Disclaimer: I don't own Thunderbirds.
The fancy red sports car drove slowly into the drive-in movie theatre. It pulled up at a parking space where the projector screen could be clearly seen by its young driver and his pretty passenger.
Normally, Alan Tracy would be tearing at high speed along race tracks in his beloved vehicle. This evening, however, he was using it to take out Tin-Tin on a date. He had made sure to dress smartly for his girlfriend, but had not forgotten to put on his watch communicator. There was a high chance Jeff would contact him from Tracy Island to inform him that he was needed to go on a rescue. It was highly unlikely, seeing as today was Valentine's Day, meaning people would be too busy treating their loved ones to get themselves into danger and need help from International Rescue.
"Oh, Alan," Tin-Tin said happily. "I'm so happy I get to spend this wonderful romantic evening with you!"
Alan turned his gaze away from the screen before him to the young lady at his side. The full moon looming in the sky allowed him to see just how beautiful she was. Tin-Tin had put on a sparkling red dress for her date that evening. It twinkled like the stars above as the dark-haired girl fluttered her eyelashes at her blonde boyfriend in his white suit.
"Yeah," Alan said, turning his attention back to the screen. "I couldn't think of any better way to spend tonight."
Tin-Tin's heart fluttered. She was moved by how willing Alan was dedicate the night ahead to her. He could be so romantic when he wanted to be - even if it resulted in teasing from his older brothers. It felt so nice to get away from Tracy Island, leaving everyone else in International Rescue behind so that the pair of them could be alone together.
"Oh, Alan…" Tin-Tin leaned towards him, preparing to press her lips against his cheek. "I love-"
"Hush, Tin-Tin!" Alan put a finger to his lips. "The movie's starting!"
Tin-Tin paused. She slowly turned towards the projector screen Alan had his face glued to instead of her. She blinked in bewilderment as the title of the movie appeared in large white letters.
VOYAGE THROUGH SPACE III
"A sci-fi movie?!" Tin-Tin exclaimed, directing her astonished gaze back to her mesmerised boyfriend. "You brought us to see a sci-fi movie, Alan?"
"Of course I did!" Alan answered without looking at her. "You know I love sci-fi movies, Tin-Tin! I couldn't miss this when I found out this drive-in was playing it!"
Tin-Tin frowned. She wasn't at all impressed that the movie her boyfriend had taken her to see was not a romantic one. It wasn't even a new film. The drive-in theatre happened to be playing a remastered edition of the black-and-white motion picture which Alan had seen a hundred times. She could have known he would jump at the chance to see one of his favourite sci-fi flicks in rich quality - even if it meant easily seeing the strings that were used to control the puppets portraying the characters.
"Look at that!" Alan cried, pointing out over the car's windshield. "Isn't that a beauty, Tin-Tin."
Tin-Tin stared at the screen, her frown deepening when she it was filled with a shot panning over a large rocket. Alan wasn't even watching this movie for its story. His main reason for being so in love with it was for all its spacecraft which were portrayed by highly-detailed models.
"Oh yes, Alan," Tin-Tin muttered sarcastically. "It's very beautiful."
"Isn't it?" Alan beamed. "Although it's nowhere near as beautiful as the only one for me!"
Tin-Tin's glare faded. The words Alan had just uttered made her face light up. He had to be talking about her. Surely even an avid space nerd like him considered her more beautiful than any spacecraft.
"Not as beautiful as the only one for you?" she murmured, smiling. "And who would that lucky beautiful one be, Alan?"
"What else?" Alan turned to Tin-Tin, smiling wide as he released to her what he lovingly had on his mind. "Thunderbird 3!"
"Thunderbird 3?"
Tin-Tin's jaw fell open. She was utterly shocked by what her astronaut boyfriend had declared. He really considered the most beautiful in his life - to be his space rocket and not her?!
That was enough for Tin-Tin. She opened the car door at her side and climbed out at the passenger seat.
"Tin-Tin, where are you going?" Alan asked. "The movie's just started and you're going to miss it!"
"Well it doesn't matter if I miss it, Alan! As long as you get to see it, that's all that matters!"
Tin-Tin stepped out of the car and slammed the door shut. She walked around to where Alan sat in the driver's seat - before snatching his movie snacks out of his hands. She emptied his tub of pop corn all over him - before pouring his cup of soda onto his head, saturating his blonde hair and white suit.
"Hmph," Tin-Tin huffed, storming out of the drive-thru parking lot, leaving her messy boyfriend all alone in his car.
"Jeez! What's gotten into Tin-Tin?!" Alan asked himself as he wiped his wet strands of hair from his eyes. "You'd think I'd done something awful to her!"
Not bothering to chase after his girlfriend, the young man slouched comfortably in the driving seat of his car. He lifted his legs to rest them on the dashboard as he gazed up at the movie screen. His eyes twinkled with awe at the sight of the rocket that was launching from its silo, about to leave Earth's atmosphere to journey into space.
"Oh yes," Alan said wistfully to himself. "This movie really is F-A-B."
THE END
