Chapter 13
After Jack and the team went back to the med bay, Jack explained to Thor and Sam what was going on with the Tok'Ra and suggested they help move them. It was decided to wait to review the results of Sam's tests until after both Helen woke up, giving them something to compare them to, and when Sam's dad could be present. This way they would not have to discuss the 'science stuff', as Jack described it, more than once.
Daniel had his concerns regarding the protected planet treaty, but as Sam pointed out, with Anubis taking out the system lords, it was just a matter of time before he would attack Earth. Since the Asgard were in no way available to help them, it was a moot point anyway. However, Thor did explain that the Tok'Ra were not covered under the protected treaty, so there was no impact one way or the other.
The Sanctuary team was invited to go with them as it was a simple matter of transporting all the Tok'Ra and their stuff on board, travel few hours to the new home world, and drop them off. They jumped at the chance to see another world and meet some aliens. Helen contacted Declan in the London Sanctuary letting him know that the team was headed out on a mission and would most likely not be available for contact for several days. He was told that if they were needed, for emergencies only, to contact Henry and he would attempt to reach them. She left Declan in charge while she was gone.
Several SG teams were beamed to Thor's ship with enough gear and food supplies to last several days. Thankfully, it didn't take long for General Hammond to approve the mission as the President had been aware of the whole thing from the beginning. So, while Jack had been talking to Thor, General Hammond had been coordinating everything on Earth and getting it ready to go. The President and secret service were sent back to the White House as there was no reason for them to stay at the SGC and the President decided had been away for long enough. The longer he was away the harder the explanation was going to be.
Given SG1's history with simple missions, it really was no surprise to the SG personal when Thor announced that he detected a Goa'uld mothership in orbit above the planet and the planet was under attack. According to Thor there was also an active wormhole preventing the Tok'Ra from evacuating through it. So that is how they found themselves geared up and preparing for a fight if necessary.
"Colonel O'Neill, we will be coming out of hyperdrive in two minutes. We will beam everyone in the tunnels on board here. Be prepared to take out any Jaffa if needed." Thor announced.
Colonel O'Neill began barking orders to the teams. He and the rest of SG1 would cover the Sanctuary team as well as Doc Fraiser. Although Magnus's team and Doc Fraiser were far from defenseless. They all had previously regained their weapons when Helen had come out of the medical pod and Janet had geared up at the first word of trouble. SG3 took up defensive positions in front of Thor for obvious reasons and SG7 was spread slightly between the two teams. Everyone was spread out from the control panel to ensure there was not crossfire between the teams.
"When we arrive, I will beam everyone up and then get out as fast as possible. They may have detected our approach already, so we may encounter resistance. We will jump back into hyperspace as soon as we can. I am hoping that they will not follow; but it is likely." After a few seconds Thor further announced, "dropping out of hyperdrive now." The planet came into view below them, not that anyone was looking at it.
Tok'Ra began appearing in the control room. They came onboard as they had been moving in the tunnels, meaning they were all moving in different direction with no sense of organization between them. All of them had various injuries, some were unconscious on the floor and not looking to be in good shape. The ones that had been facing the SG teams when they were beamed onboard immediately lowered their weapons recognizing a rescue, although not necessarily understanding how. The others looked around for targets having no idea what was going on. More of the Tok'Ra arrived on the ship but it was not until the third transport beam that they encountered two Jaffa. Thankfully, they were just as disoriented as the Tok'Ra and easily taken out.
"Everyone get down, stay out of our line of fire." Jack yelled at the Tok'Ra. Those that didn't get down fast enough were pulled down by others near them. "Thor, you get everyone?"
"Almost O'Neill. There are still a few more to transport. Two of them are not showing life signs and will be transported to the med pods with several others that are close to death. I will attempt to revive them and heal the others." He moved a few of the crystals on the control panel just as the first shots from the mother ship impacted the shields, almost knocked them off their feet.
"Reynolds, take Baker, Bosco and Teal'c to the Medical Bay, make sure there are no surprises. Teal'c can show you the way." Upon hearing that Thor was transporting people into the medical pods he became concerned that anyone of them could be Jaffa and not actually Tok'Ra.
"Yes Sir, alright, lets move out. Teal'c take point since you know the way." The afore mentions members moved to the door as ordered moving as the tactical unit that they were and clearing the hallway before exiting.
"That is everyone O'Neill." Thor said. "Entering Hyperspace now." Everyone collectively held their breath waiting to see if the Goa'uld would follow.
Sam and the medical personal from SG7 began to triage the fallen members of the Tok'Ra. The ones that were unconscious took precedence and Janet was looking at them. Helen, while not understanding exactly everything that was going on, but having been on enough missions to know when her help was needed, began doing what she could to assist. Janet moved to the most obviously injured woman on the floor and started doing what she could with her limited resources.
Only two of the unconscious Tok'Ra were in extremely bad shape. It appeared that they had been caught in the blast that allowed the Jaffa to enter the tunnels. She was hoping that the others that lay on the floor around her could be healed by their symbiotes. Janet had been alternating between the two that had open wounds. Evans was helping with the first and Wynter with the second. Both had more training then the usual SG member, but neither was a doctor.
Helen moved over to Janet and asked if she could be of any assistance. "I'm a medical doctor, Sam explained that the host is human, I have lots of experience with that. I will work on one while you help the other is that acceptable?" Helen was not used to waiting for permission from anyone, but this group of people were obviously well trained, and they didn't know what she was capable of yet.
Janet looked up at her making a split-second decision to trust that Helen knew what she was doing. If she had any hope of saving either of them then she would need to be able to focus on what she was doing.
"Okay, work on him, I will be over here. Let me know if you need me. Wynter's will be assisting you. There are med kits, but they are limited." Janet moved back to her original patient and got to work noticing along the way that Helen was already working to evaluate what needed to be done.
While all of this was happening, Garshaw approached O'Neill from across the room. She knew that her people were safe and needed information that only he could provide. "It seems like we are in your debt again, Colonel." She said as she walked up to him.
"Actually Ma'am, this was all Thor's doing. Let me introduce you." Jack walked her the few feet to where Thor was standing behind the controls.
"It does not look like we are being pursued O'Neill." Thor said as they walked up. "I believe they stayed behind to search the tunnels as this is an opportunity they have not had before."
"That's good to hear Thor. Let me introduce you to Grand Councilor Garshaw of Belote and her host Yosuf. She is a member of the Tok'Ra High Council. Garshaw, this is Thor, Supreme Commander of the Asgard Fleet." Thor looked up from the controls blinked at Colonel O'Neill and stepped back and away from the control panel. He looked up at Garshaw.
"Grand Councilor Garshaw and Yosuf, Welcome aboard the O'Neill."
"Supreme Commander Thor, it is an honor to meet you. We appreciate the rescue you have provided my people." She turned to Jack. "He is correct Colonel O'Neill as to the reason they did not follow. As you know when we move bases, we destroy the tunnels and any technology that we have no choice but to leave behind. In this case that was clearly not an option. They will use this opportunity to find out what they can about the Tok'Ra."
"Councilor Garshaw, I was able to beam everything into a storage room, the only thing they will find upon further examination is empty tunnels."
While Garshaw and Thor talked, Jack took a minute to look around the room. Janet was barking orders attempting to field operate on one of the gravely wounded Tok'Ra while it appeared Dr. Magnus was doing the same thing a few feet away. He was glad that he had suggested SG7 for the mission. They were a science and medical team and while he had not foreseen this turn of events to need their medical assistance, it was currently coming in handy. They were moving with confidence around the room, separating the walking wounded from the ones that would need additional medical assistance.
He watched as Major Carter was directing everyone on where to go as the medical team diagnosed them. She had taken command with Colonel Long since Janet was busy and was unable to coordinate the medical staff. Daniel, Ashley and Will were with the mildly injured Tok'Ra lending assistance by adding bandages to burns caused by staff blasts and injuries caused by the falling crystals in the tunnels.
"Thor is it possible for these two to be transferred to medical pods?" Janet called across the room never looking up from what she was doing.
"It is not Doctor Fraiser, they are already in use attempting to revive the eight Tok'Ra that had died before we arrived. If we remove them now, I can not put them back in later and they will not survive." Thor replied.
"Okay, can we return to earth? We will do what we can to keep them alive until we get there."
"We are already headed in that direction; we should arrive in approximately fifteen minutes." Thor replied.
"What about healing devises?" Sam wanted to know. "Between that and the symbiote it may work to keep them alive until we can get home for additional assistance. I've been practicing and will do what I can to help. From the looks of it most of you are too injured or exhausted to use one effectively."
"We have them stored with our science equipment. We were the last group to make the trip so unfortunately, we only have a few."
"Everything is in the storage room to the right of us O'Neill. If you take Councilor Garshaw with you I am sure she can retrieve them for your use. I will contact the SGC and let General Hammond know of the situation so he can prepare for our arrival."
Let me know that you think and if you have any suggestions for how things should proceed between SG1 and the Sanctuary team.
Thank for reading, hope you are all enjoying it.
