down and wrung her hands together as if she felt that she had failed. In some ways he could understand her feeling. Although it was no fault of her own but rather this Hans. Which by now he had a strong suspicion was the same man that had tried infiltrating Arendelle three years prior. The powers were the same. Not to mention now that he thought about it, he did give off the same energy signature as that of the cloaked man. He cursed himself for having been lulled into a sense of security from the lack of battle he had to participate in other than the short skirmishes that happened between Arendelle and some bandits in the surrounding areas. Those were always far too short for his liking but what could he expect from untrained idiots who thought themselves strong just because they preyed on the weak. He withheld his revelation about Hans and thus about the possibility of Anna being under his control. It was entirely possible since Anna did not have a magical core and thus was susceptible to Hans's hypnotic ability. It was far more plausible that he had placed the thoughts of them being true love in her mind. The technique also irritated him because of the similarities it shared with the Sharingan's own ability to cast genjutsu through eye contact. No matter, his Sharingan was infinitely more powerful than whatever this Hans possessed. Should he show his face again he would verify the facts for himself before taking any further actions. Best not to accidentally kill an innocent Prince of one of Arendelle's allies. His thoughts were put on hold when a knock came from the great double doors of the palace.
