A/N: Testing. Testing. Hello? Okay. Let's do this thing all over again. Hello everyone, My name is Bernard but you may call me Chaos because I don't like my actual name. You will be reading the first chapter of Marco 10 VS The Forces of Evil rewritten.
That's right. Marco Diaz got the Omnitrix. I don't know why no one has ever done it out thought of it before, but I ain't complaining.
After watching a ton of Ink Tank videos, I'm ready not only to continue this story but rewriting it.
Now. Let's start the story.
Narrator's PoV
Echo Creek, a town in Los Angeles California, was founded in the 1800s but a group of settlers. Is a peaceful place with nothing really special about it. Unless you do some deep research.
Four years ago, strange creatures appeared aout of nowhere all across America, including Echo Creek. Some are slimy like goo, some are faster than sniper bullets, and some are stronger than top grade bulldozers. The most glaring feature all of them share were hourglass symbols in specific part of their bodies, some could have it on their foreheads while others could have it on the center of their chest.
Unfortunately, a year after their appearance, the suddenly disappeared without trace. Since then, many still wonder what happened today those creatures.
LOCATION: L.A., ECHO CREEK, DIAZ HOUSE, BEDROOM.
TIMEFRAME: 7:30 AM, JANUARY 18.
The room was just your typical bedroom. Posters, shelves, and other items on the walls match what you'd expect from a high schooler. Red and White colors pop, giving off a lively feel. All over the room, you could spot tools and techie gear. But surprisingly, the place was neat and organized, showing the owner's tidy style. Everything's got its place, from stuff on shelves to things hung on the walls, making it all look tidy. There's a computer desk too, where this person does everything from gaming to digging into research.
In the center of the room was a bed and a drawer beside it with a digital alarm clock on top. Laying on the bed was a Latino-American teenager fast asleep, not too tall, with a slim build, sun-kissed skin, dark brown hair, and a noticeable mole on his right cheek. He was wearing brown sweatpants and a grey T-shirt. He had his blanket over the lower part of his body and his mouth open as he snored softly.
*BEEP!* BEEP! BEEP!*
Like most alarms, the digital clock on the desk lit up as it made noise to wake up the young boy that was asleep. The young boy began to slowly open his eyes, revealing his dark brown irises, and lazily moving his arm towards the alarm before turning it off. He sat up, scratched his head, and then stretched his arms to get rid of the stiffness of his body.
"Good morning, universe. What have you got in store for me today?" The young boy asked himself as he rubbed his eyes.
He moved aside his blanket to get out of bed. The boy stood up and proceeded to stretch some more before doing plenty of pushups. Following that, he tackled an equal number of sit-ups. After completing his exercise routine, he stood up completely straight and cracked his neck.
He left his room and decided to take a shower.
"You showed me your world! And it felt like a sign! But you acted too slow! And you ran out of ti-i-ime! And now we'll be Just Friends! We will be Just friends! And now we'll be Just Friends!" The young boy sang to himself behind the shower curtains as steam was being produced from the water. Getting out of the shower with a towel on, the young boy went back to his room to get ready for the day.
A few moments later, the door of his room opened to reveal the young boy with a new set of clothes. He adorned a light gray shirt underneath a red hoodie, dark gray skinny jeans, and olive and white sneakers.
"Marco! Breakfast is ready!" A voiced from downstairs yelled out.
"Coming, Mom!"
Name: Marco Ubaldo Diaz
Age: 14
Race: Human (Latino-American)
Occupation: Echo Creek Academy student
Birthday: November 28
Parents: Rafael Diaz (Father), Angie Diaz (Mother)
Marco Diaz, born on November 28, in Echo Creek, California, is a kind, responsible, very organized, and supportive individual. Renowned at school as the "safe kid," Marco's cautious nature and avoidance of danger is what makes him a somewhat well-known person at his school. He is a massive dork, often having trouble being social with people he doesn't know well and can be a bit of a blabber mouth when it comes to what he's passionate of. Beneath his dorky exterior lies a keen intellect that surpasses the average teenager. Marco's prodigious engineering skills and brilliant strategic thinking set him apart from most students. Well, that and another thing, but we'll talk about that later.
LOCATION: L.A., ECHO CREEK, ECHO CREEK ACADEMY, FRONT OF THE SCHOOL
TIMEFRAME: 8:30 AM, JANUARY 18th.
Marco pedaled his bicycle to school, clad in the same attire as earlier, now accessorized with a helmet for safety and a backpack slung over his shoulders.
After some time, Marco was in the school, his helmet gone but backpack still on. He looked around and saw students chatting with each other and some were even chasing each other around like they were playing a game of tag. Cheerleaders were gossiping, jocks were laughing, the geeks were geeking out with each other.
*SLAP*
"OW!"
Marco was caught off guard at the sudden noise, he turned around and saw a boy a bit on the shorter side and has some extra weight. He sported orange hair, freckles, and olive-green eyes. His get-up includes a dark gray shirt, paired with gray sweatpants featuring a white stripe on each side and tie strings. Completing the ensemble are dark gray shoes with white tips. He also had a red spot on his face where he was just slapped.
In front of the boy stood a teenage girl, her black t-shirt and blue jeans complementing her red hair, red lipstick, and fair skin. Despite the boy's attempts at flirting, she wasn't receptive.
"Yeesh, looks like Ferguson struck out again," Marco muttered to himself, a longtime friend of the boy. Uninterested in conversation, Marco continued on his way.
There were things on his mind lately. Ever since he stopped wearing it, life had been peaceful. Not that it wasn't a good thing, but his life felt empty. He was overly cautious, sure, but that didn't mean he didn't like a bit fo excitement. He gets straight A grades, he has friends, and he has his family, but there was something missing. He knew what it was, and he was tempted to do it, but he knew he shouldn't. He was done with that life.
After a few minutes, he entered a classroom. Dropping his bag beneath his desk, he took his seat in the only halfway occupied room, the other students likely engaged in various activities outside.
"Guess who~?" Soft, feminine hands covered Marco's eyes. Recognizing the touch, he sighed.
"Very funny, Janna." The girl, named Janna, removed her hands and settled on the desk beside him. With short, dark-blue hair and mischievous brown eyes, she wore an olive-green shirt, a turquoise jacket, a lively yellow skirt, and stylish brown boots. Completing her look was an olive-green beanie hat.
Name: Janna Ordonia
Age: 14
Race: Human (Filipina-American)
Occupation: Echo Creek Academy student
Birthday: October 1st
Parents: Ibarra Ordonia (Father), Maria Ordonia (Mother)
Janna Ordonia, a spirited 14-year-old Filipina-American, the troublemaker at Echo Creek Academy, is known for stirring up some chaos. With her mischievous grin, she's the queen of pranks and rule-bending, and manipulation. Her cool vibe and unpredictable antics make her a force to be reckoned with in school. Despite her devil-may-care ways, she is somehow best friends with the Safe Kid, Marco Diaz. Often teasing him, stealing his tuff, going through his private property, and Marco hates that she keeps doing that, but he still friends with her for some reason. Janna's also got a knack for being a bit irresponsible and not paying much attention. She is one of the people who knows of Marco's secret.
Janna glanced at him, noticing the contemplative look on his face.
"Anything wrong, Diaz? You seem more lost in thought than usual."
"It's just that... do you ever miss it?" Janna looked at the Latino boy, raising an eyebrow in confusion. "Remember our road trip when we were 10?"
Ah, so that's what he meant.
"You mean when yo-?" She was interrupted.
"Yes! That. Do you ever miss it?" His eyes shined with longing. He had truly missed those times, often reminiscing about the adventures.
"Do you? I mean, you're the one who chose to stop using it." She laid her chin on her hands as she too was reminiscing about those time.
"I know, and but I had to. I- we, were growing up. It was time to think of our future."
"Whatever. You'll wear it again, anyways." Janna had a confident tone in her voice. She really believed it.
"You don't know that."
"Bet? If you don't wear it, I'll stop stealing your back-up hoodies."
"That was you?!"
"If you do wear it, you have to give me back my goobers."
"They're not goobers! And no!" Marco protested. Who knows what sort of damage she can do with that kind of equipment without supervision.
"What? You mean to tell me you'll wear it at some point?" She had an annoying smug look on her face, challenging him to prove her wrong.
"Alright! Deal." Marco reluctantly agreed. "Besides, it's not like that'll happen anytime soon."
Oh, Marco. You could not be anymore wrong.
In a land far far awa- HEY!
SORRY NARRATOR DUDE, I'M DOING THIS ONE!
You can't just take over, you're a character in this story! How did you even get here?!
MAGIC! NOW LET ME NARRATE MY PART.
No!
YES!
No!
YES!
How about this, we share this narration segment? How does that sound? I honestly don't think you have the patience to describe what's happening in real time.
You have a point, I shall allow it!
So how do you wanna do this?
I'll explain things about me, and you'll explain things what's happening.
Deal. Okay, let's do this again.
Far, far away, in a magical land called Mewni, lives a princess. Star Butterfly.
There was a kingdom and a large castle with intricate design, the skies were pink with several planets and moons decorating it. The place was far from beautiful, but it wasn't half bad.
Hey!
Just calling it as I see it.
Inside the castle, one of the many large rooms had a portrait.
One side of the portrait featured a woman with long pale blue hair, light blue eyes, and heliotrope pink-colored diamonds on her cheeks. She used magenta pink lipstick. Her hair was styled in a big, heart-shaped updo, adorned with curls obscuring her ears. A golden crown with a purple diamond in the center adorned her head. She wore a light blue, periwinkle, and white gown, the skirt somewhat resembling the shape of a heart, complemented by long blue gloves. Additionally, she had light blue and periwinkle lace-up boots under her dress.
The other side of the portrait, there stood a short, stout, light-skinned man with blond hair and light blue eyes. A golden crown adorned his head, featuring a large pink jewel at its peak. He sported a thick, large mustache and a beard that split in two ways. His attire included a blue ruffled coat with gold shoulder pads and periwinkle tufts, along with periwinkle cuffs at the end of the sleeves. A blue cape with periwinkle fur draped over his shoulders, complementing gray pants and sturdy black boots.
And between the two of them, there was a teenage girl. She had fair skin, light blue eyes, and long blonde hair that cascaded down to her knees. Rose pink heart emblems adorned her cheeks. She was adorned in an elegant ensemble—a blue dress with puffy light blue sleeves accentuated by dark blue strings. A medium blue vest, adorned with a darker blue trim and gold buttons, added sophistication. Her attire continued with a blue puffy skirt featuring light blue ornaments and two strings adorned with several hearts. Dark blue shoes with light blue puffs on the toes, white socks, and a gold tiara completed her regal appearance.
"RAIL SLIDE!"
On cue, the teenage girl slid down the rails of a flight of stairs, inadvertently shattering the gem-like ornamental piece situated on the edge. She descended, bouncing on her face before coming to a stop on her back. Meanwhile, the previously mentioned portrait fell down on her. After a brief struggle, she managed to tear a hole through it with an energetic smile on her face.
Some people called me reckless and irresponsible-
You mean your parents?
just because I fight monsters-
Cutting to a new scene, she delivered a flurry of punches, kicks, and more punches to a group of monsters.
and tame wild unicorns.
A unicorn was peacefully minding its own business, drinking water from a lake when, without warning, Star hopped on top of it.
"YEEEEHAAAAWW!"
I like to have fun! An I'm about to have a whole lot more, because today is my 14th birthday!
Riding the unicorn, she traversed through the kingdom on a small journey to reach the castle, encountering a few obstacles along the way.
According to tradition, my mom, the queen, HAS to bestow ON ME our greatest family heirloom. The Magic Royal Wand!
You done? Can I solo this now?
Yeah, you're good to go. See you later, Mr. Narrator!
In the throne room, the queen and her husband stood side by side, their faces showing no emotion, with citizens lining the walkway, awaiting the princess's arrival. The queen held the wand in her hand—an elegant blue and gold scepter featuring a crystal heart-shaped crest.
The guards began to open the entrance, but before it could fully part, Star charged through atop the unicorn. The guests cried out in terror and moved out of the way. Without stopping, she continued riding until she reached her parents. Deciding to dismount, Star left the unicorn to crash through the wall behind the king and queen, who narrowly dodged the unexpected collision.
Star was giddy, bouncing like a hyperactive child, unable to contain her excitement for the heirloom. Her eyes dilated as it came within arm's reach, but her mother pulled it away.
"Now, Star, this wand is a big responsibility-."
"YEAH!" Star tried to grab it again, but Moon skillfully pulled away in time.
"If it falls into the hands of evil forces, the universe could be destroyed!" Moon explained sternly, but Star wasn't listening, or so it seemed.
"AHAHAHA!" Scratch that, she definitely wasn't listening. Star managed to snatch the wand from her mother's hands.
Holding it out, it began to transform. It took on a circular look, adorned with light purple colors and white wings attached to the grip. The bell of the wand featured a blue circle with a gold star and pink hearts surrounding the crystal star inside. A yellow crown adorned the tip, a blue butterfly rested between the bell and grip, and a yellow tip with a blue heart marked the end of the grip.
Sh gasped when it finished its transformation.
"Don't worry, mom. I can handle it." She confidently told the queen.
LITERALLY THE NEXT DAY.
*SCREAM OF TERROR AND CRIES OF AGAONY!*
Star wore a horrified expression as she gazed at her wand, slowly retreating to the side. Behind her, the entire kingdom lay beneath a burning rainbow, and it seemed like the kingdom itself was on fire.
Her parents observed the scene through binoculars, each having their own pair. Behind them, a tiny blue man levitated, his face expressing shock.
"She can't handle it." The simultaneously said as they watched the chaos unfold.
A FEW DAYS LATER.
"NOOOOOOOOO!" Just outside the castle, Star was on her knees, sporting a look of sorrow and horror. She grabbed on the dress of her moth as she cried. "I CAN BE GOOD! PLEASE! DON'T SEND ME TO ST. OLGA'S REFORM SCHOOl FOR WAYWARD PRINCESSES!"
CUTAWAY
*THUNDER!*
"AHHHHHHHHGGGGGG!" Star was being dragged to a prison like castle with dark skies and barb wires.
CUTAWAY END
"Sweetheart, we're not sending you there," her father reassured her. With that information, she lit up, stood straight, and had a small smile on her face.
"Oh."
"Yet," her mother added. That caused Star to look displeased.
"We're sending you to a safer dimension, a place called Earth," her father announced.
"Earth?" Star tilted her head in confusion, intrigued by the name. Who names their dimension after dirt?
"Manfred! Open the portal!" River called out.
A man dressed in purple extended a pair of beautiful scissors. Snipping through the air, he created a bright tear, which he then expanded to the height of the carriage, forming a portal.
"*sigh* Goodbye, Mewni," Star sighed, expressing her sadness at leaving her home.
As the carriage completely entered the portal, a large humanoid frog man hidden behind a bush emerged. Completely green in the most literal way, he wore an evil smirk.
"Hehehehehehe..."
LOCATION: L.A., ECHO CREEK, ECHO CREEK ACADEMY, PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE.
TIMEFRAME: 1:14 PM, JANUARY 18th.
"So, you claim you're from another dimension?" The school principal inquired formally as the royal parents stood in his office. He was a short, stout man with a receding hairline, featuring light brown hair, brown eyes, black eyebrows, and a small black mustache. His clothes consisted of black square-rimmed glasses perched atop his face, a dark gray suit paired with a light purple undershirt, a snazzy purple bow tie, and a set of dark gray dress shoes.
*FLICKER* *FLICKER* *FLICKER*
The lights flashed on and off, drawing the attention of the three adults to Star, who was casually playing with the light switch. She switched up her outfit, now wearing a sea green short dress with a light pink octopus on the front. The dress had a white collar and lace on the sleeves and skirt bottom. Below, she wore magenta and orange striped leggings, paired with purple boots featuring a rhino design. Hanging from her shoulder was a small star-shaped bag with a face.
"And you said there was no magic on Earth." Star said to them, believing the light bulb was powered by magic.
"Yeah... this isn't going to work."
*CHINGALING*
River opened a chest filled with gold and jewels, essentially attempting to sway the principal.
"SHE IS GONNA LOVE IT HERE!" The principal exclaimed as dollar signs replaced his eyes.
*FLICKER* *FLICKER* *FLICKER*
"But she's going to need a guide."
A FEW MINUTES LATER.
Marco and Janna strolled down the hallway, heading towards the principal's office. Marco's nerves were on edge, worried about what trouble might await him. Meanwhile, Janna seemed engrossed in her phone.
"Why do you think Principal Skeeves wants me in his office?" Marco questioned, his concern palpable. Janna glanced up from her phone, offering a nonchalant shrug. "It's not like I did anything wrong. Did I do anything wrong?"
"I don't know, Diaz. All I know is it's not me this time," Janna replied, her attention quickly returning to her phone.
"He didn't even call you. Why are you with me?"
"Because I'm a little rascal," Janna quipped with a cheeky smirk. Marco just gave her a black expression and just continued.
Nearing the office, Janna saw something that Marco didn't. Abruptly, she came to a halt and snagged Marco's arm, bringing him to a stop as well. Marco was surprised and saw Janna's wide-eyed expression when he faced her. He looked towards the direction she was facing, and he became slack-jawed.
They encountered a peculiar sight on the road – a pair of massive draconic lions, each twice the size of an average man, harnessed to an extravagant carriage. Seated on the carriage was a man adorned in attire not typical of the 21st century, giving off vibes of cosplay. He confidently held the reins of the draconic lions.
Janna couldn't help but voice her curiosity, "So... do we do something about that?" She looked to Marco, seeking his opinion.
"I'm texting this to my dad, see if he knows something about this," Marco responded, reaching into his pocket to retrieve his phone. Following through with his plan, he sent a message to his father before pocketing the device. Despite continuing their walk, Marco's gaze remained fixed on the unusual carriage, he was very suspicious of this one.
Navigating through the halls, they eventually reached the door to the principal's office. Marco, with a hint of nervousness, knocked three times, a customary signal to check if anyone was inside and if they were welcome.
"Come in!" a voice from inside called.
Taking the cue, Marco opened the door and stepped inside, Janna trailing behind. "You wanted to see me, Principal Skeeves?" he inquired, closing the door behind them and turning to face the principal.
To their surprise, three unfamiliar faces were present in the room, we've already established what they looked like.
"Marco Diaz! And Janna?" Principal Skeeves greeted with a hint of confusion about Janna's unexpected presence.
"Sup," Janna casually lifted her hand in greeting, maintaining her laid-back demeanor.
"Anyways, I want you to meet the Butterfly Family, Moon, River, and Star Butterfly!" Skeeves continued, introducing the teens to the seemingly overdressed family. A young girl was playing with the light switch like she had never seen one before.
*FLICKER* *FLICKER* *FLICKER*
"Hello, sir and ma'am," Marco greeted politely, though a hint of skepticism hid behind his demeanor. "What brings you to our school today?"
*FLICKER* *FLICKER* *FLICKER*
"We're here to have our daughter learn in this place as part of her training." The lady said. The word "training" sparked Marco's suspicion even more.
*FLICKER* *FLICKER* *FLICKER*
"Okay, for what?" he inquired, seeking more clarity.
*FLICKER* *FLICKER* *FLICKER*
"WILL YOU KNOCK THAT OFF!" Marco lost his cool and screamed at the blonde girl in annoyance, she reluctantly stopped before doing it on last time.
*FLICKER* *FLICKER* *FLICKER*
Marco sighed in exasperation, while Janna snickered in amusement.
"So, do you guys own the lion carriage thing?"
"Janna!" Marco turned towards his friend.
"What? Aside from Little Miss Light Switch, they look pretty high society. I think it's fairly safe to guess they own that thing outside. Might as well ask for some confirmation." Janna defended herself. The regal appearance of the Butterfly family and Principal Skeeves holding a chest of gold and jewels made it evident they were of some importance.
"Yes, we own the carriage outside," confirmed River.
"See?"
"Not now. Okay, why do you need your daughter to be here again?" Marco redirected the conversation, seeking answers about the purpose behind the visit.
"We need her here because this is a much safer place for her to train," Moon explained to the young boy.
"Train her for what?" Before Moon could answer, a flash of light emitted from Star. They all watched as she played with...a tiny flying narwhal? She played around with it for a few seconds before it-
*BOOM!*
detonated like a small bomb in front of her, leaving her face blacken from the ash and smoke. She grabbed her wand and fixed herself up good as new.
"That. She currently has an heirloom wand that has the potential to destroy everything, and on the day after she got it, she literally and nearly burned our kingdom down."
"And where are you guys actually from?" Janna asked as she crossed her arms.
"We're from another dimension in a land called Mewni."
Marco was shocked to learn about these people being from another dimension, as well as the immense power of the heirloom held by someone as childish as Star. Memories of a similar situation from his own past weighed on him, prompting him to lower his head.
Janna, ever ready with a teasing remark, got close to him with her signature smirk, "Feeling nostalgic, hero?" Marco just grumbled in response.
"Alright, but why me? There are a hundred students in this school."
"Because we need a responsible, never-take-chances type to keep an eye on her. And who better than you? The safe kid!" Skeeves exclaimed, placing his hand on Marco's shoulder. The unexpected responsibility left Marco feeling a mix of surprised and pressured.
"Oh, relax. You've had foreign exchange students in your place before," Janna attempted to reassure him, but Marco remained uneasy.
"Not ones that have the potential to burn our city!"
"No pressure!" Skeeves headed toward the door, the treasure chest in hand.
*CRACK!*
All heads turned in the direction of the noise to see Star punching an alarm clock.
"We'll be leaving her to you now, Mr. Safe Kid," River said to Marco as he and his wife also made their way to the door. The responsibility of keeping an eye on Star, who seemed to have a penchant for unconventional snacks, now rested squarely on Marco's shoulders."Oh, man."
LOCATION: L.A., ECHO CREEK, ECHO CREEK ACADEMY, HALL.
TIMEFRAME: 1:40 PM, JANUARY 18th.
Janna and Marco strolled side by side while Star skipped along the trail.
"Look on the bright side; at least we won't be bored anymore," Janna remarked to Marco, who seemed displeased. "Come on! We've faced worse things. Remember the tick?"
"The tick was barely intelligent enough to be considered sentient," replied Marco without looking at her. "This one is an irresponsible teenage girl with the power of a nuke in her hands."
"Okay, that is arguably a bigger situation than the tick. But if we don't look after her, there's a good chance that some immoral scumbag might try to take her wand."
"I know! Why can't the professionals handle this?" Marco complained, placing his hand on his face out of frustration.
"Because corruption is a thing."
"Oh right, don't want another power-hungry authoritative figure in our hands," Marco admitted. Like it or not, he had to look after this Star girl. He couldn't do it without help though. "I'm calling my dad."
He took out his phone and dialed his father's number. Placing it on his ear, it began to vibrate.
*CLICK*
"Hello?"
"Dad?"
"Mijo! I got your message. What happened? What's with those dragon lion things?"
"Well, some royal magical family from another dimension left their daughter here to train with her wand. The wand itself is really powerful from what I'm told. Nearly burned their kingdom down a day after she got it."
"Magic? People from different places? Potentially world-ending circumstances? I am having serious déjà vu."
"Dad, be serious."
"I am! You got to admit, this feels familiar."
"It does, but what do I do?!" Marco exclaimed on the phone, stressing out. He hadn't felt pressure like this since he was 10.
"We had foreign exchange students living with us before; why would this be any different?"
"Like I told Janna, NONE OF THEM HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO BURN DOWN A CITY!" Marco screamed at his phone, prompting students to look his way. Embarrassed, he said, "Sorry, everyone! Just keep doing what you've been doing!"
The students did just that.
"Dad, I'll be honest with you, I'm freaking out! I don't know what to do!"
"Marco, calm down. Stressing over it won't help. Just to be safe, give Janna her gear."
"What?!"
"It's either that or the other thing. We both know once you wear it again, there's no going back to a normal life. So either give her gear, or you risk dangerous individuals getting their hands on the wand. Your choice, Mijo. Anyways, see you later!" His father hung up right after that.
"*sigh* Janna!" Marco called out, only for her to be right behind him.
"Yo?"
"AH! I will never get used to that." Marco placed a hand on his chest, took a deep breath before continuing. "Looks like you'll be getting your gear."
"You're finally going to-." She was cut off.
"No! Not that. We'll need them if we're going to look after Star."
"Don't you think it would have been a better choice?"
"Janna, if I use it again, there's no going back. I'm not even sure if I'll want to go back. All I know is that I can kiss a normal life goodbye if I ever use it again."
"Marco, we never left that life. It was just on hold. I'm pretty sure you know that too."
Marco internally admitted she was right. This life would come back to bite him in the wrist eventually, but he could try to avoid it or at least only take a small part in it.
"If things go south, I'll consider it. But for now, we need to go to my place later." Marco explained, getting a nod from Janna. Star, come on, let's go."
"Where?" Star asked.
"To class. Please don't wander off. We're trying not to have our school destroyed." Marco calmly told Star.
Star took a bit offense to that. She stood up and twirled her wand with an arrogant smirk.
"Oh please, I'm not that irresponsible, I know what doing." The wand immediately fired a beam towards a moth passing by. The moth instantly mutated into a huge moth monster.
*SKREEEE!*
The moth monster tackled a bystander, who screamed in fear as the creature flew off with them.
Marco and Janna shared a knowing look before turning their attention to Star. Marco's annoyance was palpable, while Janna found amusement in the chaos unfolding.
"We'll let the local authorities handle that thing," Janna decided, suppressing her desire to chase after the creature and keep it as a pet. "Come on, let's get out of here. TO MARCO'S HOUSE!"
"Now? School isn't over yet," Marco protested, concerned about the impact on his grades.
"Do you really want another giant moth monster on the loose?" Janna shot back.
"He wants another giant moth monster?! Well, why didn't you say so?!"
"DON'T!" Marco raised his hand in a plea to avoid another moth monster.
"Okay!" Star lowered her wand obediently.
"Fine, let's go. But Janna, please, no encouraging her to make more of them."
"No promises." Janna playfully pressed her finger against Marco's cheek, a mischievous grin playing on her lips.
LOCATION: L.A., ECHO CREEK, DIAZ HOUSEHOLD, FRONT YARD
TIMEFRAME: 2:42 PM, JANUARY 18th.
"So Earth has corn too?"
"Yeah, but it's not really considered the greatest food in the world here."
Marco, Janna, and Star just arrived at the Diaz Household's front yard. Janna and Star were casually talking with each other while Marco was silent with a stern expression...and was dragging a large heavy chest.
The direction this situation they were in was heading closer his old life. Missing something doesn't equal to wanting it back. Sure, he misses what it was like back then but he also liked what it's like now. No life-threatening catastrophe happening every other day, something a lot of people experience. He knew sooner or later things would get more chaotic, so they would need to prepare.
"*grunt* Alright Star, welcome to my home." Marco grunted, the chest was heavier than expected. He could have just taken his bike, but it probably wouldn't have supported the weight.
"Ooooohhhhh, bigger than I expected. Gasp! Is that a cactus!" Star ran off to said cactus and stared in awe. "Is it edible in this dimension?"
"Not that one." Marco, despite the tense feeling he's had in the last two hours and the physical exhaustion he was feeling right now, he was amused by her lack of knowledge on Earth and enthusiasm. "Anyway, let's head in, hopefully my parents are home."
He and his companions walked towards the front door. Before Marco could knock, he noticed a note on it.
"'Dear Marco, we're sorry for not being home. We had to go to Mount Rushmore for urgent official business. No, it's not related to the magical royal you need to look after. We'll be gone until tomorrow, all of the phone numbers you need are on the fridge, and we left some leftovers and ingredients when you get hungry. Don't let the house get destroyed while we're gone. Love, mom and dad.'."
Marco read the note aloud with a resigned expression. "Welp, Mom and Dad are away, so that sucks." He attempted to twist the doorknob, but it was locked. Reaching into his pocket, Marco pulled out a key. Sliding it into the lock, he turned it and successfully opened the door, and the group collectively went inside.
LOCATION: MEWNI, UNKNOWN, DARK CASTLE
The frog man, who had observed Star's departure from the castle, emerged from a green swampy puddle into the main hall of a dark and menacing-looking castle deep within the territory of the Monsters. Stepping forward, he made his way toward the large throne at the center of the hall, raising both fists in salute to his master.
"Ludo, Master, I have news," the frog man reported. "I have located the Prince of Mewni. They are hiding him in the Earth Dimension... unguarded."
From the throne, a dark cackle resonated from his master before he turned around to reveal himself in all his glory. A humanoid creature reassembling to an ugly baby vulture, with green skins and wearing dark green robes. Standing at a grand height of 1' 6", counting the giant skull he wore on his head, Ludo addressed his loyal follower.
"Excellent work, Buff Frog. I knew they couldn't hide that royal brat from me forever. Now that he is without his parent's protection, their Wand is ours for the taking! Soon, the Wand will be mine, then Mewni, and then the Universe!" Ludo declared with fervor. "AND THEN...actually, the universe should do it." He attempted to look as menacing as possible, glaring at nothing in particular. "I'm coming for you, Butterfly."
"Umm..." Bull Frog raised a finger, turned around for a quick second, and then returned his questioning gaze to his master. "Wha-who are you looking at?"
"What?"
"You looked like you were glaring at a wall. Who you looking at?" Bull Frog was confused by Ludo's actions. "Was it Big Chicken? BIG CHICKEN, WHAT YOU DO TO MAKE MASTER ANGRY?"
"I'm not angry at anyone here! I was glaring into the distance for dramatic effect!"
LOCATION: L.A., ECHO CREEK, DIAZ HOUSEHOLD, SPARE BEDROOM
TIMEFRAME: 2:50 PM, JANUARY 18th.
Marco struggled with the large chest, while Janna observed his efforts with a smirk. Star, seemingly disinterested, gazed out of the window.
"Here's your new room." Marco dropped the chest, and unfortunately, his foot found its way underneath. "OW!"
Janna chuckled, unfazed by his predicament. "Smooth move, Diaz."
"Yeah, I can work with this.*GASP!*" Star turned around, biting her wand. She took it out of her mouth, raised it and jumped as high as she could. "SPARKLE GLITTER BOMB EXPAND!"
*BOOM!*
The side of the house sprouted a tower extension in a literal explosion of light, sparkles, glitter, and tiny creatures for some reason. The new tower consisted off...things that are way too complicated for me to explain in detail. All I could say is that it's yellow, lots of windows, an inconsistently wavy staircase and other trinket. Star found her way into a king-sized bed and bounced on it repeatedly.
"Ah, that's better!"
Janna couldn't help but burst into laughter, thoroughly entertained by the magical spectacle. "Well, that's one way to spruce up the place." Feeling a tap on her shoulder, Janna turned around and saw Marco gesturing that he needed to leave and for her to look after the interdimensional princess. Janna nodded in understanding and turned her attention back to Star, who was enthusiastically rolling around on her bed.
Marco left the room and made his way to his own. Upon entering, he walked across and opened a door on the opposite side, revealing a space filled with various tools and advanced technological equipment. The room had a green highlight to it and a well-equipped workbench, featuring tools for heavy-duty tasks as well as intricate circuitry work. A large metallic box, evidently used for scanning purposes, occupied a prominent spot. Underneath the workbench, stacks of boxes. Marco selected one of the boxes and placed it on the bench, ready to delve into his tech endeavors.
He opened the box, placing the lid down next to it. Inside, he found a black metal sword handle, two metal disks with a glowing blue centers, a small metal earpiece, and two metal wristbands. Marco put the lid back in place.
From the corner of his eye, something caught his attention. Marco bent down, reaching under the bench, and retrieved a metal object resembling a curled-up armadillo. Pressing a button on the side, it unfurled, revealing a gadget that looked like a large wristwatch with a wide band, predominantly black and grey. The dark grey faceplate in the middle resembled a watch dial, featuring a green hourglass shape. A green button adorned the side, and the faceplate's ring had four symmetrical lights. The band itself had two rings of white tubing.
"The Omnitrix," Marco muttered to himself. It had been years since he wore this, holding a trove of both good and bad memories.
Staring at the device for a few moments, He contemplated what to do. Eventually, he pocketed the watch in his red hoodie.
With the most powerful device in the universe now in his pocket, Marco grabbed the box and left the room. Unbeknownst to him, the Omnitrix glowed in his pocket for a quick second before the glow died down.
Returning to Star's room. Marco held the box tightly in his arms. Then he saw a pink blur racing past him.
"WOOHOO!"
"YEAH!"
He observed Janna and Star zipping around on a pink cloud, leaving a shimmering trail in their wake. Their excitement filled the room as they soared through the air.
"Janna! Star! Come down here!" In an instant, they arrived in front of him, causing the Latino boy to jump back a bit but didn't drop the box. "Here."
"Alright!" Janna exclaimed, leaping down from the cloud. She swiftly took the box from Marco's hand, opened the lid, and her excitement turned into confusion. "Uh, Marco. Are you sure this is the right stuff? Doesn't really look familiar. Well, aside from this but where's the blade?" She took out the sword handle, showing it indeed was missing a blade.
"I...made some new ones," Marco admitted sheepishly. After all, everyone needed hobbies. "The old ones were too heavy. Not to mention having all of that on your person would attract way too much attention."
"Sweet. So how do they work?" Marco placed the box on the floor, attaching the disks to the back of Janna's shoes. The disks seamlessly integrated themselves into her footwear.
He then affixed the two wristbands to Janna's wrists. With a smirk, he handed her the metal earpiece. "Here, put these on." She took them and complied, placing the earpiece on her left ear.
"Oooohhh, what's that?" Star asked with enthusiasm after landing from the cloud. The cloud dissipated upon her touch.
"That is my Programmable Matter Gear! I based them off of Janna's old gear. The thing on Janna's ear is a neural transmitter. All she has to do is press the button, and she can control her equipment with just a thought," Marco explained proudly, he to pride in his tinkering skills and would be damned if he wouldn't show it.
Janna pressed the button on her earpiece, and a blue visor materialized from small particle-like lights.
"Whoa."
She glanced down at her shoes, a smirk playing on her lips. The tech on her feet began to glow, and without warning, Janna jumped upwards. Her leap was so high; she seemed destined to collide with the ceiling. Yet, with graceful maneuvering, she landed on the ceiling with her feet, executing a swift dive down to land in a crouch.
"Yeah!" Star clapped, entertained by the impressive stunt. "Where did you get these magic jumping boots?! And where can I get some myself?!"
"I made them. Sorry Star, those are the only set I made." This bummed Star out, but she immediately went back to her peppy and excitable mood.
"What else can it do?" Janna asked, eager to know what her new toys were capable of.
"We'll established what it can do later." The Filipina groaned at this. "Now, we need to make some things clear." Marco turned to Star with a serious look in his eyes.
Star noticed this and she immediately froze. Why was he looking at her like that? She didn't do anything wrong, or at least she thought she didn't. So why was he new friend look all tense and serious.
"Have you ever heard of the Omnitrix is?"
"I know a guy named Omnitraxus, does that count?" Her paralyzed form immediately dissipating before she answered the question. Marco looked at her for any signs of lies, none so far.
"Is it true you're from another dimension?"
"Yep!" No lies.
"Do you know someone named Hex? Or Charmcaster?"
"Not that I could remember" Still no lies.
"Is it true you nearly burned down your kingdom."
"Y-yeah. BUT DON'T WORRY! I PROMISE I WON'T DESTROY YOUR HOUSE!"
Janna decided to say something. "You literally blew a part of it up for your room tower." She was ignored though.
"What are your motives?"
"TO HAVE FUN!" No lies. But wow, did this girl have an affinity for shouting.
"What's you dimension called!"
"Mewni! The most magical place in all dimensions!"
"How did you come to Earth?"
"Dimensional Scissors! Duh!"
"What ar-" He was cut off by a Janna.
"Hey! Let's chill for a bit." The young Filipina told her friend. She grabbed Marco's are and took him in a corner, away from Star. "You seem tense."
"Of course I'm tense!" Marco replied. Star was inspecting her wand, so she was too busy to pay attention to the conversation. "We have a potentially universal threat in our hands, and it's in the form of a hyperactive teenage girl!"
"Listen, she's a good person, I can tell. She's just a bit energetic, and impulsive. Instead of being suspicious of her, maybe we should try helping her out," Janna suggested, turning off her visor and revealing the concern in her eyes. The worried expression quickly morphed into a mischievous one. "After all, you know a thing or two about powerful objects in the hands of kids." She held out the Omnitrix in front of Marco's face.
Marco's eyes widened as he felt around his pocket, realizing that the actual watch he took from his room was indeed in the hands of his friend. Annoyed, he snatched the device from Janna's hand and pocketed it again.
"Fine, but if things go wrong, I'm blaming you." Marco reluctantly agreed. Today was not his day at all.
"...put it on."
"What?" Marco was surprised at Janna's sudden demand. He knew what she meant, and he wasn't sure if she was serious. "No! Not again. Not after him."
"He is gone, it's time to let go. It wasn't your fault. If we're going to do this, we'll need all the power we can get." Janna insisted. "Do you really think that we'll stay safe? With Star? We can assume that this will be an Omnitrix situation all over again. That things in her hands is a beacon of trouble. Manics, psychos, mad scientists, every single piece of scum across the universe would want her wand. And if they get it, who knows what'll happen!"
Marco found himself at a crossroads, torn between the desire for a normal life and the responsibility of safeguarding the universe. Janna's words lingered in his mind, thinking the potential dangers that came with Star possessing the wand.
In the end, the weight of the responsibility prevailed. With a sigh, Marco retrieved the Omnitrix from his pocket, contemplating its significance. After a brief moment of hesitation, he secured it back around his wrist. The device was once again a part of his life after three years.
"Now we're talking, I'll give you back all of your hoodies later."
"You better."
*BEEPING*
They heard a peculiar beeping sound, prompting them to scan the surroundings for its source. Their attention zeroed in on the Omnitrix, which, unlike its usual green glow, now emanated a vibrant blue hue.
"Hey guys! Whatcha got there?" Star approached them, curious about the glowing blue device. "That looks cool, what's it doing?"
"Right now? I'm not sure." Marco replied with a hint of concern. The Omnitrix had never glowed blue before. Green? Usually. Yellow? Occasionally. Red? After usage. But never blue. To their surprise, a voice emerged from the Omnitrix.
{OMNITRIX UPDATED. NEW FEATURES ADDED.}
"Oh, it just updated. Nothing to worry about." Marco attempted to ease the tension, but the Omnitrix triggered a small alarm, reigniting his worries.
{ERROR! ERROR! OMNITRIX DORMANT FOR SUBSTANTIAL TIME. REQUIRES RECALIBRATION.}
"What does it mean by that?" Fear crept into Marco's voice.
Suddenly, black goo with a green circuitry design oozed out from the Omnitrix crevasses. While familiar to the two Earthlings, it was a strange sight for the Mewman princess.
"Ew, there's black and green sludge coming out of it." Star grimaced.
"It's not sludge," Marco clarified. "It's Galvanic Mechamorph gel. Why is it on the Omnitrix?"
Before anyone could react, the gel completely enveloped the Omnitrix, casting a blinding light. Everyone instinctively shielded their eyes, avoiding the brilliance and preventing them from witnessing the gel wrapping itself around Marco's hand and forearm. Upon closer inspection, the gel revealed itself to be nanites, tiny machinery functioning on a microscopic scale. These nanites intricately infiltrated underneath his skin through the pores, with some entering his bloodstream. Strangely, Marco felt no sensation during this peculiar process.
The Omnitrix underwent a transformation; the dial continuously rotated, changing in size, while the wristband slimmed down. The once rubbery and bulky device transitioned into a metallic and slick form.
As the light diminished, the Mechamorph gel retreated back into the watch. The glow dissipated, revealing the new appearance of the Omnitrix. Two out of the three observers were visibly surprised, while one wore an excitable grin. I'll let you guess who.
The Omnitrix now boasted a slimmer and more streamlined watch-like shape, featuring a green wristband and a dial face in black and green.
"Well, that just happened," Janna uttered, clearly taken aback by the unexpected turn of events.
Equally astonished, Marco examined the Omnitrix, having experienced its transformative power before but never witnessed it reshaping itself. As he pondered making some calls later, Star's curiosity surfaced.
"Uh, Marco." Star interjected, peering at him with a fascinated expression. "What happened to your eyes?"
"What?"
Using her wand, Star conjured a reflective mirror. Positioning it towards Marco's face, he was startled and a bit apprehensive. His irises, once brown, now shimmered with a brilliant shade of green. This was undeniably a new development.
"I should definitely make a few calls later." Marco was truly lost for words. Did the Omnitrix do this? If so, why? And how? "I guess the Omnitrix still has a few secrets."
"Okay, how about this? We go somewhere to chill out, and you guys fill me in on that watch thingy on Safe Kid's wrist?" Star grabbed the shoulders of her new companions, a bright smile turning into an annoyed look. "And pretty much everything because I am completely lost since I got here!"
Marco and Janna exchanged smiles.
"We know just the place."
LOCATION: L.A., ECHO CREEK, MR. SMOOTHIES
TIMEFRAME: 4:47 PM, JANUARY 18th.
The Mr. Smoothies location was a vibrant and inviting spot situated in the heart of Echo Creek. The exterior boasted a colorful sign with the iconic Mr. Smoothies logo, featuring a cheerful anthropomorphic smoothie holding another smoothie. The entrance had large, glass double doors that allowed a glimpse into the lively atmosphere within.
Inside, the walls were adorned with playful murals depicting various fruit and smoothie themes. The counter, where customers placed their orders, was adorned with a variety of fresh fruits and a menu showcasing an extensive list of smoothie options. The aroma of blended fruits filled the air, creating an enticing and refreshing ambiance.
The seating area featured a mix of cozy booths, high tables with stools, and a few outdoor tables for those who preferred some fresh air. The decor aimed for colorful, childish and relaxed vibe, enhancing the overall experience of enjoying delicious smoothies in a fun setting. The friendly staff behind the counter efficiently prepared orders, ensuring a quick and satisfying visit for customers.
The trio were sitting at a table outside, Star had a sparkling eyes, Janna had her elbow on the table hand on her chin and Marco's was sipping a delicious smoothie.
"So let me get this straight, Marco's parents were space cops, you guys went on a road trip, he got a watch that turns him into monsters-
"Aliens, but continue." Marco corrected
"And because I'm here, you decided to put the watch back on just incase?"
"Yep."
"Should I be flattered or insulted?"
"Well I would be flattered." Janna interjected as she played around with her sword handle.
"If you're telling the truth, show me your monsters!" Star went up on his face with an excited grin.
"Not here, too many people. We don't want anyone to know my little secret." Marco said, getting a disappointed groan from Star, before going looking at his Omnitrix. "
He's still not sure what happened to the Omnitrix and what happened to his eyes. He planned on going to the First Thinker for this, if anyone know what happened, it'd be him.
"STAR BUTTERFLY!"
The three amigos look towards where the voice came from.
It was Ludo with his small army of monsters, ready for battle. The bystanders did a quick glance at them before going back to their business. They probably assumed it was just a group of cosplayers.
Marco slammed his face on the table out of annoyance and shock.
"It hasn't even been a day!"
Next Episode: Power and Party with a Pony
A/N: So, what y'all think?
Coming back this, I realized how much of amateur I was. Still kind of am though, I am just better at writing now.
I'm not giving Janna magic, even though that probably would make sense given she has interest in occult stuff. The reason for this is because I want a complete human companion for this trio. Star is Mewman with a magic wand and Marco can transform into different aliens, I figured it would be interesting to have Janna do what she can to compete with the two powerhouses by using her skills and some tech.
Marco isn't much of a control freak compared to the actual episode of the show because he's much closer to Janna in this and knows when to tone down the authority most of the time. He's also a bit more paranoid since he took Ben's place in this AU and more or less has experience towards these kinds of things, that also explains why he doesn't have a breakdown on this one and attempt to live near a convenient store.
Star is more or less the same.
I thought it would be interesting for the Omnitrix to be calibrated using Galvanic Mechamorph gel because that's how it looked like in Alien Force (kind of). As for the Mechamorph going into his bloodstream thing, I just wanted an excuse to give Marco green Illusive Man eyes.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
