So, I know that it has been a very long time since I have posted anything here. The problem was that I knew where I wanted the story to end up, I was just having issues figuring out how to get there. But I have had a week off work and one more to go with no family obligations and I started re-watching both Stargate and Sanctuary. My brain finally figured out the connection's yea! I plan for this to be a long story, so please bear with me, I have no intentions of giving it up. Frankly the characters won't let me anyways.
I know that the timelines for the two shows may not line up quite as nicely as I would like for where the story is headed, so please just go with it. Also, please review and let me know if you like the story or if something does not make sense.
Thanks!

Helen was still slightly shaken over the fact the these 'people' were continuing to help them, and she really had no idea why that was. Maybe they trusted her because she looked like their Major Carter. But they pretty much just left three strangers in a room with Thor and still made no move to take the weapons that were not all that far away. She knew that there was no way that she would do anything unless provoked, but she just didn't think she was seeing all the angles and that had her worried.
"Thor, I have to be honest. I'm still not sure I understand why you are helping us. You are showing a level of trust in us that I just don't understand." Helen felt her daughter shift next to her. Even Ashley was completely at ease here and that just did not happen. She was always suspicious of those around her.
"Please let me attempt to explain. The Asgard race has always been friends of the humans, regardless of what planet they lived on. Most still see us a gods even though we do not see ourselves that way. We took on this illusion to help guide and protect them over the years. Earth is the first to advance to such a level to see us as we truly are even though that was very much accidental. There are some Asgard that believe that the people of Earth are still much too young for us to help them technologically, but they have proven themselves over the years." He paused here for a second. "As you said we are showing you trust. The people of the SGC have earned that trust a hundred times over, but O'Neill did suggest that the computer keep a lock on all of you and in the event of hostile action you would simply be transported back to the Sanctuary facility."
"Colonel O'Neill had this discussion with you this morning?" Will spoke directly to Thor for the first time.
"We discussed other topics as well, but yes. He is not as…dumb as he pretends to be. He is a very observant and capable human. He is also genuinely concerned for Major Carter and very protective of those he sees as family. If you all stay long enough, he is sure to surprise you as much as he has us." Thor stated. "Are you ready to be given the options or do you have more questions?"
"Mom are you ready? He did say options, so there are more than one and I believe that Major Carter will be coming out of the pod soon." Ashley was not usually one to take the lead, but this whole thig seemed to throw her mom off balance. With a nod of her head Helen indicated that she was willing to listen.
Thor moved something on his tablet and read it for a second.
"Dr. Magnus, given that the anomaly is not incorporated in your DNA, we can simply remove it and you would live out the rest of your life with a normal human lifespan." Helen looked startled at this. It was not something that she had considered since the longevity became apparent. Given her work with the sanctuary, she was not sure that she was willing to do that.
Will noticed her reaction and knew that they would be discussing it later, but she clearly didn't like option number one.
"Next, we can leave well enough alone. The anomaly in Ashley is dormant and she can live out her normal life span and eventually die."
Will was still observing Helen and knew that however much she would hate to become mortal if those were the only two choices, he knew which way it would go.
"Thor please tell me that there is a third option, because I am not sure that I like the first two." Helen said. With the first two she was basically having to choose between her daughter and her work. Not that there was really a choice.
"The third option is that we activate the anomaly in Ashley's DNA specifically to give her longevity like you have. Given how the source blood affected all five of you differently, we would need to be extraordinarily careful how we went about this. It would take more tests by our scientists and some time to isolate the correct markers, but once we determined the correct adjustments needed it would be a simple procedure in the stasis pod like she has already experienced."
"Okay so Thor, you could have started with that one you know. I am quite sure that you had these two immensely worried there for a second." Will stated.
"While I will admit I did not believe that the second option was really a choice, Ashley choosing to activate the marker is just as big a decision as Dr. Magnus choosing to have hers removed. As I said once the procedure is complete there will be no going back." Thor wanted them to be very aware of the consequences. The pad in front of him started beeping indicating that Major Carter was done in the pod.
"Colonel O'Neill please return to the med bay; Major Carter's initial tests are complete." Thor got up from the table and indicated that the group should follow him. He led them to a door off to the side of the room and opened it.
"This is an observation room. It will give you the privacy needed to talk while I confer with SG1. When you are ready to emerge, simply press the crystal next to the door and it will open." Will and Ashley walked in, but Helen stayed out of the room.
"Actually Thor, I will complete the tests now if that is okay with you. I no longer have the reservations that I had earlier." She looked at Ashley. "It will also give you some time to talk all of this over with Will. This is a big decision, and I will base my actions off what you decide. I do not want you to think that you don't have a choice here." Helen hated the thought of out living her daughter. She had been hoping that eventually Ashley would start to show signs of not aging, because then it was out of their hands. But knowing what she knew now, she was not sure that she could ask her daughter to live like she had. It was hard to constantly lose those you love and harder still knowing knowing it.
Ashley started to step out of the room. "Mom, I already know what I want, I don't need to talk to Will about it." Helen held up her hand to forestall her head strong daughter.
"Please Ashley, it's only an hour and then we can talk just the two of us I promise." Ashley nodded her head and stepped fully into the room with Will. The door seemed to automatically close behind her. Helen walked over to where Thor was standing with Major Carter. She was already sitting up in the pod looking anxious to get started in reviewing the results.
"Major Carter, if you would like to go have a seat at the table SG1 should be here momentarily. I will assist Dr. Magnus into the pod." Sam jumped up and started to head to the table.
"Okay, can I make a request though? My name is Helen or Magnus, either is fine, but Dr. Magnus is getting repetitive." She looked between Sam and Thor. Sam laughed for a second and bowed her head.
"That's fine. I agree, I get tired of hearing Major Carter all the time. Sam or Carter either one for me is fine as well. But I don't think that you are going to get Thor to stop using your title. He has known us for years and still does it." She contemplated that for a second. "All except for Colonel O'Neill, most of the he uses just his last name."
"It is a form of respect Major Carter. I mean nothing by it. When Colonel O'Neill introduced himself to my people after the incident with the Ancients, it was with just "O'Neill", so that is how my people refer to him." He stated. If she didn't know any better, she would think that he was offended by her comment.
"If titles are a form of respect, then are we disrespecting you by not calling you Commander Thor every time we address you? I noticed that you were introduced that way, but other than General Hammond everyone else addressed you by just your name. My team followed suit, but we meant no disrespect." Helen was attempting to work her way through her first alien cultural exchange. She had plenty of experience with abnormals and did not think that this would be much different.
Sam watched from across the room. Now that she thought about it, that critical topic had never really come up. She was going to have to talk to Daniel about that as their cultural representative. She eagerly waited for Thor's response. She would hate to think that they had been disrespecting one of their closest allies and someone that she considered a friend, for years.
"There is no disrespect intended on the part of the Tau'ri. If there were I would insist on them using my title. We address them in the manner in which they introduced themselves to us." Thor continued to stand in the middle of the room waiting to see what would happen next. Helen looked at Sam clearly expecting her to do something about the current situation in which they found themselves.
Sam slowly approached Thor and dropped to her knees in front of him so that she could look him in the eye.
"Commander Thor, I would be honored if you would call me Sam and I apologize for not asking you sooner." Sam could not believe that in all the years she had known the Asgard, this subject had never come up. She would have to ask Helen later what made her think of it.
"There is no apology necessary Sam. I would be honored to address as such. Please continue to call me Thor, the title is not necessary between friends." Sam would have to talk to Daniel later, because it felt like there was a significant shift with what just happened.
Taking her que from the formality of Thor's words, Sam replied. "I would be honored to address you by name Thor thank you. I consider you a friend as well." She really wanted to lean forward and hug the little guy. Before she could decide what to do Thor turned to addressed Helen. Doctor was about as far as he got before she stopped him. She was now taking her que from what had just happened with Sam.
She got down on her knee the way that Sam did and looked him in the eye.
"Commander Thor, my name is Helen, and I would be honored if you would address me as such." The words were not exact, but she hoped that it was the intent that mattered not necessarily the wording.
Thor quickly replied to her is much the same manner as he had Sam. He offered to allow her to address him without the title, although he left off the friend part. She was not offended though; she did not have the history with him that the SG personal seemed to have.
"Helen if you would please lay down in the pod we can begin the scan." She stepped around him and got in much like Sam and Ashley had done. She did however take off her shoes. Unlike the two of them she had been wearing heals all day and this felt like it would be her only reprieve to take them off for a little while.
Helen made eye contact with Sam and gave her a slight nod. Sam smiled at her, gave her a slight wave, and said "See ya on the other side!" She laid down and watched as the top closed over her.
