Chapter 5
The quiet of her mind was affecting Edward hard. It forced her to see her without being able to read her mind.
"You're not going to help me," she spoke, like a sad, broken angel.
He froze at her accusation.
"I don't want to become a vampire, but you're going to let it happen anyway," she said silently, scratching at her lower arm.
The hopelessness was clear in her voice.
"And now that you're human, you must be thrilled that-"
"I'm fucking not thrilled, little girl. I love being a vampire. And you better hope I won't stay like this forever."
She stared at him in fear, his threat obviously to be heard in his voice.
"I'm a vampire and I love it. I pity you. I pity your humanity. It makes you weak and frail. Humans are nothing."
"How can you say such a horrible thing?" she whispered.
"I'd never want to be human again," he deadpanned.
The girl looked shocked.
"But seeing how revolting you find it to become a vampire, I could try to suck the other vampire's venom out of you body."
She stared at him in fear and shook her head.
He closed their distance and sat on the ground opposite of her.
"That's possible?" she asked softly.
"Only one way to find out."
She looked scared and hesitant, and didn't agree. This made Edward wonder why he wouldn't at least give him a chance to try.
If only she would realize how much strength it would take Edward to resist his urge to drain her, the moment he would try to suck the venom out.
Of course she didn't, because she wasn't a vampire.
Yet.
"Do you want to become a vampire then?" he snapped impatiently at her dubiety.
She flinched. She was scared. Even if now, he couldn't smell her blood. He saw the fear in her eyes.
If she wasn't going to extend her lower arm, he was going to do it for her himself. He took hold of her wrist and her elbow, looking carefully at the wound.
The bite seemed recent.
"Did his bite hurt you?" he asked, wondering if the venom of a different vampire had the same effect.
She shook her head.
"You didn't feel anything?" he asked.
She shook her head again.
That meant it was just his venom that produced agony inside the girl's body.
"Then I'm afraid this might hurt you, little girl."
"Why do you keep calling me that?" she whispered.
He raised an eyebrow. "Because you're just a little girl?" he said, wondering if that wasn't obvious.
"I'm not a girl," she said, rolling her eyes.
Did the human just roll her eyes at Edward?
"I'm twenty."
He felt strange, knowing her real age now. His guess had been off. He hadn't pictured her seventeen, but not much older than eighteen.
But twenty?
"Hmm, really?" he said, steering his head. "Then you're a young woman."
He placed his teeth on the bite mark.
Even if he didn't smell her blood now. He hated his weakness. He wanted to be a vampire.
"My name is Bella."
He flinched this time. Not only did she tell him her age. She also gave him her name. Now the human was named. And that really complicated things for Edward.
He didn't know how, but it felt complicated.
"Pleasure meeting you," he said with a smirk, not giving her his name.
"Unfortunately, I can't say the same, so the pleasure is all yours," she said with a glare.
Suddenly the scent of her blood was back, and it indicated she was afraid greatly. He suppressed his groan and urge.
This human was getting on his nerves.
He watched her deadly with his red, vampire eyes.
"Then enjoy your vampire life," he said.
He dropped her arm unceremoniously and stood up, leaving her hanging there, on the ground, and he walked away from her, as an arrogant, angry vampire.
He felt himself turn back human after stepping away from her and without warning, the girl's body slammed into his back.
The force made him tumble over on his knees, falling on his side and the small human falling also, right on top of him. She was pinning him down, her hands on his wrists.
The fuck?
Her face was an inch away from his.
She stared at him with her big brown shock filled eyes and he wondered why her pupils were no longer dilated like before, before he bit her.
"Get off me!" she said.
Was she for real?
He smiled at her while feeling arrogant.
"I hate to break it to you, little girl, but you're on top of me."
She groaned and pulled herself off him as she struggled to get up.
"Let me go!" she said, panting hard.
"Little girl," he groaned. "You are holding me down."
She seemed to grow hysterical, as she quickly jumped off him.
She was flustered and Edward got on his feet, narrowing his eyes.
"Please," she said, her eyes on the ground. "Help me. You can just ask another vampire to turn you into a vampire, can't you?"
His lip twitched. The human was negotiating.
"I'm sorry my blood poisoned you. Actually, you're eyes are red now... You're a vampire."
So they were.
He extended his hand.
"Give me your arm, little girl."
Her eyes widened and she quickly extended her lower arm.
"Thank you," she said quickly.
He raised an eyebrow at her and held her lower arm gently.
"This might hurt you again," he said as he bent down.
He sank his teeth in her skin slowly and she hissed. He tried to not let his venom get in her body. But her blood smelled mouth watering and he couldn't stop all the venom his body made in reaction to her.
Resist...
It was the hardest thing he'd ever done.
He sucked slowly as he pulled his teeth out of her skin to no more let her suffer due to his venom.
He tasted the venom of another vampire and wanted to spit it out, but he needed to get this over with soon. He sucked the venom out and swallowed it quickly. The other vampire had really tried to ruin this girl with the amount of venom he'd let pool into the girl. It angered him so. And meanwhile, the poor girl trashed at the pain that his venom caused her. Why did his venom hurt her so?
He took a few more swallows until he sucked out his own venom too and eventually tasted only her clean blood. He froze at the taste and retreated instantly, even if the monster inside wanted to taste more.
"It's out, little human," he said quickly.
She didn't respond. He noticed her eyes were shut tightly.
"I may have left some venom in your neck," he added. "Are you too much in pain for me to take that out now?"
She reached for her neck.
"I can wait a little until your pain subsides."
"I thought your venom has healing powers."
He laughed. Edward had never laughed before because of a human.
"Healing powers?" he repeated slowly.
"You slammed my body into the wall right after drinking all me blood, right?" she said. "And I have the memory, of what happened. In that alley. How those men ripped off my clothes. I was afraid. But now, it doesn't scare me as much."
Edward grew silent as his face grew hard at her confession.
"Isn't that odd, big vampire?"
His lips twitched, almost in to a smile. At her fucking silly nickname.
Yes.
It was extremely odd. That she was healing.
"But my body... still feels- naked," she said in a broken, small voice.
Naked?
Right. She was in nothing but her undergarment and his jacket.
He was shocked at her train of thoughts, but more importantly, he felt a new urge, one much different from the one where he craved her blood.
Now he craved to give her what she wanted.
She wanted the venom out? It was done.
She needed clothes? He had plenty.
He next used his vampire speed and found clothes upstairs, that he brought with him to her.
"Put these on," he said.
She blinked a few times, probably feeling a slight breeze from his quick movement as he had used his inhumane speed to move. She stared at him as if he was a crazy vampire. Edward thought the same thing of himself.
He wondered what the hell had happened to him due to this human.
He turned her back at her. "Tell me when you're finished."
As he let her get dressed, Edward started gathered the facts.
There was a human girl right now in his house.
- His powers didn't work on her.
- Another vampire had bit her tonight.
- Six humans had attempted to use her for their pleasure tonight.
- Her blood was extraordinary.
- His venom hurt her and healed her.
- Her blood changed him.
- She's twenty years old.
- The girl's name is Bella.
- There was no doubt she's human.
"I'm finished," she muttered.
Edward turned around, finding the girl fully dressed in his grey sweater, sweats and socks.
"How cute, tiny human," he said, his eyes glancing over her body swimming in his clothes. Hence he called her by her new name, tiny, but it had been unintentional to indirectly call her cute.
Intentional or unintentional, direct or indirect, Edward had said it and it made the tiny human watch him strangely as her cheeks went red again.
Edward had missed that in that moment, he had been human and due to his humanity he was making strange comments about her appearance, because he was suddenly hit again with that divine smell as he became once again, a vampire. There it was again. His vampire side was back and he used it to his advantage to walk over her in his fast speed and make her gasp.
"Now tell me everything about the other vampire."
Her eyes undoubtedly filled with fear again.
"Right now, tiny human," he demanded.
