Chapter 1: Sameer's skills

Sameer Khan was dribbling the soccer ball in the zone of the opposing middle school soccer team, Los Cerros Middle School. Sameer was the center striker on the Banville Junior High School soccer team. He and his best friend, Reese Garrick, were both starting players on the school's soccer team and enjoyed what they were doing. Soccer was Sameer's favorite sport, and he knew it was Reese's favorite sport as well.

Sameer continued guiding the ball, not allowing the defensive backs to steal possession of the ball. Sameer charged forward with the ball. Once he got close enough to the opposing team's goal, he kicked the ball and watched it enter the net.

Yes! Sameer had scored again. The score was Banville Junior High School 3, Los Cerros Middle School 0.

"Way to go, Sameer!", Reese shouted from his attacking midfielder position.

Sameer felt proud of himself. He had scored two of Banville Junior High School's goals. Why shouldn't he be proud of himself? He felt like he had accomplished his purpose in this game. Now they just had to keep it going for the second half.

Just then, the referee blew his whistle, signaling the end of the first half. Sameer, Reese, and the other players on the Banville Junior High School soccer team huddled around their coach.

Just one more half, Sameer thought. We can do this.
