AUTHORS NOTE
Hi everyone. I'm feeling like I'm getting back into my writing after years (Sorry) of not publishing new chapters of stories.
Anyway, I was re-watching Teen Titans and decided on an OC insert story with them. The plan for this story is two episodes per chapter, merging them into a single story and adding something at the start, middle and end focused on my OC Thomas 'Tom'.
I have no idea what will happen, but I know I'm changing some things so Tom is actually contributing some things in the missions and all of season one has happened except the episodes 'Nevermore' and 'Switched'. I'm doing those later.
They may not focus on the actual timeline of the episodes but I'll do my best to merge them seamlessly. *Fingers Crossed* I am also using transcripts from the Teen Titan 2003 series wiki to get the dialogue right, so there will be places where it is word for word.
Anyway, enjoy the chapter.
Disclaimer: I DO NOT OWN TEEN TITANS, THE CHARACTERS OR THE PLOT. ONLY MY OC.
Please read, review and rate.
This was supposed to be my new start. My family and I moved to Jump City to get away from the criminal rising of Gotham City. I was upset at leaving my friends with those psychotic criminals but my dad had been offered a transfer to Jump City and he jumped at the chance. Pun not intended.
I wasn't due to start school for another week so we could get settled in our new apartment.
Right now, it was a Sunday so at least if I went to the park, I could try to make some friends. As it turned out, I was reading a book underneath a tree.
I heard a small whine from the other side of the tree. I peeked around to see a green dog laying down and looking depressed.
I had heard a few rumours about animals being green that should never be green seen around Jump City. I never put stock in them. Until now.
I shuffled around the tree until I was next to the dog. I don't know if it felt my presence, but I decided to keep the dog company and began reading aloud for the dogs benefit.
I knew it realised I was there when it put its head on my leg. I closed my book and began to slowly stroke its head. It looked up at me with what looked like a questioning look in its eyes.
"I guess I felt lonely." I answered. "And being a green dog must be hard." The dog nodded. "You must be part of the green animals I've heard about. I never believed the stories. I mean, green cats and dogs. Even dinosaurs and pterodactyls have been seen. Why would people say those things? They can't be true."
Just as the dog lifted its head, I heard a humming noise. I looked in the sky and dropped my jaw. There was an honest-to-goodness FLYING SAUCER hovering above me and the dog.
I looked down as a second green dog raced towards us. It looked at my green dog and then back at the saucer.
As a thin beam of light hit the ground and travelled quickly to the three of us, the newer green dog quickly ran away as the light hit my green dog.
It started to lift the dog from the ground. I don't know why, but I jumped up and grabbed the dog. Technically, it was the first friend I made in Jump City. I was pulled up into the saucer.
When I reopened my eyes, I noticed through a windscreen that it was darker. Was I unconscious? I looked around and saw that there was barely anything. I squinted my eyes and noticed something unusual. If that board was the controls to this thing, it looked like a toddlers soundboard or something.
"Dude, you ok?" asked a voice.
I looked at the source and saw a boy who looked about fifteen or sixteen; my age just F.Y.I. "Who are you?"
He pulled at what looked like a large metal collar. "I'm the green dog you kept company at the park. I liked the story. I'm Beast Boy."
"That's your name? Beast Boy?" I asked, knowing it was a codename.
"Well, it's a codename." He answered. "All the members of the Titans use their codenames as normal names." He then thought. "Actually I think three of us do, maybe four."
"Titans?"
He seemed shocked at this. "You haven't heard of the Titans? How is that possible?"
"Well, I have just moved here. Today in fact." I answered. "And I've been abducted by a flying saucer. What a day!" I said sarcastically.
"All I wanted was to spend some time with someone but they were all too busy with other stuff." Beast Boy sighed. "When some girls were cooing over a dog, I thought I'd get some attention, but they practically ran away from me. I decided to lay down by a tree when this kind guy decided to read to me. It took my mind off of things."
I knew he was talking about me. "Well, you seemed lonely."
"Ok new doggy and friend." A mature, yet childish voice announced. "Soto take you home now."
Beast Boy and I looked at each other. "Home?" he asked.
"Soto home planet on far side of galaxy." The alien with a rock head replied.
"But my home is on this planet." I argued.
Soto, as his name was, turned around and looked like he was about to cry. "You not want to see Soto home?"
"I'd love to see another planet but…" I started but was interrupted.
"Yay! Soto show you his home." Soto cheered and began to press buttons.
I realised that I never had a collar on. "Why don't I have one of those collars?"
"You're not his pet."
I wondered what he meant when I felt the ground shake slightly. I looked around and ran to a small window and saw the earth was slowly moving away. "We're going into the air."
"Goodbye." Beast Boy sighed to himself.
I walked back over to Beast Boy and put a hand on his shoulder. The spaceship rocked violently, causing me to hit the floor hard.
Beast boy helped me to my feet. "Are you ok?"
"I think so. What happened?" I asked.
"Soto want up! Not down!" Soto cried out, like he was having a tantrum.
The saucer steadied as it was forced to land. I stepped back as four spikes of darkness came from the floor and ripped the door open, still leaving it on its hinges. "What was that?"
Soto ran past me and Beast Boy and jumped out of the ship.
Beast Boy had the first smile I saw on him. And it was wide! "Help."
I heard Soto mention his new dog and friend, then it sounded like a fight broke out. As much as I wanted to stay out of the fight, I would have to at least risk it if I wanted to escape.
"Stupid collar." Beast Boy grumbled.
I looked back at Beast Boy and rushed to him. "Let go of the collar."
"Dude, I have to get it off if I'm going to help." He argued.
"Let me have a go." I said, looking over the collar.
It was a tense minute as the fight went on outside. We both flinched as it seemed that our rescuers were losing.
"I don't want to hurry you but…" Beast boy seemed fidgety, and for good reason.
"If you can turn into a dog, can you turn into anything else?" I asked.
"I already tried turning into a fish to get out." Beast Boy shot down the idea.
"There has to be something else." I insisted. "He had to be able to put this collar on. So there has to be a way to take it off." Someone outside mentioned something about a laser cannon as I found a very small button. "There's a button back here, but it needs something long and thin to get it."
Beast Boy seemed to quickly melt into a rattlesnake and looked right at me. His head seemed to look around to the collar, which I had noticed shrunk with him. I realised what he wanted.
"Sorry, but I've got this thing about snakes." I explained. He hissed at me and looked at the collar. "Ok, ok, I get it."
I gingerly grabbed his tail and tried to press the button. I then realised something. There was another way. I held the collar and slowly pulled Beast Boy through the collar. He began hissing and struggling against me, so I pulled a little faster. The collar shifted sizes as he moved through. The collar seemed to stop shifting sizes when only his mouth was to come out. Then he seemed to get stuck.
I clicked my fingers. "Can you become a swordfish?"
He instantly changed and managed to slip out of the collar. He quickly changed into his human form and waved bye as he rushed outside and quickly changed into an elephant. I saw him charge Soto and knock him to the ground. I picked up the collar and ran outside as Soto pulled out a controller.
"Bad Dog! Soto punish!" he called.
He pressed the button. I looked down at the collar. That's why he didn't escape. If he did, that alien would shock him! After several more presses of the controller, I gave out a loud whistle.
Everyone looked at me as I spun the collar on my hand. "Not today cry-baby." I smirked.
Using the distraction, Beast Boy had become a T-Rex and roared at Soto. Soto ran away as the others, whom I assume to be the Titans that Beast Boy was telling me about, made one final attack and managed to blast a new crater in the ground, with Soto at the bottom of it.
We all gathered at the edge and looked down at him. He looked like he had just had a severe telling off.
I couldn't help but feel a little sorry for him. Then the collar was suddenly ripped from my hand and something long and pink wrapped the collar on Soto.
It turned out that Soto had taken Beast Boy because he thought he was another green dog. Only this one could talk.
I couldn't believe my eyes and ears as Soto made the decision to be the dog for a while. I watched the saucer fly into the air and out of sight.
The other titans greeted Beast Boy and I couldn't help the smile that came on my face. It was sweet.
"How about we all go for pizza?" the one in the navy hood suggested.
"Sounds good to me." The cyborg smiled. And don't think I wasn't surprised at that!
The four of them began to walk away. I took a step with them then looked back as I realised Beast Boy wasn't following. "Beast Boy?" I asked, making the other Titans realise they were leaving him behind.
"Aren't you coming?" the one who looked like…was that…
"Robin? As in…?"
"Yeah that's me." He quickly answered me before turning to Beast Boy. "Come on."
"Thanks. But if it's cool with you guys, I've kind of had enough attention for one day."
I smiled inwardly at the slightly dark joke he had made. Even if he didn't mean to make it. "Just set tomorrow aside as a day for yourself." I suggested.
"That could be difficult." Robin replied. "We were going to have a training day tomorrow."
"Actually, that may be a good thing." The cyborg thought. "I can add a little something new to the course."
"Come on." I said, putting an arm around Beast Boy. "I'm buying. How about a nice cheesy pizza?"
"I don't eat meat." Beast Boy told me.
"That's fine." I smiled. "I prefer to have just cheesy pizza's anyway."
"Who are you anyway?" Beast Boy asked. "I never got the chance to ask."
"I'm Thomas. But you can call me Tom." I answered. "Besides, I think almost being abducted is an automatic free pass at that kind of stuff."
My phone began to buzz in my pocket. I pulled it out and saw my dad was calling me. I flipped it open and waited for his shouting to calm down. "Dad, I have a good excuse for not calling."
"What is it?" he sighed, waiting for my answer.
"I was almost abducted by a childish alien along with a Teen Titan only to be rescued by the rest and now I'm treating them to pizza." I said in one breath.
"I'll let you off the hook on two conditions."
"Name them." I quickly said, taking the easy way out.
"Bring me back a few slices."
"What's the hard condition?" I asked, as was normal in these situations.
"One of these supposed Titans has to bring you home and show me that the story was true." Then he hung up, not giving me the chance to negotiate a better condition.
"What is wrong new friend?" the girl with bright green eyes asked, concerned.
I told them the other condition and they nodded in understanding. "We'll work something out." The girl in the hood said.
I needed to find out their names, which was easy since the cheery girl, Starfire, made some introductions. The cyborg was called Cyborg. Not original but I'm not complaining. It's easy to remember.
The one in the hood was called Raven. Beast Boy made a joke about her being the Queen of Darkness, to which she immediately gained a dark aura, causing Beast Boy to hide behind me. "Dude, I've only just met her but even I can tell you should never get her angry." Raven nodded as Starfire finally introduced Robin as the leader of the Titans.
"So, where do you live?" Robin asked as we all made our way through the small forest.
"An apartment building near the sea." I told them.
"That narrows it down." Raven said. I couldn't tell if she was being sarcastic.
"From my room, I can see a letter 'T' on a small island." I remembered.
They all stopped walking, making me go ahead a few steps. I turned around and looked at their surprised faces. "What?"
"That big 'T' is our home." Beast Boy answered.
"How unrealistic." I said.
"Well it's true." Raven shrugged.
"So what kind of powers do you guys have?" I asked, mainly to pass the time with conversation. "I mean Starfire, Raven and Cyborg."
"Well, I'm an alien." Starfire started but was cut off by Robin.
"Maybe we shouldn't tell him everything."
I was offended at first but instantly realised Robin's reasoning. "Fair enough. You have only just met me."
"I hope that's alright."
"I was offended at first, but realised why you said what you did." I explained. "The whole secrecy thing."
"Robin's just a stick in the mud." Beast Boy teased.
"Let's get Thomas home." Robin said, ignoring Beast Boy.
"And how are you going to do that?" I asked. "Besides, I was going to treat you all to pizza."
"Well, why don't I take Tom home and we can have the pizza tomorrow?" Beast Boy offered.
"And how are you going to do that?" I asked, folding my arms.
Beast Boy took a few steps away and stretched his arms. He then quickly changed into a pterodactyl.
"Well, my dad should definitely believe me if I'm dropped off by a pterodactyl." I smiled, climbing on Beast Boy's back.
My dad instantly believed my story when I was dropped off from outside my apartment. My dad could only mumble when he opened the window and helped me get inside from the back of a green pterodactyl.
The next morning, I looked out of my bedroom window and looked to the 'T' on the island. Part of me had wondered if I dreamt the whole thing by seeing the 'T' and somehow hearing about the Titans.
I walked into the small kitchen and grabbed myself a bowl for some cereal. My dad was already reading the paper before he unpacked a few more boxes.
"So Tom, what's the plan for today?" my dad asked me.
"Well, I was planning to go to the island across the bay." I told him.
"Why?" my dad asked.
"I'm getting pizza with the pterodactyl." I joked.
"If anything like last night happens, at least try to let me know." My dad said.
I laughed but agreed. And twenty minutes later, I realised a problem. There was no way for me to get to the island. There were no boats and I couldn't swim.
I sighed and sat down on the shore. I picked up a stone and throw it into the water. I wish I'd agreed a time with them. Oh well, I guess I could check out a museum or two. It's not like I could have helped dad today anyway. He's dealing with all the electrics and a little DIY work today, so it's best if I stay out of his way.
I stood back and turned back towards the city. I walked through the city and found a little museum that claimed to have some rare clock or something.
I went in and decided to at least see this clock. As it was a little early, I think I was the only one in the building. I found the supposed rare clock, but it didn't impress me. I went to look at something else, when there was a loud bang.
I fell behind a display as I heard a man chuckle. I was no fool, I stayed behind the display.
I heard some calls, then a strange sound. I tried to sneak a glance and saw two officers had been frozen in ice. Actual ice!
I couldn't see who had done that, but that was a good thing as it meant that they hadn't seen me either.
I honestly felt like breaking down and crying, but then something happened.
There was another bang and I heard several more voices. I risked another glance and breathed a sigh of relief. I was safe now.
Or I would have been, if that sigh of relief hadn't caused the bad guy to hear me and pull me out of hiding to use me as a shield.
"Sorry Titans, but I think I'll be going now." the man gloated. "So much to do, so little time."
"Let him go!" Beast Boy called.
The man chuckled slightly. "Sorry, but I'm not stupid."
It was then, that Starfire leapt at us as the man made a dark circle in the air. If I didn't know better, I'd swear it was some kind of portal.
There was some force behind Starfire's leap and all three of us went through the circle.
It was a weird feeling. I had never felt like I was floating or flying in my life. I looked over at Starfire who was trying to fight the other guy.
"You have endangered my friends and ruined Blorthog!" she called.
The guy protested about damaging his suit, but before he could finish his sentence, Starfire grabbed something on his chest and ripped it away.
There was a bright flash and I felt myself being thrown somewhere. I instinctively closed my eyes and felt a pair of arms wrap themselves around me.
I felt a sudden jolt and felt my feet slowly touch the ground. I opened my eyes and saw Starfire looking at me, concerned. "Are you injured?"
I looked over my arms and took a breath. "I'll live." I suddenly shuddered and realised there was snow everywhere. "Where are we?"
"I am unsure." Starfire answered. "But we must figure out what…"
I looked at her face, suddenly covered in shock. I turned around and saw what she had. The big 'T' building.
"What happened to it?" I asked.
Starfire quickly took my hand and flew into the air and easily lifted me too. she flew us to the building and instantly flew up to the top floor. Luckily, or unluckily depending on how you looked at it, the window was broken enough for us to get in.
"Friends? Hello?" she called out.
"Anyone home?" I called out too.
We walked into he room. I instantly saw an old games console still attached to a definitely unusable television. I gasped when I saw it was the latest console that had only just come out a month ago.
I spun around when I heard a jingle. Starfire was letting something crumble in her hands. I saw a small tear fall from her face.
I heard another noise and looked towards a corner. I saw a red light get brighter. "Starfire?"
She looked to me as I pointed to the corner. Seeing the light, she instantly flew toward it, with one of her hands glowing with a green light. "Cyborg, thank goodness you are…"
She screamed and seemed to fire the light at whatever it was.
"Yo!" called an old voice.
We both looked toward the source, seeing a large figure walking down the steps. "Who's up here blasting my…?"
I couldn't believe my eyes. Cyborg!
He looked old. His human skin had definitely aged and was shoeing some wrinkles. The last time I had seen him, his robot parts were blue, but now they were black. It weas like they were turned off or something.
I slowly approached him as Starfire rushed to him.
"Cyborg, what has happened?" she asked.
"Why are you old?" I added.
Cyborg seemed to be so focused on Starfire that he only just noticed me. He sighed. "That's what happens to folks when you go away for twenty years."
"Twenty years?!"
I looked at the games console. It was twenty years old. I looked around as Cyborg explained to Starfire about the battle with Warp, who was the guy from the museum.
Cyborg walked to my side. "Welcome to the future."
"But I destroyed his technology." Starfire argued, showing the disc.
Cyborg looked at it. "Warp was planning to jump ahead one hundred years, right? Looks like you stopped him at twenty."
"What happened?" I found myself asking, not taking my eyes off of Jump City. It was a depressing sight now. I could swear I was looking at Gotham City.
"Things haven't gone so well since Starfire left." Cyborg simply said.
"But what of the other Titans? Where are our friends?" Starfire asked, a slight tremor in her voice.
I faced Cyborg as he answered. "The Titans are history, Star. Your friends aren't friends anymore."
Starfire began to spiral into a rant about how things were wrong and suddenly gained a look of anger. Her thoughts had changed to going after Warp. Mine, however turned backed to my dad. I looked back out at where my apartment was and saw nothing.
"What happened over there?" I asked, afraid of the answer.
"About a week after the incident, a giant scorpion was chasing someone with powers. She couldn't control them." Cyborg answered. "She stopped the scorpion, but at the cost of only that one building. Everyone inside was lost."
I looked at Cyborg, but it seemed he knew what I was going to ask and shook his head. I fell to my knees and saw some tears fall from my face. My hands balled into fists.
"How can we change this?" I asked.
"Warp! His interference in the past must have changed our future." Starfire said.
"I don't think…" Cyborg started.
"She's right." I said, standing up. "If he hadn't come for that stupid clock, we wouldn't be here and this would never have happened. Where is he?"
"What?" Cyborg was confused.
"We must find Warp." Starfire said. "You will help us?"
"I wish I could."
Then I noticed that he was plugged in. Literally. He walked to a large thing that the cables coming from his back were plugged into.
"My last power cell burned out years ago." He explained. "I've tried adapting this new stuff to my old circuits but…I can't leave the Tower. I'm obsolete."
"Well, about the others?" I asked.
Cyborg faced us. "I can tell you how to find BB and Raven."
"And Robin?" Starfire seemed to be hopeful.
"We lost touch a long time ago. If you're looking for him, you're on your own."
He told us how to find Beast Boy and Raven and Starfire grabbed my hand and began to fly. "Cyborg." I started. He looked once again at me. "Just a thought, but instead of adapting new to old, try adapting old to new. It works for me sometimes."
With that, Starfire flew through the air. It seemed like an eternity, but we landed outside a small circus.
"This is upsetting." Starfire sobbed.
"We'll fix this." I said. "We have to."
"Where are we going to start looking?"
I looked and saw a poster. I walked to it and nodded. This was it. I followed the signs with Starfire following me.
I saw two kids wearing futuristic looking clothes. They threw something into a cage and walked away laughing.
I slowly approached the cage and saw a green pig looking too depressed for words. The pig turned its head and instantly changed shape. "No way! It's you. But how?"
"We need your help." I quickly said.
Beast Boy looked terrible. He looked like he had been through a fair few fights and quite honestly, his clothes were looking a little too small for him. "What kinda help?"
Starfire approached the cage now. "The future is not as it should as it should be. I will free you from this…"
"This cage isn't to keep me in!" he quickly argued. "It's to keep those maniacs out!"
After an explanation of his solo hero career and convincing himself he was in showbusiness and a small rant from me asking about the young boy who trusted a total stranger to help him get off a spaceship and didn't try to keep him out of danger for his protection, Starfire and I headed to our next destination.
If the Tower and Beast Boy were sad, this was downright depressing. One single light in an abandoned building. We headed for the one closed door and Starfire carefully opened it.
It wasn't bright inside, but all the pure white of it was blinding. It was hard to notice the lone figure in the centre of the room wearing the white cloak.
"Raven?" Starfire asked. "Raven, it is Starfire, your friend."
"No such thing." She slowly said. She sounded, broken.
"Please Raven." Starfire started.
Raven mumbled again and Starfire took a step toward her.
"I'm never coming back! Go away!" Raven suddenly shouted and quickly floated to the corner of the room.
"Let me try." I whispered to Starfire.
I walked to Raven and slowly raised a hand. "Raven? I know we barely spoke but…"
Suddenly a black shield appeared around her, stopping anything from touching her, let alone even get close to her. Starfire stood in line with me. "Your mind. Without friends, you must have…"
A small black thing shot out and pushed us slightly. Starfire hung her head and led me away. I reluctantly let her lead me away.
"How will she let us tell her that her friends need her if we cant get close?" I asked as I closed the door.
We began the journey back to the Tower to tell Cyborg what had happened when Starfire was suddenly blasted in the back.
I spun around seeing the unmistakeable form of Warp. I picked up a nearby pipe and ran toward him. He crossed his arms, creating a light white shield that the pipe bounced off of. He sent a small blast at me and Starfire, who had flown through the air.
We stood back up and were ready to take another strike when we got a good look at him.
"You have also become old." Starfire gasped.
"That's what happens when someone steals my vortex regulator." He held out his hand. "The regulator, if you please. I really must get back to my future."
"Then fix what you've done to our past!" I snapped.
He looked at me, confused. "There's nothing wrong with your past. One cannot damage history, because history cannot be changed." He pulled out the weird clock from the museum. "I went back in time to steal this because history says it had disappeared. And history says it disappeared because I went back to steal it. Past, present, future. It's all written in stone."
I once again fell to my knees as Warp assured us that we could never change it, as he took the disc from Starfire.
I heard the sound of something building, but looked up when Warp cried in pain. A few discs suddenly appeared in the wall next to him. he quickly made his escape as someone approached us.
Starfire stood in front of me for protection, but dropped her guard at the voice of the figure who saved us.
"Robin?"
Thirty minutes later, we were in Robin's hideout. Or Nightwing, as he was now known.
"I heard you've been looking for help." He wrapped a blanket around Starfire and handed me a cup of Hot Chocolate.
"There is nothing you can do." Starfire said. "There is nothing anyone can do."
"We can't change the past to alter the future." I added. "No matter how much better it would be."
I saw the slightest smile on Nightwing's face. "So, it's impossible. Good."
"How is that good?" I asked. "Has getting older made you a stick in the mud?"
He walked towards a set of computers. "That's not what I mean. If memory serves, we've done the impossible before."
I looked at Starfire and saw her eyes light up. I really wanted to share in her hopefulness, but I was still wondering what he was talking about.
Nightwing turned around, holding a small yellow device with a yellow casing with a black panel and white letter 'T' on it. "I held onto this. Just in case."
He pressed a button and suddenly, it started beeping. I looked at Starfire and saw the green gem parts of her outfit were now pulsing red.
Nightwing handed me a small bar. It only had a small button on it.
On the way to the museum where Warp was, Nightwing told me how to use the weapon and how after Starfire had disappeared, he was the first one to go away and unlike Beast Boy, had a successful solo career.
We reached the museum and quietly snuck in.
We quickly found Warp doing something to the disc. I pressed the button on the bar and extended into a stick that I was told was very strong and durable.
Nightwing threw something at Warp and got his attention. "The future will have to wait. You just ran out of time."
As if this was the order, we all rushed to Warp; Starfire flying and Nightwing and me running on either side of Warp.
Together, Nightwing and I swung our weapons at Warp, who seemed to use some sort of martial arts to block and deflect our attacks.
I saw a bright green light coming towards me, so I quickly dropped to the floor as one of Starfire's attacks shot over me and knocked Warp back a few steps. Nightwing swung again and knocked Warp to the ground.
Starfire and I walked towards the fallen old man when he looked to the roof and shot a bolt at it, causing a lot of snow to fall on Starfire. She had pushed me aside as it fell. Nightwing ran to help her but was blasted away.
Warp got to his feet and came towards me. I raised my weapon but he quickly took it away from me, threw it away and raised his hand toward me.
Before he had a chance to attack, he was absolutely blasted into the far wall by a large blue beam. I looked at the source and Starfire let out a squeal of delight.
"Boo-yah."
"Cyborg! You are repaired!" she smiled.
Nightwing and I walked to the now blue lit Cyborg. "Glad you could make it."
"Wouldn't have missed it." he smiled. "Now who said y'all could start without me?"
"How?" I asked, not finding the other words.
"I fitted old to new." He said, confusing Nightwing, but making Starfire and me smile more.
"So sorry." Warp said, drawing our attention. "Perhaps I should finish you first?"
We gasped, but then a loud roar announced the arrival of an angry green lion that swiped at Warp. The lion skidded to a halt at my side, not taking its eyes off the enemy. Grunting, Warp raised his arm, ready to fire again but this time from his blaster, a dark light surrounded him and threw him across the room.
In front of us, shadows climbed into the air and melded together to form a large black bird. It instantly spun and changed into a human form.
"Nobody hurts my friends."
Raven joined us. The Titans were back together.
Sort of.
"Dude, that is so unfair." Beast Boy moaned, now back in his human form and looking at Nightwing's hair.
Warp stood back up and aimed his body away from us, opening the portal again. "It seems my time has come."
Quickly, Nightwing threw something at Warp which expanded with wings, slicing whatever Warp had thrown as a defence. Nightwing's weapon hit Warp's chest, cracking the disc and causing electricity to spread over his body.
He cried out as his body quickly shrunk down and his voice quieted down. Cautiously, we approached the pile of armour and clothes.
Beast Boy slowly pulled away the armour, revealing a small crying baby. "I am not changing any diapers!"
A strange sound made us all look to the portal, which was shrinking. "We gotta get you both home. Come on!" Cyborg quickly picked up the disc, and changed his hand into a cannon. He put the disc on it and fired, stopping the portal from closing and making it bigger again. "I'm redirecting the wormhole. Starfire, Thomas, go!"
"You remembered me?" I asked.
"We all did." Beast Boy said, a little sadly.
Starfire and I walked to the portal and just before we entered it, Starfire and I turned back, looking at the older Titans.
"Please, must this really be our future?" she begged. "Is there nothing I can do to change it?"
Nightwing came to us and looked Starfire in the eye. "I'm sorry Star. There isn't time."
He placed the clock in her hands and joined his similar aged friends.
I wrapped an arm around Starfire. "Come on. Let's change the past."
We both took a step backward into the portal, letting it pull us through time and back to our time. Hopefully.
Another bright white flash and I found myself on my back. I groaned as I sat up. "Starfire?" I looked around, seeing a young Robin, Beast Boy, Raven and Cyborg looking at me. "Where's Starfire?"
I began to panic when a portal quickly opened and closed, letting Starfire appear on her knees, holding the clock.
"Star! What happened?" Robin asked, coming to help her stand.
"History said it had disappeared." She said. "But history was wrong." She showed the clock to the other Titans.
Together, we went back to the tower and Starfire and I told them about or time travel adventure.
"…Then Nightwing handed me the clock, and we entered the vortex." Starfire finished.
They seemed to be speechless.
"Whoa." Raven simply said.
Beast Boy seemed to focus more on the fact that he was going to bald than the performances he was giving.
"Guess you were right about that Rekmas stuff?" Cyborg said. I had missed something this morning.
"I don't want us to drift apart." Robin said. "Isn't there anything we can do?"
"Well, your friendship must have changed Warp's future since we left him as a baby redo." I reasoned. "Maybe it can also change your future's too?"
Suddenly, small balls lifted into the air and seemed to fix themselves into a small necklace type thing.
"So, is it too late to do this festival-of-friendship thing?" Raven asked.
"Oh, it is never too late!" Starfire practically squealed.
We all seemed to get a necklace of bells, as they were, put on us.
"Happy Blorthog!" Called Cyborg.
"I thought it was 'Blort-hog'." Beast boy questioned.
I slowly began to sneak away as they all gathered together for this friendship thing. I didn't take the necklace off as the jingles may have alerted them.
I made my way to the front door and that was where I took off the necklace. I sighed. I would have loved to have been a part of that celebration, but it wasn't my place.
I opened the door and slowly closed it behind me. I walked to the edge of the island and realised what I had done. Again. I really needed to talk to my dad about swimming lessons.
I picked up a nearby rock and skimmed it on the water. I hugged my legs and buried my head in them.
"Thomas?" asked a voice.
I turned my head and saw a sad looking Starfire. "Hi."
"Is everything alright?" she asked.
"Yes." I lied. "I just need to learn to swim."
"You left these." Starfire handed me the bells I left.
I sighed. "I didn't want to be in the way."
"Why would you be in the way?" she asked. "There is plenty of room."
"That's not what I mean." I told her.
"Then tell me what you mean."
I looked at her and the tower behind her. "I don't belong here." I said before I realised it.
"Why do you not belong?" she asked.
I stood up. "Look at me. I'm a human."
"So are the others." She answered.
"You mean the trained fighter, the shapeshifter, the cyborg and whatever Raven is?" I asked, tears forming in my eyes. "I'm nothing special. I only helped today because I was in the wrong place at the wrong time!"
"Why?" she asked.
I was trying to find the words. "Look, there's nothing I want more than friends like you have but I can never match up to you. I'm nothing special. I don't even feel like I helped in the future!"
"You did help." Starfire assured me, placing a hand on my shoulder.
"No I didn't." I told her, letting the tears fall. "I was basically watching you and the others save the day. I did nothing!"
"You did more than you think." Said another voice. Raven approached me, along t=with the guys.
"I felt your strong emotions." She answered.
"You can feel emotions?" I asked, calming down and wiping my eyes.
"Among other things." Raven answered, raising an arm. "This is one of them. Azarath Metrion Zinthos."
A black energy came from her hand and covered my face.
'I was back in the future.
I was at the destroyed tower. I had just suggested the alternate way of adapting to Cyborg and left. This time, my vision stayed on Cyborg as my words seemed to register something in him and he instantly picked up a tool and began to work.
Now I was at the so-called circus. Starfire and I had just left the older Beast Boy. He looked at a small mirror and suddenly became angry and punched the mirror and changed into a T-Rex, breaking the cage and roared, then changed back to his human form and looked into the sky. I don't know how, but I knew he was remembering the saucer abduction.
Next, I was asking Starfire the question about Raven's friends as I closed the door. I was inside the room, facing the older Raven with water staining her cheeks as tears fell. She dropped the shield and looked back at the door; wishing that she had trusted her instincts and turned around. Even for that small glimmer of hope.'
I blinked and took in a breath. "What was that?"
Raven lowered her hand. "That was the impact you had on us."
"How did you…?" I started to ask.
"It doesn't matter." She told me. "What does matter is you stood by Starfire and helped her. You didn't leave her alone."
"Thank you." Robin said, approaching me and handing me something.
I looked at my hand, recognising the device that Nightwing used. "What is this?"
"It's your communicator." Robin simply answered. "We use it as a way of responding to trouble and talking to each other on missions, but we can also use it for a lot of other things."
I looked at them all. They all had the same smile on their faces.
"You're a Titan now." Robin said. "Now, I think we have a Friendship celebration to get back to."
I let out a small laugh and was led back to the celebration. "Can I ask a favour?"
"Anything." Robin agreed.
"Can you teach me to swim or at least get me a way to cross to the mainland?" I asked. "I don't want keep getting lifts from the flyers or Beast Boy."
