"It shouldn't be too much further to the main road; we will make it there and then we'll find someone to fly us the rest of the way." Nathan assured her; they'd been traveling through the tropical jungle for almost two days. "Nathan, enough! You've been telling me that for a day in a half, just keep walking." She winced with each step before stopping altogether; kneeling down. "Sam, we really need to keep moving." Nathan stopped turning to face her as she placed her hand up. "I just need a minute." She breathed out; her head resting against the roughness of a tree.
Nathan sighed before walking over kneeling down beside her. "What about Sully? We've been moving all through this place and we haven't seen any sign of him." Sam didn't know either of them all that well but Sully was obviously important to Nathan who appeared more and more concerned by the minute. "I don't know. I don't know but either way, Sam, we have to keep moving! I don't wanna think about anything happening to him but if something did; he'd want us to finish this thing." Nathan said resting his hand on her shoulder as she quickly glanced down at a tarantula crawling across her hand. She shrieked leaping up; and ontop of Nathan's back.
"Nathan! I can't! I can't! I don't fucking do spiders!" She screamed burying her head into the back of his neck as he knelt down, gently pushing the tarantula away while Sam quickly slid down his back; quickly backing away from him. "I swear! If you pick that thing up; and chase me with it! I busting nutsacks!" She dared as he quickly turned around, facing her with a puzzled expression mixed with a smirk. "busting nutsacks? what is it with you and my balls? and who have you been hanging out with who would do that?" Sam grimaced watching the spider scurry away; swatting at her skin imagining the sensation of it crawling on her. "I have a brother, okay! I know what boys do when a girl is scared!" She winced out, leaning over in pain. "Is your stitches bothering you?" Nathan asked hurrying over to her. "No. I am training for a triathlon! what do you think?" She quipped as she pulled her backpack off, dropping it to the ground and retrieving the pain pills.
"How many more do you have?" he asked; she'd had to take about two a day for the past two days. "I only have enough for maybe today and tomorrow." She said popping one in her mouth before pulling out her canteen, nearly dropping it at the sight of a lizard ontop of it. "I hate the fucking jungle! I hate it! I hate it!" She screamed as Nathan let out a gut busting laugh. "It's not fucking funny! I am by no means a girly girl but this is too much for even me!" She said kicking the lizard away while picking up her canteen, shoving it back in her pack before draping it around her shoulders. "Let's keep moving." She said taking the lead, not entirely certain of where they were going but wanting to get as far away from any wildlife as possible.
They continued through the dense tropical jungle, the humunidity clining to them like a second skin; Sam occasionally wiping the sweat from her forehead, her scent wafting in the air and filling Nathan's nostrils; his body responding in the most unfortunate way. She smelled so good; like vanilla and berries; it left his mouth watering, begging for even the slightest taste. He felt disgusting, absolutely fucking disgusting thinking about her in that manner when in all actuality, Sully could be dead! Nathan didn't think he'd fallen out of the plane but maybe, whoever shot the plane down took him or maybe he'd decided to go ahead knowing Nathan was going to have to take the slower route with Sam's injury.
"Nathan, did you hear me?" Sam said as he practically bumped directly into her backside; his cock swelling at the sensation. "What?" He asked shifting around his hard member. She was still; focused on something in front of them. It was a small village built on elevated platforms surrounded by a quiet tranquil body of water. "This doesn't look like the main fucking road, Nate." Sam growled as he sighed with frustration pushing away his dirty thoughts from earlier. "shit." he quietly said while drawing his weapon, Sam doing the same as she followed closely behind him, watching each and every platform with curiosity. "What is this place?" She asked in a hushed tone while scanning the elevated platforms and still water below.
He glanced around their surroundings, his senses heightened. "I don't know but in my line of work, the quiet is never a good sign." They cautiously approached the village. "Why don't we just turn back?" she asked as he shook his head. "and lose another two days?" He asked. The air was thick with tension. Nathan's eyes darted from one platform to another; spotting several unopened crates. "They could also have ammo that we could use." He pointed out before hearing rustling sounds through the air; causing both of them to tense with their guns drawn in the direction. Suddenly, a villager peered up, having been hiding behind one of the crates.
Nathan slowly lowered his gun; placing it back in it's holster but Sam kept hers drawn as he lowered it for her. "We mean no harm. We're just passing through." Sam's eyes widened in shock. "Nathan." The man's face told her everything that she needed to know; this wasn't nothing but a trap; and the villager was the bait. "Can you help us find the road?" Nathan continued to speak as Sam swiftly jabbed him in the side. "what?" He asked whipping his head around to face her. "Nathan, he's wearing a vest." Nathan slowly peered around, catching the tears streaming down the man's face as Nathan swiftly tackled Sam into the water as the man's body exploded. They slowly peered up to the surface; fire and smoke all around them but they were no longer alone.
"Where'd they go?" a mercererie shouted, triggering a frantic search. "Find them! Get Drake!" They both dived back into the water; swimming under a dock, slowly coming up for air. "How many are there?" Sam whispered, her eyes scanning their surroundings.
"I counted two," Nathan whispered back, his finger pressed against her lips to maintain silence. Suddenly, hands reached down, aggressively pulling them from beneath the dock, exposing them to the hostile forces.
"Get your fucking hands off of me!" Sam screamed, fiercely resisting her captor. Nathan retaliated, elbowing his captor, while Sam delivered a swift knee to hers.
Bullets wizzed through the air; from even more mercenaries who'd joined the fray. They dashed near one of the Platforms, climbing onto it, Nathan helping Sam to her feet before she rushed over to one of the crates; ripping it open to reveal dozens and dozens of grenades. "holy shit." She exclaimed with wide eyes. "What, you've never seen a grenade?" He quickly grabbed one, pulling the tab before throwing it towards the mercernaries who seemed to double in number. "Who the fuck am I, G.I Jane?" She yelled back, grabbing one, pulling the tab but it slipping and falling between them. "uh oh." They stared down at it before staring at each other as Nathan quickly picked it up throwing it off the platform and diving ontop of Sam to shield her.
The grenade exploded, sending shockwaves through the air as debris scattered around them. The platform trembled beneath them, Nathan covering Sam against the debri. As the dust settled, they slowly rose to their feet, taking in the aftermath of their explosive countermeasure.
"Nice move, G.I. Jane," Nathan quipped, offering a grin as Sam gave him an apologetic smile. However, before they could catch their breath, more bullets rang through the air, prompting them to take cover behind a large iron container.
As they huddled behind the iron cover, Sam peered up to assess the situation. To her shock, a massive tank emerged, heading straight for them. "Oh my god," she cried out, but the tank wasn't firing at them. Instead, it plowed through the mercenaries, who were fleeing in panic. The tank was merciless, eliminating the threat with brutal efficiency.
Nathan and Sam cautiously eased up from their cover, watching as the tank came to a stop. The top of the tank creaked open, and to their surprise, Sully poked his head out, wearing his signature grin.
"Well, well, look who finally decided to show up," Nathan teased, a mixture of relief and amusement evident in his voice.
Sully chuckled. "Thought you kids could use a hand. Heard you've been causing quite the ruckus."
Sam couldn't help but roll her eyes. "You're just in time, Sully. We were starting to think we'd have to swim our way out of here."
"Where the hell did you find a tank?" Nathan asked jumping off the platform and easing Sam down it before they approached him. "I've had it for a few years! I even have a property up here; and another plane." Sam cried out with gratefulness. "Sully, thank you, thank you, thank you!" She said kissing him on the cheek. "I didn't know if I could listen to another 'we're almost there' from Nathan over here!" Nathan, who appeared a little put out, perked up as Sam sighed before giving him a kiss on his cheek. "Let's get the hell out of here." Sully urged as they all loaded up in the tank.
